Anyone else on here think that the society has gone a bit bonkers.

    When I was a lad…

A letter arrived in a white envelope with a stamp on it.

A pack of food told me what was inside and how much it weighed and cost.

Meat was cut to size and wrapped in paper for me.

Liquids came mostly in glass bottles or tin cans, some of which were returnable and all of which could be used again in manufacture.

TV and Radio programs tried to entertain or inform me.

Humans were either one of two genders.

    Now…

A letter will probably tell me how the paper abides by some sort of sustainability code.

A pack of food will tell me whether it is likely to make me fat or not.

Meat comes in a shrink-wrap plastic shroud.

Liquids come mostly in plastic containers where the container probably costs more than the product.

TV and radio programs are mostly either propaganda or to provide jobs for the elite.

Humans are mostly an alien species of crazies.

I know which society I would rather be in!

Must be older than you as ‘when I was a lad’ people came in one of two sexes, gender was reserved for nouns.

        🙂

When I was at school I was taught that sex is where people of either gender come from. Oh, and animals, birds and insects, too unless hermaphrodites.

Yesterday’s local ITV news had picked up a story from October 20th Daily Express
(A publication which is heavily linked to green-subsidy baron Dale Vince)
“23 Football stadiums at risk of flooding in 30 years – is your teams one of them? ”
FFS look at the way the waves are supposed to reach the Tower Bridge high walking deck

Being Green it’s not an actual NEWS story
      ie something that is NEW
      It’s recycled from June 20th 2020
Sports will be majorly impacted by climate change in next 3 decades:
      – a quarter of English league football grounds at risk from flooding every season
One in three British Open golf courses will be damaged by rising sea levels.

      The analysis seems incredibly naive
“Ah the stadium sits near sea level so it will flood
.. and the clubs are so stupid they will not make any drainage plans
And some of these clubs have ongoing plans to move location (a property investment thing rather than global warming), but we will ignore all that”

In fact many football stadiums sit on land that is RECLAIMED from the sea or floodplains
eg the list includes Scunthorpe United’s ground
… Sure that land flooded in 1951 cos its in the floodplain in the tidal part of the Trent
However after that they topped up the banks
And these days there are ongoing projects to improve resilience
      Flood lakes are being dug.

Oh and the idea that Scunthorpe will have a league football club in the future is naive
Have you seen the league table ?

    1pm news a strange headline
“If we had counted Covid cases last week, they would have been very high, the higehst ever
but now in the last few days cases have fallen”

Today’s stats aren’t out but I expect 150 deaths as deaths have been slowly rising.
Each death seems to reflect vulnerable person not being protected properly.
eg as Covis leaks into a hospital ward.

They have published a 10 point plan for impartiality under Tim Davie. (Apologies if already discussed)
I’m not hopeful but would be delighted if they did become impartial/fair. I liked the bbc and still love its excellent orchestras etc.
But the article on the website just goes on about the Diana interview – no mention of the massive anti-Brexit bias. And it sort of excuses nasty left-wing comedy (the like of which would be rated as hate-speech or encouraging hate crimes if done by a non-leftie ‘comedian’).
    So not much hope.

Few graphs are as well known as Michael Mann’s hockey stick graph – showing, essentially, there was no warming in the history of the globe right up until the blade of the stick forms, shooting up global temperature in the last century.

Of course, that graph is more of an illusion than a finding, as has been demonstrated repeatedly by a number of scholars, including Ross McKitrick and Stephen McIntyre, who today are joining Mark and hundreds of Club members aboard the Mark Steyn Cruise through the glacier-ridden Alaskan inside passage.

BBC WEB-SITE Watch #1 – what the BBC don’t tell you and hopefully will be ruled ‘offside’ in future

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-59074026

You would have to be earning quite a lot of money (and consuming a lot – more than is good for you – of the most expensive foreign red wines after Wednesday’s Budget), travelling long distances by air on several holidays a year, in order to be hit by a tax bill that is £3000 larger than the year before. In fact you would have to be working for the BBC as a radio or TV presenter or similar. I note the authors of the report do not quantify how many millions will be worse off here: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-59076532#comments

This sort of partial, anti-Conservative Government politicing by the BBC will hopefully be ruled off side by the Serota Review in future. Households may have to expend more on salt for that.

In the usual way of things, the BBC would be applauding a high spending Chancellor, the end of that awful Labour austerity, so maybe their change of attitude now is an early response to the Serota Report. Or is it more likely that the BBC highly paid presenters and executives have been badly hit by the National Insurance increases for the NHS together with the extra Air Passenger Duty they will have to pay for long distance holidays?

Until I retired I had been an average kind of manual worker from 1955 until 2001 and quite honestly I had never noticed a Budget either Labour or Conservative make any discernible difference to my wage packet or my family wellbeing. However, apart from the Family Allowance (8 bob a week I think for the first child) I never received or attempted to receive state assistance which then would have been construed as cadging but now seems to be viewed as an entitlement no matter what. Never forget. The BBC and the MSM will always give air time to the cadger.
The Marxist State is the cadger not us!

The only thing he took from the State was his pension – which he had paid for across 50 years – but only lived a few years after retiring .

Britain has turned into an ugly welfare / rights dependent State – and the forthcoming change in the economy is gonna bring great hardship – which will be a shock to many ….

…. But one upside is that if people are struggling to get by -they don’t give too much thought to green crap – this happened in the 1970s ….

In tonight’s show we had this weird thing
It was like the London bubbleworld reporters thought they had a great idea “There’s this place called Hornsea where there is massive coastal erosion, lets go there and get recordings of locals saying >This sea level rise is Global Warming in action< "

Yet when they arrived there the locals all said
“You guys don’t understand the difference between SEA LEVEL RISE and NATURAL COASTAL EROSIION do you ?
WE all did this at school
this coastal erosion here is a natural thing that’s been going on for thousands of years,.
The waves here are strong and the cliffs are weak , so they get eroded and then the soil gets washed down to Skegness and dropped there, so Skegness gets further and further from the sea”

So the having started filming the item didn’t continue the claim that erosion is caused by global warming.

‘You are the problem’: AT&T tells white staff they are racist, asks them to confess their ‘white privilege’ and to promote ‘Defund the Police as part of re-education program by CEO John Stankey

AT&T provides its employees with access to a learning resource called Listen Understand Act
The internal forum provided recommendations for books and articles to read and films to watch
One senior employee told journalist Christopher Rufo that staff at AT&T were pressured to engage with the portal
Managers, the source said, had participation with some of the recommended material included in their annual review
One of the recommended articles was from the Chicago Tribune, entitled: ‘White America, if you want to know who’s responsible for racism, look in the mirror’
The portal recommends a ’21-Day Racial Equity Habit Challenge’, during which time participants are encouraged to interact with anti-racism activists and question their own actions
