I sense anything out of the ordinary. A good means of measuring the rapid decline of the country. I’m reminded this morning by Royal Mail who email to alert me to a delivery between 0800 & 1300. Value of order from Ebay? £5.49. Last week a Royal Mail ‘Signed for’ delivery containing a large value was left on the front step. I was in.

Anybody else noticed the sudden startling decline also in deliveries from the private companies. “Your driver, Jason, will deliver your parcel between x & y”. The ‘Golden’ days? No longer. the parcels just turn up a the front door. I’m at home most of the time, retired, so its not so much of a problem for me. But the parcel delivery service is falling apart across the range. It must be in a state of chaos with re-deliveries and, ‘no-shows’ / ‘lost in post’ a regular problem with its attendant refunds etc.

My favourite one was when I was stupid enough to buy a £1700? iPhone from Amazon . I waited and watched the delivery ….. an unmarked van …. With a Paki delivery ‘man ‘- no ID – went past my house. I went after him at the next stop …
Not much engleeesh – he rang someone – not much engleesh … I told him to search the van – not there – look again – ‘oh – is it this ‘- trying to nick an iPhone – they knew what it was .

I contacted Amazon – told them their deiveries were being ‘subbed ‘ and attempted theft – could have cared less ….

However, as with the current crop, the process of immigration, approved and managed well vs. neither should be properly assessed as a benefit to cost exercise.

Getting folk in for to do stuff rather falls apart if they don’t actually work, but grow old and need support, and generate offspring with like minds and generational national traits that see them calling on emergency services a lot when interacting.

Liar’s Poker is a non-fiction, semi-autobiographical book by Michael Lewis describing the author’s experiences as a bond salesman on Wall Street during the late 1980s.[1] First published in 1989, it is considered one of the books that defined Wall Street during the 1980s, along with Bryan Burrough and John Helyar’s Barbarians at the Gate: The Fall of RJR Nabisco, and the fictional The Bonfire of the Vanities by Tom Wolfe. The book captures an important period in the history of Wall Street. Two important figures in that history feature prominently in the text, the head of Salomon Brothers’ mortgage department Lewis Ranieri and the firm’s CEO John Gutfreund.

The book’s name is taken from liar’s poker, a gambling game popular with the bond traders in the book.

I can hardly believe what I’m reading about the equipment – apparently no redundantly powered positioning beacons, no redundantly powered voice and data modems, no redundantly powered critical systems relaying status to the surface at all it seems. I expected that if there hadn’t been a catastrophic mechanical failure they’d be chatting away to the surface working through the rescue – not the case it seems.

It is possible, though unlikely, that the price of gold will crash at some stage in the future. So having a high proportion of assets in gold – quite aside from the loss of interest or dividends – makes no sense either. In strategic terms Gordon Brown’s decision was easy to defend. In tactical terms – the timing, announcing in advance how much would be sold, etc – it was dreadful.

One final thought. Going down £5bn does not sound good. But in terms of the national finances of a GDP of more than $2,000bn, it is irrelevant. Gordon Brown made much bigger mistakes than that.

The consequence of the BBC’s repeating of lies and fabrications, acting as the Arab information services, can be most clearly seen in their reporting of an Israeli Arab War in 1967 known later as the Six day war.

The version of events that corresponded to the truth could have come from the BBC’s reporter in Jerusalem but instead the BBC chose to give even the most improbable of the Arabs reports full coverage .

For example, the identities of the combatants were distorted. The Egyptians and other Arab states proclaimed the completely imaginary participation of American and British pilots and planes in the attacks on their airfields. The Egyptian Air force which in fact never left the ground was said to be wreaking havock in Tel Aviv , Haifa and Netanya and the Israeli airforce was said to have lost 160 planes in the first day alone. (Only 19 Israeli planes were downed in the whole war.)

As the BBC and BBC World service was so well respected as a news organisation at that time ,to the world it seemed certain (that even allowing for the well known facts that the Arabs exaggerated their numbers known as “the – Oriental imagination” ) that Israeli planes had been downed and by the second day that Israel was on the brink of defeat. Many hours after the officer commanding the Israeli airforce had announced the destruction of the Egyptian Air force , British newspapers were still debating whether Britain could stand aside and see Israel destroyed. ( Randolph and Winston Churchill The 6 day war ( London 1967)

President Nasser had misled the Arabs , when he claimed Egyptian planes had bombed Israel cities etc and he certainly misled King Hussain of Jordan . However, if it hadn’t been for the BBC’s mis- reporting and confirming this , King Hussain would probably not have made the decision to attack Israel and to persist in the attack even after the Israeli Prime Minister urged him to avoid this clash.

As a result of Jordan entering the war, Israel had to defend itself against the Jordanians. Israel managed to capture the territory that Jordan had illegally occupied in 1948 (only Britain and Pakistan recognising it ) and re-unite Jerusalem . Israel, found itself responsible for a population of thousands of Palestinian Arabs, living in squalor and poverty.

Between 1967 and 1994 Israel saved their lives by totally eradicating from their population , poliomyelitis, neonatal-tetanus and measles. Also, Israel dramatically reduced the death rate of Palestinian newborns from over 60 per 1000 to 19 per 1000 when Israel was in charge.

UK puts pen to paper on fifth trade pact with a US state
The UK will today sign a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) designed to grow trade with Utah

The UK already has MoUs in place with Indiana, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Oklahoma, through which the UK is helping companies meet new commercial partners to develop their businesses. We are actively engaging with states including Texas, California, Colorado, and Florida to strengthen trade ties.

UK companies already employ over 10,000 people in Utah and exported £219 million in goods last year, with the MoU seeking to boost this further. Utah exported £5.7 billion worth of goods to the UK in 2022, making it Utah’s top international goods export market. Exports to the UK supported over 38,000 jobs in the state in 2019.

Absolutely cretinous ‘news’ coverage ( joke) of the latest interest rate rises.
All we really get is the sentimentalised claptrap of carefully selected whinges whose mortgages are going up. Viewers, get out your hankies. That’s what the BBC wants. The BBC want the government to intervene. We need to subsidise the increases in interest rates to mortgage holders. Paid for by money printing or higher taxes. Apparently. The opportunistic, useless, cuddly Lib Dems want to do this and they are sympathetically covered.

No proper analysis whatever, such as the BoE being asleep on the job for months, the decade of historically all time LOW interest rates, and the effect of money-printing post banking 2008 crisis and covid response.

A travesty of journalism but absolutely in line with the unceasing BBC doom-and- gloom anti-government narrative.

Barely even that at the BBC when it suits them.

The BBC deleted a comment with this line in it:

‘I suppose all the intelligent people get their news elsewhere these days.’

        Because:

‘Are considered likely to disrupt, provoke, attack or offend others.’

Of course the real reason is that they were removing a comment which did not agree with their agenda. THAT is the extent of BBC censorship now.

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-65987378

Perfect Leftist topic to investigate. Black people given carte blanche to put down evil white farmers.

Then we discover ‘like prison’ means:
‘She said workers were addressed by numbers, rather than names, as if they were in prison’

So it warranted the headline ‘like prison’ just because they were referred to by numbers BBC ???. That is an outrageous lie by omission.

Then we find out what the whol einvestigation is about:

‘The committee is investigating the treatment of migrant workers on British farms.’

What a very specific agenda-based investigation. I would be far more interested if they investigated the abuse and slave labour camps of the factories around Leicester. You know the ones : those who kept running illegally using illegal immigrants through lockdown.

That story quickly vanished and we were never told what ethnic group was running those shops because the BBC are the most disgusting opf double-standard racists.
