Midweek Thread 16th December 2020

Deal or No Deal Part – Whatever – thankfully for us the BBC continues to self harm . This time they’ve taken on a boxer who doesn’t want to be a ‘sports personality ‘ . Naturally the BBC ignores him .Meanwhile Joe Biden is the President Elect of the USA . Therefore the BBC narrative will change to ‘how long can the dementing old boy last? “ . Let’s see…

Two days ago I made the mistake of watching the lying BBC’s World News for about 5 minutes, which is about as much as I can bear. One of the items was the mass kidnapping of hundreds of schoolchildren in Nigeria.

Who could commit such a heinous act, I wondered? What evil, vile, degenerate group could stoop so low?

Luckily the BBC were there to answer my questions. Sort of.
It was, we were told, ‘gunmen’ and ‘bandits’.

Ooh, I see, now I understand.

Today David Wood delves deeper than the massively funded BBC and declares that ‘Boko Haram Kidnaps 333 Nigerian Schoolboys to “Promote Islam”’.

Interestingly he concludes that islam is haemorrhaging apostates and this is one response: stop the children getting Western education.
Expect more fun and games in coming years.

For Christ sake, I know some of the public have the brains of a 5 year old, but most have common sense and realise that the more people who mix together in a space the size of a small semi then germs and bacteria is going to spread ! We don’t need to be continually told whether its 2 or 3 or 4 households can get together, and the idiot talking heads keep saying there are ‘mixed messages’, well if the public don’t take personal responsibility for their actions, then its on them if granny dies in February – just don’t blame the government for your own failings.

    Just a crazy thought.
When all the over 80’s are immunised (about 3.5 million of them), the death-graph will be almost flat.

Would we have gone into lockdown with a flat death-graph? I think not.

So, let’s go back to normal when the over 80’s are immunised and get the NHS back to saving us from all the other diseases.

      UK 67 million population, that’s 1000 blocks of 67K
      100 blocks is 6.7 million , So 3.5 million is 50 blocks

They’ve just vaccinated 2 blocks in a week
so 25 weeks to get that 3.5 million vaccinated.

      • Dover Sentry says:

Therefore, roughly about 10 years at the current rate of progress to vaccinate the entire population?

Therefore, your 25 weeks to vaccinate the over 80’s should see us free of masks etc. ?

Well, if the footballers want to make a stand and carry on kneeling like idiots, then the fans SHOULD stay away, after all they’ve watched it on tv for the past 9 months, and its only the Clubs who will feel the pinch financially eventually.

As I barely watch the BBC, I’ve found some good progs elsewhere, one being Sky Arts Portrait /Landscape artist of the year. If anyone else watches this I’d be interested to hear thoughts on this year’s final. Its was almost a BLM final – 3 finalists – 2 non white, and the prize commissioned sitter was Carlos Acosta (an acclaimed ballet dancer). Well, all that aside, the winner was not white and gay, natch, and I know that art is subjective and in the eye of the beholder, but the portrait was just scribble with some defining features, of course it was claimed as ‘genius’ by those in the know, but I thought hang on, this is like the Emperors New Clothes. I’ve sat through 10 weeks of seeing some terrific artists get cast aside for this pencil scribble, and he gets 10 grand for it. Maybe common sense will reign again next year.

    “PM’s lax Christmas bubbles”
‘Have yourself a merry LITTLE Christmas’ – that’s the latest Boris festive spin dutifully taken up as a headline by The Express, Telegraph and the giveaway advertising sheet the Metro. The Times has no time for such amusing niceties, peremptorily withdrawing grandma’s invite: ‘Elderly told to keep away from family at Christmas’. Sarc – as the teenagers would text.
Thankfully the Sun still has the wit and the nous to ridicule our political leaders’ latest daft edicts: ‘Cold Turkey. Another Sage stuffing! Madcap advice encourages us to eat Xmas dinner outside with gran’
The Guardian, no friend of Johnson, is nevertheless far too earnest to joke about such serious matters: ‘PM in stark warning: rein in Christmas celebrations’ – one considers the possible Rudolf the Reindeer allusion purely coincidental.
Take a deep breath here – that is only if you happen to be standing alone outside, fully masked-up and at least half-a-mile downwind from the elderly or otherwise vulnerable – The Daily Mirror has gone absolutely covid bonkers this morning:
‘The PM’s lax Christmas bubbles will lead to more deaths, say his own advisors. But he won’t change the law and wants YOU to take blame for killer 3rd wave. He’s such a COWARD’
Analysing Labour-leaning Daily Mirror headlines these days is rightfully the job of a psychiatrist but this one takes the Christmas shortbread biscuit. By definition a coward is someone who is afraid of something. The Mirror is pathologically afraid of the Chinese Flu and wishes the public to likewise swallow The Fear. If the public do something silly like sneeze the paper hat off their emphysemic one-hundred-and-nine-year-old sprout and Paxo stuffing munching grandad, then frankly, it IS their own fault. They can’t really blame The First Lord of the Treasury Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson, can they? Even if they hate the Tories?
Following the mention of sprouts, now take a step back from all this nonsense and join me as we reflect and crack a smile at the phrase “PM’s lax Christmas bubbles” – One conjures an image of Princess Carrie Nut Nuts to the rescue with a generous squirt of her own sweet homeopathic aromatheraputic concoction.
Oddly enough the Guardian comes to Johnson’s rescue here reprinting his statement: ‘We don’t want to ban Christmas: I think that would be frankly inhuman and against the instincts of many people’ – take that Daily Mirror!
The Sun reflects on how the BBC is likely set to bring more depressing drama to our screens: ‘What “jolly” story has EastEnders come up with this Christmas?’
Let’s be thankful for small mercies: ‘Meghan’s new podcast. Michael Deacon [Telegraph] listens in’ – so we don’t have to. The Daily Star rips into Their Graces, the Right-On Sussexes, with no mercy: ‘Dear Spotify, when can the rest of us have £30m for talking crap as well?’
Stop the world, I want to get off (as Leonard Rossiter’s Rigsby once exclaimed in Rising Damp when he first noticed Alan wearing an earring) The Times this morning carries a good news Brexit story. I know, take a deep breath – following the advice as mentioned above: ‘Pet owners get a treat as EU relaxes travel curbs’ – ah, our dear friends the German Shepherds and French Poodles.
I’ve warned you before how government is going to explain why your petrol car is to be confiscated. Forget the global warming, it’s going to be all about Ella: ‘Call for Ella’s law as dirty air ruled a cause of death’ (Guardian)

Christmas was always going to trouble – ban it – criticism – let it go ahead – criticism . Will the tradition things carry on ? Like the demented queues in Argos ? Or that strange Christmas Eve panic because shops might be closed for 1 day ( excluding diverse ones of course ).

It can only be a matter of time before the Far Left BBC kills off Christmas – to be replaced with winterval or the festival of some third world ‘religion ‘ which should be alien to blighty but sadly is not any more ….
