Weekend Thread 2 October 2021

The price of gas is going up. The powers that be estimate that an average household on a flexible tarif will pay roughly £150 more a year – more or less the cost of the TV Licence . With a bit of luck people Will chose to pay gas bills rather than the disgusting TV licence .

Watching a program on Preppers the other day at least two of them were preparing for the day the US Dollar collapses.

Knowing many of these people are a few sandwiches short of a picnic I thought I’d look this new threat up on Google and it turns out it is a very real possibility.

The US dollar is in massive decline anyway, but the crazed Biden Democrat destruction of the USA through borrowing trillions of dollars is only going to guarantee that destruction.

Imagine the consequences of the Dollar becoming worthless, all the trillions of debt obligations China owns becoming worthless. It is so bad that there have been proposals in Russia to make the ownership of US dollar debt illegal.

    https://www.bloomberg.com/opinion/articles/2021-01-25/the-dollar-s-crash-is-only-just-beginning

    https://www.investopedia.com/articles/forex-currencies/091416/what-would-it-take-us-dollar-collapse.asp

    https://markets.businessinsider.com/news/stocks/us-dollar-crash-high-chance-double-dip-recession-roach-2020-9

All it would take is for a country like China to dump it’s dollar debt on the market and the dollar would cease to exist as a viable currency.

    https://www.globaltimes.cn/page/202103/1217082.shtml

This is how the Chinese view the current situation.

The Socialists have only been in power in the US for a year (less than) and they are well on course for the utter destruction of that once great nation which has given itself over to stupidity, relying on the TV to tell them what to do and too lazy to disbelieve it – that is going to cost them dear because America is never going to recover from the lunacy of Socialism.

Personally i wouldnt allow any physical change until over 21 – and the state should never support or finance it. But thats me.

Should never be done on the NHS here .

Firstly I don’t think it should be easy for anyone to change sex and that it should be a matter of absolute last resort.

Seems that Levine doesn’t believe in it either:

“Paul asked: “Do you believe that minors are capable of making such a life-changing decision as changing one’s sex?”

Levine replied that transgender medicine “is a very complex and nuanced field with robust research and standards of care” and said she would welcome discussing the issues with him.

In the past, Levine has asserted that hormone therapy and puberty-blocking drugs can be valuable medical tools in sparing some transgender youth from mental distress and possible suicide risk.”

Faced with a dead child or one distressed to the point of clinical diagnosis Levine state it is better to intervene with puberty blocking drugs.

Where is the evidence of Levine stating she wants to allow young people to change sex or to make it easier?
The answer is that she wants the reverse, and what Levine is stating here is what has been going on in British clinics for decades and you didn’t have a problem with that back then so why so full of angst now?

Levine is not proposing the ridiculous steps the Tavistock is undertaking and therefore it isn’t right she is labelled wrongly as doing so.

As for it not being carried out on the NHS alas for you its been done to death in the courts and the verdict is a consistent one that the NHS does have to fund it. If you want to change it then you will have to go right back to the original founding charter and intriniscally alter it.

Good luck finding a political party willing to do that one!

I may have mentioned before, but my younger sister was a tom boy when she was little, starting in infancy she wanted to be a boy. My parents were pretty ‘progressive’ for the time (late 70s-late 80s), and she was allowed to have her hair cut short and wear jeans and t-shirts (mostly my left offs, from what I recall). She used to run around with me and my mates, and then her own crowd of boys, riding her bike, running around in the woods, and doing ‘boy’ things – to be honest, prepuberty you wouldn’t have noticed she WAS a girl.

At the time, given the choice, there is no question (as she’s said herself) she WOULD have taken any medication going to ‘become’ a boy.

Then, she hit 15 and BANG, she discovered boys, make up, skirts, long hair, perfume, dating… Married (to a man) by 24, three children of her own, still happily married (and extremely feminine and happy to be a woman) 20 odd years later.

We’ve all discussed it with her, and in her mind there is NO question, kids shouldn’t be allowed to meddle with their genders physically, or chemically, until they’re at least 21. She should know, because as she says, given the choice at anything upto probably 15, she would have gladly agreed to anything going that could ‘change her gender’… and, as she says “what a mess she’d be in now!”

While the BBC continues to pretend that Biden is sane and in control, there is speculation that the Dems are getting ready to ditch the Imbecile, one way or the other, and replace him with Heels-up-Harris. (For those who don’t know, that’s how she got her leg-over – sorry, leg-up – in politics.)

To that effect they’re keeping her well under wraps and away from anything controversial, such as the southern border, Afghanistan, economic policy – in fact pretty much anything. She’s invisible, therefore unable to commit too many gaffes.

In other words, the same strategy that got the Imbecile elected from his basement a few months ago.

My dad loved it too, but he loved (and still does) ANYTHING SciFi, a rarity on British TV back in the day, completely non-existent now of course, especially if the BBC have anything to do with it.

We used to laugh about how crappy the effects were at school. A friend of mine who is a complete SciFi nerd bought the entire set on DVD quite a few years ago now, and persuaded me to watch some of them – I vaguely recall people in silver overalls running around a milk processing plant (complete with road signs and double yellow lines, and I’m sure I could hear a milk float just out of shot) which was supposed to be some ‘weapons factory’ on an alien planet, or something?

He claimed if you could look past the dismal, low budget effects of the era, the characters and plot were worth the effort. These days the effects would probably be stunning, but don’t expect any plot, or characterisation to speak of, and the captain would need to be a progressive, black woman, and martial arts expert, of course.

Not a whiff of wind: all silent until I heard one turbine struggling to ‘fire up’. Not knowing about these things, I put 2+2 together and concluded that the units must have a sensor and if the wind reaches some level, insufficient to turn the turbines, the turbines are turned mechanically until the wind takes over. I now learn from a unreliable source that this is a fact(?). Surely that means that if the fickle wind remains at a fairly low level (enough to just trigger the mechanical start-up process), it creates a continual massive drain on the Grid? Continual triggering? Anybody know? More energy in than out………..

The story goes according to one lorry driver who is White British the rank bad management of the haulage firms driven by unrealistic vampire supermarkets wanting services below cost were the problems.

They were paying pretty much the minimum wage or zero hours contracts and drivers simply got out of the industry. They brought in first Polish drivers who wouldn’t work for the low wages, and then they basically worked their way around Eastern Europe until the get to the Roumanians which was ended just before Brexit.

By this time those in the industry had left it, and not many wanted to join with such appalling pay and conditions, and so Europe and many other countries are facing a massive shortage of drivers.

It won’t change until the Supermarkets are forced to start paying proper wages which they are loathe to do and at times it seems they would rather drive their businesses into the ground than pay people more.

One of the things on my bucket list was a visit to Istanbul – mostly because I wanted to see what was left of old Constantinople, and tour the museums. Apparently, a lot of these cultural attractions, so popular over the last century, are suffering under the zealotry of Erdogan. Istanbul, in fact, Turkey in general, doesn’t look as attractive to visit as it did a decade, or more ago, nor Greece, come to that. Tragic.

Talking about which we went to Oxford for the day today, and I took my son to visit our favourite museums (not being particularly interested in shopping, like the girls). That’s the Natural History and Pitt-Rivers BTW.

They’re clearly under new curation, and a few things have changed since we were there a few years ago (pre-Covid).

In the Nat History Museum, they’ve installed a big neon sign (if you know the place, you’ll understand just how inappropriate that alone is!) saying “Meat the Future”, pointing to the first floor where they’ve installed a, frankly rather cheap and nasty looking, exhibition about why we should all go vegan.

However, the biggest shock was the Pitt-Rivers, their world famous collection of shrunken heads has apparently gone! The cabinet they used to be in has been covered in opaque plastic, printed with what can only be described as a diatribe about why anyone going there to see the (world famous) shrunken heads is a deviant freak who should be ashamed of wanting to gawk at human remains belonging to other cultures, and for thinking of other cultures (that used to shrink human heads) as ‘primitive’, ‘savage’, or ‘barbaric’ etc… It really is bizarre and looks as if someone has a personal campaign going on to get rid of them.

There is also a big notice about ‘return’ of items to various countries, a process which started a few years back with the Benin Bronzes and seems to be accelerating, quite a number of things I recall do seem to be missing.

Then, they’ve opened up one of the back rooms for an exhibit which was apparently about ‘human sexuality and gender’, signposted with another neon sign (in pink and turquoise). We actually skipped that one, so can’t tell you any more about it.

Anyone familiar with this brilliant and unique museum will know the top gallery housed the weapons and armour collection (of particular interest to me). It’s a whilst since I’ve last been, but they seem to have removed a lot (over 50%) of the weapons and armour, including many of the most unusual and unique pieces, some of which seem to be literally stacked almost out of sight in unlit cabinets high enough up, you could only possibly look in them with a ladder and a flashlight.

The space gained appears to be transitioning (haha) into a greatly enlarged collection of cosmetics and ethnic jewelry from all over the world, which I guess interests some, but not really my cup of tea.

I don’t know what else to say, but like the British Library, which I made a very unsatisfactory visit to a couple of years back (and it’s a major, and costly, expedition for me, where it is now) I’m deeply disturbed about where all this is headed.

Yet after the customary ‘Say her name’ and night-time vigils for Sabina Nessa who was beaten to death with an iron bar, her story was abruptly dropped and is nowhere to be seen. Because an Albanian immigrant did it.

It’s hypocrisy of the most extreme kind and I haven’t seen it’s like since George Floyd was buried in a gold coffin.

The Irish state and Irish Travellers

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irish_Travellers

There was no specific state focus on Travellers prior to the creation of an independent Irish state in 1922. Issues with traditionally travelling groups came under loosely defined vagrancy laws, from when Ireland was part of the United Kingdom. In 1959 the 1959–63 government of Ireland established a “Commission on Itinerancy” in response to calls to deal with the “itinerant problem”. This was made up of senior representatives of the Irish state, judges, Gardaí, religious organisations and numerous farming lobby groups such as Macra na Feirme. The commission had no Traveller representatives, and while attempts were made to consult Travellers, these were “bizarre” unannounced visits which resulted in little input into the report.[43][44]

The commission had the following terms of reference:[45]

    (1) to enquire into the problem arising from the presence in the country of itinerants in considerable numbers;
    (2) to examine the economic, educational, health and social problems inherent in their way of life;
    (3) to consider what steps might be taken—

    (a) to provide opportunities for a better way of life for itinerants,
    (b) to promote their absorption into the general community,
    (c) pending such absorption, to reduce to a minimum the disadvantages to themselves and to the community resulting from their itinerant habits and
    (d) to improve the position generally; and

    (4) to make recommendations.

The commission’s 1963 report defined “itinerant” as “a person who had no fixed place of abode and habitually wandered from place to place, but excluding travelling show-people and travelling entertainers”.[46] It recommended assimilation of Travellers by settling them in fixed dwellings with the ultimate aim being that of essentially ending Traveller identity,[43] viewing the Netherlands’ approach to its travelling minority as a model.[47] This assimilation was to be achieved by the effective criminalisation of nomadism, and the report paved the way for an increasing state emphasis on criminal laws and penalties for trespass.[44]

At the time, about 60% of Irish Travellers lived in barrel-roofed horse-drawn wagons, with almost 40% still using tents in summer (fewer in winter).[48][49]

The Travelling People Review Body (1981–83) advocated integration rather than assimilation,[49] with provision for serviced halting sites. The Body’s membership included Travellers.[50] The Task Force on the Travelling Community (1993–95) moved to an intercultural paradigm.[49][51]

On 30 May 2019 the Oireachtas (Irish parliament) established a joint committee “on Key Issues affecting the Traveller Community”.[52]

In May 2021, the Ombudsman for Children, Dr. Niall Muldoon, published a report that was highly critical of the standards of accommodation provided for Travellers, describing some accommodation issues as “deplorable.”[53]

    “Joseph Rountree Foundation says”
    Framing trickery
To me NEWS is when something has happened and you actually report it, but BBC news spends half its time speculating about the future and using FRAMING that fits in with BBC agenda pushing.
Thus this mornings lead news item is that Tory Party conference is about to start.
Today’s lines ran like : “With the Tories under pressure due to the fuel crisis and empty shelves the Tory Party conference is about to start”
but that was preceded by a framing local opening item.
For that Radio Lincs opened the bulletin with “Local Tory MP says the driver shortage is not due to Brexit, cos other EU countries have the driver shortages too.. Now the Tory Party conference is about to start.”
… no clip was played and the statement is obvious and vacuous, but it ticks a box to say the station has quoted a local TORY MP , when 9 times out of 10 they quote Labour.

Radio Humberside’s opening framing was rather stronger
“58% of a select cherry picked category* will be affected by the £20 cut to Universal Credit say the Joseph Rountree Foundation”

    * “of working-families with children at school in the East Riding”
FFS why when reporting a Tory Conference are they framing it with a report from a Labour Party supporting charity ?
When they did stories before the Labour Party conference the same stations always had quotes/words from Labour sources.

      • StewGreen says:

by 10am news “half a billion pound fund” was in the middle of the item

        The cherry pick was actually
“stats are SUGGESTING that 58% of working-age families who have KIDS in Hull are gonna be impacted by the planned cuts to Universal Credit …
similar numbers for North Lincs and NE LIncs”
        (they omitted Easy Yorkshire then)
“suggesting that they will be AMONGST THE WORST HIT in the country .. this research released just as the Tory Party conference starts ..”

        ..That’s PR language

They continue “The foundation has accused The Prime Minister of ‘abandoning millions to hunger and hardship with his eyes wide open’
Note that is the exact same phrase as in the JRF PR tweet
It’s weird how giving most people MORE money than they got one year ago is “abandoning millions to hunger and hardship”

“The govt has always insisted the £20 pw uplift was temporary * Eleven hundred religious leaders have also urged Boris to abandon the cut
        Here’s the Bishop of Doncaster”

We then got a 20 second sermon from her

        At 10am there’d been a change
“The govt has always insisted the £20 pw uplift was temporary and it recently announced a household support fund worth half a billion pounds “
no pause “Rachel Gregory is from the groups Christians Against poverty
clip “This is an incredibly worrying time for over 6 million …. people will be pushed into ABSOLUTE DESTITUTION”

        ======================

on the question of why reports don’t mention the £500 fund, the JRF boss just referred me to Sept 30th tweet
“The temporary measure announced today will not fix the fundamental inadequacy of our social security system”
that’s JRF brushing it aside, saying £500m of taxpayer cost is inconsequential.

The BBC has from the start been the government mouthpiece promoting and defending lockdowns and was in fact instrumental in pushing the government into the first lockdown and other restrictions such as shutting schools and mask wearing.
It is also the defender of the faith…anyone who dares to raise their head above the parapet to question lockdown or who demands the right not to be vaccinated is hunted down by the BBC and vilified and demonised as ‘dangerous’ or ‘Far-Right’.

However…as time goes on it becomes clear that many, many people from all walks of life don’t want to take the vaccines….from footballers to care workers and NHS staff as well as some BBC celebrities. Suddenly you don’t hear as much of the ‘Far-Right’ demonisation or the perjorative label ‘anti-vaxers’ pinned to them.

‘The anti-vax movement targeting German children’
‘A German anti-lockdown, anti-vaccine movement with links to the far right has recruited hundreds of children into a private online group, reports Jessica Bateman.’

The BBC either ignores, downplays or denounces and pillories anti-lockdown demonstrations [whilst celebrating BLM riots] and sets out to undermine the credibility of any who report fairly on these issues….you can see how the BBC set out to attack and smear GBNews even before it had broadcast a word…any commentator is smeared…..such as Darren Grimes, and social media is always portrayed as a dangerous spreader of fake news and disinformation that is a threat to democracy and so must be regulated tightly…lol…the biggest threat to democracy is a BBC that tries to undermine any Tory government [or US President], that sides with anyone who is attacking ‘Britain’ and which sides with the extremists and terrorists of XR, BLM and the IRA….not to mention the Islamists whom its journalists characterise as the new Ghandis, Churchills and Mandelas….whilst calling Israel a war-criminal, terrorist state.

Looks like the same problem exists in Australia where ‘government’ media try to suppress citizen journalists and the social media….
