Midweek 8 June 2022

A rarity on the 7th – a conservative MP on live TV challenging a BBC reporter about the campaign the BBC has been running to oust the democratically elected Prime Minister of the UK . The BBC will put him on the target list too . Unbiased Right ?

Some practical info for dealing wit the NHS
Yesterday we had to help a pensioner out
#1 Although people complain they can’t get doctors appointments
I find the GP’s email is working quite well
I sent an email 9am and got a reply at 11am
Now that didn’t answer my question , it just asked for the patients full name ..strange cos I already given her address and the name was already in the email chain
Unfortunately there was no email reply that day
but the doctor did phone me this morning first thing.

#2 We did find that driving a bedridden patient to A & E was more efficient than using an ambulance. Someone had called an ambulance but the service made it clear they couldn’t give wait times and weren’t interested in talking unless we’d been waiting at least 6 hours. They also were non committal about recommending bringing in the patient ourselves .. just saying it was a possibility if it was safe.
As it was we put the patient in a van and got there in 15 mins and she waited 45 mins in a not super busy department . Then we left there was a queue of ambulances waiting to come in. So it seems in this case we got her treatment 5 hours earlier than using an ambulance.

Stew – sounds like a job well done . After PMQs the health sec introduced a report about NHS leadership – I was thinking of having a read but can’t be asked

Anyway – I put what he said through a translater and I said – get even better at ‘covering failures ‘ be better at avoiding blame – don’t get caught defrauding the taxpayer – and of course – any failure ultimately rest in number 10 ….

Meanwhile nurses leave the NHS – but I’d put my money on them becoming ‘private ‘ staff bought in – paid more to do less – to cover the. Shortage of NHS nurses….or actually – do both jobs …£ …

Well done, Stew. Am guessing but I think NHS is deliberately working against HMG in order to get der Starmer in to No.10 Downing Street. Think that has been the case since December 2019, aided and abetted by unthinking Conservative voters plus Chinese viruses.

Morning news today, the bbc have found another Nazarari munchengladback. Apparently an archeologist, visiting a site in Iraq, (Could be Iran), filled his pockets with trinkets lying around, thought it was ok as he’d not been advised not to (Absolutely true), got arrested and jailed. This morning, for an interminable length of time, we had his son-in-law and daughter saying that it’s not fair and is all the UK governments’ fault. I could not give a toss. There are more important things than this and I pray to the higher power of my choice that the bbc don’t intend to serve up this horseshit every time they have a slow day.

On a lighter note, I received an email from a colleague which had her name, followed by she/her. I asked about this and was proudly told that these were “personal pronouns.” I told her that I admired her courage. She beamed and obviously expected more woke praise. I explained that our office is populated by a significant population who consider that it is acceptable to hang homosexuals from cranes. They might be having a quiet word. I’ll be interested to see how long the additions stay up for. I will deny the conversation ever took place, of course. I told her that too.

I’ve been listening to a podcast of John Anderson with Prof John Gray, in which the learned philosopher , aged 75 , was saying how much he admired and supported Lady T in the 80’s and how he still thinks that she was right about most things. So far so good .
Then the conversation moved on and it became apparent that he didn’t support Trump. However, as the conversation moved again on he said he was very worried about China, the rapid spread of critical race theory, the curtailment of free speech, three of Trump’s main issues , all of which he did something about.
So why doesn’t this guy like Trump? Well he said Trump was a narcissist, self centred , uncouth. This sounds remarkably like Douglas Murray who didn’t support Trump even though he seems to agree with most of Trump’s policies.
Perhaps this type of philosophical thinking man knows what is wrong with the modern world, knows what needs to be fixed but simply can’t stomach the blood, guts and muck involved when it comes down to the battle nor can they stomach the men of action eg Trump , who have to lead the fight.
These guys would rather lose the War on the West than actually support those who lead the fight back , let alone get involved in the fighting themselves.
We need their intellectual power and their ideas , but we can do without their squeamishness when it comes down to the action required to win the culture war.

“Oh FullFact said something about Steyn” .. Ans FullFact are flawed.

“You’ve become a centre for Climate Skepticism” ..oh that’s bad that type of opinion should be banned ..NOT

“Dewberry had a guest that said sea levels are not really rising, that is not factually true” it kinda is.
Sure sea levels do slowly rise on average as you come out of an Ice Age, however they are not really rising that much as most climate activists make out.
In many areas it’s hardly noticeable.
Land they scream that is threatened is often land that was drained by man hundreds of years ago.

I checked ..the Guardian is the source : In an article back in 2018 they said
Blair Cottrell is a far-right extremist with a string of criminal convictions who has previously expressed admiration for Adolf Hitler and claimed to have manipulated women “using violence and terror”. He is also a vocal supporter of the British far-right activist Tommy Robinson.
Last year Cottrell and two other men were convicted of *inciting contempt and ridicule* of Muslims after they made a video in which they beheaded a dummy with a toy sword outside a city council office.”
Is there even such a law in the UK ?

“None of this, however, was made clear to viewers. Instead his interviewer, the former politician Adam Giles, gave Cottrell free rein to call for the reclamation of a “traditional Australian identity” by restricting immigration to people who are “culturally similar” to white Australians”

BBC called him a man “with a criminal past”

It’s not surprising that Sue Perkins finds plenty of humour in her family tree, even in the poignant stories of an orphaned grandfather and a great-grandfather interned as an enemy alien during the First World War. But when she delves into the German branch of her family, who were living in eastern Europe through the Second World War, she uncovers a harrowing tale of refugees fleeing back and forth across borders between Nazi and Soviet control. It’s a reminder for Sue that history is full of real people who “always pay the price for the decisions that the big guys make.”

he media is awash with stories about the fact that lawyer Christine Lee, who has links with many politicians and has donated almost £600,000 to the office of Labour MP Barry Gardiner, has been revealed as an operative of the Chinese state’s “United Front Work Department”. (The donations to Gardiner became public two years ago; there is no suggestion he has broken any law or rule.)

The “United Front” organisation exists to strengthen and spread Chinese political influence in other countries.

Contrary to some claims in the media, Lee seems to be more like a lobbyist than a spy. (Of course China very likely does have actual spies in the UK – just as the UK very likely does in China.)

Some of the coverage emphasises Lee’s connections to the Labour Party, downplaying her strong connections to Conservative politicians. There is also an attempt to target the left by linking Barry Gardiner to Jeremy Corbyn. This is not totally unjust, since Gardiner was promoted by Corbyn and bizarrely seems to be regarded by many “Corbynites” as a hero. However, he is fundamentally a skilfully opportunistic right-winger, who served loyally as a minister under Tony Blair.

What issues does the Lee/Gardiner case raise for the labour movement?

Many Labour politicians – some union leaders too – display a remarkable lack of basic democratic, let alone labour-movement or socialist principles in whom they support and ally with. Gardiner in particular does appear to have generally pursued a pro-Beijing political line – for instance describing state suppression of the democracy movement in Hong Kong as “the escalation of violence between protestors in Hong Kong and ordinary people in Hong Kong” (on the Today programme, December 2019, cited in the New Statesman).

But he has been far more active supporting the far-right regime of Narendra Modi in India. This has not been mentioned in any of the recent coverage I have seen.

An anti-lockdown protester has been sentenced after a BBC journalist was chased and called a traitor near Downing Street.
Joseph Olswang, 39, was part of a group of people who shouted abuse at Newsnight political editor Nicholas Watt on 14 June 2021.
Olswang was given a 20-week prison sentence, suspended for 18 months.
Westminster Magistrates’ Court heard he has bipolar disorder and was in the midst of a manic episode at the time.

At a previous hearing Olswang, of Richmond-upon-Thames, pleaded guilty to using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour with intent to cause harassment to Mr Watt.
He was found guilty of the same offence against PC Agnes Matvejeva. He had shouted at the Metropolitan Police officer for 35 minutes and called her a “Brownshirt Nazi” and “evil scum”.ENDS

But why, BBC? Why would people want to read more of your childlike reporting?

I believe you’ll find that the 1m sea level rise that’s part of the EA institutional catechism is based on a UKMO model prediction that’s been widely discredited – not that the EA would volunteer it – which they don’t.

The EA are playing the same game with their TE2100 plan for the Thames Estuary – which is contrived jobs for their mates running to billions… They’ve withheld the technical basis for their plans for nearly a decade…. NOT to be trusted.

Please ignore post above, the cause of the Nigeria church massacre has been identified by the Irish president as…. climate change.

    — President Higgins said that such an attack was made in a place of worship “is a source of particular condemnation, as is any attempt to scapegoat pastoral peoples who are among the foremost victims of the consequences of climate change”.

“The neglect of food security issues in Africa, for so long has brought us to a point of crisis that is now having internal and regional effects based on struggles, ways of life themselves,” President Higgins said.

“The solidarity of us all, as peoples of the world, is owed to all those impacted not only by this horrible event, but in the struggle by the most vulnerable, on whom the consequences of climate change have been inflicted.”

Ukraine round-up: Dire warnings over grain blockage and fuel ‘gold rush’
    https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-61736182

‘But it cannot be shipped now from Ukraine’s Black Sea ports because of Russia’s naval blockade.’

Just by chance I discovered that ports have all been mined by Ukraine and it would take months to de-mine them anyway. So even if the Russians allowed ships in, they couldn’t get in.

Now I know neither side trusts the other for good reason. But the BBC did not even tell me about the mines. What else don’t they tell me ?.

I have a feeling both Ukraine and Russia want the world to starve. Ukraine to force direct action against Russia by the West and Russia to destabilize the economies of the West and – God forbid – force mass migration from Africa to Europe.

From what I’ve read, cargo ships could be inspected for weapons before entry and escorted by Western warships to get the grain. But there is no talk of that whatsoever. It seems nobody wants it.

I really don’t trust either side in this nor do I trust what I am being told by the BBC.

    • JohnC says:

The solution to getting the grain out and stopping the world from starving is to get it from Russia through the Crimea.

What an interesting dilemma : let millions starve or let Russia profit from the spoils of war.

No wonder that option is not being talked about. Time to tighten your belts Africa and begin the walk up to Europe where you will be fed and housed for free. You are about to go under the bus.

Richard Kemp wrote about this in the Telegraph at the end of May.

He suggests a Nato taskforce or naval coalition including the UK and US based out of the Romanian port of Constanta to clear the mines laid by both sides and protect merchant vessels. He says Putin has little to gain by attacking merchant ships and although Russia would kick up a fuss about Nato warships being in close quarters the next step of striking food supplies and initiating a direct conflict would be too steep to take. Indeed, sending large quantities of lethal weapons for Ukraine to attack Russian troops is much more provocative than escorting merchant ships on humanitarian missions.

      Risky but achievable?

Muslims at it again in Stratford cinema this time,

“‘We want this film taken down immediately’: More protests erupt outside Vue cinema in Stratford Westfield from furious Muslims angry at ‘blasphemous’ Islamic film being screened despite Showcase and Cineworld both pulling movie”

Meanwhile, Vue is defiantly continuing to show the film, saying it ‘takes seriously the responsibilities that come with providing a platform for a wide variety of content’ and believes in showcasing films of interest to diverse communities’.

However, Muslim demonstrators entered Westfield shopping centre in Stratford, east London on Wednesday evening – where they chanted ‘Take it down’ and demanded to speak with the cinema manager.

In the footage, a protestor is heard claiming Vue’s manager was ‘dismissive’ when he ‘spoke to him regarding the controversial film being screened at the cinema’.

“we will bombard him by going to him hourly.”

This is harrassment and needs police action

“It comes as Dame Sara Khan, an independent advisor to the Government on social cohesion and resilience, has warned that the appeasement of ‘religious mobs’ will undermine it.

She has criticised the failure of the Government and local councils to battle against the protests in recent days, adding that it is important to understand what support Cineworld received from politicians and police before it decided to cancel the screenings.

In an article for The Daily Telegraph, she wrote: ‘Over the years, leadership from local MPs, local authorities and central government in standing up and firmly defending our democratic values has unfortunately been lacking.

‘I have seen how local authorities and MPs have tried to appease religious mobs or sit on the fence in the hope that such protests will disperse and often they have in the short-term.

‘But this is a failure of leadership and in the long-term has only galvanised religious fundamentalists who now know that by engaging in such behaviour their unreasonable demands will be met.

‘It will undermine social cohesion and result in a gradual erosion of our democratic values and principles.’

She added that Cineworld had been ‘bullied and intimidated’ into the decision and described the move as a ‘dangerous, slippery slope’.”

US man charged with attempted murder of Justice Brett Kavanaugh
    https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-61735321

The BBC’s double standards for Trump and the Democrats is just ridiculous. This attempted murder was the direct result of political encouragement, but the BBC don’t get to that until the very end of the lengthy article with:

‘Senate Republicans blamed Wednesday’s attempted attack on Democratic rhetoric.

They pointed to remarks by Senator Chuck Schumer in March 2020 in which he warned Justice Kavanaugh and another Trump-nominated conservative justice “you will pay the price” and “you won’t know what hit you” if they voted to undo abortion protections.’

First, WTF has it got to do with Trump ?.

Second, it was a lot more than just Republican Senators and that one statement, but for some reason the BBC don’t want to direct us towards twitter for this one.

    They are absolutely without shame.

TOADY Watch #1 – there’s something funny about this and the BBC haven’t noticed at all!

Petrol and diesel fuel prices on forecourts. I seem to recall – my memory could be defective on this but definitely works better than those of the BBC Collective – that when the oil price hit a historic high of $150 per barrel, petrol and diesel prices were nowhere near as high as they are now. Is it purely down to supply and demand at refinery level or is someone making a colossal profit?

Fuel Duty has been cut but VAT acts as a bit of a multiplier as it is ‘charged on top’ and is also 2.5% higher than when oil hit $150pb, if I recall correctly. It cannot just be that, can it? Nick Robinson, touching to have concern from the Left Wing Socialists at the BBC for the poor car driver, normally villified by the BBC for causing Global Warming and Climate Change, talks to small road fuel retailers before 8 a.m.. Another multiplier factor is that the high diesel price affects the cost of the delivery of petrol & diesel fuel to petrol filling stations. That diesel price has widened over the normal ‘spread’ that existed by some 10 pence to fourteen pence (in the Canterbury area) although the lady from the small PFS in Devon appeared to be selling diesel cheaper than petrol. Maybe she got her prices muddled? If not, our Fed should get himself down to Devon for a re-fill. 😉

Unfortunately, Nick completely forgets to ask about that oil price v. pump price discrepancy. He also forgets again when talking to the RAC on the same subject. Time to close the BBC down and shuffle the amnesiac Aunty off into a care home.
