Midweek Thread 22 January 2020

With Anthony Hall (director general)leaving the Biased BBC earlier than expected it increases the hope that the new government really is going to take on the bloated broadcaster. Maybe it will kill off the licence tax – or at least give notice that it will be ending soon . We can but hope .

Laurence Fox still causing upset. Here two Guardianistas do what they always do — interpret it as symbolic of the forces of oppression.

Still a total lack of comprehension that people are not busy forming anti-woke cells of resistance like some furtive student movement, they’re just weary in their souls. The possibility never registers.

I doubt neither OJ nor Ms O’Hagan could buy a pint of milk without seeing it as a revolutionary act.

Norway’s populist party has quit the country’s governing coalition over a decision to allow a suspected “Isis bride” to return from Syria.

Finance minister Siv Jensen said there had been “too many compromises” as she announced her right-wing Progress Party would step down.

Their policy is that sink children can return
but that ISIS mothers should not be able to use their children as a shield to get back into Norway.

He was mentored by Laurens van der Post. That could explain a lot. Regardless, as soon as he said he wouldn’t be the Defender of the Faith, but the Defender of Faiths, it became apparent to me that he’s not fit to be King.

This extract from an article in 1996 from the Toilet Paper of Record, is quite telling:

” In his later years, Sir Laurens became a mentor to the Prince of Wales and to former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. He was knighted in 1981. Sir Laurens was influential in the development of the Prince’s interest in non-Christian religions and nontraditional life styles.”

There was an interesting piece on the BBC this morning that had all the luvvies fawning.
There’s a new Beeb version of David Copperfield and the casting has been “colour blind”. So, essentially, what we’re going to have foist upon us is the woke distortion of numerous classics, like the atrocious pig’s ear they made of A Christmas Carol, late last year.
This latest Dickens masterpiece they have seen fit to mutilate will be stocked with black, brown and mixed race actors. Apparently it’s good for diversity, don’t you know.
How is it though, that if some white woman puts braids in her hair, or a white chef cooks “jerk chicken” a whole load of black lefties go berserk screeching about “cultural appropriation”? Isn’t this a whole lot worse? Has anyone heard from David Lammy?
Still, in the interests of inclusivity and diversity, I look forward to seeing Lenny Henry popping up in a new edition of Brideshead Revisited. He’s not quite as pretty as Anthony Andrews, but…
Perhaps we might see Idris Elba playing Mr Darcy in a Beeb production of Pride and Prejudice, with maybe Meera Syal as an Indian Mrs Bennet.
And of course that offers us the chance of seeing someone like Ray Winstone or Dennis Waterman playing Nelson Mandela.
    Or maybe not…

I have to admit that when I went and saw ‘1917’ they played the trailer for the dusky David copperfield and I felt my jaw dropping before sniggering to myself . It wasn’t exactly David Lean .

Just back from watching 1917, we were treated to the ready-made chimney sweep Copperfield too. I thought all those Africans were supposed to have a rich culture of their own, but apparently not, as they need to be shoe-horned into ours.

Some thoughts on 1917: The visuals were well done but did we need the deafening ‘music’? The story was very unlikely, there must have been communication links back from the front lines so why not use them? What about those aircraft? Couldn’t they drop a message? How come the rat didn’t self-destruct earlier? Very bad luck with the crash landing – all that space! The German sniper must have been firing boomerang bullets! Would a senior officer really have a dug-out right on the firing trench? “Men, I’m right behind you, five-miles behind you!”

I think I need to see 1917 again before I review it to myself . Having had a grandfather who was ‘in’ from 1913 to 1919 in France I still cannot understand how he survived – and he was very tall….

Anyway the thing I’m glad about with 1917 was that there were no token yanks winning the war as usual – even with spielbergs production company with its fingers on the profits .

I must admit that I started to look out for all those tinted faces after a while, that’s what the BBC and the advertising industry does for you!

I know that ‘Empire’ troops served with distinction but I don’t think that the army practiced modern-day ‘diversity’ by mixing everyone up. The chances are that most, if not all, of ‘the Devons’ would have been from Devon.

You are right, there were no Yanks, but didn’t the producers get the ‘Germany is our EU partner’ memo?

If you stayed to watch the credits you might see there are more names than on the Menin Gate!

It’s a bit like the Churchill film that came out a year or two back. They had him wandering up and down a tube train chatting to random passengers; some of them West Indian. It’s just PC nonsense.
Mind you, I’m just relieved they’ve not got around to depicting Churchill as being a little “tinted”.

The Beeb can do what they like – as can the film industry – if ever a film is played on the radio, because only voices are heard, so who gives a fig what race or colour they are when standing at a mic with script in hand playing a character.

Film and tv are a visual medium so all the good intentions of directors who just want the ‘best person for the job’ flies out of the window. The paying public all know their history, and had we grown up knowing and reading that David Copperfield was black/Asian then so be it, but he wasn’t, anymore than Jane Eyre was written as an afro Caribbean ! So for all the preaching by directors and the liberal minded who want diversity in all things, our brains tell us IT IS WRONG !

Dev Patel is an excellent actor, and apparently told the director that in another version of David Copperfield he would be stood in the background holding the tea tray. Well history cant be rewritten for the sake of diversity, but we’ll see how the film fairs with the public when it opens next week.

It cant be racially blind because like the BBC under Lord Hall. The race relations industry and its liberal left-wing identity politics have introduced a highly bureaucratic Racial, Sexual and Disabled quota system to all programming except Womans Hour and the Asian Network. It fit’s the mindset of the Marxist. The black actors are more important than the customers. Real World acting parts for black actors are far to derogatory. So we have a situation were Cultural appropriation of the Black African dress code in Tarzan by a white actor is wrong, but all Black actors must be seen to Culturally appropriate the white European dress code. On the BBC, both Black Actors and White Actors must dress in the same European dress code. For White Actors it is racist Cultural appropriation if they don’t, and for Black Actors, it is derogatory for them not to be seen to Culturally appropriate white European culture.

I think the above are the unwritten rules of the BBC mindset on Race and Race relations.

Maybe the muslim 5 pillars of ‘wisdom’ are more to their liking:

        “The Five Pillars consist of:
Shahadah: sincerely reciting the Muslim profession of faith.
Salat: performing ritual prayers in the proper way five times each day.
        Zakat: paying an alms (or charity) tax to benefit the poor and the needy. { Is this the TV Tax protection money, perhaps}
Sawm: fasting during the month of Ramadan.
Hajj: pilgrimage to Mecca.” referenced in google as from the racist far-left bbc.

It will only be ‘colour blind’ in so far as the director will be presented with a list of approved names, otherwise he could theoretically choose from all the acting profession which has far more of the hated white actors than any other.

One thing you can be certain of is that there will be a massive over representation of ethnics.

The government should now seriously look at ID cards.

      No they shouldn’t!

Technology now exists for fingerprint recognition – not the skin print but through different layers beneath the skin. This is what the government should be using.

Want a provisional driving licence ? then you need a fingerprint scan and that will be read at the test centre to check you are the holder and haven’t paid someone to take it for you.

Want a visa to come to Britain? Fingerprint scan will show you are the person who applied, when you entered the country and when you left or when you didn’t, and it will identify you as an illegal immigrant.

Claiming asylum? Fingerprint scanning will tell which flight you came into Britain on you can’t just throw your passport away and then claim you are from a qualifying country! Plus if you come in on a people smugglers passport he will quickly be identifiable and arrested.

Think it might be a good idea to vote multiple times ? Think again because fingerprint recognition will identify you and nullify voting fraud.

Want to get NHS treatment you’re not entitled to ? FIngerprint scanning will identify if you actually are.

Yes it would cost some money, but it is a very efficient method of securing our borders, stopping identity theft, fraud of all kinds, and no one ever resents carrying their fingers with them !

I think this ‘news’ is a manifestation of how terrified are the racist far-left bbc of the Conservative government.

I wonder if it’s just a typical bbc knee-jerk reaction; popular push-back of their reprehensible behaviour and mind-set, is acknowledged by government ministers, who murmur some non-specific threats. This prompts the hive to sacrifice one of their own to try to persuade us that they are not really incorrigible hate-mongers and race-baiters, and they will really, really do better in the future. Just please don’t attack us any more.

Look, the lefties hate us. So we must be getting it about right ( or whatever platitudinous drivel they expel from their serpent mouths).

Given the generally un-contested view that more diversity equals more happiness, it’s interesting to see that according to Rightmove the happiest place to live in Britain is Hexham in Northumberland, and the second happiest Harrogate in N. Yorkshire.

Having been lucky enough to live in both these lovely places I can see why. I have to admit though that these findings should be widely condemned as racist. As Jon Snow would undoubtedly say – you will never see so many white people in one [or two] place[s].

The survey went on to say: The South West was deemed the happiest region. . . The West Midlands was the least happy. (Shurely shome mishtake?)

In the old days before science was destroyed by left-wing activists. World leaders used to listen to Atmospheric Physicists like Richard Lindzen.

But now they listen to the Child Prophet, Greta Thunberg, a false Prophet who falsely claims the gift of prophecy to speak for Gaia. A false Prophet is a Prophet who makes such claims for evil ends. Often, someone who is considered a “true prophet” by the BBC, but simultaneously considered a “false prophet” by others. In a wider sense, it is anyone who, without having it, claims a special connection to the Earth Deity and sets herself up as a source of spiritual authority on Mother Nature.

Timeline of the rise and fall of the scientific method:

27 — At the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus says “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves”.

1212 — The Children’s Crusade ends in disaster.

1265 — Roger Bacon, inspired by the writings of Grosseteste, described a scientific method, which he based on a repeating cycle of observation, hypothasis, experimentation, and the need for independent verification. He recorded the manner in which he conducted his experiments in precise detail so that others could reproduce and independently test his results.

1650 — Experimental evidence established as the arbiter of truth by the Royal Society.

1989 — Experimental evidence abandoned as the arbiter of truth by the Royal Society.

2007 — The BBC replaces its best scientific experts with environmental activists.

2019 — Atmospheric Physicists replaced by a Child Prophets who go on Climate Crusades and School Strikes.

2020 — Child Prophet, Greta Thunberg, angrily tells World leaders “Our house is still on fire, your inaction is fuelling the flames by the hour”

@Fedup2 – There was an article in the Sunday Times (August 18th, 2019) by Dominic Green, The Plot to Forge a Climate Warrior. I don’t have a paywall subscription but I saved the piece.
Greta, the story goes, was ‘accidentally’ discovered by Ingmar Rentzhog, founder of a social media platform, ‘We Don’t Have Time’ as she was on a one girl school strike outside the Swedish Parliament. He posted her on FB and it went viral. This is not the whole truth as he had previously met her mother at a Climate Conference in Stockholm. Rentzhog is involved with Al Gore’s environmental group, the Clinton Reality Project.
Quote ‘..the Greta phenomenon has also involved green lobbyists, PR hustlers, eco academics and a think tank founded by a wealthy former minister in Sweden’s Social Democratic government with links to the country’s energy companies’.
‘For energy titans in Sweden, as elsewhere, saving the planet means Government contracts to print the green stuff. Green energy lobbyists are using populist scare tactics and a children’s crusade to bypass elected representatives’.
It always comes down to money in the end!

Perhaps the BBC should have a

‘people’s taxpayer referendum ‘ on the programmes to be culled ?
Or projects to be stopped based on their cost ?

Or presenters to be fired based on pay ?

They could even turn it into one of those hopeless celebrity nights they do with red noses and teddy bears . ?

As I write this ‘pitch’ I could get a few hundred thousand out of BBC studios for the concept .

It’s heartwarming to know that the BBC really has to ‘downsize ‘ output but a cynic might suggest that ‘popular demand ‘ will get the decision reversed and a real target for the chop ended instead . Perhaps the Andrew Neal show or some other programme worth watching ( although I can think of any ).

Charles Dickens was one of the foremost English writers of the Victorian era. His work documented much of what life was like at the time and he achieved great acclaim for the accuracy and detail in his work…

His work include David Copperfield the story of an English boy growing top at the time.

So what a good story worth making into a TV programme?

So lets hire an Italian Director to skew the story by re-moulding the main character to fit our newly “Woke” era.

“I just want to choose the best person for the part”

Director Armando Iannucci tells Victoria why he chose to be ‘colour-blind’ in his casting of Dev Patel – a British actor of Indian heritage – in the titular role of his David Copperfield adaptation.

Fed, ti & Guest, Deben was dropping dark hints about so-called ‘chlorinated chicken’, I thought, while not actually mentioning Trump and Brexit out loud. Deben is actually advocating importing & eating more American beefburgers. If McDonalds – which used to be, maybe still are, are manufactured in the US and flown out to nations with McD Stores every day for quality control and freshness reasons – then Lord Deben is reducing meat consumption but advocating consuming extra air miles. (A burger is actually quite a healthy way to consume a mix of minimal meat, grains, egg, essential fibres and fats. So I’m told by dieticians.)

The essential point Justin put to him (JustRemainIn was in full-on ‘Waitrose-mode’ and refered only to almond milk, avocados and vine tomatoes) showed up the folly but Lord Deben batted it away with a ‘Buy British’ reply.

What Justin did not ask – and should have done – is that if British consumers eat less meat, they will need other things to remain nourished. Vegetable and grain crops require relatively flat land, lots of water, fertilisers, insecticides and extra intensive use of ….. umhhh …. er …. whisper who dares … fossil fuel burning machinery.

      Ooops!

The ward was choc full of fancy stuff : each bed was a clever electric bed, with a TV/telephone media centre above it
        – The ward pod was emptied at weekends.
There was a thing where the nursing team and doctor team were at odds with each other.
The nurses told relatives the discharge day would be Friday
Then on the Wednesday the doctor came round and told the aged patient she would be discharged that day. Relatives turned up knowing nothing, they tracked down a doctor who confirmed that ..then a nurse came at overruled the doctor and kept the patient in an extra day.
A few days earlier after the operation the patient was supposed to be on liquids only, but the hospital poisoned her, cos the food team came round and offered her cauliflower cheese which she in her drugged up state accepted, but they actually gave her sausage casserole ..which she dutifully ate
… her stomach was not ready for solid food so she threw up all her stomach acids and had to be fed by drip.
All that caused pain and meant 3 days longer in hospital than planned.

Point well taken Jeff. Once again we are being shot with the Catastrphic Alarmist Climate Change Cult-for what it is. They ignore popular discontent while placing themselves above the law.
It is in this volatile climate that they push the greatest con game ever concocted: man-made global warming. This is the hubris that brings empires crashing down.
Like any confidence scheme, global warming rests entirely on misdirection and bad faith.
While Western governments create hundred-trillion-dollar programs for fighting the weather, they have (1) never scientifically established that man’s use of hydrocarbon energy causally leads to temperature change of any kind, (2) never articulated some baseline climate ideal for the planet, and (3) never produced a cost-benefit analysis detailing the loss in human life and standard of living required in order to impose upon the world the type of global command-and-control economy necessary to restructure all industry and commerce.
These three pillars are so fundamental that a normal person could be forgiven for assuming they’ve long ago been calculated. That’s part of the con.
The science isn’t settled. Nobody has decided whether to green the Sahara or bury Scandinavia in more snow, whether we’re pursuing the Roman Warm Period of two thousand years ago or the Little Ice Age that ended in the nineteenth century. No government has admitted that the Green Dream will destroy populations and make modern conveniences future luxuries for only the wealthiest survivors. How do you convince your citizens you have their best interests at heart when nothing could be farther from the truth? You prey on their weaknesses with a three-tailed hustle on a global scale. And so the charade goes on.

BBC: ‘Victoria Derbyshire Show to come off air as part of BBC cuts’

Apologies if posters hereabouts have already addressed this story but I see a day later it is still on the front page of BBC on-line news (purporting to have been just ‘2h’ old, mind you).

This is of course a classic move by the Beeb. Just as a Lefty local council with massive senior staff costs on their books will opt to create a hoo-ha by announcing the closure of some ancient and locally cherished branch library. Then hope to rally support from the naive against sensible and reasonable government cash restraints. The Lefty council shouting Cuts!

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-51214425

Notice how the BBC tack the emotive word ‘cuts’ onto the end of their headline. In fact they have an inflation-busting Licence Fee deal presently in place. Their budget problems are largely due to their own bad management. Castrating their premium money making franchise Doctor Who for woke reasons for instance.

Notice how they chose a female interest show to threaten to close causing a women’s issue as a rallying call, hopefully clouding the fact their main current overspend is going to be on greedy female BBC employees.

Notice how reliable company man and lefty-minded Amol Rajan comes out to bat for the BBC giving the agreed company line.

Notice how various lefty-minded celebs and politicos will be co-opted into support for our Vicky Derbyshire hence being gathered under the pro-BBC banner.

This campaign will likely fly for a week or two then the Beeb will relent and the propaganda push will renew with VD Show saved by a caring BBC management headline.

By the way, they lost my sympathy with ‘award winning’.

Indeed the Holocaust the killing of millions of Jews by one way or another was a terribel inditment against man. One can well understand that they would not want something so awful to fade away into history, however let us not forget the most terrible invasion of the Japanese during WW2, and the unspeakable utterly inhumain treatment of both their military captives but also the millions of civilians of many nationalities that were butchered by the Jap soldiers. One Hospital in Singapore its Doctors, Nurses, and patients all slaughtered without mercy. I had family and close friends now all dead that suffered on the Burma Railway. We must not treat this atrocity against millions of humans any less than what was carried out in Germany against the Jews-and let us not forget that thousands upon thousands of non Jews were also slaughtered by the Nazi’s as well as the Russians. Our young people should be better advised on their history-so often I am appalled at the lack of knowledge by the young (18-40) that know so little of the past that will and is dictating their futures.

I suspect inside the BBC things are a bit in turmoil. Apart from the DG being made to walk the plank, the website seems to have transformed into a copy of Hello Magazine. I think its possible that lots of BBC journo’s are currently undergoing “rethink training” so not producing the fairy tale crap as usual.

So we are told that the gobby long-bailey refuses to have anything to do with anyone who votes Conservative.

Maybe we need a new hate crime or word? In the current vogue can I suggest “Politist” or maybe “Partyist” or if its only needed one way then what about “Toryist”

I had to do a bit of Googling as I got confused.
So, Laura Pidcock the Labour MP for West Duham , known hereabouts as Consett, lost her seat in the last Election and coincidentally herself said ‘Whatever type they are, I have absolutely no intention of being friends with any of them’ when referring to Conservatives. For everyone’s information, Consett is as economically deprived a once thriving area as you’re likely to find. I remember when the gutters were filled with orange iron oxide dust and the whole town was employed at the steelworks. Those steelworks are long gone, replaced by open fields and new housing estates with preserved items of heavy industry on proud display in memoriam of what Consett once was. In short, as fertile a breeding ground for Labour as one could find and held exclusive by Labour since the seats creation in 1950. All lost by a yooni educated young woman in her early 30s so stupid that she would publicly say she’s never be friends with a Tory.
And now Long Bailey says the same? Learn from recent history much Rebecca. By all means fill your boots but people are not defined by gender, skin colour, sex, sexual preference, or political belief. And the general public know that and look what they did to that idiot Pidcock.
Yes, I hope the bigot Long Bailey wins, it’ll shoe the Conservatives in for the foreseeable future.

There is a pattern methinks. Party’s selecting on the basis of any condition – as opposed to ability – leads to failure . I’m not just talking about Labour either .

I know the world doesn’t work on fairness or ability – so when someone comes along who has ability – at the right time – such as with Thatcher or FDR one can see the difference .

I’ve worked for people who ‘don’t do detail ‘ and seen that the result is waste of time effort and money and consequent failure .

But failure can often be ignored , those making the decision have moved on and could care less anyway . Those who made the effort to complete a project shrug their shoulders as they see the failure coming .

We ll see if the likes of Dom Cummings has the ability to steer his bosses away from the kind of stuff I’ve described – whether it’s 4G , HS2 , elderly social care , the always failing NHS and of course the enemy of this site .

Piddock, Nugee , Wrong Daily and that now countless number of basically thick labour politicians should , with a bit of luck , end their Party .

As an aside Andy Neal had a chat with Lady Nugee last night on his show . She has no new policy . She defended sending her kids to a ‘selective ‘ posh school by trying to use the ‘poor background ‘ defence . It was quite funny . Her heart isn’t in it but she likes the ‘fame ‘. Didn’t mention her constituents once in 25 minutes ….

Isn’t Ian Blackford, Scots Nazi, the epitome of a thick politician? From his antics in the HoC, he has no self-awareness and no shame. Surely, there are other Scots Nazi MPs who can see he’s harming their party; why don’t the tell him to shut up? Or is he such a bully, they are all afraid of him?

The BBC are trying hard to push a connection between George Orwell’s thoughts on oppressive state control and Boris’s Government.

Anyone who has ever bothered to read his books, and I have read and re-read them all many times, will know that the state propaganda machine and big brother with all the lies and mind-control group-think, good is bad – bad is good stuff he referred to WAS in fact the BBC…. He obviously worked there long enough to see it at work!

There really is NOTHING they won’t twist and use for their own purposes, for instance their re-imagining of old English literature to fit the new woke ideal just like Orwell’s sinister state-masters. In fact Winston, the main character in 1984 was employed to rewrite literature to fit the new ideology, just what the BBC are up to now with Dickens work in fact! The quicker they follow their ex-DG out of the door and are consigned to history, the better….
