A bit of wordplay I noticed on the bbbc 10 o clock news tonight.

The UK deaths figure includes all venues and “people who died after testing positive OR AFTER DISPLAYING COVID SYMPTOMS”

So not only the dying with/dying of the virus but, if I may venture, including those that died after displaying covid symptoms. Covid symptoms? Do they mean pneumonia?

It is very often pneumonia that sees off those with long standing conditions. The cancer/leukaemia/dementia takes away the body’s immune system and pneumonia is what finally kills these poor unfortunate folk. Question is, is this scenario also included in the “died after displaying covid symptoms”?

Are there no curious journalists around to ask the question?

Andy, there are rumours – I would emphasise that word rumours – that hospital Docs under pressure (of all sorts?) are signing Death Certs as Covid-19 cause-of-death if they merely suspect the deceased was infected. That is why it is so important not to look at deaths in the UK as a key signifier.

It is infections, and only infections, that count.

      I blame our Stew! 😉

      [ 🙂 Sorry, Stew. 🙂 ]

      • Burgsey says:

Hi Up2. My understanding is the Coronavirus Act introduced by the Government removed the need for two separate doctors signatures to certify death. This double signature was introduced after the Shipman scandal.

Therefore you are correct. Death certs can now be signed off by one doctor and quite likely to state Covid 19 even if this was not necessarily the cause of death or just as importantly the patient died with Covid 19 and not because of it.

This may well be having a SIGNIFICANT impact on the numbers reported, especially in care homes.

Again not a peep from the mainstream media as it does not fit the narrative.

This is where the malaria drug HCO + antibiotic seems to make the difference.

The striking thing is that countries that have malaria and take this drug regularly, have very low mortality rates due to Covid 19.

      https://qz.com/india/1839018/why-does-india-have-so-few-coronavirus-covid-19-cases-and-deaths/

      For India
      Mortality rate = 800/1200(million) = 0.7 per million

UK Mortality rate = 66.5 per million

      95 times higher.

      • NCBBC says:

        Correction

Uk Mortality is 442.8 per million

On that basis India should have 530,000 or half million deaths due to cv19

Interesting. However, is Brazil not tropical? And swampy? Must be enough to require use of anti-malarial drugs (remember the flap over the Zika virus in 2016?) yet their rate of infection is rocketing. They have shot into the TopTen, currently at number 9, but with a population of over 200 million they are likely to climb higher.

Andy, I have been thinking the same thing. The wording I keep n oticing on Sky is “The number of deaths of people who have tested positive for Corona Virus.” Very vague and it probably also includes many very old people who were about to die even if they had not had the virus.

Prof Ferguson – whose modelling of the virus’s transmission informed the decision to impose social distancing – said he made an “error of judgement” in undermining the rules he’d called for.”

They have woken up, this morning. Apparently.

He’s the same chap that was advising Tony Blair at the time of the foot and mouth outbreak in 2001.
It was his plan that led to the culling of healthy livestock even if they were on adjoining farms. The culling led to the slaughter of six million cattle, sheep and pigs and cost the economy £10 billion. He also claimed that 150,000 people could die from Mad Cow Disease. Thankfully his predictions were wildly off and fewer that 200 have lost their lives. But four million cattle were slaughtered.

And of that number of culled beasts, which does not include the calves in hand and very young lambs slaughtered as well, a total of 12% were found to be infected. A number of farmers comitted suicide after the loss of their herds and income. The man should have been ignored from that point, but they trusted him yet again to predict the outcome of SARS. He was orders of magnitude wrong yet again. So fundamentally useless he is a menace. To find that for lockdown amusement he is having it off with someone elses wife is no big surprise. The cuckolded husband should do us all a favour and have a bit of a “remonstration” with the guy. With a baseball bat.

What better way to achieve aims such as destroying capitalism and ending fossil fuel usage than by advocating a very long lockdown to bring coronavirus under control? We know that, politburo-like, most of SAGE are state employees with fully guaranteed jobs and salaries and so are largely unaffected by their recommendations.

      Oh, and by the way.
Figures show a huge amount of personal debt was paid off last month, one of the biggest on record.
Why? Because there is nothing to spend money on, and so public sector workers on full pay are able to save like never before. There is no incentive for public sector workers, especially those on SAGE, to want to end the lock down. Financially, they are gaining from all of this. For those who hate capitalism whilst in a position to pull up the drawbridge and protect themselves, every day is Christmas.

For workers in tourism, catering, airlines etc etc, and millions of others, its another story. But they are not represented on SAGE.

I don’t know if this has been reported by the foul corporation because I never listen to their so called news but yesterday, as reported in the Telegraph business section, the German Supreme Court ruled that Germany must not participate in any further European bail outs or bond purchases organised by the EU. This means that the main creditor in the EU is effectively barred from propping up the Euro by buying the debt of Italy, Spain, Greece and France. The only way out of this is for the EU to change its treaties and for the German government to sign up to those changes and effectively sign away German sovereignty and therefore expect German tax payers to foot the bill for what they see as gross overspending by other countries. This would be manna from heaven for the AfD who would receive millions of extra votes on the back of it. There would be a similar anti EU surges in Holland and Austria. The Euro and the EU are in deep, deep trouble over this. It is likely to be the end of the Euro and possibly of the Federalist ambitions of the EU itself. The Pound has strengthened a little against the Euro overnight and as the news sinks it is likely to rise further. The impact over the next year or so on the EU is likely to be nearly as severe as Brexit. Even the fanatical Remainers must recognise that their ship has finally hit its iceberg!

One of my all time great films is” Moonstruck” the film in
which Cher won a deserved Academy award. There is
terrific end scene when all the family are having breakfast.
What has been going on is being explained, but the old gran dad
has a pained expression. He sadly says ” I’m confused, I’m
confused” as a tear falls on to his cheek. Apparently this scene
took two days to get right . This old gran dad, yours truly has
been confused for several weeks now.
We have our national broadcaster the BBC acting like they
    are an auctioneer . ” 5000 dead, any advance on 5000, 10,000,
    20,000, 30,00 ? going going———-.
We used to be amused the when on “Pointless” the two
Richards went hysterical when contestants had the same Pointless score and in unison screamed ” LOCKDOWN, LOCKDOWN.” Being reminiscence of when we had advert after
    after for AIDS slimming pills.
Now it seems to be the requisite of- “do as I say , not what I
do” brigade to become the life or death of both our bodies and economy. Accompanied with this our masters have to be able
to , I wont be crude-be able to “put it about.”
I am in no way a moralist . But I am getting very confused.
I just hope on their night’s off Laura Kuenssberg and Matt

Thank you for that link – the tweet in which the James O’Brien characters says we wonders if the great british public can process the information journalists give them did make me laugh out loud – which doesn’t happen very often .

I have to admit that I only know mr O’Brien by name but I suppose he is in that bit of the bubble which only says stuff to get money and get noticed – invited onto the BBC for instance – to give an angled left wing view as opposed to the standard approved one .
Thinking about it – maybe they use ‘outspoken ‘ fools like him to try to make their institutional propaganda – monopoly of thinking – more ‘acceptable ‘ those not paying the attention they deserve ….

The only tiny bit of BBC related stuff I now take are the daily briefings …..they might start to get a bit spicy now – perhaps with the experts/government being held to account …

    1. Why arnt more tests being done since you’ve been crowing about capacity
( how many tests being done are for new people rather than retests ?)

    2. Why have you got experts on sage who lack personal judgement – how much was Ferguson being paid ?

3 what are you going to do about the court of protection ruling on Tuesday that people dying should be allowed to have next of kin with them ? How are you going to arrange that ( it can be done)
A suggestion -minister – maybe use the energy the NHS staff put into practicing their dance routines while people are dying and crying ……

4 tell us about the Israeli cure ….

5 if more men are dying from covid would it be best if less NHS male staff are exposed to covid sufferers – after all – you’re making a big thing about disproportionality of coloured sufferers – so what about men?

6 how long are you going to talk about protecting the most exposed to the virus in care homes before doing something about it ? Or do you want them all dead ?

7 what proportion of state v private care home s have deaths from the Chinese virus ?

8 when is the Bank of England putting up interest rates in order to borrow money to keep paying furlough cases ?

9 when does the UK go bust ?

Now let’s have a look at a few meaningless graphs .

I`ll give you £300 if the BBC asks any of these questions at any of the Cabinet debreifs aired @5 o clock.

Why , if there is this great emergency and the British people are effectively under house arrest , is the government allowing people to invade our shores and settle here ?

Can you guarantee that none of them have Covid 19 or any other illness ?

They are inspected medically when they claim asylum , who gives them the examination , what duties are they taken from to attend these arrivals and is PPE used ?

Where are they kept while their asylum application is processed , who oversees them , what equipment is used and what is the cost ?

If you think that there will be an increase in unemployment after this emergency , why are we allowing more people in to increase the unemployment even further or displace people already here ?

Where are/do these live when they settle here , who pays for their housing , how does it help our housing shortage ?

I dont suppose we`ll hear from Maxi or Piku now for a while .

I don’t know if anyone else caught a glimpse of Good Morning Britain earlier on ITV?
They were discussing the Neil Ferguson debacle and the fact that the man who has advised the rest of us to live in self imposed exile for seven weeks, has been found in blatant contravention of his own rules.
Under normal circumstances I wouldn’t mind. I’m not holier than thou. It’s been discovered that he’s been canoodling (polite, aren’t I) with a married woman. None of my business. Usually I’d say, “so what?” but…
The rest of the population have been treated like pariahs if we so much as take our dog out for an extended walkies. Hikers have been chased from deserted hillsides by police drones. Coppers have told some people to get out of their own gardens. The lock down has created a curtain twitchers and jobsworth heaven.
So this morning it was just too delicious watching that festering and spiteful old gargoyle, John Sweeney, seething though his beard, attempting to slur everyone else and defend the indefensable.
He was spluttering and spewing out snide accusations left right and centre.
John Sweeney is a vicious, bullying little man. He gives me the creeps.
I’m not gloating at the embarrassment of prof’ Ferguson…
But I am delighted at the discomfort caused to some of his odious supporters.

Classic examples of how truly p*** poor the BBC news is.

On the 1 pm news they run a story ‘why are the effects of CV19 so different for different people’.
A decent enough and fair question.
This is followed by a vox pop of two carefully selected CV19 sufferers telling us how they have suffered waves of recurrent symptoms for several weeks. This goes on for a while. At the end a medic is ‘interviewed’ who states, hey presto, that after many diseases people during recovery have good days and bad days.
In other words a decent question is drowned out by a torrent of uninformative scare-mongering. No attempt is made to explain.
Nest up. How is a family getting on, cooped up on the 15 th floor of a block of flats. They talk to the father whose name, wouldn’t you know it, is Mohammed. What are the chances of that?

There’s more. Captain Tom virtue-signalling programme tonight at 7.30.

Don’t post on here very often, in fact only my second time, although read comments every day. Anyway did any body watch the Govt speech last night? When the woman next to Raab took over, Angela something, doing the chart thing, they were going though some graphs. As they got to the one on tests I had to rewind it. The bar graph was blue ( NHS tests) and part of the bar was orange (private tests) as you can imagine the blue part at the end of March was nearly all blue and slowly as the months went on the bar got taller (obviously, more tests). Near the end of the month they really ramped up, but one thing got me, at the end of April the NHS tests went right down to almost the same as the beginning of April and the orange part made up the rest. Remember this was the day Matt Hancock had to hit 100,000. Do you think the doctors and people testing did this on purpose so he would miss his target? Maybe Mr Hancock (or more likely Dominic Cummings) new this, hence the 40,000 tests sent out in the post. I have tried to find the bar graph on Google but can’t for some reason. I am surprised nobody has picked this up, or maybe I’ a crazy conspiricy theorist.

People have no money. People are desperate.
Does it really matter that barbers are doing a few haircuts on the side.

maybe they should be looking into why the NHS sent old people back to care homes.

Borderline entrapment isn’t it? Ok so the act hasn’t taken place, still, should a well respected state broadcaster be asking barbers to flout the law for financial gain?

Loved these snippets from a couple of ‘letters’ in todays D/Mail…..

“……Matters would improve greatly if the BBC reported the news instead of trying to create it and its staff stopped asking ridiculous questions to which there are no answers….”

“…….Instead, why not put out more balanced, less whingeing news broadcasts? As for the endless questions at the daily briefings about when the lockdown will end, the BBC journalists are like children in the back of the car asking “are we there yet?”

Clearly the public are getting thoroughly pissed off with how journalists are behaving. Standing in the endless queues outside shops now, one gets chatting to fellow ‘queuers’ and invariably everyone is of the same mindset – getting fed up with the doom laden news, and the general consensus is we all have to live with it, and its pointless having a blame game, it is what it is.

I have yet to chat to anyone who is critical of the Government, in fact its more a case of “they’re doing the best they can”, which is not what the media or lefties want to hear.

just Imagine that lot behaving if we were at war ?
We had a sample of them during the ‘Falklands Argie Bargie.’
It still leaves a bitter taste in my mouth.

Our nhs is the envy of the world, they keep on saying it so it must be true.
I wonder how many deaths it would have been if we only had a health system like Germany, Japan or Scandinavia.
I think we wouldn’t be top of the league in Europe as we are now.
    Number 2 in the world.

Perhaps shifting old people out of hospitals and into the Death Camps where they share the virus with the rest of the inmates isn’t such a good idea, ranking alongside the daily unchecked letting in of tens of thousands through the airports (and any beach) from everywhere in the world where they can mix freely with us all.

Still, the bobbies can stop you sunbathing in your garden or follow you with a drone if you walk your dog in the countryside and the nurses and doctors can practice new dance routines for youtube, Facebook and the holy grail, bbc tv news.

EG – I think the ‘excuse ‘ will be that the UK is very good at counting things – unlike Jonnie foreigner .

At PMQs Keir Starmer – who played well against BoJo – challenged him on the awful numbers – BoJo said we couldn’t make sensible comparisons with other countries .

Starmer then rightly held up that accursed graph of different countries they trot out every afternoon and asked why the government briefing was relying on comparing countries –

BoJo floundered on that . I felt Starmer cares more about care homes than the BoJo government does . ( by the way I’d never vote labour and am a far right winger )

And to be a bit defensive – To me Far Right means – small government – low taxes – border control – deporting foreigners who break the law – and a cut down state … and a privatised /no BBC ( troll fodder )

The elephant in the room is surely this; if the German system is so good then what’s the point of the NHS?

Does this mean that Al Beeb is getting worried ?

It means they want to wind people up into thinking all this uncertainty we dont need in the midst of a pandemic. Sorry BBC you never stop do you, but your agenda has been outed ages ago.

“You can fool all the people some of the time and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time”.

    Government Briefing
Run by the minister for setting up task forces …?

No ‘heavyweight ‘ journos – so no ‘shagger’ questions – I put up 9? Questions which common sense might have asked earlier to day . No ticks .

The numbers as usual mean nothing

Strange that the government is happy to allow The number of Care Home deaths to be delayed week after week instead of changing counting systems to give a daily provisional number – which might make the government / NHS to do something . Me thinks the ONS just say ‘puter sez no’.

The counting level is down to 75k a day – a long way from the 250k the PM wanted a couple of weeks ago.

The minister also rubbished counting techniques across Countries despite Putting up that comparative graph of nations . No journo picked up on this even though keir Starmer raised it at PMQs . There are a lot of people involved in all of this who are not the sharpest knives in the box .

RE sharpest knives, I gave up watching the briefings and bbc response after 3 weeks of the Karlsberg woman banging on and on and on about testing, and on the day the Govt achieved (however they did it) the stated target, bbc IMMEDIATELY dragged someone onto their news to say testing was useless without track and trace

The BBC and PTB keep going on about BAME people suffering from Covid 19
How about seeing the difference between those on shift work or working nights and their susceptibility to the disease to the rest of the population ?

    • Darcy3 says:

I would strongly suggest this issue is treated with the same gravitas as BAME people and London stabbings and BAME people and organised, racially aggravated gang rape of underage white children

and BAME people wandering around the south coast beaches and popping out of lorry containers without passports

and BAME people who claim asylum because they are persecuted then once they get a passport pop back off to the said country for annual holidays
