    Thoughtful,

It’s possible that Catherine the Great self identified as a man or maybe was of fluid gender and could shape shift between male and female depending if she/he/it needed a good dollop of toxic-ness to get through the day. Starmer and the like may have a clue, then again Im sure they have a fence to sit on.

Maybe there is something to be said about Shakespeare here. There was certainly many men in his plays who were ruthless and evil though probably not one more evil and ruthless than the Lady of the play that should not be mentioned. I wonder if Lady nut-nut has read it.

    Boris Johnson’s Guarantee
We will get Brexit done in January and unleash the potential of our whole country.
    I guarantee:

Extra funding for the NHS, with 50,000 more nurses and 50 million more GP surgery appointments a year.

20,000 more police and tougher sentencing for criminals.

An Australian-style points-based system to control immigration.

Millions more invested every week in science, schools, apprenticeships and infrastructure while controlling debt.

Reaching Net Zero by 2050 with investment in clean energy solutions and green infrastructure to reduce carbon emissions and pollution.

We will not raise the rate of income tax, VAT or National Insurance.
Thank you for supporting our majority Conservative Government so we can move our great country on instead of going backwards.

    BORIS JOHNSON
    PRIME MINISTER

Much unfinished business there, Boris. If I recall correctly, all we have got so far is the Australian points based-system to control legal immigration and continuing investment in HS2 which is the most hated, it is said, public expenditure programme in the history of the UK. If only you had cracked on a bit more, despite the Pandemic.

Is anyone else experiencing this on biased bbc forum.

This morning all was working but now, when I click on to the comments I get about 2 or 3 comments come up with light blue and no content above and below.
I leave it in case it needs time to load but it remains the same.
I’ve tried on other iPods and it’s the same.

I noticed it yesterday evening but this morning it was working ok until now.

Is it my Internet (all other internet sites working normal) or is it something at the biased bbc server end.

Ignore the experts. When I step onto the streets of my Surrey town and the sun’s shining like I’m in Praia da Luz, you can’t fool me. I know where that’s come from.

All their other tricks haven’t worked so now Europe’s trying to bake us out. For years they’ve heard us say ‘it’s alright for a holiday but I couldn’t live here’ as we traipse around Kos, and now they’re acting on it.

They know we don’t live in beachside resorts with swimming pools like they do. They know how much we suffer when it’s boiling and there’s no all-inclusive bar handing out iced cocktails.

Make no mistake, they’re laughing at us. They’ve got our good summer rain and they’re chuckling at the thought of our sunburned faces in the suffocating heat they’ve piped over.

Bloody Europeans. Is there anything that’s not their fault? I’m voting for whichever Tory promises to sort this sun out.

pug, the BBC did mention Boris and Uber on R4 during the first hour of TOADY in connection with the Panorama programme about Uber lobbying. He may not be mentioned in the TV programme. The BBC appeared desperate to smear the Conservatives as much as possible and also to try to bang another wooden stake through Bojo’s heart in case Bojo tries for a comeback.

Mayor Kahane continued the Uber arrangements, if I recall correctly, that he ‘inherited’ from Boris Johnson until some group, was it London Black Cabs created a row over Uber’s driver qualifications and was passenger safety also involved in the row? Mayor Kahane then introduced some sudden restrictions on Uber.

The BBC are now fixated on why a few Tory MP’s should be able to choose the next leader, claiming that the people should have a say.

BBC, that’s not how political parties work, no citizen ever votes for the PM, it’s always been a job for the party to sort out.

Of course we know their game, let’s have a fairer general election everybody and we might end up with Starmer!

    We see you BBC!

Corbyn was suspended from Labour Party membership in October 2020 after stating antisemitism in the party had been overstated for political reasons. The membership suspension was lifted a month later after Corbyn was issued with a formal warning by a party disciplinary panel, but the Labour leadership declined to restore the whip, denying readmission to the parliamentary party pending an apology and retraction of his comments. As of April 2022, he sits as an independent.

digg, if my memory serves me well, the Conservative Party leadership elections were made more ‘democratic’ than those of the Labour Party. Labour were then forced to modernise. Where previously the Trade Unions in general and some in particular had had a big say, from post-Miliband-on Labour have had to ask what their ordinary members think. You could join the Labour Party for £2.50 or £3.50 just to choose between Jeremy Corbyn and Jeremy Corbyn and Lisa Nandy and Jeremy Corbyn.

I work on quite a number of websites that are content driven from a database of some sort. Even the page web structure is drawn from a database table often described as CMS (Content management systems).

WordPress is an example of this.

If the web server starts to get problems requesting page structure data from the database it is unable to complete delivering the page in the users browser and will either hang or show odd effects such as we are seeing.

I am pretty confident that this site is running along those lines.

Looking at the issues I have seen myself and described by others I would definitely start with the health of the database. Many times a simple reboot of the database server fixes the issues.

      That’s my ten-penneth!

    Noticed earlier today…

“The world’s population is expected to reach eight billion on 15 November, the UN forecast Monday in a report that said India will surpass China as the most populous country on earth in 2023.”

    UN predictions include….

    – The world’s population is projected to reach 8 billion on 15 November 2022

    – Global population could grow to around 8.5 billion in 2030, 9.7 billion in 2050 and 10.4 billion in 2100.

    – Life expectancy at birth for women exceeded that for men by 5.4 years globally, with female and male life expectancies standing at 73.8 and 68.4, respectively

    – More than half of the projected increase in global population up to 2050 will be concentrated in just eight countries: the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Nigeria, Pakistan, the Philippines and the United Republic of Tanzania

    – India is projected to surpass China as the world’s most populous country during 2023.”

And the impact on ‘Global Warming’ will be……. well, never mind that, the Western world has to revert to the stone age to solve this ‘problem’. Sorry, these things are labelled ‘crises’ these days, are they not ?

Most days I went for a run at 9:30am and didn’t sweat much cos out on the road there is a breeze.
Then at another part of the day I am out of the wind where the sun is beating through glass patio days and it feels warm
Then later I am out in the orchard thinning the apples again not sweating

I have to say at the carboot on Sunday 2 oldies seemed to collapse with heat.
There were some people sitting at at tables in the sun where they was no breeze but I was OK walking around wearing a wide brimmed hat and then biking up the hill with 10Kg of largely free stuff

Just how reliable this forecast is, can be seen in stark contrast by today’s forecast from the same source. Cloudy all day with a 10% chance of precipitation. Indeed, I notice a couple of splashes earlier.

Fake News from the BBC: BBC says “8% of the population remains unvaccinated against Covid”

Unvaccinated: According to the UK Health Security Agency, almost 30% of the population has not had even one mRNA jab. 20% of the population over the age of 18 are mRNA free. The highest groups are those with least trust in authority, young Black people, 72% who are mRNA free, and those best informed, medical doctors, half dodged taking the mRNA spike protein death jab. Faced with a disaster for the NHS. Only in January did the government retreat from sacking the unvaccinated doctors. In an unprecedented letter of condemnation, the head of the Office for Statistics Regulation (OSR), Ed Humpherson, criticised the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) for providing statements “Unsupported by the data” and demanded much greater transparency on health data. The 8% is unsupported by the data, while the 30% comes from greater transparency on health data.

BBC broadcasting another taliban documentary – report from the DT

    STARTS
The Ministry of Defence has accused the BBC of putting front-line troops at risk with a new SAS “death squads” documentary.

The hour-long documentary, which will be broadcast on Tuesday, asks if any of the “hundreds of people” killed on night raids by Special Forces were in fact executions.

Panorama said the programme investigates a series of raids “where people were shot dead after they surrendered to British forces”.

It adds that it has uncovered new evidence where eyewitnesses claim that they saw “unarmed Afghans being killed in cold blood”.

However, the Ministry of Defence on Monday issued a strong rebuttal of the programme, which they said “puts our brave Armed Forces personnel at risk both in the field and reputationally”.

None of the allegations have led to prosecutions

In 2014 Operation Northmoor was established to investigate numerous allegations arising from detention-related incidents in Afghanistan during 2005-2013.

It is understood that the Royal Military Police carried out independent and extensive investigations as part of the operation which looked into the conduct of British forces during this time. It was wound down in 2019.

As of today, none of the historical allegations have led to prosecutions, but it is understood that the MoD is open to considering allegations if new evidence were to emerge.

When the operation closed some veterans questioned the RMP’s suitability to run the inquiry, and called for an independent one.

A defence source stressed that all military operations are conducted in accordance with the Law of Armed Conflict and that all allegations are investigated.

In 2020, the Government was urged to open an inquiry once more into alleged misconduct by British forces in Afghanistan after revelations about Australian troops came to light.

After a four-year inquiry, Paul Brereton, a senior judge, found evidence that some killings seen Australian SAS patrol commanders order their junior subordinates to make their “first kills” by shooting Afghan prisoners.

It concluded that up to 39 Afghans had been unlawfully killed between 2007 and 2013 by Australian special forces.

However a Defence source cited the Brereton report and said that the Australian department of defence and Chief of the Defence Force said in letters to counterparts that, “there are no British service personnel who are persons of interest or affected persons as a result of this Inquiry. The Inquiry makes no recommendations with regard to Australia’s foreign military relationships, foreign military organisations or service personnel from the UK.”

The MoD spokesman added that the BBC’s Panorama’s episode “jumps to unjustified conclusions from allegations that have already been fully investigated”.

“We have provided a detailed and comprehensive statement to Panorama, highlighting unequivocally how two Service Police operations carried out extensive and independent investigation into allegations about the conduct of UK forces in Afghanistan.

“Neither investigation found sufficient evidence to prosecute. Insinuating otherwise is irresponsible, incorrect and puts our brave Armed Forces personnel at risk both in the field and reputationally.

“The Ministry of Defence of course stands open to considering any new evidence, there would be no obstruction. But in the absence of this, we strongly object to this subjective reporting.”

A BBC source suggested that people waited to comment on the episode “once they have watched investigation in full”.

A statement from the BBC read:“This is the culmination of a four year investigation, which includes new evidence and eye witness accounts, and is firmly in the public interest. The MoD’s position is reflected fully within the film. We stand by our journalism.”ENDS

Don’t watch any BBC TV now or radio as its all mostly one sided propaganda. I do look at the news website just to see how they are trying to brain wash or influence people. What a better time to look at their comments on the possible runners and riders for new PM, remember we only need a new PM because of the relentless BBC articles against him. They have this headline ‘Who could be the new PM’ https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-60037657. Lets consider what they write about some of them and what they miss out.
Jeremy Hunt – Bbc seem to like him, tax cuts, son of an admiral, self-made millionaire and he’s an influential backbencher. They don’t remind us that he wanted to lock up people who had Covid like the Chinese, that he was a big supporter of vaccine passports and mandates, that he wants us all poorer with the net zero bollox oh and he just loves the EU.

Sadjid Javid or as I like to call him the malteser headed C**t. He’s going to reduce income tax by a whole 1p and scrap the national insurance rise, packistani so we all love ethnics. They don’t tell us all that he votes for the same things as Hunt, so us all poorer (Net Zero) with the prospect of more lockdowns.

Slimeball Sunak, he will focus on economy and won’t reduce taxes until the economy improves, so implying he is money wise, well he did marry a billionaire. He saved us all during the pandemic by giving healthy people money to stay at home so he’s just great. What they don’t tell us is that he was a snake to Boris, he was likely involved in obtaining the photos of boris at one of his lockdown parties, also he wants to waste over 100 billion on HS2, wanted to have covid passports and wants us all poorer with new zero.

Zahawi – Another immigrant background who had to flee Iraq the poor mite, he will lower taxes and made his reputation as vaccine minister and got promoted to education. They don’t tell us that he has lied about vaccines, lied about deaths and tried to force healthy doctors and nurses to get an experimental vaccine that they didn’t want through pain of losing their jobs.

My guess is that the beep will try and install any of the above.
All on the BBC list are pretty crap but researching more on them I think either Suella Braverman or Mordaunt could be the best of a bad bunch. That Suella Braverman wants an end to the ECHR, finally sort out immigration, has said net zero is too costly and Penny Maudunt was against the EU too and never wanted vaccine passports.

I suspect the BBC will try and highlight negative things about these two politicians in the next days/weeks and highlight the positives with the others above. Troubling times. I just wish Richard Tice and Reform would get in, its like if we vote conservative we get labour light and if we vote labour we are doomed even more quickly.

Against my better judgement, this evening I listened to ‘PM’, Radio Four’s flagship evening news programme. Of course they covered the Tory leadership contest, but in their own perverse way.
The bulk of the report was concerned with the various candidates’ attitude to Net Zero. Of course the candidates were in varying degrees mealy-mouthed on the subject, trying to balance virtue signalling with the grim reality of the present economic situation.
The next most interesting thing about the contest, if the BBC was to be believed, was the fact that the majority of the candidates aren’t white. This was presented as a jolly good thing, but surprising because the Tories are all racists.
After that there was an item that promised to be about the police, but it soon became clear that it was really about race. Off switch.

There’s a massive protest happening in Holland. The farmers are very concerned that the Dutch government’s Net Zero policies will ruin farming productivity. This is big news, and is getting a lot of coverage all over the world. But “the world’s most respected news organisation” as the BBC modestly calls itself, appears not to have heard about this protest. I just googled “Dutch+farmers+protest+BBC” and all I got with all those words was be a brief item about a protest in 2019. I haven’t heard a word about the present protest on BBC TV or radio.
This is ‘bias by omission’. The BBC doesn’t want us to know that people are opposing Net Zero policies.

The Afghan refugee commanding Ukrainian troops
    https://www.bbc.com/news/av/world-europe-62098529

I have to say I’m sick to the back teeth of the BBC wrapping their far-Left agenda up in their lies and hypocrisy and presenting it as news.

This video is quite clearly meant to educate us all that ‘Afghanistan refugees are as good as any of the locals’ by the false equivalence of one single example who appears to be a decent person. Meanwhile they totally ignore any and and all of the bad things the others do because of their fanatical religion and stone-age culture.

The video keeps flashing up his name with ‘Commander’ underneath it. How many does he ‘command’ you ask ?. 500 ?. 1000 ?.

No – 12. And it looks like they are all the ‘new’ Ukranian army of older people who wouldn’t normally be called up whose job is to free up the others to go and fight at the front.

Just to be clear, I wish this man and the people fighting with him all the luck in the world if he ever does go to the front against the unstoppable, brutual Russian advance but I absolutely object to the BBC picking this one example purely because he’s a refugee then lying through their teeth in their usual ways about his importance.

There are a hundred front-line REAL, incredibly brave Ukranian soldiers being blown to pieces every day and the BBC and the Left don’t care one bit because there’s no political agenda in it for them. Just like they don’t care about dead black or BAME people if their killer wasn’t white.

    Hypocrite scum.

Never let it be said the tax payer-leveraged media bohemoth that is the BBC – which has strangled out of existance our former independent local and regional media – doesn’t spare a thought for the niche operators. Well, the more colourful the niche, the more they like it of course. Jambo!

Olympic Plastic Brit Mo Farah revelations are splashed all over the press this morning – as if we couldn’t have guessed: Sir Mo: I’m not who you think I am (left-leaning tabloid-sized ‘i’ newspaper)

The 1972 Bernie Taupin/Elton John, composition Rocket Man described a character confessing:

“I’m not the man they think I am at home”

That’s true: In 1969, Elton John was engaged to be married to his first girlfriend Linda Woodrow, but he ended the relationship two weeks before their wedding date. Elton John officially came out as gay to Rolling Stone magazine in 1992.

We do have to admire the Metro’s pithy punning sub-header: Inflated numbers: Yesterday’s audacious bid comes amid a huge rise in small boat crossings… – by the way, has anyone heard any of the several contenders for Tory PM say a single convincing word about stopping this immigration conveyor belt?

Tellingly the FT’s frontpage pic of the pick of the front runner left-leaning Tories reveals it’s – No Country For Old (White) Men – on this crowded little island of ours: Crowded field: from left: Kemi Badenoch, Liz Truss, Rishi Sunak and Penny Mordant.

Hastings 1066, The Charge of the Light Brigade, Isandlwana and Rorke’s Drift, The Somme 1916, Dunkirk… we British do tend to celebrate and rather revel in our military defeats. We left the Metro mid-channel in their headline… Here’s a new one to add to the hallowed list of duff battle honours: …hugh rise in small boat crossings since minister put MoD in charge (Metro)

Heatwave is ‘risk to life’ insists the Express – what isn’t reckoned a risk to life these days? Terrorism and crime committed by anonymous illegal entrants to the country? Ah, that’s a small risk compared to the chance of us getting an Olympic gold medal prospect, eh?

We need more British interest in competitive sport – with 8-0 scores clearly this sport isn’t all that competitve: Women’s Euros: Lionesses look gr-eight as they hammer Norwegians – careful now ‘i’ newspaper – you oughtn’t to refer to their looks. SAS reports reveal troubling pattern of suspicious deaths in Afghanistan
    https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-62083196

‘SAS operatives in Afghanistan repeatedly killed detainees and unarmed men in suspicious circumstances, according to a BBC investigation.’

‘MAY HAVE repeatedly killed’ BBC. You can’t blatantly assert it to be true just from your own report by two snowflakes.

Here we have Panorama doing what Panorama does best (‘best’ meaning it’s the only thing they can do). Starting with a conclusion then doing anything and everything they can to support it.

I wonder if they will give the actions of the SAS some proper context about what these men they supposedly killed had done. Maybe some graphic video of our soldiers having to walk round the edge of some farmland taking a different long, difficult route every day while the Afghan enemy follow them and watch from 400 meters away because they know they are untouchable if they are not carrying weapons. Then, when they get to the right place, the signal being given and the bomb set off. Then maybe show the pieces of our soldiers scattered across the field.

Or maybe instead Panorama will present it as cold blooded murder – as if it could have happened in the street next to yours so make sure you lock your door.

Reading between the lines of the situations where it happened, the people they killed were not sat drinking tea. They had guns and would have happily and slowly hacked off the head of every one of those SAS soldiers if they could.

The SAS are not regular grunts. They are switched on people. I am confident that the majority – if not all – of those they killed were the enemy and as a result of an intelligence-led operation.. I bet they saved dozens of our soldiers lives by doing it and I’m glad they are on our side.

One thing I am absolutely certain about : they will not get a fair hearing from Panorama. They will do their level best to make them look like bloodthirsty devils. The thing is, in war you need people like this. If you put that Panorama team in the middle of one of those situations – or any member of the BBC staff I suspect – they would hide in a wardrobe and pee their pants.

I wonder if for balance, they will do a program on what ISIS did to people in the name of Islam. Or what the rape gangs did. Or what the Taliban do. Or the lies by witensses and their lawyers from all the other accusations which have been dismissed after costing us millions.

It’s clear whose side the BBC are on. From this article and dozens more like it. Meanwhile lawyers like Starmer will be frantically trying to make some money out of it.

The UK Government stated that as Nejad is a foreign convicted terrorist he is unable to apply for asylum but could not be deported under human-rights law: the Iranian authorities continue to want to try Nejad separately for the murder of the two hostages but were unable to offer acceptable assurances to the British that he would not be tortured or executed upon repatriation (during his trial they had said he should receive “islamic justice”). Also, there is now a Shia-majority government in Iraq with closer relations with its Shia-cleric-led neighbour and no third country was willing to accept him. He was freed from HM Prison Ford in October 2008 after 27 years in gaol and allowed to remain in the UK. On 12 October, Iran’s deputy foreign minister, Mehdi Safari, summoned the British ambassador, Geoffrey Adams, to protest at this “condemnable and indefensible” act. P.C. Lock wrote to the UK Government protesting against his release. Despite suffering life-threatening injuries, medical clerk Dadgar said he’d forgiven him and signed a release petition with other hostages, commenting, “He has been punished. Fair enough.” He added that if returned to Iran they would “shoot him as soon as he got off the plane.” He lives in south London with a new identity.[14][15][16]

Well, after seeing a good deal of the current Contenders for PM I have to say that I have lost a bit of my enthusiasm for Penny Mordaunt which I expressed a couple threads ago. As it stands so far in my personal rankings Suella Braverman stands firmly in first place.
My second choice is a bit harder it is between Liz Truss and Kemi Badenoch. I like the latter but she has had no cabinet experience and no baptism of fire and the former may be just a bit too ambitious for her abilities but even though a latecomer to Brexit she certainly has been pushing Brexit as hard as she could. Credit where credit’s due.
Penny has been related to fourth on the list. I have taken on board the comments on her video launch that people here made. Thank you all.
Them’s me pick at the moment. I am surprised that there are no blokes on my list. I do know the difference, which is becoming rare these days. Alas, I think these particular bunch of chaps fail to inspire me and I’ll add I’m not an fan of the feminist movement. It was a long time ago when I announced to my Lefty circle of friends that I had become a born again sexist.
But I would find it quite acceptable if one of the aforementioned women got the role. They may not be perfect, but even the least of these, even with their faults would be an improvement on the chaotic reign of Fattaturk.
I know the BBC played a big part in his downfall, but his biggest enemy was himself.

        A bizarre response, Marky.
Not related to anything I wrote. But then you post a lot like that these days. You have no idea how sceptical I may or may not be be.
You just assume you know what I’m thinking. Grand fail, mate.

@Yasser actually I understand what @Marky’s point was
You said “hmm I not sure what Tory should be leader”
His point is the elites these days are all WEF GreenDream puppets.
So the WEF are simply letting puppet-Boris go and are swapping him for another puppet.

Only when you get Trump or Orban are you getting a non-puppet.

Stew, you are quoting me saying something I never said in that post.
Please don’t do that. Read what I said again. Thanks.

@Yasser I still think it’s an accurate paraphrase of what you said
If it isn’t how would you paraphrase it ?

But my main point was to explain what Marky was saying.

Omission is the greatest lie ….

Dear Marianna Spring (BBC wages paid under threat of prosecution),

As I’ve had to look at your BBC news and use other sources to determine that your news is not news but selective editorial opinion I’d like to request that I have a refund for the last 4 years plus get the BBC free from now on.

Please let me know how I can go about this as I am willing to create a full list of articles that I’ve had to investigate plus time taken for me to check your fact checker whilst realising that the BBC intentionally removes news rather than incorrectly report on it, uses images to sway opinion or misleads with the main titles hoping no one reads the full article.

‘Omission is the greatest form of lie.’

CAS-4987700-SY1FTF : BBC NewsWatch says boredom with pro-Brexit march.

CAS-4844672-N8FDYY: Update on the MP Expenses 2009 scandal in 2018.

CAS-4939547-J71Z1V: Here’s hoping Ireland do the right thing G.Lineker.

CAS-4937378-YKMWBJ: BBC not reporting ‘Day of Freedom’ March 06may2018.

CAS-4906141-BFJQL0: I take offence that presenters promote their books.

CAS-4892811-C820SC: I am offended that I have to pay the BBC TV Tax.

CAS-4824332-633N1P: What happened in Italy was not covered …

CAS-4933135-ZV3V7F: The omission is the most powerful form of lie …

CAS-6005141-S1V9D1: Not seen a report on the UK Governments Covid19

Let me know how to go about resolving the issue of paying for something that wastes my time as I have to check each story rather than rely on its accuracy.

      Cheers,
      Mark

TOADY Watch #3 – oh no, what? Another one? (© Brenda from Bristol)

Yes, there’s another BBC Panorama ‘exposé’ to watch for you lucky(?) people who haven’t dumped your TV Licences – yet – and guess what? It casts a shadow (some might use the word smear) on the British military and thence, by extension, on the present PM-less Conservative Government. Funny thing but it relates to the British military involvement in Afghanistan. Now when did that start, BBC? The 6 a.m. TOADY News mentioned 2010, sort of implicating David Cameron and his Conservative-led but Coalition Government in all of this. But when did that Afghan military involvement really start, BBC?

Would it have been as far back as 2003? Now, BBC, who was Prime Minister then? Not David Cameron. Was it John Major, another Conservative? No. Come on, BBC. Own up. It was Tony Blair, John Major’s current best buddy and a Labour lawyer leader just like the present sucker, in charge for the time being, of LacklustreLabour.

Listeners and viewers, you know you can trust the BBC. Not.

The Army is kicking out a Green Beret who saved a child from being raped
      https://www.wearethemighty.com/articles/green-beret-afghanistan-bacha-bazi/
A U.S. Army sergeant is being kicked out of the service over a 2011 incident in which he and his captain confronted an Afghan police commander who had brutally raped a local boy.

      …..

Bacha bāzī (Persian: بچه بازی, lit. “boy play”;[1] from بچه bacheh, “boy”, and بازی bazi “play, game”) is a slang term in some parts of Afghanistan and Pakistan[2][3] for a custom in Afghanistan involving child sexual abuse by older men of young adolescent males or boys, called dancing boys, often involving sexual slavery and child prostitution.[4] In the 21st century, bacha bazi is practiced in various parts of Afghanistan and Northwestern Pakistan.[5][6][3] Force and coercion are common, and security officials state they are unable to end such practices and that many of the men involved in bacha bazi are powerful and well-armed warlords.[7][8][9]

During the Afghan Civil War (1996–2001), bacha bazi carried the death penalty under Taliban law.[10] Under the post-Taliban government, the practice of dancing boys was illegal under Afghan law, but the laws were seldom enforced against powerful offenders, and police had reportedly been complicit in related crimes.[11][12] Despite international concern and its illegality, the practice continued under the post-Taliban government.[13][14]

A controversy arose after allegations surfaced that U.S. government forces in Afghanistan after the invasion of the country deliberately ignored bacha bazi.[15] The U.S. military responded by claiming the abuse was largely the responsibility of the “local Afghan government”.[16]
