The EU Free Thread 31 January 2020

It has been 1316 days since the EU referendum . In that time – and before – we have witnessed the biased Far Left BBC running anti brexit stories every day all the time; and it has failed . It may show the decline of the BBC on shaping and influencing public thinking and public life . Let’s celebrate a new sort of Freedom .

You don’t think perhaps they’re reflecting carefully about N Ireland?

I think the Irish want out of the EU just as much as we do/did. Didn’t they give the wrong answer twice in their referendums?

Tell them we want Ceuta and Melilla before we enter into negotiations with the EU.
We’ll also need to demand the French give us their colonial remnants.

Settled down to relax with poetry on R4 at 4.30 , as I have for many years.
    But guess what?
Gwendoline from Chicago has come on to tell us why all our history books should reflect the BLACK experience. Off switch. Already switched off the drama at 3.00 which sounded like something from Nigeria. Admittedly, I only caught a snatch, so perhaps I’m doing someone an injustice. The only white voice was shouting: ‘go home to where you came from’ or something like that. Typical bbc propaganda, it sounded like.
If I wanted all of this stuff I would move to Chicago or Nigeria. But I don’t; this is Britain.
I want something like Milton, Donne, Herbert, Shakespeare, Bronte, Keats, Byron, de la Mare, TS Eliot, WB Yeats, WH Auden, Wordsworth, Blake, Shelley, Larkin, Hughes, Plath, Heaney, Thomas, or Armitage. If this means for the bbc I’m a racist, so be it. Why do I have to have a series on the black Chicago experience foisted on me?
And the bbc actually expect me to pay a licence fee for ruining my Sunday afternoons?
    Don’t make me laugh.
Especially not when I feel more like crying for the slow erosion of British culture devised by the powers that be at the beeb.

Fakenewswatcher, This poetry programme may have been what I heard a short part of. A clear image of victim culture constantly being portrayed. One child complaining why she should have to learn about black culture outside of the regular curriculum. All quotes were about these children being black and poor and why it was unfair that they had to do additional work to achieve.

I thought about the Jews of Eastern Europe who were a minority group and poor. Those that survived the Holocaust had a pretty rubbish time (understatement) and many were in deep poverty prior to the Nazis, but they worked hard to achieve. They could have spent their lives complaining of being victims but they didn’t. But the same applies today. Many of the Jews who live in Stamford Hill in London, under government definitions live in poverty. The children have to learn their Judaism outside regular classes. There is family breakdown etc but overall there is strong family bonds and community. But the BBC and the Left don’t identify these Jews as victims and nor would I suggest do they themselves. But it would have been a cheaper programme than sending someone to the United States.

Because all these middle class Lefties identify blacks as victims it is easy for the community to believe it too. It does them no favours.

        Deborah – Agreed.
You don’t have to look far for English victims.
The beeb’s ‘Countryfile’ showed us a (white) couple who can’t afford to retire from the post office at The Lizard. He is 75 and in poor health. They have been working there forever, it seems. Apparently there are plenty like them.
But they don’t fit the current ‘victim’ culture. Wrong profile. For starters, they’ve been working for a living. Out of fashion?
Why don’t we first help our own instead of adopting the world?
When did that become a sin?

You gotta laugh…the BBC was so desperate to give the IRA a voice that they voiced their propaganda for them.

The BBC is so desperate not to give Boris a platform that they don’t allow him on and voice his words instead.

The BBC prioritising IRA terrorists but not the British Prime Minister.

    How not so very odd.

Both BBC and Sky can only find one witness (to speak on camera anyway), and his name ? Kaka Tahir. Couldn’t understand a word he was saying on BBC, so turned over to Sky, and bugger me he was holding court there as well !!! bad enough there aren’t any white British born left in London, but it comes to something when there aren’t any to find to interview by the news channels.

(hmmmm just realised, that doesn’t make a whole lot of sense – but you know what I mean)

On a more light hearted note, another example of the increasing irrelevance of the BBC.
After a bit of a lie in this morning I came downstairs to find my son watching the men’s tennis final from the Australian Open on Eurosport. It was a great match with Novak Djokovic coming from behind to win his eighth title. So I had a shower and did some odds and ends and saw that someone had switched to a BBC channel showing highlights of the Australian Open. Basically bits of a match played earlier that day. ….after I’d watched the final match and knew how it ended. Pointless.

Just before 6pm heard the last 5 minutes of a profile of Mike Pompeo by Ed Stourton on Radio 4. Save anyone having to listen, I can sum it up. He is Republican. The BBC don’t like him.

Monbiot is the sort of right-on prick who lazily equates Brexit with xenophobia.

I would like to trade freely with the whole world, not just the EU. And I would like not to be ethnically cleansed from my own country by my own government.

Not too much to ask, is it?
