It may be tick-box telly but I love Dr. Maggie Aderin-Pocock. Who can be miserable, even with a local lockdown, while listening to Dr Maggie talk science. She ought to be mainlined 24/7 into the veins of these complaining students at UK Unis.

If I had a proper telly and a Licence, that I would watch for sure.

I’ve nothing personal against those who get put into a job cos they tick a box, as you’d take a big job if you were offered one.
And secondly some who were hopeless at the beginning do grow into it.
eg 5 Live’s Dotun is OK now, but not a patch on what Rhod Sharpe used to be .
.. Sharpe himself has like a lot has become a tedious Trump hating nutter.

No TV license for us so we don’t watch any live TV and I’ve not watched anything catchup for nearly six months, but I’ve recently started watching Midsomer Murders repeats again on ITV hub.
The adverts, jeez, talk about blacks and Asians everywhere ????
Unbelievable what has changed in that time and such offerings as the Uber Eats ad shows, I believe, not one white male in 30 seconds ????
They know we’re not stupid right ????

We know their game, in fact the whole country and Parliament know their wokeness, its so blatant.
What’s Parliament doing about it ?

An interesting thing that I have noticed is the willingness on the part of the BBC to be imprecise when considering Covid-19. In addition, they accidentally or incompetently or deliberately obfuscate. There is a world of difference between coronaviruses in general and Covid-19. The common cold is a coronavirus. Covid-19 is much worse than the common cold although if you have other severe health weaknesses or problems, the common cold can kill you. It actually did that a couple of centuries back to some unfortunate souls.

Now the BBC have this on the BBC web-site: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-54500673. The researchers researched the SARS-2 virus. Now, to the best of my knowledge, that is different from Covid-19. Not just in the 17 year gap since ‘Bird ‘flu’ ‘ but on the ‘coronavirus tree’ it is a different branch or is on the same branch but is a very different twig and leaf. If I have got that wrong, hopefully some of the medical folk on here will correct me.

Yes, SARS-2 was a coronavirus, just like Chicken ‘flu’ and Mexican swine ‘flu’. Its origin or source was the same as Covid-19 and SARS-1, ie. China. However, I find this lack of clarity very interesting and ever so slightly suspicious.

The BBC would do well to remember ‘Careless talk costs lives.’.

The Beeb says ‘ Student anger over Covid ‘junk’ food isolation’. Apparently ‘A student isolating in Nottingham was given bread, jam and an apple for breakfast’. I bet it was strawberry jam instead of raspberry or damson.
Disgraceful. Where on earth was the obligatory Pot Noodle, three slices of last nights cold pizza washed down with a couple of cans of Red Bull ready for an afternoons texting/ social media updating annoyingly interrupted by some ‘worky’ lecture type stuff .
We live in a world of wanting something for nothing or wanting something better and all I can do is moan about my apparent misfortune. Where is the enterprise and self drive of these young people.
I mean when I was at College(not Uni I admit) I would dream of jam sandwiches and an apple (easy to please you see). Unless I’m mistaken isn’t there a bit of a crisis going on at the moment. Live with it and deal with it. I’m sure a couple of jam sandwiches won’t affect your life too much.
But if it does or someone tells or convinces you it does don’t forget we can always refer to this in 20 years time and you can blame whatever misfortune/catastrophe has befallen you on said diet of sandwiches. Whereupon hefty compensation for emotional distress will be applied for. Mr Robertson or guilty jam maker will be pilloried, a few marches and protests rather than work can be organised and the person who buttered the bread will be accused of racism, blah blah blah.

Plaid Cymru’s equalities spokeswoman, Leanne Wood, said a military camp was a “perverse” place for people who may have witnessed “the horrors of conflict”.

It looks like Leanne wants them put up in 4 Star hotels ?
An own goal by Plaid Cymru.

What is Boris ‘Churchill’ , The Rt Hon Oliver Dowden CBE MP and the ‘Conservative’ Cabinet doing in defending our heritage and culture? Its the the management of the National Maritime Museum that need “reviewing”.
Are there any Tory voters and supporters with balls here ?

Today’s Countryfile was about harvest, so actually had some real farmers on, but Climate Change doom was shoved in at least 3 times

Item #1 : Adam in the wheat field
“With Climate Change the old staples are getting harder to grow”
.. Really ? Why do they keep having bumper crops ?
OK this year wasn’t great , but the pattern i never constant
Paul Homewood says the evidence i that after the wet winter many farmers chose other crops to plant instead of wheat that largely accounts for lower harvest.
    =================

Now the other presenter also a cc bigot
“Here we are in Monmouthshire where with the last 10 years Climate Change it’s now possible to grow grapevines, even reds”
    …blah blah

“but due to this year’s late frost the farmer lost half his crop”
Well maybe it’ actually it’s not the Climate that makes Britain difficult for grape growing but the unpredictability of the weather
    =======

Item on strawberry fam using it’s lakes to guard against drought

Presenter : “she has reduced the farms carbon footprint by installing solar panels on the roof”

Thing was it was evident all the workers were East Europeans
Twitter : ” She’s reduced the farms carbon footprint by flying people in from all over the world to pick the fruit.”/sarc

“all those mobile homes for the local staff ?”

    =========================

Then we had an expert who implied that with Changing climate we need to go back to ancient crops

……. only thing was it next became apparent that one big reason for lower crops was new eco laws
.Oil Seed Rape : apparently now neonics are banned farmers can’t get decent yield cos of bug infestation.
Thus we are importing Rape from Australia and Ukraine where they’re not banned
So how is bees doing in Oz ?

“We have a robust and healthy bee population that we export all over the world AND we have used neonics for the past 30 years.
    Difference? No varroa mite”
ie they claim the Varroa mite is why countries suffer bee decline not neonics

Anyone catch Talk Radio’s Kevin O’Sullivan’s big rant on Friday against people who talk about the Great Reset.
First he asked people to call in and then he abused them and made a big point of putting all their messages in the bin.

“There is no such thing as the Great Reset, the idea that Bill Gates and all have organised Covid so they can reset capitalism , it’s a mad Conspiracy Theory”

    What’s that ?
Seems to me he is picking up an idea and portraying it at the extreme end
Sure some people who talk The Great Reset do add on bits about Gates or even 5G” but portraying that as the main idea is a straw man.

The great Reset to me is about big people who want to re-engineer capitalism to their own agenda part of which is to get rid of fossil fuel focus and force more green gimmicks, that is not a Conspiracy Theory
people like the World Economic Forum and Prince Charles/William are on public record as talking about the Great Reset Plan and that they and other greens want exploit the Covid situation to make the change NOW.
To say that they actually planned Covid first is another step.
When people theorise “Hey there was this Meeting-205 last Autumn about planning for a great pandemic, it’s strange that we have one now, That doesn’t meet it’s wrong to ask the question, was it just a coincidence ? Odds on it was, but asking the question is not wrong.
Bottomline 2+2=4 thinking is OK … but 2+2=^ certainty is Conspiracy Theory land
So using the label Conspiracy Theorist against 2+2=4 thinker is a SMEAR LABEL.

Stew, the big thing is that you learn from life. What happens in the world operates on various levels. We are all ‘in the moment’, what can be seen and heard is known to us. Yes, some is rubbish other stuff is not. Other stuff is underground, as you know as a bit of a gardener or orchadeer! The stuff underground, will eventually out.

An example from Christianity and the Bible. Much has been made over centuries but especially in the last three centuries of a few verses in the Book of Revelation refering to the ‘Mark of the Beast’. Years ago, many would have said how is that possible, to prevent people buying and selling. Now in 21st century Pandemmy World we know how that could be achieved. On the latest Thread I think someone may have posted about the cashless society.

OK Someone was able to show that Gates once gave the Telegraph $3.5m to “raise awareness in the UK around global health security”
as well as paying other EU media
.. but if Gates really had the Telegraph in his pocket then someone would be able to how me more that jut this one off $3.5m in 2017 ..it’s a bit chickenfeed.

Spot on Stew, it is good to read someone who can recognise the difference between bad ideas and conspiracy theories. I just read an article in Breitbart about Jacinda Ardern. The article was fine but the swathe of looney responses in the comments by people who think that the Christchurch massacre was faked is really disturbing.
To anybody who thinks that a massacre like that could or would faked in NZ let me say No! No! No! This country is too small secrets are amazingly hard to keep. The population is small. Even three degrees of separation would be an exaggeration. Yes, it is a very PC country no doubt about it, but the fact remains it could not have been staged. It is like those looneys who believe that 9/11 was set up by the CIA. If they were that clever, that efficient, that powerful, they wouldn’t needed to have done it in the first place.
By the way, I cannot stand Ardern. She stands for everything I am opposed to but there is no way in the world she would be involved in faking that. I have just been to the polling booth and voted. I did not vote for her. It looks like she is going to win big though but that will be because she kept covid out of the country and the people don’t want it in.

    Not BBC

Back in April ish – there was a sometime heated debate about whether the NHS / government were killing off the elderly in carehomes and elsewhere through failures to test for Covid .

Well the CQC has announced an urgent investigation into the use of DNA tickets issued for the Elderly – in care homes by medical professionals AKA hero sainted £doctors £ ……

I’m prejudiced about DNRs – otherwise known as

    Do Not Resusitate Forms

Because – as a former carer – I was manipulated into agreeing one by a GP- when it had been signed I noticed even less care and attention from the medical mafia – even when I rescinded it …….this included the ‘end of life ‘Paliative care shysters …

So beware if you even sign off on a DNR – I saw it as a convenient NHS death warrant – and still do.

That was all before the NHS had a ready made excuse to kill or neglect as they do now …
