Midweek Thread Wednesday 12th August 2020

The coming Friday – 14th of August marks the 75th anniversary of our victory over Japan . Let’s hope that the BBC can mark it with some level of dignity without importing its’ very own Marxist views into proceedings -And that it offers ‘thanks ‘ to those who suffered and died at the hands of the Japanese . There’s always hope .

The invasion from across the English Channel continues while the defenders of our borders, ‘The Border Farce’ assist. Meanwhile our Royal Navy and Royal Marines await orders.
Before long our social services will be swamped.
Home Secretary , Prime Minister, Al Beeb, anybody ?

Taff, the senior leadership in the RN have already spoken, earlier this week they made it clear that policing the channel and turning back the invasion was not their responsibility and they could do no more than what the border farce are already doing.

As for the Tories, well useless and cowardly are the polite words to describe their abject performance. Someone called Smoggy used to come here praising them up. Yup. Really.

Picture the scenario of 10,000 Russian, or Chinese Commandos turning up on our Kent coast all claiming asylum? What would our useless government do then ?
OTT I know, but I understand that there are more asylum applicants to the UK than there are serving soldiers in the British Army ?
The Royal Marines have the trained men and the boats to deal with incursions and turn them back. This needs to be do once and then the message will go back to France .
Follow the money follow the fish , France is blackmailing our very weak government.

Taff, its indeed strange that Russian military aircraft can approach (note approach) but don’t actually enter UK airspace – with their transponders switched off posing a great danger to scheduled commercial air traffic, and our brave RAF can scramble the Quick Reaction Alert Typhoons on an intercept and turn around sortie, but a similar approach to the boatloads in the channel is not even an option. Barking mad.

The government could repeal or change legislation to protect our borders within days if it wanted to. It has the numbers. It could ignore so-call ‘International Law’ which threatens the defence and security of our nation. It could hamstring the Supreme Court. But evidently it does not have the political will to do so.

This is because liblabcon en masse all have the same vile globalist agenda. They are working in concert to destroy how our society operates. Hence they have no intention of shutting down their favourite loony mouthpiece (the bBC). MPs are so weak they even profess to ‘love’ it.

57 MPs from all major parties put their names to a letter calling for the Government to enforce a ban on the enormous vessels entering the zones, known as Marine Preservation Areas (MPAs) after Britain severs ties with the EU at the end of the year. The investigation, undertaken by the environmental pressure group Greenpeace, revealed that while ships such as the Dutch-flagged Margiris, as well as numerous Russian craft, spent 2963 hours fishing in 39 protected areas, in the first six months of 2020, supertrawlers had spent 5590 hours fishing in 19 protected areas.

This won’t be a final final count, I’m guessing the total will be later changed again, cos some people did die of Covid after 28 days

More on civil servants being so anti-Tory they deliberately do stuff .. A US caller told how the Immigration Dept of the Home Office screwed him around.
He’s married to a Brit, and has kids here. He filled in forms paid his money and got citizenship.
Yet still the HO sent officers round to his house to deport him.
He got his MP to intervene, turned out there was some other form he didn’t know about that he should also have filled in
So he did that. Meanwhile his mother died in the US, so he wanted to go to the funeral, but HO said you can’t have your passport back while we are processing.
Another immigration lawyer said phone up and quote this specific law, that you’ll accept deportation, but they’ll have to deport your entire British family with you as well.
When he did that the HO dropped their claim and sent him his passport.

No probs, we all thought… British decorated dad… just swing a UK passport and so… oh noes… epic obstacles and duly failed by MPs and ministers until we engaged the media outrage.

That was then. Now the HO and FO appear staffed mainly by BBC cubicle garden close relatives I doubt it has improved.

Not the BBC – but about VJ Day . My uncle – who passed last year was in a recce outfit of 84RTR in Burma . He was in thr NAAFI one night in 1945 playing cards with his mates . An officer came in and asked how the card game was going – ‘so so ‘ came the reply . The officer then said to the card school – the war s over – the yanks have dropped a big bomb and the jams have surrendered . The card school then carried on playing ….
……..my uncles’ outfit landed up doing the partition of India before he got demobbed …. but I never got him to talk about it . ….

He was very young at the beginning of the War and landed up in ‘dads army ‘ which he said was a ‘tough Nightmare ‘ and hated – hated the BBC version – as the real one was deadly serious ……
I might have told this story before – here – but it deserves the retelling I reckon …

My cousin never knew his father, and my great-aunt was a widow until she died 40 years later. You can’t help but look at the shambles of modern Britain and wonder, what was it all for? None of the men who died in WWII would have wanted this Britain.

You’ll need a bigger deposit, saving is going to be harder, Stamp Duty cuts won’t help you and you’re likely to have to commute further to find a job, which will cost you in travel fares.

From someone who can just about remember the summer of 1976, the last couple of days have been hot, but they hardly compare to the two weeks plus of 1976 that caused water rationing up and down the land.

An important point re Covid-19 deaths, a certain obfuscation has been introduced: no wonder Public Health (England) got their numbers wrong.

It appears that all coronavirus deaths may be being recorded as Covid-19 deaths. Now, a very elderly person especially, but also anyone younger (esp. w/underlying condition – heart, cancer, stroke victim, etc.) can die from a cold or regular influenza or the other recent animal varieties of coronavirus. All it takes is for the lung infection to develop into pneumonia – and a poor response to a-bs – and it’s ‘Goodnight Vienna’-time.

Will the BBC, with all their journalists & resources, investigate this? No?

    I thought not.

I just came across a story from June on the BBC that said that UK Newspapers were no longer going to publish their circulation figures because the effect of the pandemic on sales was giving a negative perspective on their performance in an unusual time, i.e. no one going out to the newsagent etc.

So lets look at the Guardians performance for the last decade to 2019 shall we?

    2019 – 141,160
    2018 – 152,714
    2017 – 156,756
    2016 – 164,163
    2015 – 185,429
    2014 – 207,958
    2013 – 204,440
    2012 – 215,988
    2011 – 279,308
    2010 – 302,285

God knows what it must look like in 2020! Or perhaps the pandemic has been going on for the last decade?

Or maybe go woke, go broke in action as 140 of their recently sacked staff found out.

For 2019 I estimate that around 1 out of every 426 UK residents gets the Guardian yet they still want to tell everyone what to think and how to behave.

Of course the BBC have no such worries as they can just point to the fact that everyone who owns a TV is a paying customer….by force!

I can only think of the BBC and the House of Lords as 2 organisations that are cast-iron guaranteed to make a buck come what may.

She added that ‘The government does nothing
#1 They think 4,000 illegals /year is an acceptable number
#2 They are terrified of LEFTY DEMOS and riots
That is why thy never act against grooming gangs in the north.

We spoke to coach drivers who drive the illegals
they said we know you, you are the far far right nazi groups , you send us death threats.’

It’s possible that odd nutters do send coach drivers death threats

.. but I reckon that most will be fake death threats from lefty front groups like HnH trying to build a myth that anyone who opposes open borders is a Jew-hating-nazi.

        She then said
‘We ourselves have considered direct action like chaining ourselves to the boats
but then that would trigger antifa and BLM to come down and start a riot’

I wonder if we can pay a third country to police the channel ?
        What would Russia do ?
They’d open fire on immigrant boats
saying they are a national security threat
.. and that is true they are, if they are bringing criminals.

“The other issue is about crime and political correctness
and then the Greatstone Beach, Romney Marsh incident
a huge black cookout, that she said turned into a riot that
        “4 police were injured
but they were just completely outnumbered, lost control and only arrested one person”

She references the Roma gypsy suburb of Sheffield Page Valley full of trouble

For years now we’ve been told – not least by the BBC – that all those mysterious albino-handed drug dealers, knife stabbers, machete-hackers and gun-shooters on the streets of London couldn’t be named and shamed – and definitely no photos – because they were juvenile offenders (and often re-offenders and re-re-re-re-offenders).

Yet lo, suddenly it’s ok to identify a 17-year-old boy. I wonder why?

Rocky Marciano Price is now convicted
we know where he will be on his 18th birthday .. in jail
So it is not a big deal to name him now , rather than in a few months time.

The other Rod Liddle article slags of PC and BLM zealots
    https://www.spectator.co.uk/article/we-are-living-in-a-post-truth-society/amp

Activists wish to change the name of a school in north London because it is named after a road which was named after a dairy farmer who had the same name as someone the activists dislike.
This is the Rhodes Avenue primary school in Wood Green, named after Thomas Rhodes, a great-uncle of Cecil Rhodes who died when Cecil was three. According to the activists, Thomas cannot be ‘disentangled’ from Cecil despite the fact that they are totally different people separated by two generations.

These genii would like the school to be renamed Oliver Tambo school, after the popular South African murderer and politician.

    @RenameRhodes
A campaign to see the name of Rhodes Avenue Primary School changed to be named after Oliver Tambo, the prominent Anti-apartheid campaigner.
    tweeted
The second Thomas (1801) was uncle to Cecil Rhodes
    The third Thomas (1826)
At his death in the land was sold to developers.
Some 60 years later the School was built at a time in which there was a craze for naming things after Cecil Rhodes to bolster an empire in decline.
It seems the developers heard of the old connection the the Rhodes family

FFS the road was there first and the school was named after the Road
    .. says some local guy
as he points out the activists have no hard evidence for an actual Cecil Rhodes connection.

I feel like I’ve awoken in some dystopian horror story.

Halfwits are applauded for “taking the knee”, while paying homage to a foul, racist and Marxist organisation. Has the world gone mad? How long before this lot supersede the act of Remembrance at the Cenotaph?

We’re about to face an economic crash that will absolutely devastate our country for generations to come and the hopelessly out of his depth Boris is waffling and bungling just like Nero fiddled.
It’s long been known that the left have infiltrated all of our major institutions…but I wasn’t expecting them to control the Tories. Clearly they do…

It’s now becoming abundantly clear that the Covid panic has been used as an excuse to completely reset our western nations. The climate change farce was just the beginning.
Our way of life is under severe threat…

Where we enjoyed freedom we now have restrictions. We now have a forced compliance.

I decided to give that prog’ a chance and listened. They did qualify the success of NZ (small population, distance from others) and pointed to the problems in Belgium, where both PM and Health Sec’ are women.

Still, other ‘qualifications’ were not made. In the USA, there are 50 states and what Pres. Trump says/does won’t affect what happens in all of them; it’s called federalism, BBC; for homework look it up. Bolsonaro was criticized, predictably, but there are mitigating circumstances in Brazil, e.g. favelhas, poverty and inequality, remote areas, social attitudes to gatherings/parties.

There were hints about political polarization in the US not helping a united response … but no mention that this didn’t start in 2017: Obama had politicized the CIA, FBI, IRS, education, etc, so one could understand if Republicans were suspicious of the state function, especially as regards health (think of Hillary’s Medicare and then Obamacare later, and broken promises about being able to retain your private insurance if you wanted to).

There was not a word about Merkel’s terrible decision to open the German borders in 2015 and then her coverup of the resulting rapes, crime and high welfare costs. Hardly a word about China either, a county that is judged by different standards at least as far as Covid19 is concerned if not Hong Kong.

It wasn’t the worst BBC Radio 4 output I’ve ever heard but then the bar is not set very high. Quite a lot of it was predictable and things were not said which should have been. It was broadly anti-male. Also, Amol Rajan does seem to be on air an awful lot these days.

No worries. Just jump in a rubber dingy and push off on the English Channel from France . When you get halfway across, tell the friendly Border Farce who will greet you, that you demand asylum. Quick as a jiffy, you will end up in a 4 Star hotel in Blighty where you can enjoy your free quarantine in ‘luxury lockdown’.

Allow me to present some interesting juxtapositions by way of newspaper front page items.

The ‘i’ boasts ‘Four pages’ of ‘games and puzzels…’ whilst the Telegraph has ‘Teachers handed out implausibly high predicted grades, say exams regulator’

This exam conundrum is really no mystery at all – it’s simply what happened when the teachers got to mark their own work.

Let’s interject some female celebrity angst which returns to the front pages with Gloria Estefan in the ‘i’ –
‘I couldn’t bring myself to sing – I would start crying’ Buck up, luv.

The Guardian has the manly Phil Collins ‘Best songs ranked’ as we contemplate yet another day in paradise in the ‘i’ : ‘Long Covid, symptoms that won’t go away’ – Yeah, there’s something in the air this year as the Times scolds ‘Wear facemask or you could be fined £3000, public warned’

There’s further soul searching from the virtual paper as it remembers VJ day : ‘Historians debate US decision to drop atomic bomb. View from Japan’

The view from my now long-passed former Japanese POW forebear was that the timely dropping of the bomb saved his bacon – but obviously that’s a minor consideration for the modern liberal historian. Forgive and forget, eh?

But we move on from old conflicts with the Guardian ‘Israel and UAE agree to historic diplomatic ties’ The Telegraph gives credit to the US president where the Guardian can’t bring itself to bury the hatchet ‘Trump brokers peace deal between Israel and UAE’ (Guardian readers don’t want to hear that).

And we look to new regional conflicts with the FT ‘China flexes muscles near Taiwan’ and ‘Tension between NATO allies deepen’ (That’s Turkey and Greece facing off)

Dare we add the Telegraph’s ‘France added to travel quarantine list’ as another example of an escalation of a conflict between formerly allied neighbours?
