I am really looking forward to the “shake up” of a Question of
Sport on the BBC.Sue Barker and captains Matt Dawson and
    Phil Tufnell are leaving.
I do hope that the new presenter will be somebody like
Alex Scott and the new captains are those of the broadcasting
and sporting ability of Sarah Hunter the English woman’s rugby
captain and Nicola Adams the boxer who held the WBO female flyweight title.
But I suppose I should be more diverse and Dame Tanni Grey
Thomson should be the presenter.Of course the problem for
this may well be having to take the knee before the programme
    kicks off.

    Telegraph Watch

One Columnist Bubble Dweller – Simon the Heffer’s reaction to LNOTP as the BBC will now call it-

The debate about the Last Night of the Proms raises the question of what sort of event it is. It has passed from mere music into that field we call tradition, and like most traditions dates back only to just beyond living memory. We may be an old country, but few of our “traditions” would have been familiar to the average Victorian or Edwardian, the generations most assiduous in creating them.

However, some take hold strongly in what by historical standards is a very short time precisely because they are so popular. All Proms apart from the Last Night are musical events; but the Last Night has a broader cultural resonance. It has become an annual national sing-song, the songs sung heartily with little regard for the lyrics by people who are not jingoists, racists or white supremacists. Over the past 60 years or so, since the Last Night was first shown on television, the BBC has cultivated it as a celebration of national identity, and rightly so. Therefore the corporation has only itself to blame if it attracts opprobrium by tinkering with it.

“I do not hold the director of the Proms, David Pickard, responsible for the recent farrago, which has damaged the BBC, I fear, far more than even the new director-general, Tim Davie, yet realises. (Full disclosure: Pickard and I have known each other for 40 years and I have the highest admiration for him; he is a brilliant impresario.) But it is a rare senior BBC executive who has complete autonomy. He or she is usually surrounded by box-tickers who ensure compliance with whatever the ruling orthodoxy of the moment happens to be. When Pickard’s formidable predecessor, Roger Wright, resigned and went to make a conspicuous success of Britten-Pears Arts at Snape, it was reported that he had had enough of interference by people largely ignorant of what he did. I fear Pickard (who has not discussed this with me) has experienced something similar.

This moment’s ruling orthodoxy for the BBC’s compliance commissars has been Black Lives Matter. Tonight’s Finnish conductor, Dalia Stasevska, was quoted by a BBC source in August as being a BLM supporter who thought this an ideal moment to “bring change” to the Proms. Neither Stasevska nor the BBC seems to realise that the local iteration of BLM is an anarchist organisation including numerous white people committed to the destruction of capitalism.

It was initially rumoured that neither Rule, Britannia! nor Land of Hope and Glory would be performed, because of an alleged association with the “imperial” past. Then it was confirmed they would be played but without the words – for artistic reasons, since the Albert Hall will be empty, precluding a sing-along. There followed a largely ignorant debate on the meaning of the lyrics. Various prominent and thoughtful black people said this absurdity was not in their name. Even Keir Starmer said not singing the words was nonsense.

Perhaps fortified by this pronouncement, coming from the spiritual leader of so many BBC executives, it was then announced the words would be sung – moments after Davie took over. However, those who listen tonight will suffer an arrangement of Jerusalem “dedicated to the Windrush generation”. Hubert Parry, more genuinely liberal than any BLM fanatic, wrote a perfectly good arrangement when he composed the song: it is ludicrous posturing not to play it.

What’s more, there doesn’t seem to me to be a good reason to have no audience tonight – other than the can’t-do compliance culture of the BBC. I went recently to a superb concert at Snape, one of many this autumn organised at short notice by Wright, featuring Antonio Pappano and the strings of the LPO, that enraptured a sell-out socially distanced crowd in the hall. The BBC could easily have done this in the cavernous Albert Hall. The organisation’s sclerosis has seldom been so visible, nor the distance at which the compliance commissars put themselves from those who pay their salaries through the licence fee.

The BBC is not the broadcasting wing of BLM, as a senior corporation figure has mordantly suggested. For most Britons the national sing-song is about their history, not about the mindless oppression of minorities. Dissenters have the choice of doing something else, should exercise it, and leave the majority alone.”ENDS

Does the BBC never tire of finagling the figures ? Shades of Democrat voting statistics in the US, perhaps ?

There is a total of only 7.8 billion people across the whole of the earth, and far from all of them will have a clue about what you are blabbering on about.

Or perhaps two or three hundred million sheep and goats in certain parts of the world have risen above their coital attraction to the males of said parts, and self-identified as humans, just in the interests of sharing their stories, you understand ?

The Sunday papers – it’s a very British phrase. One which brings to mind getting up late, a leisurely breakfast, pottering around the house catching up on those little chores, perhaps indulging time in a cherished hobby. The sort of activies one might envisage as readily available to a retired ex-Prime Minister. And yet here they come, right on cue, Blair and Major, former managers of British decline, to take yet another pyrrhic pro-Brussels parting shot.

The Sunday Times has: ”Shocking’ Johnson shames UK, say ex-PMs’ – frankly the bending to breaking point of international law so as to invade Iraq was a bit of a shock, as was the financial shame of the UK crashing out of the ERM.

The Observer of course wants to call in the lawyers: ‘Top lawyers slam ministers for wrecking UK’s reputation’

So, a pro-EU lawyer PM would be the ideal choice to bring the UK back under the thumb of Brussels? The Telegraph just happens to host Sir Keir Starmer: ‘Stop banging on about Brexit and defeat Covid’ – yeah, come on Boris, stop trying to fulfill your election promise of getting Brexit done, put on your white coat and get to work on a vaccine.

The broadsheets have a really bad case of the man flu (Fu Manchu Flu?) The Times shrieks: ‘Virus cases in care homes spiral again’ – I would be interested to hear a full explantion of this statistical term “spiral” but perhaps some other time. For our enlightenment the Times may print the graph of a spiral. That would be a Spirograph – there’s one for the teenagers.

The Mail on Sunday continues to pussyfoot around the garden with their niche campaigns rather than properly question lockdown policy: ‘End the truama of lone births. Covid rules are forcing mothers to endure labour without loved ones by their side. Today the MoS demands…’

The Mail on Sunday encroaches on typical BBC territory with their exclusive: ‘The rugby ace who wants to tell the world: I’m bisexual’ – keep it to yourself, son.

The Times encroaches on typical tabloid territory with their headline exposing the plight of unwanted elderly pet parrots: ‘Would you adopt an 87-year old misogynist who squawks?’

Since you put like that, we already have to make do with another daft old squawker who seems determined to keep parroting on until he drops off his perch – David Attenborough in the Mail: ‘The devastatingly powerful book he says is his legacy’

They should be supported by all those who do not wish to see the people of Northern Ireland starved by the EU as an act of revenge for Brexit. Quite how such a great humanitarian as Tony Blair (cough, cough, illegal war, cough splutter?) and a great humanitarian John Major (banning of land-mines, best thing he ever did as PM – cough, cough, only good thing?) could want to see the people of Northern Ireland deprived of food from 1 January 2021, only they can and should explain.

He really ought to have been aware of what was going on with Whitehall and had an independent lawyer whizz an eye over the Withdrawal Agreement. Hopefully, with his recently-won majority and pre-Pandemic (and before his own dose of Covid-19) he would have struck through the offending clause with ink and said “I’ll sign the rest, but that bit goes.” “OK?”

The Last Night of the Proms was one of those programmes I looked forward to and always watched. Patriotic, rousing, full of vim, vigour and humour. Absolutely and brilliantly British! Last night’s attempt was a pitiful embarrassment.

The BBC have been trying to destroy this event for yonks. It’s really not their cup of Darjeeling. They find both it and its devotees embarrassing and jingoistic. In recent years we’ve seen the hall flooded with Euro flags. Completely inappropriate and in appalling taste.

Last night, due to the pan-panic, it was always going to be difficult. It couldn’t be otherwise, but trust the Beeb, to make a bad job absolutely dreadful.

Just what the Hell did they do with Jerusalem? It’s not supposed to be a scatty, out of tune jazz number. We all know it. We all love it. And we all want it. That’s why we’re watching and listening. And they foist upon us some grotesque abomination.

The BBC continue to treat us licence fee payers like dirt. They behave like pampered teenage kids having a strop. They didn’t want to give us the traditional rousing finale, but were forced to. So, they got their own back by foisting this God awful, dire dirge on us.
They loathe our history. They loathe our culture. And apart from our money, they loathe us.

I read that Alesha Dixon is standing by the Diversity dance on BGT, and supports Ashley Banjo, and will consider leaving the show if ITV apologises in response to the number of complaints.

Well, as Ms Dixon is mixed race, I wonder what the hell her white parent thinks about that ! Isn’t it amazing how all these mixed race are all coming down on the side of their black parent ?

pug, the reality from NI as maybe the occasional contributor here, rich, will confirm is that the peace in NI following the Peace Agreement has been very fragile and one-sided. • Rich says:

I believe you’re right Snuff, as is Pug.

A very simple question that the media ignore, who exactly is threatening the peace? It’s all of the above that you mention of course, who continue to control the narrative, aided and abetted by the majority of the media North and South and now also East and West, and who are being allowed to indiscriminately and falsely rewrite history.

It seems to me that the media favour two groups here. An emboldened and indoctrinated Nationalist youth, their heads full of romantic Republican tales spewed by cowardly fireside fusiliers, who go unchallenged by those who should and could. and also the self- loathing chattering classes from North Down and South Belfast who worry more about their journeys to Dublin to watch rugby twice a year and their annual ski trips being lengthened by half-an-hour than their “embarrassing and bigoted” culture being ridiculed and eroded. The presentation of these viewpoints as being truly representative of the province as a whole is disingenuous and deliberately misleading.

The perception amongst the still-just-about majority Unionist population is that they have and are being talked around and ignored. The conflated notion that voting to remain in the EU as NI numerically did means that the people of NI want a United Ireland is wrong. Very, very wrong.

The higher populated areas of North and East Ulster, traditionally working-class Protestant and prosperous voted to leave the EU and are overwhelmingly pro-union. It would be very stupid to ignore them.

There were a couple of other points.

“emboldened youth… every woke agenda, oblivious yet opposed to every opinion different to their own”

“chattering classes… disproportionate number of public sector pseudos, economically insulated, who inhabit the same bubble as their media cohorts”

“a majority in the North and East of Ulster, traditionally working-class Protestant and prosperous even before the EU, now losing large numbers of well-paid factory jobs to Europe and experiencing social issues connected to relatively high rates of Eastern European immigration, voted to leave the EU and are overwhelmingly pro-Union”.

Not dissimilar to the issues on the mainland then but you wouldn’t know it.

Ah it has the end bit where a policeman has been issued with a list of those arrested that day
and is touring their houses at night checking they are in compliance.
When he turns up at Avi’s hous, Avi sends him away ..cos he has video proof his was a wrongful arrest.. the police claim that he defied an order is not true.

Trump is holding almost daily mass rallies, full to capacity and bursting with energy and enthusiasm.

But you would never know it from the BBC, who report none of it. Bias by omission.

Instead you get never-ending pieces denigrating him and the GOP. More bias.

Please let him win, if only to see the long faces at the beeb.

Im sure the Americans see the BBC as just another socialist european wimp and treat it accordingly – third worlders still think it speaks the truth but grown ups know better .

Sadly many Americans still have the old perception of the beeb: tradition, WW2, Churchill speeches, monarchy, fair play… sophisticated, intelligent, cultured, impartial. Even the British accent inspires trust in them.

How tragic that the bbc is still trading on those long gone qualities, and are now no better than the American fake news outlets like CNN etc.

Vlad. I think a mass breakdown in law & order is inevitable in the US leading to some sort of civil war.

I also think the English culture and its western enlightenment values will also inevitably be destroyed.

However I still think we should fight against the dying out of the light.

It might end up like George Orwell’s 1984, but I don’t think it will be so peaceable. Enoch Powell was intelligent and wise and what he said was worthy of serious attention rather than derision and mockery.

BoBotC – Yes, a few days ago I posted an article about the Democrats’ plans to remove Trump by a coup in the event of him winning the election, which could precipitate a civil war. You might well have seen it.

However some American commentators, Bill Still for one, are reminding folk of the 14th Amendment to the Constitution made shortly after the Civil War ended in 1865. It was designed specifically to prevent a repetition. The question is, will Trump deploy it in the present circumstances?

    FedUp2,

Most of my American friends think the bBc is the model of journalistic probity, shining like a diamond in a goat’s a**.

I’ve provided them with numerous examples of the bias in al beeb which they do not want to hear. I usually get castigated for watching too much FOX News – even though there’s no FOX News here.

A Third Nobel Peace Prize nomination for Donald Trump may be in the offing. This might follow from the normalisation of interactions, and the establishment of full diplomatic relationships, between Israel and Bahrain, with the direct support of The President’s team

…….and perhaps even a fourth, as he and his team have been instrumental in the normalisation of relationships between Morocco and Israel.

I bet all of this just grinds the BBC’s collective T!T$ – primarily because so many of these awards involve Muslim-majority countries – you know, the ones that the Democrats and the BBC wailed endlessly that he was violating with his ‘racist’ travel vetoes… which were simply an extension of Mr Obama’s plans anyway.

Oh, and ‘tradition’ just about dictates that other leaders involved in peace initiatives, despite their history (like Yasser Arafat and others with trerrorist backgrounds), are also nominated for such such awards – sooo, what also might send the Beeboids in general through the roof, is that Benjamin Netanyahu, Israeli Prime Minister, might also get nominated, given his multiple involvements in these events.

I’d love to witness their apoplexy if these things came to pass, no matter whether the prizes are awarded or not (I can’t see the ‘woke’ Nobel Committee standing for anything of that sort – deserving or otherwise).

5/7 Yet it has been made clear to us in the current talks that there is no guarantee of listing us [as a 3rd country]. I am afraid it has also been said to us explicitly in these talks that if we are not listed we will not be able to move food to Northern Ireland.

6/7 The EU’s position is that listing is needed for Great Britain only, not Northern Ireland. So if GB were not listed, it would be automatically illegal for NI to import food products from GB.

    Nothing on the bBC?
    Time to ditch the WA.

Can any one who does numbers explain the 3300? Covid infections against a few deaths related to covid reported today –

Also – is there a regional – age – hospital related breakdown of these numbers because to me – national figures are next to useless apart from indicating an overall up or down

So loon who owns theatres is opening a few in London and giving free seats To NHS staff- well that should push the London R rate up nicely ….

Do you notice that private citizens who were once judges have been given a free pass in criticising the government plan to push through the trade negotiations .

Separating the courts and parliament used to be one of those constitutional law shibboleths all first year law students had to recite . Doesn’t seems to apply now 9th the judges express the shared views of the MSM ….

Lewis Hamilton at the Tuscany Grand Prix wore a shirt saying “Arrest the Cops Who Killed Breona Taylor”. This seems to be a new development by BLM and their multi-millionaire sports celebrities like Naomi Osaka – where they intervene on a specific police case and get the global media to spread their BLM revolution /anti-police /kangaroo court / civil disorder & lynching type message.

I add that the BBC have been promoting BLM through Naomi Osaka (winner of the US Open Grand Slam), which went straight as a top story on their BBC news channel (NewsRound).

So the BBC have a news item displayed prominently on their News Homepage:
Israeli minister resigns over plans for second lockdown” …

… and I think to myself why does the BBC think this is newsworthy for a British audience?

Now I know the BBC are anti-Semitic as well as anti-Israel so I think to myself the BBC are probably pushing an anti-Israel or anti-Jew narrative.

However, as I just don’t have the time to look at the article in any detail, I just printed it off as a pdf file and saved it and might look at it later if I ever get the time.

However, my first thought was that it was odd for the BBC to be headlining this. I mean throughout the world ministers are resigning so why the crap should the BBC be bringing this to my attention?
