The problem with the whole Pandemic is – from my point of view – the delinquency of journalists. Apparently worldwide. They are not doing their jobs. The people who should be most held to account are WHO and the UN. Instead, it is left to others like Tony Heller and Paul Weston and the Irish bloke on the previous Thread.
In that sort of situation, we do not know whether this was truly an animal virus or is man-made. We do not know whether it is a weapon or who it is directed at although the statistics do show some answers there. If anyone at the BBC does read this site, then the new D-G should be asked to call in the head of N&CA and give them a kick up the backside and instructions “Do your job or you are out of here.”.
Right from the start of the daily briefings the journalists could have asked questions that helped the rest of us judge risk. They didn’t. They, including Laura K and Hugh Pym who were far more bothered whether disposable gloves came in ones or twos or whether Dominic had taken a walk in the woods at a distance from other people.
10pm news BBC1 news last night. There was a report about how unfair it was that young women who have had babies during lockdown hadn’t had the same opportunities as women who had babies previously. Examples given included building up support networks. The report mentioned they were demanding money from government in recompense. The report centred on one young woman and towards the end of the report it explained she had joined the Labour Party to enable her to campaign on this issue. Well I suppose the BBC is learning that activists can be identified. But if this young woman, with a new baby, has time for activism, I guess she is doing fine, and wouldn’t top the list of greatest need.

That means using Pathology facilities & staff that may be currently used for other Covid-19 related things, testing, vaccine hunt, etc..

Aopologies, in advance, for the length of this post, but it covers a range of points.
BBC Today programme this morning. Michael Gove was on the ‘long slot’ (used to be 08:10, but now seems to be a moveable feast depending on whether the BBC can find a big enough critic of the government if a minister is to be on the ‘long slot’, or enough of the likes of Laura Kuenssberg, Katya Adler, etc., etc, to top and tail any such interview.
First of all, Mr Gove was asked to comment on the recent COVID rules changes – the last question on this segment being – “Do you want people to be fined if…..etc., etc.” Mr Gove, polite to an extreme throughout this ‘interview’, began to answer (basically he wanted it to be a deterrent)- and astonishingly, there was no interruption from Mishal Husain. I remarked to my wife that she had now stopped listening, and was obviously studiously examining her notes/points/questions for the inevitable onslaught regarding the EU Withdrawal Agreement. The Beeboids are trained to do this – she really didn’t care about the answer to the last question on that topic.
Sure enough – she then started talking over Mr Gove, and immediately launched into him with a series of questions, purportedly initially asking what changes the government wanted and why. Mr Gove explained that it, like everything else in this process, is quite complex, and started to try to clearly outline why the issue has arisen. Husain was having none of that, and proceded to verbally abuse Mr Gove, shouting over the top of his responses, asking question after question which she never even waited for answers to, before launching into another – many of which were simply malicious accusations – along the lines of, for instance “The government was either incompetent at the point where the WA was signed, or it is now – which is it ?” Mr Gove started to point out what had actually changed, but again, Ms Husain was just unwilling to listen before setting off on another ‘question’ designed simply to trap Mr Gove. To his credit, Mr Gove was unfailingly polite to the end of what was a travesty of an ‘interview’.
One of the key principles of the BBC is supposed to be ‘to educate and inform’ the British public – but it should be completely obvious that the BBC has no intention of letting the British Public become informed about this issue. Partisan, political broadcasting of the first order. At one point, Ms Husain was actually speaking for around twice the length of time that she allowed Mr Gove to answer. Disgraceful. And damn the BBC, because I want to hear what the issue is really about – not just a blanket “..well, it contravenes an agreement”. Given his positiion, Mr Gove is probably best placed to inform us on this particular topic – why is he not allowed to by the BBC ?
As well as dealing with the detail of why the British Government is doing what it is doing, the BBC surely has a responsibility to also find out why the EU thinks it should not be doing it. With that in mind, I also heard earlier on the Today programme a Polish EU representative being offered information as to why the government was doing what it was doing, and being asked if he thought there was a point to that – he simply dismissed the question as, basically, rubbish and went back to blaming the government for destroying the Good Friday Agreement. No further questions were asked along these lines. I suspect the Polish guy had no idea about the point in question – his job was simply to ignore any real discussion on the topic and point the finger ! Mr Yanis Varoufakis (former Finance Minister in the Greek Government) pointed out in the same segment that the EU had been breaking international treaties for years – and specifically, and recently, its own treaties regarding such things as government subsidies – the Polish guy simply pointed out that the UK government had been instrumental in having such behaviour banned in treaties signed by EU ministers – completely ignoring the fact that it was not the UK which was breaking these international agreements, but those such as France, Germany, etc. This, of course, was not followed up by the BBC newsreader ‘interviewing’ these two foreign representatives. Compare and contrast the treatment they received at the hands of the BBC, with the treatment dished out to Mr Gove.
It appears to me that, if the EU and its UK broadcasting wing, the BBC, are going so far to try to prevent any clarity being put forward for this action, and simply trying to dismiss it as nothing more than a distraction, then there are two possibilities – it either is really quite simple to amend, or provide a written confirmation the the UK’s fears are unfounded, and a guarantee that they will not happen or…….. there really is an issue here, and the BBC and the EU are desperately trying to defend what could essentially become a threat to the integrity of the UK, for their own political purposes. The more this goes on, I feel the latter may well be the real answer.
It is becoming clearer, and clearer to the general public, I hope, that the BBC has clearly defined political objectives and biases, and is obviously unfit for purpose. De-fund it.

Less than 15 hours after the historic announcement of a peace treaty and normalization in relations between Bahrain and Israel (brokered by Donald Trump) the story disappears from all the BBC main webpages and now occupies a minor position on the middle-east regional news section of the BBC website.

Similarly many other BBC stories promoting celebrities, the new feminist film Mulan, a black woman’s hair loss etc appeared longer on the BBC news homepage than news of the historic Bahrain – Israel Agreement.

Hi StewGreen. It’s all about trust. Do you trust the BBC knowing what you know about them? Do you trust the BBC knowing how they embed various agendas into programs etc? Do you trust the BBC when you see how they purposely traumatize children on their CBBC channel into becoming activists? I have seen worse from the BBC (maybe you have to).
The BBC operate in a state of secrecy and it would be a mistake to think that the burden of proof lies with us when they remain so secretive and we have evidence from elsewhere of their clear malpractice.
Anyway thanks for your comment, it is always good to have views challenged. It allows different perspectives to be aired and arguments to be improved. That is what free speech is about. Unfortunately there are some, like the BBC, that would have it closed down. Too often the BBC is treated with kid gloves. Sometimes we need to have a Pat Condell type of presentation.

I used to prom, many many years ago. I would buy a season ticket which included the Last Night. It had serious music first half before the Party started. Those of us who had been every night for 8 weeks thought those in the expensive seats were the interlopers. It was our party.
Since I stopped going every evening, I rarely watch The Last Night on the tv. It is like being gatecrasher.

I want to comment about the last night of the proms but am just too speechless to do so. So sad.
I have been anxiously awaiting the final details of the contestants on this year’s Strictly Come Dancing. I was slightly perturbed to see that the wanna be dancers do not accurately reflect the ethnic make- up of the country. But then I realised it’s only the biased Beeb forcing their agenda once again. Plus the whole thing has deteriorated into the typical circus trash levels that many of their so called ‘shows’ gravitate towards.
If you were worrying about Blackpool please don’t as ‘A BBC spokesman said while contestants would not physically go to Blackpool’s Tower Ballroom in 2020, they would still be “celebrating the iconic venue” from Elstree studio.’ Similarly I will celebrating a substantial pay rise this year, my team lifting the F A Cup and Jennifer Aniston moving in hopefully on Wednesday.
The organisation is a shadow of what it once was and watching it’s continual self caused decline is like viewing a tragic comedy.
