Another anniversary of that World Changing day.RIP
Meanwhile it’s 33 days until Parliament returns and 51 days until the UK leaves the EU .
Will the biased Far Left BBC continue to fight brexit ? will it go into collective mourning if it looks like we are really going ? Will more so called journalists lose the plot ?

Yes, I would assume his income is a little irregular if he believes the word “the” is pronounced “da”, and we can only regret he was allowed to broadcast this misconception to our younger members of society, many of whom use this patois yet complain about a lack of opportunity, wonder why ?
Can you imagine, for example, calling a technical helpline and being confronted with this gibberish ?

Well it looks like the BBC’s smear campaign against Boris has worked. Labour are picking up in the polls due to Corbyn being portrayed as a hero. Labour will win the next GE. Tory vote split and a second referendum and more Brexit delays will lead to withdrawal of of article 50.
This is the end of Brexit. The BBC will get what they want. Labour will be in power with the Lib Dem’s. Expect. Soft socialism at the very least. Our country is finished.
Corbyn and the remainers scam to trap the PM has worked and there is nothing we can do about it. Will Johnson accept a Brino? Does he even have a choice? Doesn’t matter anyway he has no choice. Corbyn is the one with power and is the chosen one. The BBC have officially endorsed Labour as the party of Britain or what is left of it.
A very sad time for this country but we just don’t have the numbers on our side. I think that Johnson has our best interests at heart but he was stabbed in the back from day one.
We have lost. These are very sad times but I guess I will have to accept the result. Brexit was never meant to happen. Better accept it and move on rather than be like those remainers have been the past two years.

I understand your pessimism- I am by nature a pessimist so no pep talk from me . I believed the original referendum votes would be fixed and was proved wrong .
Brexit is obviously in peril as all the opposition parties have lined up using the fatal Fixed Term Parliament Act as a weapon.
The only thing on our side is the clock ticking down .
I’m not sure how the council of ministers will play out on 17? October . Assuming Boris is still PM it will either be –
No deal brexit on 31st October
Repeal of A50 by the traitors the day after by Act using Bercow
Request for extension again
Some sort of deal which really means we stay in – paying without a say .
The outcome of an extension request will only be granted if the EU benefits . If they are getting Fedup with the UK then they might just say ‘goodbye ‘ they know there is no prospect of an election for 2 years or more . Even the most thick EU Crat must know there is a disconnect between parliament and voters and there will be a reckoning . – see Euro Elections .
Maybe Brexit will take longer – a withdrawal of A50 and then a further attempt when the traitors are thrown out of parliament .
Not a happy story .

I do not wish to put people on a downer but there is no point in pretending that we are the winners all the time. We are being set up to lose. There is still support for Brexit but no in Parliament. It does not matter who is in Downing Street at the moment as they will still not have the numbers.
It was a cruel stunt by Labour and the Lib Dem’s but they have the media on their side. The BBC have got what they want. Brexit support week and remain strong.
This time next year we might still be in the EU and with Corbyn as PM. I would not be just disappointed but actually terrified. Who knows what more stunts he will pull?
Of course it is not over yet. We do have time and a lot can happen. At the very least Parliament is prorogued. The worst has happened so far. Let’s hope for a change in direction

My view is that a Remainer alliance know that they will lose a GE because of FPTP. They also know that in second referendum they have a better chance of winning. So they will want to seize power , delay Brexit , hold another referendum, make sure that they win it by employing any method necessary and then dump Brexit for good and try to cement our place in the EU. The alliance will then break up and a GE will be held. The questions that occur to me are :
a) Can this train of events be prevented
b) Is it possible that the long delayed GE could still yield a Pro Brexit government in a year or so
c) will those who voted for Brexit in 2016 allow democracy to be trampled in the mud
d) what will be the long term impact on our democracy if the referendum is betrayed

BBC moaning emole:

Brexit: Labour’s Watson demands pre-election referendum
Labour deputy leader Tom Watson is insisting his party must make holding a referendum on Brexit its priority. In a speech, he will say that a general election might not break the current deadlock and that Labour must be “crystal clear” in campaigning for the UK to remain in the EU.
This puts him at odds with leader Jeremy Corbyn, who wants the party to offer voters both Leave and Remain options. Labour says it wants an election after 31 October, when a no-deal Brexit on that date has been ruled out.
The BBC asks what people around the UK think about Brexit.
With Parliament not sitting again until 14 October and the conference season about to begin, we also look at where the main parties stand.
***
What Watson ‘demands’ is of little interest to me.
What is is how his stock lies after the Carl Beech affair. Other than with the bbc, he is a shot bolt.
But one is sure the ‘people’ the bbc find to opine will trot out what the bbc likes.
They still control the edit.

The Remainers’ main argument is that although we voted to Leave it was not decided how. This apparently justifies offering a new choice to people between soft Brexit and no Brexit at all. Where is the sense in that?

Mind you, looking at the online rags, I’m pretty sure now, that remoaners are getting more and more confused, as No 10 has something in store for them, and they don’t know what it is!

Is it possible the combination of lax definition and idiot police commitments have led to ‘reports’ leading to attempted prosecutions failing because they are without merit.

BBC going big on relaxation of foreign students’ post-graduation residency rules. Thinking (it is good) but not thinking. No questions asked.
According to the BBC, we have a housing crisis. We have a NHS & GP provision crisis, the BBC regularly tell us. We have an overburdened road, rail & air transport crisis. We have, according to some – young people, especially as well as the BBC – a Climate Crisis and travel and housing and light & heating and road transport of goods all contribute to it.
No questions asked about the economics of such a move by the BBC. No questions about the practicalities from the BBC. No BBC questions about the infrastructure needed for an extra rolling population of around a quarter of a million. And most of all, no questions about international travel and the so-called ‘Climate Emergency from the BBC.
I wonder why?
On the evidence of this, the BBC cannot be trusted as a news organisation.

If you have a new-fangled DAB radio , try LBC or talkradio.
LBC – https://www.lbc.co.uk/ . talkradio – https://talkradio.co.uk/
Presenters are allowed to display their own opinions and political views. NIgel Farage has a program on LBC (6pm to 7pm Mon – Thur and Sunday 10am till 12). Once hooked you will not go back to the depressing, dull and very annoying BBC.
Both these stations have rapidly growing audiences much to the consternation of the dying BBC.

I will never forget Question Time from that week in September, 2001…
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/northamerica/usa/1340578/BBC-says-sorry-to-tearful-US-envoy.html
“THE BBC apologised yesterday for any offence caused by a special edition of Question Time on the terrorist assault on America that left the former United States ambassador to Britain in tears.
Hundreds of viewers telephoned to complain that anti-American views expressed by the audience did not represent British public opinion. They also accused the BBC of displaying insensitivity by airing the programme so soon after the disaster.
At one point, Philip Lader, the former American ambassador, who was on the panel, was slow hand clapped by a section of the audience.
He said with tears in his eyes: “I have to share with you that I find it hurtful that you can suggest that a majority of the world despises the US.”

I don’t usually watch Newsnight, but I did get in just as the dregs were being played out. And what did I see…
The Arch Bishop of Canterbury (Justin Welby) prostrating himself in front of a memorial to (yet another) blood soaked British atrocity, somewhere in India.
He was apologising, again, on our behalf for events that occurred a century ago and lecturing us about how appalling our history was.
They all do it. Livingstone, Cameron, May and now Welby.
They travel half way round the world to humiliate our country abroad, while virtue signalling to those at home.
I actually think this constant condemnation of our past is both damaging and degrading. I’m not defending the massacre, but I am condemning the endless self flagellation. It’s important that we know these events happened, but we seem to be fixated on them. It’s unhealthy.
Welby has lots of form on these PC issues, either blathering about carbon footprints, waffling about slavery or going on about the evils of empire. The Guardian and The BBC can’t get enough of him.
When he is in Blighty he’s forever warning us about the perils of a no deal Brexit. Crying out loud man, stick a sock in it!
I find that I’m reminded of Henry the second’s famous aside…
“Shall no one rid me of this turbulent priest?”

I’d like to hear from Mr Welby how many souls he’s personally brought to salvation through Jesus Christ. After all that’s his job and the only reason the job exists.

Did I hear Toady earlier, correctly? A mere few moments exposure. That’s the way it has become. Yesterday, alone, about 85 invaders entered the UK having come across the channel in small boats. Have the Home Office announced they would be preparing an, ‘enhanced plan’ to deal with this escalating problem?
Here, Home Office, can I help by suggesting something rather simple that fits in rather well with the Governments migration policy?
‘Send more taxis to mid channel to help fulfil the invaders journey’. What about chartering cross-channel ferries?
Simples.

They all claim political asylum. That means they will be here for years. Even if they lose their claim, they will appeal it again and again. By the time they come to be deported, they will have wives and children, and their right to a family life means they will have to stay.
Once their feet touch British soil the chance of them ever having to leave is very, very low, and they know it. That’s why they do it.

Don’t worry, Fakes, we’ll look after them.
Here in Kent, with Rye and Winchelsea Beach close by, we’ll take them all in, plunder our poll taxes, feed them, house them, school them in their own language, rid them of disease, pay for them to squirt babies everywhere, and generally use our money well.
We can’t afford a holiday, but a trip across the Channel would be nice one day.

TOADY Watch #2 – an alternative (not much!) to Sky News.
An air of BBC confidence surrounds Tom Watson’s call for Labour to campaign entirely for the UK to remain in the EU. Except Labour do not want a General Election (and voted against the opportunity last week and this) because they know Brexit will be the differentiating identity of Labour, the SNP, the LibDems and the Green MP on one side and the Conservatives, The Brexit Party and UKIP on the other and as pro-EU they might lose.
Heavily.
Much as Jeremy Corbyn would like Brexit to go away so that he could be Prime Minister, it is an issue that will boil on and on and the pan will never become empty now, it will never boil dry.
It is a matter to wonder about: would the MPs in Parliament have refused another Referendum on the EU had Boris Johnson offered it on Monday? I suspect they would. Again, because they might lose.
No questions asked – at least during my intermittent listening to the Toady programme this am – about this.
I wonder why?

Suggest we know why so many politicans in the 2016 referendum voted to Remain inside the EU, but one has to ask why? What is the EU actually today? There have been utopian and partly totalitarian undecurrents to the EU for years. Those undercurrents have reached the surface. The EU as we have seen increasingly resembles a pan-European tyranny. Massive pressure from illegal immigration in the Mediterranean regions seemingly goes unabated. Hundreds of thousands migrants have crossed illegally in boats to come to Europe-comming from all over the Islamic world-the EU through its actions has encouraged this immigration. Frankly we have to accept that the EU promotes crime and instability which over time has weakened Europe’s cultural and physical defences. The European Union is not about cooperation for protecting the best interests of Europeans; it is about turning the entire continent into a multicultural theme park while the natives get culturally deconstructed and demographically crushed. It now shows the EU as a LARGE SCALE social experiment conducted by hundreds of millions of people. It is not about economics of scale but about stupidity of scale. It corrupts virtually everybody that comes close to it. It cannot be reformed, it can only be dismantled. Knowing that the EU has long constituted a threat to the freedom and prosperity of Europeans, these policies now contitute a direct threat to our lives. So who in their right mind would vote to stay in ? Maybe the BBC would like to move to Brussels.

Quite obvious from what I have heard this new woman Von Der Leyen say concerning the UK and Brexit deals, there will be no special favours given by the her of the EU to allow the UK to slip back into the EU-Likely any Labour representative will also be given a short sharp response. In 2016 a referendum was held and a majority vote was given by the voting public to leave-nothing more but to leave-the disgraceful proceedings since 2016 by this nations MP’s has been nothing short of treachery. They should hang their heads in shame, and as for one Leader of the Liberals to have the termerity and impudence to state that they would STOP Bexit. If I were a member of the Liberals I would be down on that leader like a ton of bricks.

Ah but the Globalist elite are all in favour of supranational organisation and dream of a technocratic unelected world government. They are neither democrats or patriots, infact they despise their own nations. They see the EU as a building block of the future they are committed to. They have been surreptitiously pursuing this dream for decades knowing that until they had indoctrinated cadres of young folks to think correctly they could not openly speak of their future goals. They have busily marched through the institutions and gained control of the MSM, judiciary, education , civil service etc. Brexit has forced them out into the open and their strength is being tested . If they win their position becomes near impregnable , if they lose and we Brexit they will rely on their likeminded colleagues in the EU and elsewhere to force us back in by trying wreck our economy . Democracy and our national indenting is hanging by a thread ..

It was pretty inevitable that , with huge Soros resources, remainers would find some friendly judges willing to put the courts above parliament .
In the current climate it’s probable that the uk Supreme Court May divide in favour of remain .
How soon is that to be heard ?
Maybe next week – which is important because we’d have an even bigger constitutional crisis where a court is ordering a government to go back into parliament . But I think that’s a bit too much

I have a friend who was a school caretaker in his latter years. He was amazed at the number of kids being diagnosed with some kind of mental illness or other, and so were their parents.
Turns out that the school can claim a massive cash premium for every child so diagnosed, and is thus incentivised to do so, in many cases with tenuous reason.

I fear that his will be the direction. But I also fear that the violence will not be a clean fight, as when the people rise up, take over the street, the media and face the traitors who have taken over the state.
It will be a nasty fight, with deranged killers and their incoherent manifestos taking up arms. Small bands of people easily identified and condemned as crazies, rather than an honorable battle of Britain.

. . . . . 2009 Fort Hood shooting …..
After entering the building, Hasan went to the first desk to the right of the North doors and asked to see Major Parrish. MAJ Parrish worked in the building (and had been assisting Hasan in his deployment preparations). The worker went down the hall to get Parrish. According to eyewitnesses, Hasan had then gone around behind the desk and bowed his head for several seconds when he suddenly stood up, shouted “Allahu Akbar!” and opened fire.[18][19][20] Witnesses said Hasan initially “sprayed bullets at soldiers in a fanlike motion” before taking aim at individual soldiers.[21] Eyewitness SGT Michael Davis said: “The rate of fire was pretty much constant shooting. When I initially heard it, it sounded like an M16.”[22]

I’d like to think so, Mr Sentry, but I fear not. It’s over. We leavers have lost, and the duplicitous remainian bar stewards in parliament have won. There will probably be two or three more small extensions to article 50, but in the end, they will revoke article 50.
I just hope leave voters won’t take the eventual betrayal lying down. I hope there will be protests in the streets – perhaps poll tax style riots. I will certainly take to the streets, which is something I have never done in my 48 years. But I am (and will be) damned furious about the overturning of the 2016 referendum result.

Much as I would like to believe otherwise, I think your ‘taking to the streets’ will be a pointless gesture unless others are suitably inflamed, and do the same. My experience is that they won’t bother, in any numbers, if at all. This Brexit show will slowly die a death, and things will continue as before, with the comfortable electorate going about their business as usual, and unwilling to participate in yet another election, the result of which will make little difference to anyone.
A Labour government (or coalition) will take the reins, for a while, whilst the country continues to descend into the abyss, probably at an enhanced rate. The EU will remain in overall control, until such time as it, itself, collapses – which cannot be far off.

Labour are on the cards. They have been pushing and pushing and will not stop until they win. To them Brexit is a game and a tool to get into power.
I expect that the polls are picking up on the response to the pro Corbyn bias. By the end of next week Labour will be ahead in a couple of polls and after feeling confident they will call a vote of NC once parliament sits and Corbyn will end up as caretaker. He will delay Brexit, be branded a hero and will have full support of the media.
A Corbyn minority will take office boosted by the Lib Dem’s and SNP. Both get a second referendum. The Lib Dens get to push remain but on their terms. Leave will only win if they can get 80% and Scotland get Indyref2 breaking the union.
That is worst case scenario but better be prepared for the blow now than to be shocked later

So in the true democratic spirit of a Gina Miller. the desperate remainers go to a Scottish court to get a ruling to stop Boris.
The fleeing to court syndrome represents new insidious and evil threat to our democracy. No doubt they knew that an English court would be less prepared to give them what they wanted so Scotland being pretty much a remain outfit, certainly at the higher echelons was the weapon of choice.
The British people now have only one tactic left to show their disgust at this. The next General Elections! I hope that every MP involved in this has been noted for a trouncing when the elections come along and which now includes the majority of the snake-lke Labour party.
Come on everyone who can make this happen, lets get rid of these reptiles in a way that no court can overturn regardless of whether they succeed in advancing their anti-people plot or not..

Digg,
Let’s face it, the lower courts (Mags/County Courts) normally always follow previous precedents (‘stare decisis’) but the higher courts toy with the law. In my view, there has to be many a time in any appeal process that a judge in a higher court will make an important decision based upon his/her/its personal preferences. To avoid any allegation of personal preference, they just mould the law around their decision in an attempt to conceal their personal preferences.

I find it staggering that highly paid lawyers and barristers don’t scrutinise every legal loophole before a parliamentary decision is made. If they did, then there would be little point in opponents crying “its illegal to do …….” and then apply to the Courts for an overruling.
Today’s case in point where the Scottish Courts have deemed suspension of Parliament as illegal is surely something the best legal brains should have been aware of. It beggars belief that these lawyers, who all have access to the same books of reference, don’t have all the t’s crossed before passing any action is ok and legal !

Brissles,
For my time involved with the legal profession, it was clear to me, alongwith everything else, Bills/Statutes deteriorated. Toward the end my time, simple obvious errors like duplicating a sub-section number/letter became a norm. The Drafting was abysmal and errors uncorrected. So much for the Lords finally scrutinising the finished Bill.
I don’t think they could have been aware, as it’s never been considered illegal until the judges made it up this morning. As they are wont to do, being lawyers, who can argue black is white if need be.
However, surely if that applies to Boris, the same applies to the Speaker clearly misleading Parliament as to whether the No Deal Bill required Queen’s Consent? It manifestly did as it affects Royal Prerogative. It has to be possible to challenge him too.

RD,
So much for our, “Unwritten (“flexible”) Constitution”. The downfall of that erroneous statement was sure to return to haunt its advocates at some point in the UK’s history. I would be interested to know what Starkey thought about it. Anyway, behold, a Scottish court trying to alter our ultimate arbiter – the Government – representing the people/voters.
As Starkey said a few days ago, to go against the decision of the people and dismiss and/or reverse Brexit takes this country into extremely dangerous territory.

Brissles – Thought the same !! Bit miffed with Boris really, i fancied him to get the job done to be honest , you would have thought he would have played the game more shrewdly than he has. He has left loopholes for the Remainers to exploit at every turn and even suspending parliament has got him nowhere really .
Just out of interest, do the Remainers and Gina Miller every lose a court case ??? You would be forgiven thinking the judiciary is full of Remainers !! Surely not !! About as impartial as the BBC !!
Sick as a chip with this now, how come Remain seem to find loophole after loophole and Leave are seemingly hamstrung at every turn. Infuriating !!!

My opinion, I don’t think I expected Prime Minister Johnson to be capable of getting us out of the EU. I expected that he’d draw to himself the necessary experienced and capable people who can formulate a plan that will do that for us.
I see Prime Minister Johnson as the front man who takes the flak while his team get on with the job of getting us out.
At the moment, I’m hoping and praying that’s what is happening.

What are doing to Johnson is what they are did to May. The only difference is he is at the moment sticking up two fingers to the opposition.
One report on the Express States that he still has a plan and we will ‘know more near the time’
Shall I get my hopes up?
Another report on the BBC website states that Johnson has rejected a pact with Farage. What is this? We are leaving and do not need the extra support or just putting in a brave face?
The game is still in session for now it seems

This isn’t a ******* loophole. It’s just the Remain judges have given them what they wanted. This is the fruit of Blair’s politicisation of the judiciary and just about everything else. Despite 2 technical tax law tribunals finding in favour of the Football club….it was appealed a 3rd time by HMRC.
Ending up at the Scottish High Court where the technical arguments were dispensed with in favour of a ruling which basically said……..

Seems the Supreme Court hearing starts next Tuesday – probably 9? Sitting to hear the combined cases. A unanimous decision is , I think , unlikely and even if Brexit wins the Remainers will seize on the dissenting judgement (s) for the ‘next way forward’.
Personally although I don’t read as many judgements as I once did I think the judges will avoid stepping on executive toes and stay out of politics .
Mind you it depends on whether there is existing case law on Prorogation – I know there was trouble in Canada on it but have no detail ….. might look it up . Or maybe not ….
Not worth admitting defeat yet .

Fed,
It’ll probably be a nine justice case next week due to the importance.
Hmmmm. Let’s suppose that the decision is made in a 5/4 ratio, in favour of keeping the courts out the business of Parliament. Roughly the same as the 52/48% in the 2016 Referendum. What then? Clearly the Remoaners will not accept the decision either. A Call to Arms is the only alternative left. Maybe a military coup? Doubtful as the military is so depleted that it could not mount anything at present. The Police, so-said, 20,000 short with parents, friends and relatives who voted in 2015. Lock up the ones who join the insurrection?

With the way Parliament is operating – both houses and speakers – wouldn’t be surprised if, whenever they return , they just push an article 50 revocation act through in 48 hours.
They’ve happily rubbished the Referendum during the last years so ignoring it won’t be much of a push for them . The end of term stuff the other night shows there is a pretty strong ‘groupthink’ going on which might not dissipate whilst they are out of the Commons because they’ll still be scheming …..
Meanwhile voters are still going ‘what the ….?’

I think it might be useful to take a look at the reasons why the elites want to remain in Europe, and so far as I can see ALL the reasons are to do with personal gain, and non pro the European project.
Labour (people not the party).
The Tories HATE the British working class, and with good reason. Ever since the formation of the Labour party and the Unions they have been a thorn in the side of the economy surly lazy, and strike prone, the culmination being the general strike when the left attempted to overthrow democracy. It didn’t end until Margaret Thatcher crushed the unions, but the emnity lived on.
It’s no better on the Labour (party) side though. They started off as the champion of the White working class, but in the 1970s the made a concious decision to betray them. The meeting went something like “The average working man is a racist, and we represent the average working man so shouldn’t we be racist too”?
The answer came back that Labour should champion the ethnic minorities and fight the working class they were supposed to represent. Alas those dim witted workers were to stupid to notice the change and that the party which once championed them now stood as their enemy.
Enter the EU accession states and the free movement of people, and the Chairman of the Tory party didn’t even advertise vacancies in the UK for his ‘Next’ warehouses (or if he did no one noticed). Slurs were cast against the White working class that they were workshy and idle. Labour joined in, in the hope the newcommers would vote for them.
Grants for Land under the CAP.
Any landed gentry such as Lord Hesseltine have been raking in farming subsidies for years, a £100 K pa income for him and similar amounts for others, quite clear they aren’t going to want to give that up.
Offshore Tax advantages.
Britain is a high tax Socialist country and many of the EU member states are offering companies lower corporation tax to offshore their headquarters and pay less tax (nothing to the UK exchequer). Tory Grandee Martin Sorrell headquarters his advertising agency in Ireland for tax advantages.
Vote rigging. Nearly all election fraud has been in Labours favour, and virtually all of it has been by Pakistani Muslims which the Tories are too cowardly useless and incompetent to do anything about. The recent Peterborough by election which was narrowly won by Labour saw allegations of widespread vote rigging with Eastern Europeans being paid £20 to vote Labour.
Undemocratic legislation.
EU diktats do not pass through parliament for approval or debate, they simply pass into UK law, but before they do the civil service applies something they call ‘gilt edging’ where many more clauses are added without parliament ever getting to even hear about them.
If we leave the EU it will become impossible for Whitehall to impose law by diktat and it will have to pass through the commons and be subject to debate. Worse for the elites is that the people will get to know what they are up to.
Having to implement our own laws means a lot more work for MPs which they don’t want to do.
Protection from accountability.
How many times have you heard “well we would but EU law” the Welsh Steelworlks where the government was forbidden from a bail out, and many other instances.
The elites can hide behind the protective cloak of EU legislation and requirements instead of taking responsibiliy and being accountable themselves.
Leave the EU and the protective cloak vanishes.
Cheap household labour.
This one has been aired many times but it is still valid. The elites are able to draw on a pool of cheap servants and handymen which they could never do before. Nannies, Au Pairs, Cleaners, plumbers etc etc.
They do not want to lose this nice comfortable help.
I hope I have shown here that the elites are not pro remain because of some fanatical belief in ‘ever closer union’, they are pro remain purely because of what they can get out of it. Sure there are passionate remainers who do believe in the EU project, but by and large not many in the elites.
Paradoxically Corbyn wants to be out of the EU because he wants to be free of the shackles which restrict his spending plans, the other more moderate in his party have forced him to rethink this.
If anyone else can add to this list of reasons then please do because the more we understand why the elites are so pro Europe, the more we can pull them up over it.

Thoughtful – I’d tone down the benefit of parliamentary scrutiny ol legislation if I were you – the surrender act and fixed term parliament monsters being leading current examples .
My law prof specialising in EU law used to marvel at the way the UK civil service locked in EU legislation whilst other EU countries would get away with watering down if it suited them .
That was back when Maastricht was being kicked about …..

i’m in the middle of reading “the great deception” by brooker & north 2005 (many pages, so 6mths to go I think).
my take from memory (16yrs old in 1973) & the book so far is we the public were told/sold were joining a common market which was a good/desirable thing.
don’t think we had a vote on this(Heath gov)? but at the time I thought it sounded ok ish.
but as the years have gone on the “common market” has expanded to become the EU with powers over almost every aspect of UK & other member countries laws etc.
some may be happy to let non elected EU technocrats decide our laws & where a large chuck of our tax & vat moneys goes but I now at 62 want it spent wisely looking after our own people.

This Archbishop Welby obviousy by his extraordinary action in India, has or holds contempt for the British people whose ancesters did so much to aid India, introducing so many of its inventions, such as Trains, of which the Indian people have used and enjoyed for so many years-however their Maharaja’s for centuries before the British were anywhere near India behaved with complete distain for their own people, control, enslavement and a policy to keep those people ignorant and poor. So why would this British member of the church of the United Kingdom bring his own ,mostly unfounded condemnation of our ancesters so contemptuously. Brought shame to the position of Archbishop-certainly has lost any respect that I and no doubt many may have had for him.

What would be the pros and cons of this idea?

There are the obvious pros of hurting the BBC while showing a limited form of public dissent with no collateral damage to other vital services eg NHS , defence. The only downside is that some folks will get picked on by the BBC and fined or sent to prison . My suggestion would be to actually pay the equivalent of the LF into a fighting fund which was used to finance legal teams to fight the BBC at every case they brought.
Of course there would have to large numbers taking part for to be worthwhile , a million or more. The organisation will be difficult and I feel this is the main stumbling block to my mind.

Can someone please answer a very simple question: is France at war at the moment? Is it dangerous? Because if not, why are leftists insisting that we should take in migrants from France. They should be claiming asylum in the first safe country they arrive in. The French authorities should be stopping the migrants from risking their lives by trying to cross the channel in inflatable dinghies. No-one seems to care about the French inaction on this subject.

Could be dangerous getting in the way of the stampede to Calais/ Ouistreham/Dunkirk/ St Malo/ Zeebruge etc. Already decided if we need to drive back to Blighty we’re heading down to Santender in Spain, the French number plate does fool them as well. Went through Ouistreham last time and although there were many gentlemen of a dusky hue milling around they ignored us and concentrated on harassing the trucks. Scared us the way the trucks ignore red lights because they don’t want to stop.

If any government wanted to stop the migration it could do so within a week. But the truth is that the governments of France, UK, Germany , Holland, Belgium , Spain etc are all perfectly happy for it to continue.

I wouldn’t be too certain Corbyn will lose an election, especially when we hear things as today – the government will relax the rules allowing overseas students 2 years in which to secure employment, thus encouraging a significant increase in this sector of immigration. and it serves as a reminder that the Tories have ingrained left wing instincts which will alienate them from many of their traditional voters
