Weekend Thread 18 April 2020

So how is the Far Left Biased BBC going to report the second 3 week closure of the UK – courtesy of the People’s Republic of China ? Will worship of the NHS and condemnation of the government intensify ? Or will it find another bone to chew ?

Finally found out why I keep seeing and hearing ice cream vans during a so-called lockdown:

But how on earth do you practise ‘social distancing’ when buying an ice-cream?

    • Guest Who says:

Too many exemptions do not add up. Like the BBC and FOIs.

I have always been chary of many takeaway options where preparation, serving and containerage are out of view, but at this period the odds of me seeking anything to consume not handled by a machine or me into a pot or oven are low.

      • BRISSLES says:

I’d rather eat grass if I was hungry, than anything produced in a shed/warehouse on an industrial estate as part of the Just Eat franchise. Recent investigations on these places have shown there are no checks on hygiene and food quality, taken after a severe breakout of food poisoning; and after seeing (accidentally) the back kitchen of an Indian restaurant years ago, then I swear no-one would set foot in these places ever again.

      • Deborah says:

I am beginning to eye up both dandelions and nettles as I am not going out to buy fresh fruit and veg. My first supermarket delivery is supposed to be imminent and I am concerned it might not turn up. But at the moment my attempts at nettle soup have been deferred. I still am not desperate enough to order a take away however much they might claim it is untouched by human hand..

    • StewGreen says:

Ice cream vans are often fronts for drug dealers.

      • Oldspeaker says:

Anti viral too Stew, stand in a queue at an ice cream van on Westminster Bridge while clapping and there’s no chance of catching it. All going beyond surreal now.

      • LastChanceSaloon says:

        “drug dealers.”
Any records of gang rapists? They all seem to be named Ali.

      • G.W.F. says:

Yes indeed. I recall a hot day in Moss Side, Manchester, when I approached an ice cream van asking for an ice cream for my dog. The chap looked at me in surprise, then said something to a young lad who was in the van and the lad set off on his bike returning with an ice cream for my dog. It was then that I realised what was on sale in the van

    • Up2snuff says:

C_M, “how on earth do you practise ‘social distancing’ when buying an ice-cream?”

It is an arms length transaction.

No, I won’t get my coat, I’ve been out for my HMG authorised exercise so now I am staying firmly in.

      So there!

    • The General says:

Maybe its ok as long as you dont lick it.

  2. Oldspeaker says:

Nullifies my starter CM, good point, I guess in the same way that people social distance while clapping in a crowd on Westminster Bridge. Police included if the pictures are to be believed.

    • Guest Who says:

      Virtual social isolation.

A bit like a BBC editor thread.

    • Fedup2 says:

Yet again Brillo is on the case – it turns out that the commissioner lady was in amongst it clapping her heart out – so what is she going to do – discipline herself ? Maybe next time they can all have a group hug and get this ‘herd immunity ‘ thing – also

-guido reports that some GP on the BBC Friday afternoon is in fact a Labour Party candidate to become a police commissioner – he slagged off the government in accordance with BBC guidelines – but was not announced as a Labour Party member ……. easy to forget isn’t it …..

      • Oldspeaker says:

Couldn’t write it Fed, OK lads finish off your clapping, ignore this lot ignoring social distancing then get down to the park and warn people off for sitting on the grass regardless of proximity to each other.

        • Scroblene says:

“sitting on the grass regardless of proximity to each other.”

Now that really is an old-fashioned way for a copper to get info…!

    • Swelter says:

Its a well known medical fact that one cannot contract corona virus while clapping the NHS .

      • The General says:

You can clap for the NHS, but if you are clapping for the Government you will be arrested.

  3. Doobster78 says:

Norman Smith pulled up and corrected by the Professor he was quoting.

Left unchecked, Norman would have given people false hope of everything back to.normal in two weeks.

Typical, sloppy, edited to suit, sensationalist wording again from the BBC !!!!

    • G says:

I use the expression again, ‘canary in the coal mine’ Most know the significance of that.
Don’t be one – we’ll miss your last chirp here…..
All the votes of the older more circumspect generation will be needed in the future

  4. Mustapha Sheikup al-Beebi says:

More automatic as well as predictably tedious bias from the BBC.

On Radio 4 from 6:30 there is the awful News Quiz. The very first question / item this evening had some American woman blaming Trump – not the WHO – for the Corona Virus situation in the USA. There was the predictable laugh in response – because, you see, we all know that this is true, having been conditioned by the BBC.

What came next? Don’t know as I’d turned off by then.

    • Swelter says:

Its Sad… I remember when the News Quiz was funny with Coran and Ingram’s

    • Idiotboy says:

I unfortunately missed the “Kerrang! Radio” button on my car radio today while nursing a couple of kilos of miscellaneous deep fried titbits home from the only decent chippy still operating in the West Midlands and it tuned to The News Show on Radio 4 instead.

My composure was rudely interrupted by an unterrupted stream of leftist drivel from “A panel of comics and journalists rounding up the news”.

The only people laughing were the panel themselves and the canned laughter machine, which was itself struggling with the task.

I must say that it was so bad that I continued to listen for a few minutes to convince myself it was real.

Awful stuff. I have now reassigned the Radio 4 station tuning button to “Planet Rock” so that this error never occurs again.

      • Scroblene says:

“Awful stuff. I have now reassigned the Radio 4 station tuning button to “Planet Rock” so that this error never occurs again.”

Is that the great station ‘where Rock Lives’, IB?

I thought they’d left this mortal coil, so must find them again – thank you!

        • Darcy3 says:

God, do the radio still play such things as UFO, Thin Lizzy, Mk2 Purple etc?

I thought it was against the law and we have to have BAME males shouting about smakin up dere bitches and BAME females groaning along to an electronic drum beat in the completely mis named R and bloody B

show them a keyboard or fretboard (or anything that requires a little study and practice) they would run a mile

    • NCBBC says:

The BBC is engaged in trying to convince the world that CV19 is Pres Trump’s fault. That the Chinese are victims, and have extended help to many nations around the world.

The BBC point out that America is losing its position as leader of the world to the Chinese – just in case the viewer missed the point . It is all Trump’s fault.

  5. Doobster78 says:

    • theisland says:

Introduced as Dr Paul Williams, a former MP, the bBC failed to mention that not only was he a Labour MP, he is currently the Labour candidate campaigning to become a Police and Crime Commissioner.

Guido says An exasperated Tory source tells Guido that “Broadcasters have a responsibility to their audiences to highlight when guests have a clear political bias.” They are monitoring the output closely…

      @BrugesGroup say
When a politician appears on TV, his or her party is, rightly, made known to the audience.
If broadcasters are to invite activists to give their opinion on the pandemic, their political allegiances should also be revealed to the audience.
      This is not rocket science.

Moreover, this comment by ‘Chucky’ on Guido’s website exactly describes Starmer’s MO of hiding behind others:

      Chucky 59m
Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer has criticised the doctor for not being objective and making his political beliefs clear.
      That’s a lie of course.
But remember, Liebore’s senior staffers have been careful to say this is not the time to be critical while a) doing just that, and b) trying to take the credit for a raft of Govt decisions.
So, when you get an opposition as malevolent as Sirkeef’s mob, you can only expect them to use their media contacts to get as many of the lower ranks on the telly as possible, repeating prepared lines and making every effort to undermine. That way Stammer gets to muddy the waters while being keeping a safe, deniable distance.
It’s nothing new, but even for politicians it’s really distasteful.

    • G says:

Not one BAME in the photograph! Where can I complain?

  6. Doobster78 says:

Why is it that no matter what the scientists say, the BBC bubble dwellers, ALWAYS know best ????

They are so keen to listen to scientists , BUT , only the ones with the opposing views to the Government. Funny that !!!!!!

    • Mustapha Sheikup al-Beebi says:

Gary mate, maybe you could offer to buy us all a mask? You used to earn £1.8 million a year from the BBC, when I last heard, so you can afford it. Plus it’s OUR money anyway ‘cos of the Telly Tax!

    • Oldspeaker says:

Fortune spent on face tracking technology doesn’t look so good currently. CCTV not looking much of a detterent either, if it ever was. I imagine there are certain areas where local police would rather people didn’t routinely wear masks. “Can you describe the assailant…?”

    • Fedup2 says:

Gary should team up with the emir of Londonistan – he’s been applying the theory that if you cram as many people as you can into tube carriages there won’t be any room for pesky Chinese virus . He’s also been going on about not giving bus drivers PPE whilst they’ve been catching the bug and some dying . Naturally he blames the government although he has direct responsibility for TFL . BBC won’t go after him – he’s as fire proof as NHS procurement ….

Putting aside my cynicism- it does seem a bit sad that he sold himself as the son of a bus driver but hasn’t protected them….

    • Demon says:

OK Gary Wing Nut. Where the hell can one get a mask when even the NHS can’t.

  7. Deborah says:

I had wondered if I could be as nasty as those on the Left. You know, the ones who sang ‘the witch is dead’ re Mrs Thatcher or who promised to have a party after Boris’ death. I can confidently say I am not. Derek Draper is still in intensive care. He was one of the nastiest in the Blair government if I remember correctly. But he is a husband and a father, and on that basis, I wish him better.

    • john in cheshire says:

And I pray he and the other reprobate minds repent and ask Jesus for salvation.

If all the God haters and Christ haters repented the world would be a much happier, safer and more pleasant place to be.

That’s why we pray for them. Not because we like them but because they would be better people and in doing so they wouldn’t be making everyone else’s lives a misery.

    • StewGreen says:

Oh he is some TV presenter’s husband
ITV Good Morning Britain host Kate Garraway.

  8. Mustapha Sheikup al-Beebi says:

On the BBC’s on-line news under Corona Virus, there’s a 3.5 min video about false claims by world politicians regarding the virus.

For a little bit of fun during the lock-down, if you haven’t looked at this already, have a guess at the three politicians our national treasure broadcaster has chosen to depict on the cover picture.

If you’re struggling, I will give below the first letters and number of blanks after … though I doubt you’ll need them all.

    (1) T – – – –

    (2) B – – – – – – – –

    (3) S – – – – – –

[Curiously, no Chinese leader is depicted although the video itself does mention them.]

    • StewGreen says:

      ‘China reopened the wet markets.
      Why’s that ?
.. cos they know damn well the markets were not the source of the virus
… as they would do if they know it was the lab’

      Scott Adams

      There’s a whole BH discussion on Covid19

  9. StewGreen says:

Channel5 Tony Robinson tells us the reason Seattle is an attraction for tech people is cos “Amazon chose to put its HQ here”

…. Funny I thought since Seattle has been the HQ of Microsoft for 35 years that might a reason.

    • john in cheshire says:

Tony Robinson’s a commie. They’re not known for their accuracy.

As Saul Alinsky said, the issue is not the issue; ie. Look beyond what these commies are saying to find out what they are plotting to do.

  10. Fedup2 says:

I had a dream – it’s 2025 – everyone has had a covid test ( and passed -.even on the resits ) apart From me . They’re still doing the daily briefings . – just for me – they want me to flatten the curve and to get R or argh to be minus one .

Then a plane flies over – i check it on the app and it’s on its way to Heathrow from China …..

  11. Up2snuff says:

BBC Picture Editor very short of eye-sight again: has used a photo of a married couple.

    • StewGreen says:

Well it is supposed to be : woman and landlord, not a married couple.

“He’s been bringing multiple women over and there’s no such thing as social distancing for him,” she says

If he is dark skinned the BBC wouldn’t use a person of dark skin in the image.

      • Up2snuff says:

Obviously married, Stew, that’s a humdinger of an argument and she is blowing in his face! You can hear the neighbours banging on the wall for some quiet.

      • Fedup2 says:

Stew – I reckon you win the quote of the year award to date . Ta for the giggle “multiple women “…

  12. theisland says:

We must have a clean break. 14 mins.

    • taffman says:

I posted this two days ago but worth posting again……….
EU trade talks aim for ‘tangible progress’ by June
But the “Rejoiners” in Scotland and Wales are adopting delaying tactics…………………..
Expect Al Beeb to push the ‘call for an extension’ line .

IMHO, there is an economic tsunami heading for the EU. Italy is struggling , while all the southern EU nations that are heavily dependant on tourism will suffer economic disaster because of the pandemic, eg Greece, Spain and Portugal.
The Eu will also call for an extension so that the financial burden can be shared with the UK. Germany and France will need our money when the tidal wave hits the EU and you can be sure, its on its way .

      • G says:

According to Nigel (et al.) in above video (compliments of theisland), we are tied in to the EU Investment Bank for 12 years already for up to £30 Billion even if we cut the final tie this year.

  13. StewGreen says:

If you want news, then you shouldn’t watch a news prog
cos their main interest is disinformation.
The other day in a phone a medical expert explained that Covid19 is different from SARS (and I think H1N1)
cos with them the symptoms show up quickly and obviously, so cases don’t spread off into the community before anyone notices.
Instead cases can be seen and quarantined pretty quickly.

  14. Anders Thomasson says:

As The Pres would say, you are fake news

    • StewGreen says:

I don’t see the word “apologise”
as in ‘we at the BBC would like to apologise to viewers for misleading them
… and regret taking more than 12 hours to make a correction’

      • StewGreen says:

actually it looks like more than 16 hours to make a correction
at 6am Tweeters were calling the story BS
but the BBC correction came around 9:23pm

        Mike Graham has a thread

    • fakenewswatcher says:

Beeb made a big fuss about this so-called ‘NHS boss’, lead item in the news etc. Huge ‘scoop’.
Now they say they got it wrong because of a ‘misunderstanding’.
Incredible! Their facts are as twisted as the ones coming out of China! They cannot be believed any more than Communist propaganda!
      Close them down I say.

    • Nibor says:

I was hearing this all morning from 6 o clock to 9 o clock .

Sorry if it has been mentioned before , I could only be tapping now on computer .

But Im sure everyone smelt a rat .
He was supposed to be a director of procurement in a Southetn section of the NHS , of 30 years experience .

So he went where in 2020 for a contact number ?

The internet , web page and E mail of the company ( or Twitter or Facebook or Whats ap or LinkedINn or whatever ) ?

      Directory Inquiries ?

      Yellow Pages ?

Or a national broadcasting organisation ?

Now lets take a think .
You ring up Burberrys and tell the receptionist who you are and what your needs are and can you be put through to best person to discuss your requirements ?

You ring the BBC and tell the receptionist who you are and what your needs are and can you be put through to best person to discuss your requirements and what a good story this makes ?

Next week a slight shortage of pillowcases , who should you contact and why didn`t Boris Johnson order enough from suppliers as well as his neglect to make sure there`s enough HB pencils at the Easst Birmingham Childrens Hospital .
And Domonic Raab hasnt checked the fuseboxes at Kings Lynn QE2 Hospital .

  15. Chalkywhite says:

Apologies if this has already been mentioned, but the BBC have been banging on all day (on the website anyway, don’t watch them on TV) about a boss of a NHS Trust contacting them about contacting Burberry and Barbour because he was concerned about PPE gown supply shortages. Well seemingly it wasn’t :

Do they check their sources? Shoddy journalism, but what do you expect? It says what they want you to hear, so truth be damned and publish!
Funny how they say ‘ Earlier on Friday’. It’s been on the front of their website all damn day!

    • Deborah says:

The BBC couldn’t even get the story in their apology correct. They start by saying it was a story they had raised ‘on Friday’. I remember posting about it last night (Thursday).

    • JimS says:

The BBC might have made a ‘mistake’ but they don’t waste an opportunity do they?

(Do you have one with head-coverings too Mr Getty?)

  16. Fedup2 says:

Chalky – I think you got it wrong – it’s not that it’s a shortage of gowns – it’s more about the style and colour . They really don’t want a clash with surgical ‘ blues ‘ ( or is it ‘ greens’ ?) – and waxed Barbour gowns are a def ‘no’

It’s not the BBC …. but one Emma Manzini on Twitter is advertising for a gang to blag the nat west in high Holborn next thursday at 8pm whilst the snowflake plod are all emoting and clapping in Westminster Bridge . Apparently I’m the getaway driver ….

  17. Oldspeaker says:

Darts on the up, innocuous looking article so like a fool I clicked.
“Coronavirus: Why darts is thriving online during lockdown”
Only thats not the content of the article is it.
Fallon Sherrock, she beat a man you know. How could we not know for crying out loud. Please, just give it a rest, we should not be forced to pay for this drivel.

  18. Sluff says:

By a strange quirk of the solar system, a time wormhole has sent current BBC news presenters and editors back to June 1944.

‘This is the BBC Home Service. Here is the news for today June 6th.

    D-Day has arrived.

There have been reports of massive overcrowding on the landing craft with insufficient toilets. Transgender soldiers in particular are badly affected.

Wheelchair-bound soldiers have been unable to get on ships because of poor access.

Residents across the southern coastal towns have been badly affected, we have heard many reports of high levels of pollution from noisy traffic at night which also prevents residents from sleeping.

German troops are reporting instances of war crimes by British soldiers. We’ll be talking to the London law firm who have taken on their cases.

Many soldiers are reporting inadequate personal protective equipment.

Greenpeace are reporting huge oil spills and debris on the beaches in Normandy.

The BBC have asked to speak to Mr Churchill on these and other issues but he is unavailable.

Instead we’ll be talking to the leader of the British Pacifist Association, a Mr. J. Corbyn, and hearing about the problems faced by conscientious objectors from ethnic minorities.

We are unable to bring you news of how the landings are going as the health and safety assessments for our reporters were not released in time by the government.

So instead let’s go to our reporter Laura Doomsberg who is at a Land Girls hostel in Sidmouth’

    • LastChanceSaloon says:

      S – “Laura Doomsberg”
Imitation being the sincerest form of flattery, I shall be borrowing it.

    Cover-ups and skulduggery in China…

(Hushed up by their number 1 supporter the WHO, so beloved by the beeb.)

  20. fakenewswatcher says:

Razzia Iqbal, news at 10pm on R4, sounding very pro-China/Communist, in her interview with Tom Tugenhat. Was she just trying to be provocative? I doubt it.
Comrade Xi Jinping would have been very pleased with her. Beeb fronting up totalitarian propaganda!
    Actually, no surprise…

  21. davylars says:

    Tyne Tees local news..
Our roving reporter probably wasn’t expecting this from a care home manager in Newcastle regarding testing…
“ I’ve got the direct email address of the girl at the front of the NHS who is running testing facilities. I’ve got the absolutely security and reassurance from the local authority who I would call again at that stage immediately who would support and help us get through that testing period very quickly. We will get that testing done very quickly……”

    Would the BBC broadcast this?

  22. lordelpus says:

Hope the moderator will excuse me for this post,as not specifically BBC related.I have a laptop with Windows 10,and this has a Microsoft News page. The main sources they use for their daily news stories are,Daily Mirror,The Independent,The Guardian,Evening Standard, and Sky News.
Not much support from any of them for the Government, luckily in the comments section taking a hammering from non woke readers.

  23. pugnazious says:

And so it begins in earnest.

‘You’ll never see a 747 flying again’: Coronavirus ‘is killing off big long-haul planes

‘The coronavirus pandemic could kill off large long-haul planes as the airline industry continues to be crippled by the worldwide lockdown, an expert warned today.

Airlines are expected to switch to flying fewer, smaller aircraft – with the infection said to have accelerated the demise of the world’s largest passenger planes.’

Fury of British farmers as public sector caterers vow to cut meat served in schools, hospitals, universities and care homes by 20 per cent to improve diets and help environment
‘Public sector caterers have vowed to hit the target as part of a pledge which also aims to boost public health by lowering consumption of animal products.

The meals being reduced in canteens and kitchens across the UK are eaten by a quarter of the population. ‘

The real reason for the lockdowns…climate. When you hear the scientists telling us we need to keep the lockdown going and that there will be maybe up to 10 surges you know they will keep the screws on for years…releasing every so often but then reapplying to ‘prevent that surge’.

They hope you will get used to it and it will become the ‘new normal’…something you may have noticed the BBC slipping into the conversation quite frequently…things will never be the same again and this is the ‘new normal’. Anyone thinking we are being ‘nudged’ and primed to accept this total destruction of our way of life? Did they see the chance and grab it with both hands using massively hyped fear of the coronavirus as the excuse to hijack society and smash the economy in order to reshape it all to their own agenda?

Nicky Campbell was more blatant this morning as he told us we need to change our society and how wonderful the new environment was…not of course for all those who’ve lost their jobs or those dying from the virus or those suffering domestic abuse and mental health issues, or those who can’t get treatment for cancer or heart problems, or those whose education and future is blighted…but hey…stay at home on full BBC pay and I’m sure things look wonderful. Apparently it takes 66 days to change behaviour and for change to be accepted as the new normal…we are told by Campbell that ‘It is a work in progress’….If you’re not scared you should be. Echoes of Stalin, 5 year plans and the firm smack of State control seems to be casting a shadow over us right now.

If you think..no way…maybe you weren’t listening to Nolan where he had a Democrat on[missed the full name but it was Phil from NYC…possibly Phillip Steck, Dem politician].

He told us that ‘Now is the time to change the state…to introduce a US NHS and to increase welfare and more state control’

He told us there is optimism about all this…what would that be? The optimism is that things get so dire that government must take a more progressive direction. By ‘progressive’ of course he means more and more state intervention and control. Funny how liberalism has become Fascism/Stalinism. You are the collateral damage, the necessary ‘murder’, they just don’t give a damn about you in reality.

But there you have the real truth…A Tory government has deliberately sabotaged the economy and there is an agenda behind it all…climate, cultural, social and economic…things will never be the same…not if the Phils of this world, backed by the BBC, can help it.

    • Sluff says:

Over in Everett, Boeing have been making 4-6 747s a year for the past 2 or 3 years, and only for cargo.
But they make about 10 dreamliners a month.
Meanwhile A380 production stopping was announced months ago. But A350s are doing well.

Which is why the ‘hub’ argument for Heathrow Airport 3 rd runway has no credibility.

Attributing the Coronavirus pandemic to these decisions is a total joke.

    Coronavirus has brought us

State borrowing and future debt on a vast scale
The worship of the NHS and the issuing of blank cheques to support it
An entitled public sector class with job security, full pay and pensions with every chance of increases informed by groupthink sentimentality
A massive programme of state intervention in private business amounting to nationalisation of huge sectors of the economy.

Corbyn, Mcdonnell, Abbott et al must feel like all their dreams have come true.
    They didn’t win the election.
It turns out they didn’t need to win the election.

      Dear BBC, here’s a question for your source;

Why is “a network of organisations trying to source supplies for some NHS trusts” and not the entire country?

I would ask him myself but obviously I’m not clever enough, it really needs a highly trained BBC journalist, someone with an instinct for this sort of thing.

  29. taffman says:

C’mon and admit it , its definitely Biased.

  30. pugnazious says:

The BBC has been feeding us fake news all day as it told us that the boss of an NHS Trust had got in touch with the BBC asking if he could be put in touch with Burberry who were making gowns for the NHS.

Now you may have thought ‘complete and utter bollocks’….it’s not hard to find Burberry….Google is a wonderful thing…you can find the main company site here….

And yes….the BBC got it wrong…somehow…and we have an apology…

BBC correction on Burberry coronavirus plea
‘Earlier on Friday we reported that a boss of an NHS trust had contacted the BBC with concerns about the provision of gowns for staff during the coronavirus crisis.

He had asked the BBC for the phone numbers of Burberry and Barbour – two companies which have become involved in making gowns – because he was concerned about supply shortages.

We should clarify that the person concerned is not the boss of an NHS trust but is part of a network of organisations helping to source personal protective equipment for some NHS trusts.

The mistake was caused by a misunderstanding of the person’s role in the fight against the pandemic.’

So just how did they mistake the head of an NHS Trust for some random bloke/woman who just called them up…probaby from Labour HQ? It was never a credible story was it? And yet the BBC fell for it….why? Because they are so desperate to criticise a Tory/Brexit government they’ll use any old tosh to do so…hence Guido reports they have been fronting their shows with ‘NHS staff’ who are in fact Labour Party activists as well…but not telling us that useful fact as they attack the government.

    • Halifax says:

And the correction from the BBC is fronted by a picture of 3 BME nurses one of whom is wearing a hijab…..so a correction not an apology and they use it to further thier “agenda”.
How long before there is a shortage of disposable hijabs ??? Now that’s a story !!

      • LastChanceSaloon says:

H – “How long before there is a shortage of disposable hijabs?”
They are all disposable, occupied or not.

Winston Smith has been busy overnight. Use the search term ‘Burberry’ on the BBC’s website – no reference to the original article containing The Lie. I’ve also been through a number of archiving websites (albeit not all of them) – can’t find any snaphots of the BBC website from yesterday containing The Lie article, even though it was on their home page for most of the day.

What is happening to the BBC? As of 2020, fewer people than ever trust the ‘British’ Broadcasting Corporation to tell the truth. Accusations of bias and fake news reverberate inside and outside of social media tarnishing the name of this once respected brand.Every minute of every day the BBC production line is hard at work. A finely-tuned machine, Britain’s publicly-funded state broadcaster pumps out an enormous amount of content much of which attempts to mislead, unnerve and inflame the audience. Encompassing its coverage of Trump, Brexit, climate change, Syria and everything in between, there is nothing spontaneous about BBC propaganda. It is constructed to achieve specific goals. The Fake News Factory promises to blow the lid off what has become a radical, political agenda.Unable to modify its playbook by a single degree however, the corporation faces an existential crisis. More hated than loved, the BBC unravels in front of our eyes. Audiences deserting in record numbers just how does the BBC manage to retain its pre-eminent position within the UK media landscape? Using myriad examples of unethical practice in this sequel to his acclaimed BBC: Brainwashing Britain? David Sedgwick takes the reader on a disturbing journey into the very heart of dishonesty.

    • Doublethinker says:

Exactly. The President was ridiculed mercilessly for suggesting that clinical trials could be accelerated by allowing those who were near death to trial new as yet unproven drugs before the conventional trials were completed. He was said to be an ignoramus endangering lives. Exactly the same abuse was thrown at him with the more recent anti malarial treatment of Covid 19. Medical experts know best and we must obey them without question .
But it a wider phenomenon than just medicine , it’s the same on climate change, economics, multiculturalism, world affairs , the UN and all it’s agencies. The list goes on and on. Basically ‘experts’ are the priest hood of Globalism, they are the only ones who can interpret the word of God and we ordinary folks must obey them. Hence the loathing of Globalists and their congregation of dupes , for Populists who they regard as heretics to be burnt at the stake. The populists don’t believe the Globalist doctrine , they don’t believe that the priests are always right and must always be obeyed, they think that the Globalist temple needs to be raised to the ground and it’s iconography destroyed. Or put into Trump’s more modern language , the swamp needs to be drained!

  38. Doublethinker says:

One thing coming out of the crisis is the elevation of NHS staff to the same status enjoyed by Battle of Britain fighter pilots. This will lay the foundation for a new national myth that the NHS saved the nation and so will render the NHS an even greater deity than it already was. But there is a piece of good news buried in this and that is that the BBC’s attempt to present itself as being as important a national institution as the NHS , thus justifying a universal LF or general tax, will now be seen as grotesque by the public, ‘how dare the BBC compare itself to the selfless heroes of the NHS? ‘, cue outrage at their arrogance. The BBC’s conceit of itself is so high that they won’t be able to resist trying to hold on to the coattails of the NHS in their defence against subscription but I think it will blow back on them if they do.

I don’t think all this crying and whinging to their pals in the BBC will do NHS workers any good in the long run.

All the BBC want from you is another stick with which to bash Boris.

I do have sympathy for the NHS, I suppose it must be galling to see the teachers on semi-permanent paid leave.

This is the unspoken contract – ok, us non-public sector people, we’ll ‘protect the NHS’ by sacrificing our livelihoods with lockdown – because you guys will protect us from illness?

BBC all day , everyday – Face masks should be made compulsory when going outdoors. The government are wrong listening to the experts. We need a change in policy so we can cry U-Turn. !!!!!

But not one person at our trusted , impartial, national broadcaster has asked the question, if there really is a deadly shortage of PPE on the front line, where the hell do we get MILLIONS of extra face masks from ???????

Surely the BBC wouldn’t want to see vital PPE taken away from the NHS heroes they have put on the world’s highest pedestal !!!!!

    • pugnazious says:

Doobs, might suspect the government engineers the shortage as it generates massive headlines and keeps up the sense of crisis that it needs to keep us in lockdown. Number of people using the NHS has dropped off, the ICUs are well under capacity and yet PPE is in short supply…how so? The care homes need some of course but it is gowns that are apparently the latest urgent requirement and care homes don’t need those.

You might ask how the government can get companies to rapidly design and produce something as complicated as a ventilator and yet can’t get people to manufacture what is in essence a plastic bag with sleeves on it?

    • Ian Rushlow says:

The BBC only likes Ode to Joy because it is the EU’s national (sic) anthem. I prefer to think of it as the Rhodesian national anthem, so perhaps the BBC is really paying homage to a people who described themselves as “more British than the British’.

I’m told today by the BBC fake news fact checking unit that I shouldn’t be spreading rumours about the BCG vaccine partially protecting you from C19. There is no evidence.

Funny that, because I actually heard the BBC’s own expert, a Cambridge University virologist, tell me a few days ago ON the BBC news that it looks like the chance of dying from C19 was 6 times less if you had the BCG.
The BBC started the bloody ‘rumour’!
