Do you notice the BBC has obsessions ? One obsession is Dominic Cummings . Now it is about ‘ largely peaceful ‘ protests on behalf of a criminal who was killed by american police .
‘Largely peaceful ‘ -by the way – In BBC speak -now means 27 london coppers injured and some hospitalised …. It’s lucky none are ‘largely dead’.

How did you feel when you saw a London policeman take the knee and bend his head in deference to the protesters? Mr D and I saw it separately on our computers. independently we both described it as feeling sick when we saw it.

Well if they weren’t already, I suspect it might turn decent upstanding citizens into racists after seeing it Deborah. I saw 2 policemen kneeling whilst hoodies with the latest phones were taking videos and pictures of this. What have we come to ? Personally I feel those policemen should be reprimanded for exhibiting an opinion.
That community will now believe they will have a free rein to deal and carry weapons with impunity, and that they have got one over ‘whitey’. And its sure as hell going to mean that after this debacle our police will be told to go not only softly softly, but to practically be horizontal when dealing with the black community.
‘Respect’ is an overused word by them when confronting rival gangs, but with their lack of intelligence they haven’t a clue of its wider meaning. But they certainly know how to incite violence in the lyrics of their Rap music.
Almost 72 this is the worst time I have ever experienced in this country I have grown up in.

‘Anarchy reigns OK?’
We all need to adjust to the new reality. Boris pontificating about how the “vast majority” were peaceable but its always the, ‘small minority’. Well Boris, it was the vast majority who displayed total disregard for your distancing rules. But hey! the mass, either small or massive, don’t give a toss for what Boris has to say anyway.
On the same theme, the population of the UK is roughly split between 87% indigenous white and 13% foreign or of foreign extract. But, let’s let the “small minority” dictate what the “vast majority” endure. Why not? After all, to the minds of the “tiny minority” that’s their warped interpretation of democracy at work.
And why, certainly in the case of blacks, can they not jump on the muslim bandwagon and dictate/determine how and by what rules the 87% operate by. Thanks Government of all shades, the foreigners (believing they are British ‘Citizens’ of course) have learnt by your inability to exercise control, that they themselves can impose it. .Nature abhors a vacuum’. And, those closer to “Nature”(?) than we indigenous, now know no bounds.

“Personally I feel those policemen should be reprimanded for exhibiting an opinion.”
Reprimanded? They should be summarily dismissed for bringing the police into disrepute – there is provision within their employment contracts for this. And the person incharge (sic) of the Metropolitan police should be invited to tender their resignation.

Not the BBC, but one of their US partners, and highly relevant because of the first BLM incident.
Cast your mind back to Trayvon Martin (Barak Obama) My son might have been Trayvon – a violent criminal Barak?
Zimmerman was accused of being motivated by racism and of having racially profiled Martin.
During early media coverage of the incident, Zimmerman’s call to the police dispatcher was misleadingly edited by NBC so that it appeared that Zimmerman had volunteered Martin’s race.
The unedited audio recording proved that the police dispatcher specifically asked about Martin’s race, and only then did Zimmerman reveal that Martin was black. NBC apologized for the misleading edit and disciplined those involved.
There you have it! Proof that the scum media were faking the news and attempting to stir up race hate and violence and they would have gotten away with it if it hadn’t been for those pesky people exposing them for what they are.
The UK media are every bit as bad as the US if not worse.

PARTIAL QUOTE – Local slave trade
Many nations such as the Ashanti of present-day Ghana and the Yoruba of present-day Nigeria were involved in slave-trading. Groups such as the Imbangala of Angola and the Nyamwezi of Tanzania would serve as intermediaries or roving bands, waging war on African states to capture people for export as slaves. Historians John Thornton and Linda Heywood of Boston University have estimated that of the Africans captured and then sold as slaves to the New World in the Atlantic slave trade, around 90% were enslaved by fellow Africans who sold them to European traders.[19] Henry Louis Gates, the Harvard Chair of African and African American Studies, has stated that “without complex business partnerships between African elites and European traders and commercial agents, the slave trade to the New World would have been impossible, at least on the scale it occurred.”

Peter – I think you’re going to be waiting a long time for that old chap, so sleep well! They’re going to be running with this for weeks, months -apparently years cannot be excluded.
Rianna Croxford runs a lengthy feature on beeb tv news; digging up the past to uncover ‘police brutality’ is the approach. Pictures going back to the Brixton riots. It’s all just a riot. This time, were told, they’re going to go on until they get ‘change’. Exactly what that means, is not defined.
A perfect little propaganda piece to keep the pot on the boil. This is now the media’s role, and they’re very happy with it. After all, the Cummings thing has been squeezed dry for weeks and weeks. So now there’s a new obsession.
The rioters feed off the media and the media feed off the rioters. It’s called symbiosis or something. They assume it’s even more entertaining; with Cummings you didn’t get flying bricks, burning, looting, etc. Let’s keep destruction going…

This BBC article https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/newsbeat-52877803 about the riots, we clearly see from it what political ideology the BBC has subscribed to WHEN their meant to be impartial.
To ram it home they have related links, one shown here from 2018 which is there to probably stir up more problems
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-44214748
“Met Police ‘use force more often’ against black people'”
Haha, look how easy it is to see, from the title, they want to stir racial intentions, they expect people, especially the liberal left who (can be quite thick) to read through it all and then believe what the BBC want them to believe and to sow division.
An intelligent person, can probably see through this and perhaps think instead that the police use “more force often” simply because black criminals are more likely to be violent compared to their white counterparts??
How many stabbings are happening because of black on black violence? Or black on any one else violence?
BBC your leftwing biased is clear to see but the more people read your lies the more they learn to consider other view points.
If the BBC were impartial and honest the related links at the bottom of the original article would contain something about all the white people being persecuted and killed in the world or all the Christians of any colour that are being killed but no that doesn’t fit their left wing biased narrative.
If they had done that just maybe all those extreme brainwashed idiots out rioting now would think again and wouldn’t be out there.
Instead the BBC stokes division, and encourages protests and violence by forcing their one sided view onto the gullable.
Proove am wrong BBC and get one of your reporters to actually show both sides of opinion instead of your biased lies which are pumped out every day!! Rant over!

I deliberately waited until the on the hour BBC News before posting. I wanted to hear the BBC spin on events so far today.
So, it began with a sympathetic piece on the wanton vandalism and destruction of a historic statue in Bristol. The reporting then moved on to endless sympathetic black voices on evil Racism and awful white people oppressing them and ended with a reminder (underscored, I might add) that the majority of protests are peaceful.
No mention of the defilement of the Churchill memorial, no counter argument to the protests, no health caveat, no balance whatsoever.
Shall we seek reparations from Denmark for the Dangeld and slaves taken in the 10th century? Do we remove the statue of Boudica given she murdered 50,000 Romans and burned London to the ground in the 1st? Do we rename the port of Dublin? for its entire being was based on White slavey? What about former prime minister William Gladstone…where does this insanity end?
Aside from a statue of the Archangel Gabriel, every single historic figure, just like every one of us, is flawed on some level. Particularly so when judged by todays leftist puritanical standards.
The BBC is, in essence now, the broadcasting wing of ANTIFA. It’s agenda through Brexit was so overtly bias I thought nothing could ever eclipse it. I was wrong. Today it sank further.
Not criticising the defilement of the Man who led us through World War II on this particular weekend is a low I thought I’d never see, even from the BBC.
I truly fear for this country. I am incensed and many like me are too. I guess battle lines are being drawn.

In the coming months, as a result of the demonstrations (riots), the police will be even more cowed than previously.
They will be even more hamstrung when dealing with street crime, and reluctant to do stop-and-search for fear of being called racist.
Consequently there will be more guns, knives and drugs on our streets, and more killings, mainly of blacks.
BLM will then bleat on about how society does nothing to protect the lives of young black men, which the beeb will lap up enthusiastically.
Criminals will be emboldened.
With all the anti-police and anti-white frenzy that has been whipped up by the media and the racist BBC, morale in the police will fall further.
The odious beeb will invite ever more angry woke SJW types to tell us how racist we all are, and sniff out imaginary racism under every bed.
Overall, race relations will deteriorate still further.
Well done BLM, it’s what you wanted all along. Racial conflict is your raison d’etre, without which you lose your Soros funding,

Funny how not so long ago on the Beeb that teachers were telling us how essential it was for children to be in school and parents should not take children out of school during term-time – even with their Head’s permission – for cheap holidays, irrespective of the educational value of a particular holiday. Childrens’ education would be damaged they said. Beeboids made confirming noises in approval of the teachers’ comments.
At the present time in the UK some teachers are quite happy to see childrens’ education damaged and are refusing to re-open some schools. Have the BBC made any disapproving comments about these teachers?
I wonder ……
Any condemnation of the teachers, BBC?
No?

Stew – trying to be nice/decent with rioters never works; it merely encourages them. What they see is not decency, it’s WEAKNESS! At the same time, they are trying to create martyrs, ably assisted by beeb & Co. So, difficult for police, but the balance has to tilt in favour of Law and Order, or we shall have anarchy.

In the above clip the police are on the defensive as usual. But I don’t blame them: the climate of thought created by the opinion formers (BBC etc) doesn’t leave them much alternative but to retreat, surrender, appease, compromise and generally pander to the savage mob, who grow bolder at each new concession.
The barbarians are no longer just at the gates, they’re in the citadel and manning the gates.
The rot is so deep, from our schools and universities to all the institutions that are supposed to uphold and protect civilisation, that it will take years, decades, to eradicate – assuming there’s even the will to do so.

I turned it on a few minutes ago and got the distinct impresion that Ruth Alexander was about to lecture us all that ‘black’ men are universally regarded as ‘dangerous’ and it’s all our fault by believing the stereotypes. (Stereotypes being simplified common knowledge – we all know tigers bite, we don’t check to see if we have met the one-in-a-million that doesn’t).
Sorry Ruth, I just turn off when the BBC gets stuck into one of its themes, whether that be ‘stamp collecting month’ or ‘you are racists, like Trump, Boris, Nigel and Dominic’.

Our daughter starts secondary school next Autumn and I know we’re playing Russian roulette with her education! ????
C’mon there must be parents on here whose kids were educated from 1997 onwards, what are these children coming out with now that you don’t agree with ????
Yes. My oldest in now 20, so born in 2000 and we had a discussion over dinner tonight about this.
Firstly, there is enormous social media pressure to conform. It isn’t enough to avoid disagreeing with others. If you don’t reply with approval you are asked why you haven’t and asked if you are a racist. She cannot go on social media without being assailed on her timeline with items about racism. You can try to mute things but as already noted, failure to reply in agreement is an offence. If she posts anything not about racism she’ll be asked why she is posting something as trivial when racism is the important thing right now. It’s bullying, plain and simple, with the risk of being tagged “right wing”.
I’ve always considered my daughter to have her head fairly well screwed on. Yet we had an argument where she seriously insisted that it is not possible for black people to be racist to whites because of our privileged position. Blacks have always been put at a level below us and since we’ve never been at a level below them nothing they say to us is racist. This quite clearly stems from whatever it is that has been drummed into them at school.
I pointed out that it appeared she had been educated into being guilty about her race and the achievements of her country. Her argument – this country’s achievements were made through slavery and racism. There is therefore nothing to be proud of.
So there you have it. That is what is being taught in schools today. And that is why I am profoundly pessimistic about the prospects for our country and indeed the west, because I don’t think it’s just happened in this country. It will take immense work to undo this damage and there simply isn’t the political will to do so. In fact I do not believe any serious politician even recognises the problem.
We are now getting the first obvious results of this indoctrination. It will only get worse before anyone in power begins to talk about it.

Roland, I found what you said as very scary. Indoctrination/brainwashing is right, as though they belong to some cult, and where there is no room for reasonable debate, just their way or no way. And seeing the unfettered mad dog behaviour at those who pulled the statue down in Bristol, was like a scene from Soddom & Gomorrah where the inhabitants were worked up into a frenzy. And now there are vandals at the Cenotaph. The water cannons need bringing out.

theleft, my son is 15, at Secondary, popular and doing well academically. Luckily we live out in the sticks, and the senior leadership at the school, and most parents locally, are pretty sensible (old fashioned), although quite a few of his teachers (mostly mid 20ish and no experience of the real world) are either outspoken Guardian reading lefties, or just outright freaks.
We keep a close involvement with our son – dinners at the table, discussion about school, work, friends etc… nothing out of bounds. He knows our opinions, we know his, his teachers’ and his friends’. He also knows it’s okay for him to form his own opinions, to be his own man, and to disagree – with us, with his teachers, with his friends and classmates – so long as he does it politely and knows when to keep his mouth shut and ‘nod along’ to keep the peace. I’ve never insisted he agree with me, and we regularly chat about whatever current affairs have caught his eye, or been talked about at school, trying to see it from different angles, and understand why people might disagree. That seems important to me too, understanding that people don’t always have to agree, and can still be friends, and work together.
My feeling is if you teach your kids to think for themselves, not to believe everything they’re told, and not to be scared to be ‘different’ and to disagree, but also to be aware of others and when it’s right to keep quiet to avoid trouble, then you’ve taught them pretty much everything they need to know.
After that, it largely comes down to trust (in your child, not in their teachers, the education system, the government, the state, the police, the BBC etc….none of whom can be trusted). Good luck.
Roland, I’m really sorry to hear about the bullying your daughter has been subjected to. I think girls are perhaps more susceptible to peer pressure than boys, and social media doesn’t help. Hopefully, she has grown out of it, or will in time, and will have the self confidence to be her own woman. We need young people with the strength of will not to be sheep.
Thing is, BB, this is not a bullying that is aimed specifically at her. Everyone gets it. It’s simply how social media works.
In truth, I think she knows it’s nonsense, but can’t afford to admit it to herself for fear of giving herself away. Or perhaps that’s just a hopeful father speaking.
I also think you are right about boys. My son is two years younger and says he gets less of it. There was one girl of colour (that’s black to you and I) on his chat group who accused one boy of being racist because he called her a monkey when he was nine. She was told by his friends in no uncertain terms where to get off.

One son’s girlfriend at Uni is lovely.
Bright, sweet… even to his horror friended me on Facebook.
Not a big issue as they barely post.
She is now RTing BLM mantras including demands to pass on or be deemed complicit. For his sake I have resisted replying. Therein lies a problem of the silent majority approach. The Alinskyites depend on that as much as the noise from their sheep.
Here’s a response posted locally to a BLM protest piece in the BBC local democracy media comprising the placards:
‘Black lives matter’ – no argument.
‘No justice – no peace’ – not so keen on this one. Justice denied is not acceptable, but threats in response moves simply to a second wrong. In the case in question the law was broken, the perpetrator arrested, charged and now awaits trial.
‘No lives matter until black lives matter’ – Nope. And how about grades of colour? And what matters within colours? And….?
‘Silence is violence’ – a new twist on ‘sticks and stones…’ combined with ‘if you are not with me you are against me’? Again, no.
‘Silence is not an option’ – as a fundamental of free speech, it really is. Ironically.
‘Your silence is compliance’ – see above.
’Silence is violence’ – in my day is was golden. Oh, well. It does raise a key point. Is politely staying mute over what you do not agree with now deemed ‘violence’ to those claiming it, on behalf of others? If so, what is proposed in defence? Attack? See where that leads.
‘They kill our Dad’s…’ Who is this ‘they’? Which dads?
‘ACAB’ – had to look that up. Nope.
‘The UK is not innocent’ – of what? By whose measure?
‘Be actively anti-racist – needs explaining further. Racism is illegal.
‘If you are not livid then you are not listening’ – as over-general as it is open to the law of unintended consequences in other directions. Careful what is wished for.
‘Change is coming’ – so is a storm, apparently. Ned. Like many, unspecific and meaningless. Change is always coming. It gets put forward in elections and voted upon.
‘You value education, but refuse to educate yourselves’ – depends on the specific target of this ‘you’. Many do value education and do educate themselves constantly. So far few of the messages shared suggest anything of value if much new of concern.
‘Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere- absolutely. Interestingly, worryingly, multiple tracks of justice enforcement and legal process are currently causing serious concerns amongst the law abiding.

There is a growing counter culture to all this nonsense though. Gen Z spend a lot of their time on their consoles. On these consoles they watch a lot of YouTube, and all the most popular channels are overwhelmingly conservative. My children are too young yet but I’ve seen it with my own eyes with my nephews. They actually know who PJW is.
People like Pewdiepie have massive sway with the kids, that’s why the left have gone after him a few times, and he isnt even particularly political. I think he made a Hitler joke once and that was enough. I do predict a reversal to this crap through natural rebellion when ideas become too conformist and authoritarian.

I was born in 1987 and my age group seemed to have missed out on this heavy left wing take over of the schools. When I started secondary school just over 20 years ago I could not recall anything too left wing about the teachers. Blair had only just got into power so any ‘reforms’ would have not taken place over night.
There was this gradual unease I felt about Blair though. It started for me in 2002 which was before Iraq so my concern was much more deeper than what most people felt.
A few changes started coming in as I left school and clearly much after. Religious Education or RE had its name changed to ‘Cultural Studies’ in September 2002. A new subject appeared for the younger years called ‘Citizenship’ but we missed out on that so not really sure what went on in that lesson.
After we left school we heard how things started to get daft. Schools started finishing earlier some days of the week. Lots of mollycoddling of the bad kids who caused havoc in the classrooms but seemed to be the focus of some schools. It was not unknown that certain kids would be given a day off during Ofsted visits.
The storm of social media since the late 2000s makes things harder to combat now. Lots of virtue signalling goes on as people pick up on the latest craze. A few years back in 2014-2015 everyone had rainbow Facebook profile pictures to celbrating gay weddings. I did not bother but I had the French flag after the Paris attacks in late 2015. People said ‘Pray for Manchester’ after the attacks at the concert but very quickly moved towards Grenfell. The media forgot all about Manchester but became obsessed with Grenfell for years.
Todays youngsters would not remember a time before social media so to them the trends they pick up are the norm. Hitting like or share shows approval. Teenage girls compete with each other on who gets the most likes for a selfie. If you don’t get many likes you are apparently not good enough. Most people fake their lives online.
As for the BBC they need to go. They are not the only problem but they are a huge problem with their fake and biased reporting and clearly fanning the flames of public disorder.

Roland et al. there does seem to be a big difference between boys and girls (and girlish boys – plenty of those around right now), re. social media and peer pressure. My niece went through what seems to be the ‘normal route’ with young girls these days of feeling pressured into ‘liking’, and forwarding every bit of self righteous (ignorant!) virtue signalling and every tedious selfie sent by her vacuous friends – mostly, I’m sure for fear of becoming a virtual outcast. Now she’s 21, living with a boyfriend who is training as an army officer (and seems to have his head screwed on right), and all that is long gone. In fact, I have a sneaking feeling she’s starting to sound a little ‘right wing’, but hush.
Gilead is right, my son and his friends are very much into YouTube, in my son’s case he’s never known the BBC and live TV (well not since watching Cbeebies when he was 6, anyway), and certainly not interested in looking at selfies, or ‘liking’ anyone (although I do hope he might eventually develop a liking for girls… all things considered). Like the more radical left wing teachers at school, he just thinks it’s all hilarious and laughs at them, then comes home and boots up the consol, or gets his bike out and goes for a ride, until dinner ‘magically’ appears on the table.
Can’t help thinking he’s got his priorities right, and Gen Z will sort itself out.

I reiterate I don’t expect Cressida Dick to protect the
statue of Winston Churchill. And I expect the anarchists at
the BBC will encourage their thug brothers to
destroy the statue as well.
We need to get a vigilante together to protect the statue.
I will give my life to protect it. You can then march for me
with placards saying white lives matter . And F– K the
BBC as well !!!

Foscari. Well said.
It seems like you are the only man in Britain willing to stand up to the mob. I would have thought there would be a cordon of patriots around it by now defying the mob and the police.
If the brits can’t defend Churchill,s statue and memory then all hope is lost is it not?
I’m a very long way from London and air travel restrictions are in place. I can’t join you.

I would be there…so would my wife…trouble is we are not sure when the attack will start – can somebody please ask Owen Jones?
We just have to hope that the vast majority of people are nice and these ‘activists’ are the minority – but the Police need to get a grip and the Mayor of London – where is he?
– too busy banning posters of bikini girls in case they offend somebody….

‘I think we’ve got to presume that television is a contributing influence towards violence and disorder in society. Whatever television touches it magnifies, it inflates, it projects, and it spreads.
Such power should be put on the side of civilised order and civilised behaviour. Television in other words should be biased in favour of reason.’
These are not my words but those of the late Robin Day, in 1998.
If we replace the word ‘television’ with ‘BBC’ and think about its coverage of the BLM demos and much else of its output then we can see utterly depraved BBC news has become over these past years.

These protesters are getting stupid now. Why attack the Churchill Statue?
And that Colston one in Bristol might be controversial but the city council obviously have no problem with it as they would have removed it years ago otherwise.
What is going to get attacked next? The protests are nothing to do with race but just another attack on everything British by the anarchists and no doubt it would be Boris who gets the blame when the numbers of infections go up again as a result of this.
A second wave is now likely.
As for the BBC I do not even want to talk about them at the moment

Sadly I hear or see no leadership from Boris at this time.
My conclusion is that unless the useless cowardly incompetent tories start to enact some tough justice on the scum media and filth destroying our heritage, then he is part of the problem.

“These protesters are getting stupid now.”
They’ve been stupid from Day 1.
They’ve been stupid for years, as poisonous ideas have infiltrated and corrupted our society from all quarters.
We’re now beginning to see the results. I fear things will get much worse.

The Colston one was smart tactics.
Immediately used as planned as strawmen by all the usual suspects against any concerned about escalation.
But they could not control their own mob. Many will be aware of London but not another right-on coastal backwater. And even the bbc cannot pretend Bristol is the entire country.
Or can they?

Getting to be a familiar sight. I do like the skipping movements as the cops retreat facing the peaceful mob.
Experience with Tik Tok ?

Somebody pretending to be Boris Johnson – who apparently is the current PM – has displayed Churchillian oratory by putting out a tweet at about 2100 Sunday Night saying “its very bad”.
As a result the dark ferals have started to shake hands with the plod , apologised for their conduct and cleaned up the mess before handing themselves in for justice to take its course …..

Boris’s tweet will sort out the rioters; they won’t dare defy a man who’s so utterly determined to restore law and order.

Impossible, we will have to do it ourselves.
If the Government is unwilling to carry it its primary duty, of protecting the population, it loses the right to govern.
This “problem” only exists because of Governments, former Governments and would be Governments. Traitors all.
Farage for President. I do mean president. This has all taken place under the rule of EAM Windsor, the worst Monarch in our history.
She needs to live abroad PDQ.
Did any of us ever request that UK be invaded by millions of foreigners? Answer no.
I support a patriotic Military coup in the UK.

Beeb TV news at 10 rambles on about a ‘call for change’. But what does that mean?
I suppose David Lammy as Prime Minister?
Statues violently ripped apart. Somerset and Avon Police wear yellow vests (appropriate) and talk their way out, saying they did the right thing, doing nothing. So anyone can smash up anything they like, cos of police ‘sensitivities’? 27 police injured. M6 closed. Do whatever you like? All peaceful, beeb assures us. Very reassuring for the public. But then, they don’t count.
Maybe the rioters would feel more at home in Africa? I understand there’s lots of space in Zaire?
DEFUND THE BBC!

Real news
Shaun Bailey retweeted someone who was praising some people who cleaned the vandalised monuments
.. and those people happen to be TR supporters
.. So obviously in this Orwellian Britain2020 non-persons
So Shaun was forced to delete his tweet.

In 14 days time we will know if this social distancing thing actually works. If we don’t see a massive spike after this then we can all go back to normal.
So thank you again protesters you’ve done the work of 100 of (BME) scientists we will soon know if social distancing is “boll@@is or is indeed still needed.

“Police accuse man of killing retired police captain who tried to stop looting during protests
St. Louis police arrested a man Sunday in connection with the killing of a retired police captain who was trying to stop the looting of his friend’s store during protests last week.
The fatal shooting was captured on live video on Facebook, but has been taken down. The video showed Dorn, 77, sprawled out on the sidewalk bleeding as looters continued to go into and out of the store he was trying to protect.

Who sold the slaves to the slave traders?
Yesterday’s events were the results of the rubbish that has been taught in the “yooones” by liberal professors that have never had real job and that have never lived in a real world . What about pulling down the pyramids or all of Ancient Rome. Or any effigy that offends anyone?
IMHO the first thing that needs pulling down is Al Beeb because it’s rotten to the core.

Why aren’t the racist protesters venting their spleen against Arabs who still to this day have slaves, many from Africa?
Hi Taff – posted this earlier, but as you say some idiots need a refresher on slavery.
“Local slave trade

A surprise lockdown apology from my ex
It was another Friday evening in lockdown, staring at a computer screen, toggling between news sites and social media, when the email from James arrived. Irina waited a beat, trying to recall the last time she had thought of her first boyfriend, before clicking it open. “Irina, I know this is out of the blue and years too late,” it began, “but this is a message I need to send.” In the 800-word-message, James explained that lockdown had forced him to assess his own past behaviour, and he felt he owed her an apology for his immaturity all those years ago .

Megha’s further ‘analysis’ of this must read essential journalism is of course a link to follow.
Because it is clearly ‘newsworthy’.
What is noteworthy by total absence from the BBC daily summary is anything about largely peaceful, and hence not newsworthy events, elsewhere. Apparently.
Clearly the BBC has decided, again, that if you cannot say anything good (without getting deservedly, roundly mocked), say nothing at all.
