There are plenty of signs that the Far Left biased BBC is rattled by lack of public support for the propaganda it regularly throws out to those who have to pay for it. Some might say it is too late to try to reform it and more radical change is needed . It’s not ‘Aunty’ any more …

Hadn’t you noticed? the number of fatalities has dropped significantly since Ms Dick announced another, ‘clamp down’ (not)…………
That would be, ‘Our, Cressi, “I am convinced we are doing the right things,…’ Dick.
However, conflicting reporting on the subject:

Climate extinction prophesies
.. you can see which ones have passed
at https://www.extinctionclock.org/
BTW you may remember that James Cook University illegally sacked Dr Peter Ridd for calling out the bad science in the university’s climate activist department.
16 APRIL 2019 He won in court and was awarded $1.2m damages
With unlimited public funds the university put in for an appeal
and cynically they have pushed the court date back to May 2020

‘Bottom line: the climate activists are decisively winning. The science no longer matters in the public policy debate. Activists have moved beyond it and the major science institutions no longer defend it against the activists’ exaggerations and misrepresentations…’
‘ This is a moral panic. Once the leaders of society embrace it (for their own purposes), it becomes a virulent epidemic. Like a zombie apocalypse, those scientists in its path had only three good options: flee, collaborate, or hide’..
‘Now even Nature and the hard-core alarmist BBC says this. But RCP8.5 – and more broadly, climate science – no longer matter. The debate has moved beyond science to the exaggerations of the Climate Emergency and the fictions of the Extinction Rebellion. It is all politics and mass hysteria..

Those who support the overthrow of Capitalism, Monarchy, Conservatism seem to prefer Electric Cars. At least they (Lefties) would – if they could afford them, by and large they can’t (unless they happen to work for a big Corporation like the BBC) as a vanity act of showmanship. It won’t save the planet, but who cares?
Those that think Electric Cars are great (includes myself) but I am not blind to the problems and the cost of the appalling batteries that are literally ‘explosive’ on contact with water. Collisions at speed (think Motorway) or a pile up will not end well. So I am wary when you factor in some of the consequences that will happen when we all go ‘all electric’ instead of (far superior) Hydrogen fuel cell which is (alas) even more expensive.
Here are the problems for the UK to face in electrifying all transport by 2050
We would need all the Cobalt used in the World (an entire two year supply)! the Worlds entire supply of Neodymium, three quarters of all the world’s Lithium production and half of all the worlds supply of Copper. (Reported in The Times Letters page).
I could go on to say that we would need four to seven new Atomic power stations to provide enough base power to charge, trains, planes and Cars, if all went electric. (as Boris seems to want)
Its a tall order. The average battery has a life span no longer than your mobile phone (two year is best and four years is about max). 40% of the value of an electric car is the cost of the battery alone. ‘Tesla’ may have an advantage on that or a lower technological jump on everybody else, but the power requirements do not change.
On the plus side it is possible to create your own electricity, I.e. to have your own mini power station. This technology produces heat and electricity and runs of ‘natural gas’ or Methane to give its proper name, which is a (soon to be banned) fossil fuel. Another possibility is burning UK Coal to produce enough Gas which can be then converted to run an engine to produce electricity for your car. As we already use Diesel generators for back-up power for our many (subsidised) UK windmills (will keep some of the trains running), so it keeps everyone happy (as long as you offset the CO2 of the Diesels by buying C02 Carbon credits so you can call this entire enterprise ‘carbon neutral’ which of course, it won’t). And then C02 has nothing to do with Climate Change either.
But that is what it takes to keep BBC Alarmist happy (in total ignorance of the cost). I am reminded of this absurdity when recently an well known Airline (I think it was an Irish low cost one) claimed that it was 100% carbon neutral (suddenly). That is the secret of ‘Carbon Credits’, if you ‘Offset’ your (estimated) carbon to a third world country (in return for hard cash) they then ‘sell you’ fresh air’. Carbon Dioxide is just one constituent of fresh Air. Essential for plant growth and a useful by product.. Bread for instance!
BP (Today) said they were going to do that also. Have they ALL gone totally mad?
The cost of (CARBON CREDITS) is totally ‘made-up’ and overseen by cretins in the EU as a ‘marvellous cure’ for all and sundry. It won’t save the Planet, will make everything twice as expensive and many of us will never be able to afford an Electric car. I guess that’s the point. No private cars (at all) as Electricity will have to be rationed. This will be more severe for the EU (and Germany) than here. Germany car making will take a nose dive.
The future may be electric. But it will have a multiplicity of problems, many or which will be the relatively short life of batteries and impossible to recycle. Hydrogen fuel cells are far better but also rather more ‘explosive’ than Petrol. But I think we in the UK can do this, just as we also invented the first Lithium batteries (but were later developed in America) as our crackpot politicians would not fund development. See how easily they offer to pay pointless ‘carbon credits’ for (impossible). Zero emmisions which can never happen (nor should we want them too) We are all Carbon based life forms! I guess that’s the point (also) zero population growth is the reason for all of these absurd Climate claims, a policy endorsed by the EU and UN to SAVE THE PLANET! Its called UN Agenda 21. Unfortunately we are still signed up for it.

I remember a low-speed collision on a blind corner between a large Volvo estate and a battery-powered milk float. The car’s battery and remains of the nearside light unit was pushed back level with the windscreen, the engine replaced the passenger seat and driver survived with two broken legs.
Aside from a quantity of broken bottles the milk float was hardly marked.
How will conventional cars fare against similar brick-wall opposition?

Of course agree with much of what you say Phillip-2, but I cannot reconsile how the roads are to be cleared of Petrol/Diesel vehicles by 2030 or even 2050. What is or will be the policy for getting rid of the millons of present vehicles? Thousands of vehicle owners will not be able to afford to just dump their present car or vehicle for an all electric one. As an aside why are certain carspresently exempt from paying road tax, when they enjoy all the benefits of the roads as other motorists? They may not be the best roads but they are still available to them to use-Absolute nonsence. Yes Hydrogen maybe an aswer as was in fact suggested years ago by a Motoring Journalist Quinten Wilson. If Hydrogen was to be used how long would it take before the usage became an actual?

Step 1. Raise the cost of petrol and diesel by eye watering amounts.
Step 2. Forced closure of petrol stations and those left to be in inconvenient locations with restricted opening times.
Step 3. Raise the road tax by a lot each year.
All the while placing propaganda in the MSM about the pleasures of public transport.

j-i-c, problem with doing things like that at Treasury is that it provokes a long-term response. In the meantime, all the dosh coming in has spending Ministers salivating and splashing the cash on their pet projects. Then comes the response from the taxpayer. The income disappears faster than dawn mist on a summers day and austerity beckons.
In addition, all the while you suffer inflation from the early tax rises. That also raises the cost of Government. The smart thing to do (three years ago would have been a good time to start) is to move tax from road fuels back to income. You then reduce inflation to zero or even negative levels which in turn reduces the costs of everything including to and of Government.
When the oil companies find the marginal costs of deep extraction are not exceeded by sufficient profits, they will start to leave the stuff under the sea. They will not bother pulling it out of the ground.
Then the world will quickly discover how some of it has been really, really, stupid.

tarien, the diesel and petrol cars will continue to be used until there is no easily accessible fuel to be had. At that point only classic cars and buses will be run on ‘bio’ fuels and then only on special occasions due to the limited supply of fuel.
If you want to keep motoring long after 2035 then buy a diesel car and a fish & chip shop in 2034. 😉

Agree with your comments.
Having worked in the motor industry for many years I think the push for ” Electric Only ” is a mistake . There is so much more development that can be carried out with conventional engines . Injection technology has moved on with the likes of Delphi in the Uk with clean burn and almost zero soot particles from diesel . Big diesel engines in ships and commercial vehicles are going to be difficult to replace with batteries ….we will have to wait and see . Cobalt and all the other minerals being mined will disappear faster than oil and probably destroy the planet faster. Years ago Ford invested millions in Hydrogen fuel cells research they are obviously sat on that for now

Charlie, when I was a lad the thermal efficiency of a petrol engine was ‘orrid: something like 23-25%. The Drag CoEfficient (Cd) wasn’t much better. I noticed a few years ago that car magazines no longer quote the Cd in new car tests.

“The Campaign Against Antisemitism has made a formal complaint to the BBC, and threatened to refer the matter to Ofcom, which regulates the corporation. There is something sinister afoot at the beeb. Having done more than anyone to create division in society, eg by demonising its despised opponents in the Brexit / conservative camp, the beeb has the nerve to start preaching the merits of moderation and fairness to us (possibly sensing the cold winds of change coming its way):
“Why ‘cartooning’ political opponents is bad for us.”
Having waged war on so many fronts against the ‘sensible Right’ for decades – a war they are beginning to lose – they suddenly want to don the mantle of honest broker between Remainers and Brexiteers, Snowflakes and Gamons, Republicans and Democrats.
This would be like Hitler in early 1945 declaring to Churchill: “Let’s just say we BOTH made mistakes, and shake on it”.
NO. You lost. Now you must pay.
They even have the gall to illustrate their slimy article with a photo of the Trump blimp… like the one they had in their news studio to mock Trump during his visit!!

Actually now the html Twitter blurb tag does refer to the Farage image

Exactly so. If I had my way the BBC employees without exception would be sent to re-education camps and the BBC re populated with centre right employees who refused to allow any favourable comment on Wokism, Globalism, the EU, diversity, immigration , global warming and also refused any negative comments on Nigel Farage, Boris, Tommy R, England , Lady T, Populism, President Trump , Salvini, Le Pen., Wilders, Enoch Powell etc. Thirty years of this approach would just about equal the track record of the BBC.
But living as we do in a very tolerant and generous country I expect that the very most we will get is a BBC funded by subscription and even that may not happen.

NG – free speech used to exist before all sorts of minority special rights groups popped up. They have weaponised the concept of ‘Human Rights’, which -in turn- tried to base its legitimacy on ‘equality’ and ‘fairness’. IT REALLY IS SO SIMPLE, SO BASIC.
Only ONE SMALL PROBLEM: equality is THE key programme of SOCIALIM. Freedom is THE key programme of LIBERALISM.
IT REALLY IS SO SIMPLE,SO BASIC. The ‘equality-obsessed’ ‘Human Righters’ also had one more strategy: to go international. I shall leave you to guess who prescribed that mode of ‘socialism’.
It is when these two ideologies became confused in the minds of British politicians, media, civil service, police etc. that we encountered a problem. In countries like Germany and South Africa, people became so befuddled by this confusion, because the Left had taken over language itself, and all public discourse, the powers that be did what they wanted. They shouted ‘Nazi’ or ‘racism’ and all discussion was at an end. They are still there.
The Left worked hard to bring about that confusion. Tiny signs now that we in the UK are beginning to pick our way out of that jungle. Much of the establishment is not there yet!

Such as twitter cancelling Katie Hopkins account after being ‘ lobbied ‘ by offended snowflakes .
If The so called ‘supreme ‘ court overturns the judgement then everyone will be subject to ‘ checks on their thinking ‘ . No wonder people care less about plod on a day to day level – ( but still have a whip round when one gets killed – but I wonder if that support could diminish too if the really turn into the Stasi ) . ?

The BBC asks “Why aren’t there more African female golfers?”
Because when the BBC goes to Africa, they only dig a big hole and give them a string with a bucket on the end.
Instead, the BBC should dig eighteen little holes, sow the desert with grass seed, dig a big hole, give them a string with a bucket on the end. Then tell them to throw the contents of the bucket onto the desert. Then after waiting for the grass to grow, give them a Golf Club and Ball. Then tell them to hit the Ball with the Club until the Ball falls into one of the little holes dug by the BBC Children in Need presenters. This could create the essential number of African female golfers needed by the BBC for its Drama, Entertainment and Sports programs.

Stew – I tried to explain a bit earlier today why I think we’re not actually dealing with rampant ‘liberalism’, we’re actually dealing with rampant SOCIALISM, disguised as liberalism. Language – especially political terminology – has been hijacked and perverted.
It has got so bad that even ‘conservatism’ is now often infested with socialist priorities. Just look at Merkel’s efforts in Germany to keep the ‘Red-red-green’ coalition in power in the state of Thuringia, hoping to NULLIFY democratic elections, ostensibly because the ‘LIBERAL’ PM who was elected to run this Federal State, did get support from the much-hated AfD, and you will understand. Look a bit closer, and you will find she has no time for her own ‘conservative’ party, a label of convenience.
The AfD is supposed to be ‘Nazi’, but I don’t think it is about jackboots, labour camps, gas chambers etc. (which Merkel would love you to think) but because the AfD stands for BORDERS and their control. (Of course, in the liberal/socialist mish mash, that also contains a hint of implied racism, now a crime not very far from said gas chambers. History hangs over us, and will be used frequently in the manipulation of language.)
We need urgently to return to a proper definition of ‘liberalism’, because SOCIALISTS have taken it over in order to disguise their own agenda. The minute you see it’s all about EQUALITY of OUTCOME, now frequently camouflaged as ‘FAIRNESS’, you’re dealing with socialism, NOT liberalism. One of the freedoms of liberalism is free-speech. The socialists had to have a way of shutting down that particular freedom, hence the invention of ‘HATE SPEECH’, a completely arbitrary judgement which LIES IN THE EYE OF THE BEHOLDER. There are -and have always been- effective laws against libel and slander, but this fact doesn’t suit the socialist agenda.

Just look at Merkel’s efforts in Germany to keep the ‘Red-red-green’ coalition in power in the state of Thuringia, hoping to NULLIFY democratic elections, because the ‘LIBERAL’ PM who was elected to run this Federal State, did get support from the much-hated AfD, and you will understand.
The AfD is supposed to be ‘Nazi’, but I don’t think it is about jackboots, labour camps, gas chambers etc. (which Merkel would love you to think) but because the AfD stands for BORDERS and their control. (Of course, in the liberal/socialist mish mash, that also contains a hint of implied racism.)

@FNW I was quoting Bostock
I don’t use the term “rampart liberalism” or liberalism
I use libmob .. the liberal mob
but wokemob, wokism is better
The socialist party in Canada is called The Liberal Party
as per US usage
but The conservative party in Oz is called The Liberal Party
Libertarian is the opposite of socialist
However one can be a lefty and socialist and still be honourable
The thing is the wokes are really woke-totalitarians calling themselves “liberal”
but actually being massively intolerant of outgroups.
Likewise those who identify as green , are usually ungreen in action

Yesterday the EU released its latest trade figures (for 2019) showing the UK as a non-EU country for the first time. The figures are from Eurostat, the EU’s official statistics agency. Unreported by the bBC?
EU27 goods trade figures for 2019 show UK as massive customer, second only to USA
Total EU27 goods exports to UK : €319bn
This is 15% of global EU27 goods exports in 2019
It’s 61% more than the EU27 sold to China
It’s 42% of the EU27’s entire sales to all non-EU European countries
EU27 trade surpluses – the value of EU27 exports minus imports
The EU27 earned a €125 billion trade surplus from the UK in 2019
That’s a staggering 62% of the EU27’s total global trade surplus in goods last year
The EU27 made more from the UK than from the next five countries COMBINED
It’s 7 TIMES MORE than the EU did with Canada, whose trade deal the EU talks about constantly

Certainly explains all those disgraceful dirty tricks lackies of the ReichEU used to delay our leaving and , if possible , prevent it .
It cannot be ‘water under the bridge ‘ . It must not be forgotten and it’s fortunate that the likes of Soubry ,Grieve, Gauke and so many others had their mouths shut by the electorate .

How the West deals with serious health threats to either life or limb. Two current examples.
The Corona Virus: To date it has been estimated to have infected > 64,000 people with a death toll so far Worldwide of 1380. The West’s response? Immediate isolation of those potentially infected and numerous pharma labs working, no doubt, 24/7 to find a vaccine.
https://www.cnet.com/how-to/coronavirus-explained-death-toll-and-cases-spike-mwc-canceled-15th-us-case/
Islam: Has Infected 1.57 Billion worldwide estimated in (2009). http://infomory.com/numbers/number-of-followers-of-islam/
Islam Caused 1273 deaths and 1151 serious injuries from 1st January 2020 to, 12th February 2020, ALONE. Source: https://www.thereligionofpeace.com/pages/site/the-list.aspx
The West’s response? Welcome the arrival of more carriers of the infection. No isolation. Incarceration for abnormally short periods only if the infected seriously break the law. Emphasis on, ‘seriously’ such as child rape and murder atrocities. Pay to support most of them and allow them to move freely throughout Western countries whilst displaying, openly, their infection. Condemn any individual member of an indigenous population who raises concern about the infection and expectation that a Government would do anything to isolate the infection. But not the US where travel bans are in place. In the words of our own “Beauty” –

From above, corollary. The political elite are vulnerable to the first as easily as, ‘Joe Public’. They are unlikely to be physically affected by the second.

Excellent comparison. I would add another comparison. The
Liberal West is well down the path of spending trillions on combating climate change even though the actual cause of climate change , if it exists at all, is unproven. The basis for this is the application of the precautionary principle. Contrast this with the proven and demonstrated threat of Islam. Rather than do anything to combat this proven threat the liberals are actually spending money to promote it. Complete madness.

This hate crime nonsense has fermented more than partly
because of the way the BBC under guidance from whom I
have called BIG BROTHER for a longtime ,from the diversity
department has attempted to “educate ” us with his, her or
it’s liberal bigotry . And we have to pay a licence fee for this
“education.”

My wife’s parents are around that age. They are also not healthy. We are not visiting them just in case as it involves getting in shiny metal tubes of recirculated air full of frequent fliers who sit in crowded airports.
The queues at EU or European airports are of supreme indifference to me currently.

Sunday ITV’s Endeavour police drama will go for a plot about a racist party at the1970 election
As campaigning for the 1970 general election gets under way in Oxford, racial tensions escalate in the city and a clash between two rival gangs leads Morse and Thursday to the door of a familiar face, where they discover the influence of a right wing organisation hoping to win an Oxford seat. Things get worse at an Indian restaurant, where a mysterious disappearance and a shocking murder put even the strongest family loyalties to the test.

Monday 9pm BBC 2 comedian David Baddiel explores Holocaust denial
– in both historical and contemporary terms – in an attempt to understand what motivates this phenomenon and why it is on the rise, both in Britain and across the globe.
The denier … expounds his views while throwing in what he clearly sees as clinching details:
“Auschwitz had a swimming pool, it had bakeries”
before he starts ranting about
how Baddiel “controls the BBC”. *
Though Baddiel has a good comeback:
“If I controlled the BBC, I would be on it more.”
Then the denier takes a guitar and sings a Holocaust denial song.
* I suspect that might be a petty strawman
where the guy actually said “you Jews control the BBC/media”
..a conspiracy theory of course
but top Jewish families like the Grades and others may have had disproportionate influence.
That could well be through cleverness and hard work rather than actual conspiracy.
