New Decade Thread 1 January 2020

Happy New Year / Decade to all readers and contributors . With a fair wind this decade will see the end of the Far Left Biased BBC . Let’s make it a New Year / Decade Resolution .

If there is one thing which was revealed in 2019 – it was that all the anti Brexit Far Left propaganda heaped on the British Public every day by the BBC counted for very little. That has damaged it beyond repair .

If I’m not mistaken tonight is the night Muslims in Paris run amok torching hard working people cars for fun, and the British media completely ignores what has happened and doesn’t report it.

As I said in the preamble to this Thread Happy New Year . And especially to the trolls who visit the site from time to time to dump a bit of poison on us .

I think regular users of the site should spare a moment for the trolls who will be suffering at the thought of leaving the EU in 31 days followed by a government which can push through the kind of policies which will cause them to despair for 5 years and maybe even more ( they’ll need an 11% swing to get a Corbynite government in 2024/5.

And lastly – a big thanks to a Mr J Corbyn of N1 who made it all possible …..

The opposite of “weak men and indecent women” is ” Strong men and decent women”.

The latter will win, as feminists will submit to strong men, as they do to Muslim man.

Outside journo’s interviewing those on the front line waiting for the fireworks on the Thames, and they were from NorthKorea, China, Ukraine, South Korea, Spain, and Guatamala. Clearly the Brits couldn’t be arsed to get caught up in the madness, as its impossible to get home afterwards.

This letter was in the Christmas edition of the Spectator, and I think it deserves to be widely read:
            Fairy light memory
Sir: I enjoyed James Walton’s review of Elizabeth is Missing (14 December). Sadly I’m now unable to watch television as I have dementia myself, like the character played by Glenda Jackson. While I therefore cannot comment on Walton’s critique, I can stress how happy I am to see dementia getting an airing on national TV.
The disease is one of the biggest social challenges this country, and indeed the world, faces. It is certainly a bummer of a diagnosis and it can strip away your self-esteem. We who have dementia may forget details in the blink of an eye, but emotions remain embedded as they involve a part of our brain often left intact. I’ve already apologised to my daughters for if and when I forget who they are, but I tell them to remember that I’ll always love them.
You may be wondering how I can type this letter. Dementia is a complex disease and experiences of it vary. Imagine the brain as a string of fairy lights, each representing a different function. They flicker on and off; sometimes you can do something one day and not the next. When the lights fail altogether, dementia has won. Until then, the lights turn on and off — that’s why I can type and others can’t; they can cook and I can’t. We’re all different.
I’ve always been a glass-half-full person and I never dwell on what I can’t do. When the fog descends and dementia takes hold, I tell myself: ‘It’s not me, it’s this cruel disease’, and sit quietly until the world makes sense. My mantra is: ‘There’s always a way.’ Dementia may be terminal, but so is life, so I enjoy every moment. If today is a bad day… well, tomorrow may be better.

I’ve actually seen a funny sketch on BBC1 Scotland poking fun at Greta. “At home With The Thunbergs” had her parents making the most of her being in New York by leaving all the lights on “without nip, nip, nip, how dare you”.

    I await the complaints.

    • Doublethinker says:

The BBC producer probably thought that the sketch perfectly illustrated the reason why young folks like Greta are needed to police the wanton behaviour of their parents. No doubt there will soon be an open line which allows children to report their parents, or anyone else for that matter, to the climate police for transgressions such as leaving a light on or a window open, or even more sinister, thinking the wrong thoughts about global warming. After all we are already pretty much at this point about race and gender aren’t we.

It’s New Year’s Eve and it’s always a time of reflection, introspection and decision making. I’ve got a huge decision to make in the next few minutes.
Do I watch Craig David on BBC1, who couldn’t sing if his life depended on it.
There’s Jools Holland on BBC2…as he has been for decades or there’s Alan Carr on ITV…he’s about as amusing as a wart on your arris.
Or, on the other hand, do I just top up my saucepan and get quietly pissed.
    Decisions, decisions…

We turned on the tv for midnight. The BBC with all its bias just seems to lack imagination. Both BBC1 and BBC2 were aimed at who? In the few minutes we saw Craig David said he has been in the business since 2003 so not then aimed at the kids who are probably out partying. Jools had on Rick Astley whose hit was 1987 and then Stormzy. Between both programmes I guess the appeal would be for those arty metropolitan types who go to Glastonbury, ie BBC employees.

Please Boris stop the BBC gravy train soon. Your popularity will grow.

What did we do? Watch a Rumpole (ITV) circa 1970 from a boxed set. You can see John Mortimer’s political leanings, but only just.

      • Doublethinker says:

Agree . If Boris wants to retain the culture and heritage of these islands the first step will be to neutralise the BBC. By decriminalising non payment of the LF and forcing the BBC to work hard to get the money from those who refuse to pay we , the people, will soon have the BBC begging to be allowed to become a subscription only service. The political capital that Boris will have to spend to do it this way will be small in comparison to the cost of a top down ban. Boris give the people the tools and they will slay the beast for you.

The decision to have Craig David “Rock In The New Year” not only contradicted advertising standards but was also a decision of the “meh” variety. He never really “was” in the first place and unlike Rick Astley over on Joolz Holland he hasn’t been subject to a renaissance either.
I didn’t watch but my guess is that his management have “ensured” (cough) he gets onto the BBC as he more than likely has an album to plug. It reminds me of the two singers from the Beautiful South who were all over tv and radio (especially the BB ) a few years back as they plugged their new career. That was summed up by their most high profile appearance at a gig at Edinburgh Castle in which the winners were the mist and drizzle that adversely affected both the atmosphere of the gig and the television broadcast itself. The word Karma sprung to mind and I don’t think their career reboot went anywhere after this either.

It’s a given that that sort of stuff is utter rubbish, Brissles, a sort of noisy, unwanted graffiti!

Thinking of not much yesterday, I was trying to work out exactly what ‘R and B’ really means now. I started to learn about music in the sixties, and The Rolling Stones were, I suppose, a good example, but ‘The Blues’, was a different genre/age, and the rhythm bit just made it more palatable to kids like me, who probably weren’t that interested in understanding all that, having better things to do!

John Peel was far too way out for me, although Radio London was a must-listen-to down here in Sussex/Kent, and it was on too late for me anyway, so I must have missed out on all that!

Scrob, back in the day (60’s) and living in Thanet, it was Radio Invicta that fed our pop music appetite. London was a 2 hour train ride away where it was all ‘happening’, and took even longer on our Lambretta scooters !!! so we had to make do with bopping at Dreamland Margate at the weekends – to music that was danceable and understandable !! 🙂 Happy days, and don’t get me started on New Year’s Eve when it was a free for all snogging session on the dance floor at midnight. This ‘Me Too’ generation would have a touch of the vapours if they could see what granny and grandad got up to back then !

Happy New Year to all of you. I’m looking forward to reading all your posts through 2020.

Now straight back to the reason we are all on here . The BBBC set the bar high straightaway in 2020 with a news headline article…What’s it like to be a black traveller ? I’m sure they must have people there dreaming up this stuff just to annoy the likes of us.
You’ll also note that the most popular recording artists of 2019 are in the main white males. Lewis Capaldi Ed Sheeran (Born in fax) Rod Stewart etc…not a sign of Windy or whatever he is called. Again BBC pushing on us with our money acts we don’t subscribe too. How many listeners to Radio One Extra actually have a TV licence ????
Like my mate says (he has his own garage) he used to look forward to listening to Radio 4 great documentrys , plays and debates now it’s just left wing agenda and he no longer listens.
Hopefully during 2020 someone will fathom that there is a massive market for intelligent non Marxist radio and TV out there with all the attendant advertising streams……which brings me onto the adverts at which point I’ll just say that the white man is extinct in TV and Cinema advertising.
So as a rule of thumb and this is my new year resolution, it is for me not to spend any money with an organisation that does see my sexuality, colour or gender as thier target market.
Have a great New Year my friends.

I’ve been doing the same for a while too, unfortunately as time passes I’ve found that there are fewer and fewer places to shop! Sainsbury’s got the chop last September ish the day I watched a glum faced employee putting up Pride bunting. I have shopped there since but only for their loss leading lunchtime meal deals when I buy the most expensive sandwich, most expensive snack and most expensive drink for £3 and hopefully leave them out of pocket. I certainly won’t entertain a Renault in the family after their highly sexualised lesbian Clio advert, it’s probably easier to list the products I can buy (Toffifee sweets and a front door from Solidor.com) than the ones I can’t because the ad agency are pushing an agenda. All this being said there are signs that times are a changing.

Now, I may be wrong but isn’t Africa a very large continent with vast underground resources? If that IS the case then why is it that so many African people do not wish to stay put and use their ingenuity to exploit those resources for the benefit of themselves and all who live there? Is it that so many people there live in fear for their lives and feel that for the sake of themselves and their offspring, they must get out, or is it that it would be much easier to risk coming to the European continent and exploiting what the white people have built? I cannot help but feel that if Africa had been populated by white people from day one, then the whole continent would today be a far more prosperous place. I certainly disagree with the sentiment that OUR people are “enriched” by a large influx from the African continent. My personal opinion is that it is THEY who are enriched at the white man’s expense and the whites have become a soft touch. Does all that make me a “racist”? I would suggest that I am no more racist than the average black person.Oh, I forgot. It is impossible for a black person to be a racist. What better justification could there be for BREXIT??

Nearly a decade of Tory rule and they must hate it. I remember ten years ago some of them where talking about the GE and it was becoming clear that Labour would lose and there would always be someone chirping in that ‘Labour can still turn things around at this stage surely’

    Morning all and HNY.
Rather late up this morning but caught a sliver of …was it the end of Toady…at around 0850. The BBC news editors… Kuennsberg, Adler et al were in party mood patting each other on the back. But there were a couple of telling moments noted admittedly through my hangover fug.

    1. There will be relentless attacks from the BBC on each and every example of where leaving the EU may be economically disadvantageous. It has still not penetrated their tiny brains that many voted to leave IN SPITE of economic interests. Freedom from the enslavement of the unelected unaccountable smug Brussels bureaucracy was the issue, not whether a trade deal with Outer Mongolia will leave toenail clipper distributors worse off.
    2. I think it was Katya Adler who advised in terms that the role of the reporter was solely to shit stir. No mention of any kind of balance. Just hold the government to account for each and every thing that might go wrong. And thats it. The nation may be doing well but if they can find Mrs Ada Strobes of Weatherby having a bad time then she is the person the BBC will most tell us about.

In other words….New decade. Same old bias.

A New Year but same old crap from the BBC as they get busy rewriting the history of the last ten years…as you know nothing happened before 2010 in the BBC calendar. Wonder what they did with all those glowing and glorious write-ups of a victorious Corbyn voted into power by a desperately grateful electorate, saving the country from a brutal Boris Johnson despotism? Maybe there was a bonfire of the vanities to rival the Aussies’ conflagration…suspect more tears and shirt-wrenching misery in Salford than in the Aussie Outback even as their houses burn.

Chris Warburton on for Emma Barnett, an excellent match, helped to bring the New Year in with a bunch of usual suspects who all parroted the BBC/Guardian line about Boris, Trump and Brexit…all bad…apparently People only voted for Boris because he was the least bad. There was the Guardian’s Sean Ingle, the Sunday Times [and regular BBC contributor] Scarlett Russell and Jo Bunting from the BBC’s HIGNFY….not a fan of Boris of course
    https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m000cnst

Then we get to the main moan…Marr…who seems to think he is about to get sacked for being a useless, biased and incompetent interviewer[lol…if that was the baseline the whole BBC would be out on its ear] and so is raking in the money cobbling together anti-Boris tracts in the commercial wild west….The Spectator and The New Statesman.…so much for the crucial importance of an independent BBC….funny how so many BBC bigshots head to other publications to make their blatantly highly political points and think that’s OK….funny how the BBC allows it as they are clearly using their BBC fame and respect to attract readers…the BBC of course indulges them, like Paul Wood in The Spectator pumping out anti-Trump lies for three years, because it suits their own agenda.

Both his latest rants are self-serving biased tripe, and helpfuly try to put a shine on the Labour turd whilst seeking to excuse himself and damn Boris….amongst other targets like austerity and Brexit of course.

His Spectator article is as baised as they come…

‘Am I to blame for Boris’s war on the BBC?’
‘Judging by briefings to newspapers, Boris Johnson now wants to come after the BBC, first by turning the licence fee into a voluntary contribution. I hope he doesn’t. And if he does, I hope it’s not because I frequently interrupted him the last time he was interviewed on my show. No, I don’t think it was a particularly elegant encounter and I wasn’t happy with it afterwards; but when politicians insist on delivering the same stump speech in response to almost every question, people in my position have a brutal choice. We either lie down quietly on the floor and allow ourselves to be jumped on (painful: Mr Johnson is rather large), or we have to try, somehow, to stop the verbal torrent and get some answers to specific questions, which can get irritatingly tetchy.’

Ermmm..is Boris at war with the BBC or just asking sensible and relevant questions as the majority of people seem to be having doubts about the licence fee funding method….never mind the BBC’s political bias?

Is Marr’s claim that Boris was ‘delivering the same stump speech in response to almost every question’ and thus Marr was right to be tetchy and frustrated right? No, that’s complete nonsense…Boris answered the questions….when allowed to…it was Marr’s constant and aggressive interruptions that stopped the answers flowing not the other way around….judge for yourself…transcript here…

    Click to access 01121901.pdf

Note Marr then going on to praise McDonnell…but of course again rubbish, McDonnell never gives a clear, truthful and specific answer in any interview…but no wonder Marr showers him with love when they are so obviously such great soul-mates as you’ll see from Marr’s next attempt at writing his own version of history in The New Statesman…which again is complete twaddle that proclaims a new dawn in politics when it is nothing new….he writes off austerity as nasty and suggests Boris will be rather sinister…

    ‘The New Right revolution’

You can get a taste of the general drift of his thoughts with this paragraph…

‘Very recently it was common to hear people ask, with a genuine puzzlement, what had happened to the prospect of a mildly centrist, progressive, pro-European political force. The December 2019 election has shattered that possibility, perhaps for ever. The Blairites in the Labour Party are a tiny, uninfluential rump. Their vocal media cheerleaders are an anachronism.[lol…does he mean the BBC? He’d be right] The Europhile progressives who quit their parties have been everywhere rejected, not least because of Britain’s brutal first-past-the-post voting system…As the centre left goes through the agony of reimagining itself, it is at the mercy of Johnson’s world-view. ‘

And here you have the clue as to why the BBC’s coverage was as it was….highly aggressive personal attacks on Boris and his character…the BBC tried to ‘assassinate’ him and portray him as untrustworthy, extreme, a liar and dangerous…because they knew Boris was personally someone the British electorate liked…as well as the brand of politics he represented…

‘The single most important question in British politics today is simply: “Who is Boris Johnson?” Those who retort with the now familiar shorthand – he’s a liar, a buffoon, an entitled, outdated snob, a coward – dismiss him, immediately after his great victory, a little too easily. He has qualities. He is strategic, clever and wily. To underestimate him is to help him. ‘

A mysterious ‘Those’ eh?…..It was the BBC which relentlessly and brutally used that ‘short-hand’ to try and cripple Boris and his campaign….note no such savage portrayals of Corbyn despite his long known and well documented history of cheerleading for terrorists of all kinds, repressive states and anti-Semitism and an economic and political ideology that is proven to be ruinous and oppressive.

It was the BBC that said Brexit was responsible for brutal murders and hate crimes, that Brexit politicians had ‘blood on their hands’, that Britain was a ‘nastier, more racist place’ because of Brexit. A BBC that, however, tells you Islam is a religion of peace despite it being in black and white in the Koran and the Hadiths that it is not and the endless attacks ‘in Islam’s name’…the BBC that ignored Corbyn’s own ‘terrorism’, a BBC that itself cheer-leads the IRA and used the threat of IRA violence to try and stop Brexit.

It is not Corbyn who would have been the tyrannical dictator but the amiable Boris…and disagreeable journalists had better look out…[hmmm…odd how no such warnings about Corbyn who relentlessly threatened the media with ‘change is coming’ and his Momentum bootboys who pour a stream of abuse and threats towards all journalists who don’t parrot the Party line….and even if they do…just to keep them on their toes.

‘What we might see is a Johnson administration trying to amass power in an unusual way – brushing aside any attempted restraints from the courts and parliament, ruling from a very tight inner circle, and acting aggressively towards any non-compliant or questioning media. There are early signs of war against the BBC, but after that many more will be in the firing line. Journalists across SW1 should be cautious about assuming that this will unsettle or in some way offend new Tory voters across the rest of the country.’

Here’s the really telling line though, one that illustrates perfectly how the BBC and liberal[as they see themselves] Intoleratti view those who voted for Brexit and then Boris…..

‘One day, I suppose, we will discover the solution to the Johnson conundrum. In big, simple terms, which way does he go now? Towards a new centre-ground politics, steering from the right, not the left? Or towards English populism: a culture war on behalf of the despised, the left-behind and the politically incorrect, waged against liberals and the younger “woke” of the big cities? ‘

‘The despised’? Who might they be and despised by whom exactly? We know the answer of course as stated above…vote for Brexit and Boris and you’re far-right scum. Are they‘Politically incorrect’ or people who have their own views which are not tolerated and accepted as legitimate by the likes of Marr…who proclaims and labels them politically incorrect when they are perfectly valid, legitimate and justifiable to so many people outside ‘the bubble’.

    Marr even admits this..
‘The future of Britain depends on which door he chooses. His revolution isn’t only a matter of nurses and Brexit; it’s about the tone of public debate, how we regard one another and who we accept as “one of us”.’

The BBC just doesn’t accept Brexit and Boris voters as ‘one of us’…the BBC taking sides….note Marr’s dismissive and perjorative use of the term ‘English populism’….a term that the BBC likes to use in order to conjure to images of the far-right and Nazis marching across Europe once again….#duetobrexit.

Marr defends Corbyn with a wilful blindness even as Labour MP’s tear savagey into Corbyn for running an appalling campaign and making economically illiterate promises of vast spending that no-one found credible…

‘ I don’t believe that Jeremy Corbyn lost the election because of a bad campaign….Nor am I completely convinced that the Labour manifesto was simply too ambitious and too generous to persuade voters. ‘

    More evidence of that blindness…

‘The “youthquake” of 2019 might not have been quite as large as that of 2017, but it was still there. ‘

Even the BBC now admits there was no such ‘Youthquake’ on 2017…

The myth of the 2017 ‘youthquake’ election
‘A surge in youth turnout has often been cited as the reason for Labour’s unexpectedly strong performance in the 2017 election. The trouble is, it seems there was no such “youthquake”, write members of the British Election Study team.’

Marr’s piece goes on and on but utters nary a truth nor anything fresh or genuinely insightful….he claims there is a political revolution but in fact it’s back to the same old two party politics…it’s just that he doesn’t like that…calling first past the post ‘brutal’….not so brutal if Corbyn had won a landslide I’m sure.

Marr attacks austerity, blaming it and the government that introduced it [note no mention of ‘Coalition’] for fracturing Britain and making it a land of poverty and inequality….have to say can’t say I’ve noticed from my viewpoint living in the real world as I do…most people, from all walks of life, seem to have got on with it and ‘survived’ quite nicely.

‘The shape of this revolution should not be a surprise. It began in the years after the 2008 financial crash, when the British state responded by radically restricting spending and, in doing so, greatly exaggerated the gap in life expectations, hope and happiness between the poorest social classes and least invested-in communities, and the rest. A fracture opened up between comfortable and uncomfortable Britain. That crack was then widened when David Cameron imported a plebiscite into British parliamentary democracy. It allowed the first big modern provincial rebellion against metropolitan power – an uprising that was about culture and dignity as well as economic position. ‘

Nice to see he admits Brexit was not actually about economics….which begs the question why the BBC relentlessly concentrated on the supposed economics, the apocalyptic consequences, of Brexit…and still do….Marr unwittingly admitting that Parliament [though he refuses to say ‘Remainers] tried to block Brexit using the trick of saying they were working for the national interest to protect jobs and prosperity…code for Remain…

‘ Meanwhile, parliamentarians, aghast at the economic damage they feared was coming, and helped by a radically minded Speaker, failed to devise a form of Brexit that had majority support.’

In the end this is love-letter from Marr to the Centre-left urging it to
get back out there ‘dating’ again’…put the slap on, gird up their loins and get their profile on ‘Ponder’ the new political party dating site….just don’t right-swipe brothers and sisters.

Marr revealing all too much about his real leanings and the loves of his life.
