Midweek Open Thread 26 June 2019

Day 6 of the Boris Johnson crucifixion . Even the least attentive person must , by now , have realised that the Main Stream Media -led by a hostile biased BBC – are out for Mr Johnson’s blood . Only President Trump has received more vilification .

Perhaps , on the up side , more people will become conscious of what the MSM / BBC is doing in the name of taxpayers . And perhaps they’ll get Fedup too .

BoJo doing a very good job at the Bournemouth hustings. Positive, upbeat messages about the future for the U.K., explanations about what is so badly wrong with the EU (when did we last hear that?) and plenty of detail about his potential policies as PM.
It is being shown live on Sky News. Unfiltered.
But not on the BBC, who will either ignore it or, more likely, find the most negative angle in their own good time, run it by Laura K and her cohorts, and offer up their own self serving anti BoJo analysis – because that’s what they do.

It’s sad really, isn’t it, Ed, that the appalling bbc think that their narrative means anything to the majority of sensible citizens, who pay their wages.

Long ago, there were real presenters, people with proper ideals and consciences working tirelessly for the bbc.

Now we get snowflakes, bitter little chaps with a bee in their pretty bonnets, mad women shouting at anyone with a dick, pathetic ‘humour’ from slags and dags, fresh from the pier, and we all expect and wish for much more from a solemn tax-funded organisation.

Luckily, Mrs O’Blene and I don’t listen to any of the bbc ‘news’, although, when sleep evades these old jowls, I pop the earphones to Radio5 dead, and endure the appallingly dull Rhod Sharpe – to get some sleep at the boring delivery. Dotun is so much better, and is pretty good at his presentation, especially when he poo-poos tittle-tattle when tasked with dubious stories about nobodies (politicians).

          I don’t know, Ves!

I thought that was a film, but may be mistaken!

Dotun Adebayo does at least try to be impartial, I think. He’s just different from the mainstream leftie bunch, and while I don’t care about his ‘foobawl prog’ on early Saturday mornings, he does do a decent music prog, and comes over as a thoroughly decent bloke.

Once, he put down a dribbling leftie so well, that there was a space of several seconds, while ‘said leftie’ had to ask its ‘manager’ what to do next! And all on air too!

            re your other point;

It wasn’t a film it was a weekly piece he did on famous celebrities who had died the previous week/month.

Indeed TM “no evidence that the Notre-Dame fire was the result of criminal action” according to Sky News. I’d be surprised if other possible causes weren’t being investigated at the same time. It will be interesting to read what, if anything, is positively identified as cause.

If a car races past a place with no ‘safety camera’ the lack of evidence being presented does not rule out that a crime may have taken place.

The exiled former president of the Gambia kept a harem as “his personal property” to rape or beat if they resisted his demands, an investigation into his 22-year reign has found.
.. injected her with an unknown liquid before raping her. He kept women known as “protocol girls” on call to provide sex, witnesses said.
He is thought to have stolen $1 billion before he fled to Equatorial Guinea after losing power to Adama Barrow.
Ms Jallow said: “Part of what he did was to break me and shut me down. I want him to hear me loud and clear.”

Mr Jammeh allegedly singled out “protocol girls” procured by a female cousin, Jimbee Jammeh, who had to be on call to provide him with sex.
The Gambia has no extradition treaty with Equatorial Guinea but lawyers hope that the new allegations will raise pressure for Mr Jammeh to face justice.

The liberal global establishment and the fake news industry are of like mind , or perhaps two sides of the same coin sums it up better. No matter where you go in the West the MSM pump out the same stories, pro Globalisation, pro mass migration, climate activism , anti white etc. The large tech companies such as Facebook and Google share the agenda. We on this site may be immune to their non stop propaganda but many folks, particularly young people, are influenced by it. Most of these companies are not state owned but in the hands of very rich Globalists who seek to gain world wide audiences or platforms for their products. Draining the swamp isn’t enough the anti Globalists need to even up the balance of news and comment by providing many more channels such as Fox and removing all forms of censorship from the internet.

Another development which, IMO, has contributed to the decline is that it is no longer acceptable for an adult to reprimand another person’s child. It worked well decades ago because there was always someone around to keep order. Try in now and you’ll end up in big trouble.

Personally – and its because I’m old, but I believe the rot set in for lack of respect, was when adults started to allow their very young offspring to call adults by their first name.

Growing up it was considered the height of bad manners to call a ‘grown up’ anything other than Mr or Mrs, or Aunty / Uncle. Now young mums seems to think its ok for their 5 year old to be introduced to me by my first name. I’m old enough to be a granny if not a great granny, so I find it unbelievably uncomfortable to be referred to in this manner. I object to cold telephone callers using my Christian name, but try telling a young mum that I’m Mrs…… to their kid, and how huffy they would be.

Perhaps those on here with young children, might take a moment to ask an adult what they preferred to be called when introducing them to the children. Its common courtesy if nothing else.

I had a clear suspicion it would happen. The BBC and history; the BBC and its amnesia.

They have forgotten, on Radio4 & the web-site at least, to commemorate the Centenary of the end of World War 1.

One hundred years ago today, in Versailles, the Treaty was signed to formally end that awful conflict.

However, the BBC did manage this morning to commemorate the half-centenary of something most people do not think about. Amazing.

I’m late in replying here, and others might have covered my points re Boris and his neighbours. However, all (or nearly all) the comments re the article and the actions of the neighbour, have been scathing towards the neighbour. They have made the insinuation that it all looks to be a fix – especially when Boris’s neighbours appear to be nearly all REMAINers. Plus, despite requests from Breitbart (amongst others) the Guardian has not released the so-called recording to verify the words in the argument.

Having said that, I will reiterate that I do not trust Johnson – to me, Johnson is for Johnson………..

I think even he knows that to break that promise means the welcome extinction of the Conservative Party and the further rise of ‘The Forgotten Party “ – the one led by N Farage …

NG, another possible reason to consider Bojo over Jeremy Hunt is who is most likely, in the event of a General Election, to do a deal with Farage & Tice and The Brexit Party?

I can almost imagine Bojo blustering and bumbling his way into that sort of deal, over the heads of Remainer Conservative MPs, whereas I can almost imagine Hunt folding and giving in to their demands, thus splitting the anti-EU/pro-Brexit vote and letting Jeremy Corbyn into No.10 Downing Street.

Fedup, I agree with most of what you say particularly about Johnson. If I was able to vote I would vote for him because there is a possibility (possibly small) that he will lead us out of the EU on 31st October. Whereas I don’t think there is any chance that Hunt would do it at all in any meaningful way. It is basically a choice between possible Brexit against none.

Agree. The ERG obviously still think (are hopeful?) they can hold him to leaving on 31 October.
It would mean that the 1972 European Communities Act is repealed on that date, which is crucial.

However, it’s a pity nobody is talking about the defence sell-out and border control/immigration (more important than ‘trade’ in my book).

Photos of the May/Putin handshake are so revealing and embarrassing for the UK. Our arrogant woman ex-Prime Minister doesn’t even have the basic commonsense to smile. It may not be sincere, it might be personally painful, but it’s called diplomacy and it is that which gains respect – not petulance.
Following his latest assessment of the effects of liberalism, Putin will inevitably gain more and more approval throughout Europe, despite the Greens, Brussels and the Guardian. That’s the way the wind is blowing and that’s why the EU are soiling their underpants and use Brexit as a convenient diversion from the reality they face.

Beltane – well spotted on the Blair . I obviously wish he was no longer around – but he was – for a while a very good politician for his cause – the destruction of a recognisable UK . Using a nutter like Campbell as his mouthpiece was clever . Selling out to the IRA to achieve a cease fire ( never peace ) May have been worth it – immoral – and throwing past victims in the bin of history plainly wrong .

Blair knows he is damned – you can see it through the expensive tan whenever the BBC put him on . And he is an excellent reminder of the need for a full brexit .

I saw him speak live once when he was in opposition . He got a standing ovation for promising and saying nothing – like the corrupt barrister that he is ‘was . So I left him out despite the damage he and his type are continuing to inflict .

As for Corbyn as a PM ? If yes it will be in name only will be in name only as McDonnell runs the show. I think it is likely for Corbyn to get the PM keys if there’s a general election because as Peterborough shows – Labour have learnt to use posts to corrupt elections and the election commission is as similarly bent .

Headline in Independent re the train stabbing, seem to be throwing their weight behind the stabber:

“Lee Pomeroy death: Man stabbed 18 times in 25 seconds on train to London ‘taunted’ attacker, court told”

inference… maybe it was all the victims fault!

Pretty certain that if any salient point from this trial should have been the headline it should be “Victim Stabbed 18 times in 25 seconds “.

Allegedly, the attacker mounted the train carrying a knife then after an argument used it to savagely kill the victim despite the fact that the victim was accompanied by his young son then got his friend to arrange stuff he could use to change his appearance after leaving the train so I’d like them to justify the headline they decided to run with which apparently was in a statement from one passenger on the train.

That’s the way to do it!

Another day, another infantile BBBC go at Donald Trump via the medium of the USA Women’s Soccer Team:

“USA have ‘phenomenal focus’ after Trump row – Ellis”

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/48794100

Under the headline is written “Coach Jill Ellis says the USA team has ‘phenomenal focus’ after US president Trump criticised forward Megan Rapinoe before their quarter final with France”.

Once again, the BBBC chooses to misrepresent what Donald Trump actually as well as choosing to ignore the events leading up to what he said.

What Donald Trump actually said was that Megan should respect the office of President, the flag and her country. What prompted him to say this was, on one occasion, her saying she wouldn’t f-ing go to the White House if invited and on another occasion, kneeling during the playing of the National Anthem as a mark of solidarity with someone else on whose behalf she felt offended.

The article goes on to state that the build up to the semi-final with France has been dominated by the row with Donald Trump implying that it has served to provide the impetus for the team’s ‘phenomenal focus’.

Although this so called row is clearly a matter of great import in the minds of the libtard USA team and is, in turn, presented by the libtard BBBC as such, it is surely nothing more than a matter of utter triviality to Donald Trump.

    The BBBC deserves abolition.

I heard Mr Robinson interrogating Andrea Leadsom on Today this morning.

Obviously, Robinson was his usual obnoxious self, until Mrs Leadsom had to tell him to let her answer. Typical left wing BBC boorishness so far.

However, Robinson’s theme was that Boris had somehow lied when he said there was a “one in a million” chance of leaving the EU without a deal. This was obviously verbal hyperbole, not a policy commitment, as Mrs Leadsom tried many times to point out to the shiny headed commissar. Robinson was having none of it though: it was surely vital for Boris to be completely accurate in everything he said.

How beautiful it was, therefore, at the end of the interview, for Mrs Leadsom to correct Robinson who had called her the Leader of the House. She is of course the former Leader of the House, having finally resigned over Mrs May’s useless “deal”.

You don’t often hear somebody getting kicked in the teeth like that, live and on air. Nice one Andrea!

I read that on Sunday, Countryfile visits Machynlleth, the first town in Wales to declare a climate emergency. The towns people are so alarmed by the fact that temperatures have rise by over ten degrees in the last six months, that Machynlleth Town Council has declared a climate emergency for the Wellbeing of Future Generations and the Biosphere. The consequences of the warming in the last six months are so severe that the councils attempts to prevent this from continuing must be a key priority. The town council calls on the Wales and UK governments to provide the support and resources to make it possible for the council to stop and reverse the warming in the next six months. All governments (local, regional and national) have a duty to limit the negative impacts of the warming, such as the need to cut the grass every week. The council will launch an inclusive consultation to develop an action plan over the next six months. After six months the council will report on whether the actions have successfully reversed the warming and addressed the climate emergency. Hopefully by Xmas, it will be much cooler than at present, with local residents no longer needing to cut the grass every week. Therefore if this happens, the council will be able to declare the emergency, over.
