Christmas Thread 23 December 2019

I’d like to take this opportunity to wish everyone who reads or writes on this site a very happy Christmas from our very small admin crew.
Thank you for your contributions throughout the year as the Biased BBC has spread its’poisonous propaganda across the airways – for which people have to pay . Perhaps that is going to change .

I’m grateful to the Christmas edition of Private Eye which referred to the BBC as the Bolshevik Broadcasting Collective.

I’ll spare you the context but that is rather good so think I might use it from time to time.

That’s it from me. Off to peeling spuds. Have a great day.

Does this mean that we still have a supporter at Private Eye? Perhaps I should renew my subscription which, after a 25 year stint, I cancelled when it became an organ of The Establishment. I wonder if this means that Mr Hislop will have to watch his back at the BBC.

A Merry Christmas to all contributors to, and readers of, this site. It so often helps to keep one sane, as we drift along on the great social engineering project others have decided for us, and which various propaganda outlets have taken upon themselves to promote.
May we all be given the Grace to see beyond the rampant consumerism and exhortations to ‘have fun’ and see what this Festival is really all about.
Best Wishes for a healthy and happy 2020!

Hilarious scene, Chancers – thank you!

Mrs O’Blene and I still mutter ‘bastards’ in that voice or the other version when the quiz show host gets plastered and his wig falls askew…

We were only saying yesterday, that this series was so good, mainly because it only ran for a short time – three series? Dermot Morgan died far too young, and was just splendid in that role! Pauline McClynn set the scene for one of the funniest parts ever written in a comedy show!

Channel 4 didn’t have the chance to milk that series, like the BBC do, just wringing every last gasp out of anything which seems remotely successful, then eventually turning the viewers off completely when it becomes irrelevant and boring.

They finally ruined Del Boy that way, with a stupid prog at the end, full of poor innuendo, weak lines, and a ridiculous ‘plot’!

The BBC seems not to be reporting a serious incident in nakatomi plaza in LA – it seems a bunch of terrorists have attacked it . The local news is reporting that an off duty NYPD cop is on the scene – and a local fat one is buying donuts…

This seems only to be being reported on twitter at the moment and the MSM haven’t reported it ….

Also on Twitter – some wag has also asked whether Jeremy Corbyn enjoyed the Queens Speech this morning …..

    BBC professionalism on Christmas Day.

Over 700 homeless people died last year.
Clearly we are expected to feel compassion.

Especially when then told that there are 280,000 homeless people in the country.

A moment’s thought however reveals that for a population of 280,000 then if everyone lived to be 100 there would typically be 2800 deaths per year.

So a figure of 700 homeless deaths a year is revealed to be meaningless.

If I can work it out why is it the highly talented ‘journalists’ at the world’s finest impartial broadcaster cannot?

    • StewGreen says:

Or if you have a population of about 65 million
      and lifespan is 70 something
      Then you’d expect about a million deaths/year

Guest – The destruction of the family and therefore the very idea of a ‘together’ and happy family would appear to be goal of the Left, for whom the far more important social unit is the state. A big, powerful, intrusive, interfering, state. The more it can prescribe how we live our lives, the happier it will presumably be.

It will take over as much as possible of the traditional parental role. It will restrict real freedoms and create false ‘freedoms’; so, for example, the state will decide on and enforce the nature of discipline within the family, while allowing young people to decide what sex they ‘would like to be’. I’m sure readers can think of other examples.
The bbc is a big, powerful, intrusive, interfering organisation too. As ‘public broadcaster’, it enjoys the critical backing of the state in levying a tax for its own benefit. (So far.) I somehow doubt that, as vanguard of ‘progressive’ ideas in the state, it is going to be a friend of ‘together’, happy families.
At least not in the sense they were traditionally understood.

Talk about quotas; did anyone bother to watch on Christmas Eve, Mark Gattis’s feeble stab at MR Jame’s ghost story ‘Martin’s Close’?

Other than not being at least bit scary; up there, right and center was a BME actor as a main character in a story set in Devon 1654!

Does AL Beeb now get prosecuted if they don’t a have token black actor in every drama?

On a completely different matter, Andrew Marr writing in the Christmas edition of The Spectator , still does not get it…

‘So, was it really necessary for Conservative Central Office to send Boris Johnson to wrangle heifers in Aberdeenshire, dangle codfish in front of photographers and deliver early-morning milk to bleary, pre-prepped householders? Really, what was that all about? Did any of the frantic criss-crossing of the country, the bogus rallies and media scrums, change any minds at all? Or was it, perhaps, displacement activity for a political class sitting nervously in the waiting room?’

‘Red Andy’ get out beyond the M25 once in while, it is called electioneering!

      Another beauty:-

‘Another man I’d single out is John McDonnell, the shadow chancellor. Like his mate Jeremy Corbyn, he is now close to becoming an un-person after huge defeat. But I take as I find. And I have always found him attentive, polite and prepared to answer hard questions in clear language.’

Who is he kidding.. what that Marxist was shoveling, the country was not buying.

Presumably it is because Red Andy finds Red McDonnel attentive polite and prepared to answer questions that they had the cosy fireside chat on the Sunday post election. I wonder how Marr would have described himself the day he ranted at Boris? Loud screaming and rude, perhaps? The noisiest teachers have the noisiest classrooms. Andy should think about that when he is interviewing.

Trump impeachment: Lisa Murkowski ‘disturbed’ over co-ordination

Ah, the BBC has managed to find a Republican senator breaking ranks over the impeachment of Trump.

Republican Senator Lisa Murkowski has said she is “disturbed” by her party’s stance before President Donald Trump’s impeachment trial.

Notably, the article refers to Trump as “the third president in US history to be impeached”. Actually, there’s been a fair amount of legal debate as to whether he really has been impeached, as Nancy Pelosi won’t hand the articles of impeachment over to the Senate, but don’t expect Auntie to let such trivialities spoil a good orgasm.

Ms Murkowski, a moderate Republican, has criticised President Trump on a number of policy issues.

The good old “bias by moderation” ploy. I am moderate, you are extreme. In other words, the BBC agrees with her, so she is moderate, and by extension Trump must be extreme. From where I and many others are sitting, it’s the Democrats who the extremists but I doubt that has ever crossed the hive mind at Broadcasting House.

    They have learned nothing.

    More lesbian propaganda on Toady.
Yesterday, Christmas Day, we were treated to Claire Balding introducing ‘my wife Alice Arnold’ at 8.06am.

Today, Boxing Day, they were quicker off the mark. On ‘Thought for the Day’ at 7.50 am, a rather gravelly voiced presenter delivered their stuff, referring to their female partner. At the end, the presenter was revealed as ‘Jane…’.

Two explicit mentions of lesbian couples on Toady in successive days within 15 minutes of each other. What are the chances of that?

I’m sure that we were taught in the school playground that the term “Appendadicktome” refers to the human appendix and that the correct term for this affliction is Strapadictomy. Of course I’m not an expert in these matters but I’m sure the Reverend Balding knows her stuff. Happy New Year to all and may the Brexit be with you. I foolishly hoped that after the election all but the most extreme of the Remainers would accept that they should now focus on making the future as good as it can be. But judging from the numerous comments in the Times this morning it was a forlorn hope. Instead of accepting defeat remainers are doubling down on their ‘resistance’ , on their refusal to accept the result of several democratic votes in a row and on their loathing of those who voted Leave. They seem to regard membership of the EU in quasi religious terms , something they would be prepared to be martyred for and, worse, something that non agreement with makes you a non person. They have extreme BDS and we should not expect them to be reconciled to the UK decision to leave. These extreme pro EU views are likely to be echoed and supported by the likes of the BBC and the Times. Despite the GE they remain the home of irreconcilable Remainers who are transitioning into indefatigable Rejoiners. Democracy means nothing to them. Boris should make no concessions to try and get them on board. They are beyond redemption or reason and should be treated as rabid dogs.

Doublethinker – A similar thing is happening in the US, where the Democrats couldn’t accept the Clinton defeat, and started on day one with attempts to get Trump impeached. I suspect that project ‘get Boris’ will continue with renewed vigour.
Both here and in the US, there will be no such thing as losing gracefully. Democracy is of no importance, if you can pull a fast one on ‘the enemy’. In the US there is also an attempt to divert attention from Democratic skeletons in the cupboard. One wonders whether Labour have anything to hide? There seems to be a pattern.

I agree. What seems to me to have ‘gone wrong’ to allow these attitudes to have taken hold is that the MSM has to a very large extent moved into the liberal camp. The MSM has been left leaning for years but it is only in the last decade that it has actively colluded and become a prime mover in the liberal progressive project . There is no restraint on the left now , the public in the US know little about the failed coup but know much more about the fake impeachment. At least here the government can take out the BBC if it has the courage to do so. As I have said several times if Boris gives us the tools by decriminalisation and imposing a lowish maximum fine we, the people, will finish the job for him and free us of a BBC paid for by a poll tax .

I’m very glad he didn’t succeed in the plan to make Mr Corbyn the UK leader. I don’t believe Mr Corbyn is evil. I believe he is mistaken but we all have the right to our opinions. Hopefully, that will always be so. THAT, after all, is true diversity and not the shabby stitch up between the Far Left and the various minorities. Just as in African countries they have black majority rule we have white majority rule and the majority have recently made their choice. All that remains now is for the politicians to deliver. Boris has a daunting task.

Lefty, you may not think Corbyn evil. I am not so sure. Soon after he was appointed leader he was being interviewed by Krishna Guru Murphy on Channel 4 news and he was asked an unexpected difficult question. The mask dropped, he was angry at being asked and plain nasty as he started his response, then he remembered the cameras were rolling and the mask returned mid sentence. McDonnell is evil. Full stop.

I have no knowledge whatever of said interview but this word “evil” is thrown around willy nilly, particularly by snowflakes in order to invalidate arguments with which they do not agree. Do we not ALL feel just little uncomfortable and perhaps angry when faced with comments with which we disagree. Mr Corbyn certainly has views with which I will never agree but I would never stoop to pelting the man with rotten eggs. He has his views,I have mine. At the moment my views hopefully prevail and by the time Boris is voted out people will look at you a bit puzzled and ask — Jeremy who?

Yes, the US is in many respects at, boiling point. I think a flashpoint is Virginia where the communists masquerading as Democrats, will be ratifying the intended law for the relinquishment of guns in January. Needless to say, there is strong feeling about this – not unwarranted in the circumstances. Recently the Sherrif’s departments’ broadly stated that they would deputise all gun owners and the commies responded by creating draft legislation that, in effect, means that that actual move by Sherrifs’ departments would result in their dismissal. The commies have pledged to use the National Guard to disarm the Virginian gun owners and gun owners see all this as the start of commies spreading this anti-Constitutional law throughout the US.
It is only now after clandestinely planning for decades that the commies believe they are now in a position to expose themselves and openly push their policies to undermine everything into the open.
It is only a matter of time before open warfare breaks out.

I admire your optimism. The fact remains that at the GE only 47% of the votes went for parties that were explicitly Leave. Put another way over 50% of the votes cast were for parties of the ‘progressive movement’ , Labour, Lib Dem’s, SNP , WN, Greens . The progressive woke folk hold lots of key positions of power , almost all unelected , but they are far from powerless. Admittedly the ordinary folks have mounted a strong push back in recent years against the progressive wokists but it is too early to declare that we have them on the run. Taking out the BBC would be a tremendous victory and at a stroke remove one of their most potent weapons. But does Boris have big enough balls to do it?

The ‘Remain’ vote was split in the GE. I think it would be a mistake to add them together as a block. Also, there were many Leavers who voted Labour out of loyalty to their party.

If Boris does not meet expectations, the Labour converts will drift back to Labour. Especially so if Labour select a leader better than Corbyn (not a difficult task).

Sentry: R4 had a lengthy interview about this subject.
They say two French vessels actually escorted the ‘migrants’ into British waters.
Then we had a breakdown of what happens to them once the Border Force Taxi Service has dropped them off in Britain. They stay, and apply for asylum ‘if they wish’. We have all known this all along. Now we are told it is ‘pressure from Brexit’. How stupid do they think we are?
My prediction is that it will continue and speed up. No genuine effort to stop them. The French are happy to pass them onto us. No one is bothered about the Dublin ‘Agreement’. Treezer signed a certain UN document, so wait till this is waved in our faces…. Virtually every ad we see now on TV reflects ‘diversity’. The ‘softening up’ process?
‘Jesus was also a refugee’. Nice try, but I could write a book on why this is in every respect, a wholly different situation.

We have to face the fact that, not without some historical justification, these people do not like us or our way of life and some wish to destroy us.Our leaders, with the active encouragement of the media, have been naive to the point of stupidity to invite them here in the full knowledge that some could represent a Trojan Horse. We have to ask – who benefits? In the short run the Far Left will realise their agenda. In the long run even they will be hoist on their own petard because they are fools.
