I mentioned this on the previous thread . There is a short joint statement published on Twitter saying it’s not worth carrying on because of differences – and leaving it to the PM and kraut in charge of the EU on Saturday – things looking good for a ‘no deal ‘ ….

It may be time to panic buy Brie …

Senora O’Blene and I have tried it and it knocks one’s socks off – fabulous!

There’s also another great hard Cheddar style cheese called ‘Ashmore’, made in Canterbury, and it is just fantastic too! Their ‘Kentish Blue’ is well worth a pop as well!

(Is that enough for a cheese thread Fed? Please say if I’m off topic…)!

Fed, I haven’t followed what this is about, but I’m sure it’s just a misunderstanding – the downside of these threads is we miss the visual cues we normally rely on to socialise properly. You manage a site which is for like-minded people who are in perpetual puzzlement at modern society and who enjoy some light-hearted banter – a group of people who don’t want to play the victim or be easily offended. Although I’ve only recently joined, I can honestly say it’s helped to keep me sane.

I always enjoy reading your posts, so it would be a real, real shame if you did as you said and reduced your contributions (I think many of your contributions get to the very core of why we need this site); particularly so as I think the other chap is saying that a subtle joke has just been misinterpreted.

Its pretty evident that most of the MPs in Parliament and their civil servants tried by hook and by crook to prevent and delay the democratic will of the people of Great Britain.
IMHO we should ‘drain the swamp’ and replace them all.

If the EU was in a good place they would have told us to go a long time ago.

      Sovereignty and Fish.
Its not just about fish, its about the employment and the services involved in the ancillary industries eg,. shipbuilding, chandlery and many more.
Sovereignty. The right to be our own nation, a seafaring nation in control of our borders with a substantial Royal Navy to protect our trade and supplies from across the world .

I can’t get over it. It’s why I came to this site. Something changed in this country after the referendum – it became obvious the a lot of people didn’t really believe in democracy but were just using an illusion of it to have their own way. And in my opinion, beeb were all over it. I saw their broadcasts that day, and knew there was a class of entitled people who were never going to let this go without a fight. The beeb was at the fore, with its daily comedy panel barrage of insults at those who ‘didn’t know what they were voting for’.
Maybe it will be good or not, but we were asked, and an answer was given.

And Stew, did you see where one of the Beeb’s fave callers, Joe Anderson, Mayor of Liverpool is in a bit of bother about a bit of unfinished building business? I suppose they’ll do a Vicky Price with him now, getting his views on everything and everyone!

      • Doublethinker says:

Agree. It seems the power brokers of the republicans have deserted the President. Even Barr ,who was supposed to be a supporter of the constitution, has been saying that there was no election fraud. From over here it seems that you would have to deliberately look away not to see that the election was massively rigged. So why are previous supporters of the President joining the swamp? Many have probably been swamp double agents all along, other may have been ‘got at’ by any manner of means.
The swamp is present in most countries and one of the greatest services that the President has performed for the cause of democracy is that his election and delivered promises have forced the international swamp dwellers out of the shadows into the light. They found that they had to expose themselves in order to stop him. They couldn’t do it by their usual covert tactics he was too much his own man for them to manipulate him. But their power is such that I’m not sure that they care.
I hope , perhaps in vein, that people right across the West who thought that they lived in democracies now realise that they don’t but are ruled by an unelected unaccountable oligarchy who manipulate them like puppets. This oligarchy controls almost all western institutions, the UN, the World Bank, the security and police services , the media , Google , Amazon, Facebook etc etc. We live in a post democratic world and I don’t see how democracy can ever reassert itself.

MASSIVE QUEUES AT PORTS . DELAYS IN IMPORTING AND EXPORTING FOOD AND MEDICINES . KENT TURNED INTO ONE GIANT LORRY PARK . BREXIT MAKES US DOOMED .

Nah , I could tell them how to get round that .For free .
    Here’s a few pointers .

    1) Sack all senior civil servants ( grade 5 and above ) .
    2) Sack all Gramscians regardless of rank .
    3) Employ patriotic people only as public servants.
    4) Pay is based on (a) the relevant health of the industry they administer, and (b) the economy of the nation.

Regarding the flow of freight traffic between the UK and EU , send the civil servants , BBC , Guardianistas , Mirror paper and the remainers to the RDCs ( Regional Distribution Centres) where they receive all their ( diverse) goods from 100x more than what flows through Dover .
One supermarket chain receives more lorries in one RDC than all the British ports in a day , unloads them , processes the goods and distributes our food and other essentials WITHOUT ONE DRIVER EVEN LOOKING AT , NEVER MIND TALKING TO an employee or agent of that supermarket chain . All done through computerisation.
We are still talking about various weights , mixed loads and different temperatures of the goods on one and all of the lorries delivering .
Paperwork isn’t needed . Computers and Visual Display Units are required . Not in the lorries, although they have them and will be used more in the future.
    But before you have the computers, the VDUs , the barriers , the traffic lights the touch screens;
You need the civil servants to have the will , and the patriotism to want to succeed .

Yup, poor old Dover, the place of embarkation for expectant holiday-makers, and Folkestone is the only tunnel around!

The place is just too small for all this, and as a Kent chap, our poll tax pays for Operation Stack, immigrants piling up on the beaches and a whole lot more bureaucracy in the KCC, police etc!

I once had to go to Tilbury Docks on a building scheme a few years ago. There was huge security at the gate, hardly anyone in sight except for Le Mans forklift drivers.

I got lost at some turning, and was immediately stopped by their police, given a huge bollocking and sent on my way!

Now that is a place to have imports/exports from, no hassle, just business sense!

From the Beeb’s own website: –

      ………………………………………………………….

So what changes on 1 January 2021?
Deal or no deal, the way people live and work will be different.

People planning to move between the UK and EU to live, work, or retire will no longer be automatically allowed to do so

The UK will apply a points-based immigration system to EU citizens
Travel rules are changing, so check your passport is still valid, that you have health insurance and the right driving documents

The UK will no longer make big annual payments towards the EU’s budget

Arrivals from the UK will stand in a different queue at passport control in EU countries

Businesses trading with the EU will face a lot more paperwork

      …………………………………………

…So what’s not to like then Beeb? The last bit about paperwork isn’t the case, as several posts above have explained very well!

    For the bbc:

Snow was a British physician who is considered one of the founders of epidemiology for his work identifying the source of a cholera outbreak in 1854.

John Snow was born into a labourer’s family on 15 March 1813 in York and at 14 was apprenticed to a surgeon. In 1836, he moved to London to start his formal medical education. He became a member of the Royal College of Surgeons in 1838, graduated from the University of London in 1844 and was admitted to the Royal College of Physicians in 1850.

At the time, it was assumed that cholera was airborne. However, Snow did not accept this ‘miasma’ (bad air) theory, arguing that in fact entered the body through the mouth. He published his ideas in an essay ‘On the Mode of Communication of Cholera’ in 1849. A few years later, Snow was able to prove his theory in dramatic circumstances. In August 1854, a cholera outbreak occurred in Soho. After careful investigation, including plotting cases of cholera on a map of the area, Snow was able to identify a water pump in Broad (now Broadwick) Street as the source of the disease. He had the handle of the pump removed, and cases of cholera immediately began to diminish. However, Snow’s ‘germ’ theory of disease was not widely accepted until the 1860s.

Snow was also a pioneer in the field of anaesthetics. By testing the effects of controlled doses of ether and chloroform on animals and on humans, he made those drugs safer and more effective. In April 1853, he was responsible for giving chloroform to Queen Victoria at the birth of her son Leopold, and performed the same task in April 1857 when her daughter Beatrice was born.

Snow died of a stroke on 16 June 1858.

Darcy, it wasn’t until the end of the first decade of the 20th century that houses in a large part of Enfield, north London, were connected to the sewers and had supplies of fresh water on tap to every household. When that work was done the death rate was substantially reduced and public health improved considerably.

But as your last line demonstrates vividly, death comes to all living things eventually.

I re read darcy3 s comments of 2.12.20 at 15.43 1853 21.01 and 21.11 …. which I believe were aimed at offending me – I think Darcy 3 might have ‘memory problems ‘ from time to time .
He is another reason for less comments by me on this side and remaining as a moderator – although as we have discussed elsewhere the site might end on 17.12.20….

I learnt from that experience that it is best to focus on issues relating directly to the BBC rather than general subjects …

I’ve also learnt that sometimes it’s not worth trying to discuss with some posters .

Fed, “I think Darcy 3 might have ‘memory problems ‘ from time to time .” Occasioned by a good lunch? Maybe.

I agree that we should try primarily on here to aim our fire at the BBC for its failings and I remind myself of that from time to time. Inevitably though, the BBC is linked to Brexit, its metro-Socialist attitudes then demand political responses here and then there’s HMG not exactly covering itself in glory at present which reflects in the BBC coverage and can demand or suggest comment. Sometimes it is unavoidable.

Until an apology is forthcoming from Darcy I shall just ignore his posts.

                Here is one

On Friday a bbc news anchor was ‘interviewing ‘ the discredited ‘fact checker ‘. She mentioned that the UK fishing industry was very small but was a barrier to a EU UK trade agreement .
Neither BBC employee mentioned that one of the reasons the fishing industry is small is because the EU destroyed it . Bias .

Micah Richards on the red button footy Saturday afternoon called all the millwall fans who booed the kneeling ‘racists . Micah Richards is a coloured boy with a big mouth and not much brain .
The Scottish girl ‘anchor ‘ agreed – mr Richards has a big chip and chooses not to question the value of the pitiful kneeling or the adverse effect it is having on coloured types – who seem to live their lives as victims .

ti, can’t see the EU surviving Covid-19. Poland are famously only in it for the money. When the handouts stop, they may well be off out of it, possibly after the EU has interfered too far in Poland’s domestic politics.

Italy is said to be a basket case waiting to happen. Brussels has put together a rescue package for Covid hit member States – cannot remember size of it offhand – but Italy or Greece could probably drain it on their own, let alone together.

The Greeks don’t love the Germans. The Poles don’t love the Germans. The French don’t love the Germans. Then there is that neat little sub-group centred on Hungary, there’s another problem for the shady bunch who have inherited the founding fathers’ estate and wish to create a European State.

I could be wrong of course and it may all stick together …. at the eleventh hour.

This, she argues, is the sort of totalitarian measure one has hitherto only seen in regimes such as Nazi Germany or the Soviet Union — certainly not in a country famed for the old adage: “an Englishman’s home is his castle”.

Woke Culture Wars: From cancel culture to the toppling of statues, Ms. Widdecombe is deeply concerned about the radical woke iconoclasts who seek to undermine British identity by attacking its history and culture. She does not understand why the Government, police and other institutions are so placid and reluctant to stand up and defend Britain.”

Just for a moment let’s suppose the government are telling the truth about this new vaccine.

The numbers I am using are all rough guesses but I think they are not far off and you will get the idea of what I’m getting at soon enough.

I think, if you look at the various graphs, the vast number of deaths occur in the very old and those who are most vulnerable.
Let’s say there are about 8 million although I suspect it may be a bit lower.
These will be targeted for the vaccine and I would guess most of them would be vaccinated by the end of February.

If you gave this vaccine to 8 million schoolchildren the number of deaths would remain virtually the same so you should accept that giving this vaccine to the groups where the vast majority of deaths occur must give the biggest number of lives saved.

If the vaccines start in a few days time it means that by the end of December people will be completing the second dose and, if it’s 95% effective in protecting from covid, it will start to stop many deaths.

The 400-600 daily death total would drop to 20-40. Any more than that would be added to the flu and pneumonia death totals. (To make the government look good)

By Easter almost all people at any risk would have been vaccinated.

The milder weather would contribute to a big drop in cases.

If the vaccination protects from covid then I suspect less cases will be passed on unless the vaccine lets covid remain infectious.

About 40 million under 50’s are largely unaffected or only mildly affected and show only a tiny number of the deaths so they are a low priority for the vaccination although they may be spreaders.

There’s also a growing number of those who have immunity from covid, either natural immunity or antibodies from an earlier covid infection.

The government will tell us all how good they are and have saved thousands of deaths.

With all 3 vaccines on the go covid should be wiped out by about May.

Of course, by next October, the virus may mutate and we start over again.

TOADY Watch #1 – mention of risk at last but

Maybe senior Beeboids do read the posts on this site? At last on the TOADY Prog there was mention of the R-word (not the R-rate – which I gather is at a four month low but is now apparently completely unimportant) – Risk.

It wasn’t a no-holds barred discussion with medical people pointing out that vaccinations are risky for some, even if they are only 0.000001% of the UK population. But they did suggest a Covid-19 vaccine may not be suitable for some people. The BBC presenter presiding, think it was the Bee Lady, asked about whether a vaccine may innoculate a person against the virus but may not stop them spreading it.

No questions asked about mutation. No virologist available to contribute and explain about the fact that ‘flu’ vaccines never eradicate influenza because of the ways in which the ‘flu’ virus may mutate. Instead the BBC, cast doubts about the effectiveness of vaccination, possibly in support of their now inbuilt Socialist ideal of having constant restrictions.

Of course, the BBC wouldn’t be wanting to stoke up the ‘anti-vaxxers’, would they, to get another ban or new laws in place? Would they?

12:03 pm R4 Moneybox talking about how the DWP is stealing money from certain people’s salaries
and then being incompetent in sorting in out.
    – You notice that money is missing from your salary
    and contact your employer
    – Your employer says they have had an instruction from DWP to collect money each month in order to repay Universal Credit loans
    – You say I’ve been working all the time I haven’t claimed any UC.
    – You phone the DWP number you’ve been given, and they never answer it.
    – You get another DWP number , they answer and ask for the bank account number the money was paid into
.. You say you never got any money
.. They reply that since you are unable to confirm the details data privacy means they can’t continue.
    – You work out a fraudster has claimed in your name
.. If you are lucky the fraudster has not used a false address and you get a DWP letter before the money has been taken from your salary.
    – Universal Credit was supposed to reduce fraud, when this thing started to happen, DWP worked out they needed to have face to face meetings to check people’s ID, and that worked.
However this year due to Covid they stopped them , so the ID fraudsters moved back in.
    – 24 June DWP introduced a special Stolen Identities team. However in July a guy was still having problems as the DWP was still docking his salary for the 6th month
    – This was all explained by an Stephen Timms (Labour MP) @stephenCTimms
who added that UC payment were sill 10% to fraudsters even not including this particular type.

Bottomline the DWP like anyone else claiming back payments off you must provide proof to you of delivery of the goods.
.. and you can probably bill them for your time.

A complaint on behalf of my wife regarding black bbc presenters taking the piss out of Chinese (that’s allowed, apparently)

    has just been responded to

    BBC Racism

We note your tiresome obsession with black people .What I will not accept is your continual obsession with desperately trying to find evidence of racism against blacks whilst allowing them to be as racist as they like.

You obviously could not find any white presenters for your programme on BBC2 “All over the place – Asia” from the 85% of white people in this country so had to have two black presenters from the small 15% of the population, as bloody usual.

Yet when you interview a Thai pesron explaining something in his native laguage you decide to put a “comic” chinese accented translation whilst your two “poor oppressed blacks who are perennial victims of racism in your twisted minds” stand and snigger along

Racism against “yellows” is allowed is it ?

So, just for balance, I fully expect you do to a comic “African accent” in any translation from a programme in one of their warn torn sh@thole please

    Dear Mrs Chin,

Thank you for contacting us in relation to ‘All Over the Place: Asia’ on 31 October.

Firstly, we apologise for the delay in replying. We know our correspondents appreciate a quick response and we are very sorry you’ve had to wait on this occasion.

We raised your concerns with the producers of the programme

    They explained:

“On All Over The Place, we use a wide range of presenters from different backgrounds. Ed Petrie is our main presenter and throughout the 5 items in each show, he is usually joined by one other presenter. However in some cases (as is the case in this item being referred to) we use a duo who know one another, like Sam & Mark, Johnny and Inel etc.

Regarding the voiceover, it wasn’t the presenters doing the voiceover, it was our voiceover artist. Throughout the series he did a range of accents (American, Scottish, English regions etc) when translating for our contributors. This was done so the voiceovers were in keeping with the overall tone of the show, which is light hearted and fun.

The different accents used throughout were certainly not meant to cause offence.”

We hope this allays your concerns.

This is where feedback such as yours is very much valued by the BBC as it tells us what users think we’re getting right, and of course what they think we’re getting wrong.

Please be assured that your concerns were sent to senior staff at the BBC via our daily report.

Thanks again for taking the time to get in touch.

Prog is a bit of a circus
She’s zooming from country to country in the Amazon like a billionaire tourist
and has now visited 2 indigenous tribes.
Someone should document tribes, but it’s kind of real bad to turn up with a foreign TV crew, cos we carry bugs they have no resistance to.
However if tribes have had close contact with city people then outsiders can be more helpful, than local land invaders etc.

And here she says the Brazilian government agency FUNAI is not really trustworthy, so the tribe won’t allow them to see ancient pottery, but will allow foreigners to.

Now she has made a big show of bringing a pottery expert to the tribe
which will be important for them to claim ownership rights of the land.
She says she so wants the expert to decide in favour.
Now luckily he did judge them to be 1000-1500 years old and therefore pre colonial.
But it would have been real tough for him if he’d decided the other way.

She never made it clear that most of the archaeology she was talking about was medieval rather than truly ancient like Sphinx or Stonehenge.

Vlad -There have been other times in the USA when
somebody believes that there has been terrible cover ups
to even a political assassinations. Even today there are old
folk that are scared to talk about what they know about the
CONSPIRACY to kill JFK and afterwards the top journalist and
famous TV personality Dorothy Killgallen who was about to
      spill the beans .
This vote fraud in the USA is nothing new. How do you think
that JFK beat Nixon in 1960 ? The trouble for JFK was that his
brother as attorney general went after the “folks” who won
the presidency for JFK. Which was very ill advised. It cost his
      brother his life.

I used to think that the Beebs sports page was OK, but never an organisation to miss stamping its own views on the public we see today on the football page a headline ‘Fans boo teams taking a knee at Millwall’. Well yes, apparently they did, but then follows a complete diatribe with no opportunity missed.
Dion Dublin says ‘They don’t agree with taking the knee, which means they are racist’. I can’t wait for the next episode of Home under the Hammer to see Dion down as well.
Micah Richards says ‘ I am sick to death of talking about this situation’. Well don’t, that’s half the problem.
Millwall players say ‘We wish to make clear that taking the knee, for us, is in no way representative of any agreement with political messaging or ideology. It is purely about tackling discrimination, as has been the case throughout’. Perhaps they didn’t write this themselves, but whoever did must be pretty thick.
The club are hastily preparing an anti discrimination strategy. I guess Eastenders style this may involve a visit from ‘the boys’ to your address to ‘have a word’
The Kick It Out chair comments and then some mention of George Floyd.
Comments from Millwall fans, obviously not mentioned in the piece, suggest they are just fed up with it and feel they should be free to express their views.

Oh the score it was 1-0 to Derby.

The English are so racist that Dion Dublin ended up worth 16 million quid before being given a slot on TV to make even more!

Absolutely outrageous of the BBC commentators, and Dion Dublin, to say that anyone vocally objecting to taking the knee is racist and should be identified and banned. The mealy-mouthed F.A., and BBC Match of the Day people, have been on their priggish high-horses for months pronouncing what all supporters must think and how they should respond. They have slithered the real meaning (and conveniently ignored the genesis) of the knee-taking gesture into now being a stand against social injustice in general. Arrant nonsense. We all know how the gesture originated, what it signifies and how it was taken up with alacrity by the BLM movement. To suggest that anyone who objects to this is a bigot is absurd.
I’m reminded of this image from earlier in the season and have waited in vain for a professional player to have the moral integrity to do something similar.

I take my hat off to all the Millwall supporters who refused to accept this enforced self denigrating crap enforced by the media. This is all about gaining unearned power and has nothing to do with right or wrong. This country is one of the most tolerant nations on Earth so BBC you can F off with your divisionalism.

If the football league are sucked in to this BLM pantomime then it’s up to level headed supporters to vote by starving them of ticket fees…this needs to become a national campaign to restore sanity.

New Zealand Covid has been ticking along at around 6 new cases each day
Almost all what they call non-community cos they are either people entering the border or border staff. Only a couple of times have had they had a run into the community, but that’s been contained.
Like the Pakistan cricket team arrived and 6 of them had it.
But this is all with unsustainable draconian measure of all new arrivals are put in quarantine hotels.
Even if they are hiding some cases they can’t be hiding a lot.

There must be other countries where they don’t have Christmas, but have another big celebration holiday.
If one was in October or November we should be able to see the effect on case count of travelling home/holiday/return to work.

It’s hardly surprising that working class football supporters find this perpetual kneeling to the revolting Black Lives Matter Marxists to be absolutely repellent. So do I.

Of course these well heeled, parasitic race baiters, Lineker and co, giving vent to their spleen courtesy of the biggest and most dangerous race baiting organisation in the country don’t like our response.
    Tough shit!

The BBC have spent months stirring the pot after the death of George Floyd. They never missed a trick, constantly goading an already volatile and (let’s be honest) thick group of angry young blacks with their summer season of British racism. BBc2 and BBc4 were full of slavery, Stephen Lawrence, random people I’d never heard of killed decades ago in the US. Anyone would think they were trying to cause trouble…

The sooner we get shot of them the better.

I don’t think the BBC are unaware of the rage their biased reporting on BLM causes to the overwhelming majority of people in this Country.

They simply view such people as both beneath contempt and unimportant and are thus determined not only to disregard their views but to actively suppress them.

To the BBC, the future is to be dictated by the Elites using the left-wing and the one-world Globalists and the rest of us will just have to be silenced and suck it up.

They use this same technique against anything that contravenes their mantra including Brexit, Trump and the Conservatives.

If we had a Government that was prepared to take them on and bring about an even-handed balance from the BBC that reflects the views of the majority in this Country things might improve but I’m afraid it seems that the current Government does not have the balls or stomach to do it.

Brilliant post, sums it all up so well. And, to be honest the rich globalist/left collusion is a weird turn of events from the past 5-10 years imo.

At any given moment there is an orthodoxy, a body of ideas which it is assumed that all right-thinking people will accept without question. It is not exactly forbidden to say this, that or the other, but it is ‘not done’ to say it, just as in mid-Victorian times it was ‘not done’ to mention trousers in the presence of a lady. Anyone who challenges the prevailing orthodoxy finds himself silenced with surprising effectiveness. A genuinely unfashionable opinion is almost never given a fair hearing, either in the popular press or in the highbrow periodicals.

I was going to say that I don’t expect to be preached at over Xmas. But actually the BBC seem to forget that at least nominally this is a Christian country. But I have just read on the Daily Mail website (so it must be true) that the Vicar of Dibley at Xmas will have Geraldine taking the knee and her sermon will be on Black Lives Matter. I had thought it was supposed to be a comedy. I will not be watching.
