Start the Week 28th August 2023

How will the BBC report the incoming Ultra Low Emissions Scheme being inflicted on unapproved vehicles in London from Tuesday 29th ? I think we can guess – and other towns and cities will be encouraged to get their schemes too …

The Left have certainly got a grip on the UK at present. It is amazing that Boris winning an 80 seat majority in 2019 has created so much opposition from the media, Whitehall and the Unions.

I wonder if the sucker in charge of Labour together with his Blairite Chancellor will be able to control them should they win the next General Election.

excerpt Unaccountable organisations like Microsoft-backed NewsGuard are institutionally structured to rig the findings against right-of-centre media.

They then market their findings (“BrandGuard“) to advertising agencies who are keen to avoid their adverts appearing next to jihadi beheading videos.

I recommend looking at the Hoover Institute Goodfellows podcast from last week titled ‘Meat and Potatoes’ with Andrew McCarthy as the guest in which the panel discuss the effect of lawfare on US politics.
These four chaps, highly educated and non partisan , take it as proven that :

#Hilary Clinton ought to have been prosecuted in 2016,
#The Russia Hoax was run by the FBI and DoJ for three years to hobble Trump’s presidency .
#the DoJ is slow walking the Hunter Biden investigation to protect Joe
#that most of the indictments against Trump have no validity but they do think that he broke his oath of office on Jan 6 th but that it wasn’t a criminal offence.

The political corruption of the DoJ , the FBI and the MSM worries them . 2024 will be the third election in a row we’re the deep state has interfered in the democratic process. They think that the USA is heading for a major constitutional crisis .

But to my astonishment they aren’t sure that all of the above , although well proven , and recognised by a majority of Americans will swing the election in Trump’s favour!

They don’t mention election fixing but unless the American voters are either immensely stupid or happy to participate in a game of charades every four years , how else could Trump not win.

If the characters you describe thing america is still a democracy or that the next election is already as fixed as the last one then they ain’t worth a spit .

President Trump will never be president again – the FBI or his secret service would kill him first . I bet the obituaries are already ‘good to go ‘….
If they can get him locked up it will be even easier to heart attack him …

      • Doublethinker says:

As I say they will fix it one way or another and an assassination removes the problem permanently. But a hell of a lot of Americans will be certain that it was a political assassination and that the ‘duly’ elected president is illegitimate and therefore they are entirely justified in rebelling against the government. That is the constitutional crisis.
The USA and UK both have large sections of their populations who don’t believe the political class represents them and often operates against their best interests . Instability is in the air. The big difference between the US and UK are the guns. We can be bullied into submission , the American dissenters can’t be. Which of course is why they have the right to bear arms in the constitution.

But surely cycling at more than 20 mph requires vast expenditure of energy and hence CO2 generation. Scientific studies , in my garage actually but as valid as anything from Imperial nonetheless, have shown that cycling five miles at 20 mph generates twice as much CO2 as doing so at 5 mph . The mayor would be well advised to enforce a speed limit of 5 mph on cyclists to achieve Net Zero.

You know, I used to love Midsomer Murders. It was always a must see. Homicidal maniacs rampaging through these lovely, thatched villages, populated with extraordinary eccentrics. I don’t think I missed an episode. Not any more…

I lasted about 20 minutes into yesterday’s appalling episode. God’s teeth, it was awful. I mean, here we are, in the deepest and most English of communities and half the population are ethnics. You’re tripping over the bleeders. I thought I’d tuned into the high-lights of the Notting Hill Carnival by mistake. It was ludicrous.

One black character even came out with the line about a fellow villager, “Well, at least he’s not one of these bloody newcomers.”

The scripts are dire, the acting is so over the top it would be more suited to a pantomime than a TV drama. And the bloody cast would be better off in Porgy and Bess.

Midsomer used to be a cracking show. It was all handled with in a light and humorous touch, rather similar to the old Miss Marples. Now it’s just silly and irritating.

    Bring back Brian True-May.

If you can be arrested for misgendering, sorry, calling a man a man or lose your job if you think wimmin have knobs then a small change in your car’s designation is tiny in comparison. Cars are full of electrics anyway so it’s not such a big change and nowhere near the current gender deniers going against all history of life on Earth who say you can be whatever gender you want to be.

A classic example of why the Today show is so dire these days.

So often ‘interviews’ on Today are not about informing us but are designed to ‘get’ the Tory politician….it’s more hunt than exploration. It’s Gotcha territory where the ‘journalist’ is more intent on trying to create a ‘scandal’ to make themselves look good.

Mishal Husain interviewing Suella Braverman was just such an exercise in self-indulgent, self-promotional ego massaging by Husain. Constant interrruptions, aggressive approach and a barrage of questions, often repeated as Husain never listens to the answers, and the doubling back on narratives.

Husain insisted that making police do their job and having them investigate every crime will mean that they won’t have enough resources for ‘serious crime’ like rape and domestic abuse.

However….conversely Husain also said that removing the requirement for police to become social workers and hold the hands of mental health patients would mean the NHS and care services would have to take up the strain.

Hmmmm….so making police investigate all crimes would divert resources from other investigations but it’s OK for police to act as social workers and not do police work…such as investigate rapes and domestic abuse?

This illustrates how the BBC’s finest aren’t interested in informing us, the facts or a rational discussion…it’s all about point scoring and gotchas….the BBC’s approach is to be hostile to anything the government does and to make the government defend it as if their policy was de facto wrong.

It is a hunt not an exploration.

The Today format is intensely unhelpful in informing us….the short, sharp interview with hostile and aggressive questioning that never allows the subject to expand and explain is utterly frustrating and annoying.

The BBC tells us we no longer have the attention span to cope with long interviews…because of course this suits them…in a short interview they can drive the narrative pressurising the subject and constantly chop and change direction and bombard them with questions, often contradictory, in order to get them angry and frustrated….designed you might think to get them to get them angry and show them in a bad light….not designed to illuminate but to put on a show…it’s more Colosseum than Oxford Uni.

Contrast with the long, slow pace of a Joe Rogan interview in which you get a far, far more informative and intelligent way of interviewing…and just look at the views…..who gets more views…Rogan or Today? July to September Today had 6 million listeners in total and falling…Rogan has 11 million per episode.

.. I cannot figure why blue labour go on it . None of them stand their ground – none of them fight their corner – just limp messaging .

We know that the BBC’s reporting on Ulez is in fact nothing more than the London Mayor’s propaganda which is why the BBC are reporting that councils refusing to put up signs warning of the Ulez zones are bad, bad people….drivers could be fined!…or could they?

‘The RAC has raised concerns over the refusal by councils to install warning signs for the expanded Ultra Low Emission Zone (Ulez).

The expansion, effective from Tuesday, imposes a daily charge of £12.50 on some vehicles entering London.

Six out of the seven councils neighbouring the capital have not signed an agreement with Transport for London (TfL) to install warnings signs.

Many roads into London will therefore lack notice and drivers could be fined.

What the BBC, and the RAC, fail to point out is that with no signs drivers cannot be fined….and even if signs are there they must comply with the law…as the Telegraph reports today…but not the BBC….you might think a highly relevant story linked to the above BBC one…but no…..

Ulez signs ‘could be unlawful’ after tribunal ruling

Adjudicator agrees with motorist that Lez signs did not comply with laws stating that drivers must be warned if they will be charged’
‘London’s controversial Ultra Low Emissions Zone (Ulez) has faced a fresh setback after a ruling found signs for its sister scheme were unlawful.

Noel Willcox, from Hertfordshire, who runs a scaffolding company, was hit with £11,500 in fines under the existing Low Emissions Zone (Lez) for driving a truck to and from a depot in North West London.

However Mr Willcox refused to pay the fines and took his appeal to a tribunal arguing the signs did not comply with laws stating that motorists must be warned if they will be charged.

Graeme Wallington, the adjudicator, ruled that Mr Wilcox had argued correctly that the signs did not provide enough detail and therefore he did not need to pay the charge.

“I accept the Appellant’s submissions that if the signs are not authorised and do not provide adequate information of the charging scheme then no charge or penalty is payable,” the ruling said.’

Not something the Mayor wants known…and the BBC conveniently forgets to report the story.

    The air traffic computer down.

I’m hearing lots about this yet not one person so far has mentioned the possibility of some kind of cyber or hostile attack on the computer.

Happening on their busiest day of the year might not be a coincidence either.

Maybe it is a computer fault but in that case wouldn’t it be a case of replacing a faulty circuit board or panel.
If some virus or a hostile attack caused this then that would explain the long time to try and sort it out.

Still, it may be just a normal breakdown. Pity it looks like there’s no backup system. I wonder why not.

Fight Escalates Over Race-Based Hiring Program at the FAA

It may come as a shock to most Americans that the Obama administration dropped a skill- based system for selecting and hiring air traffic controllers (ATCs), and replaced it with a new system designed to favor applicants on the basis of their race.

TWatO Watch #1 – you do wonder at the brain capacity of these researchers …

… or whether they have a brain at all. They are obviously not using their brains. An Australian women, thankfully without a high pitched squeaky voice, led or did the research into the latest FEAR scare. Sorry cannot remember her name, may be on the BBC web-site, but this lass (or non-okker sheila) has been researching the supposed effect of (FX: dramatic chord from orchestra) ‘Ultra Processed Foods’. She said they were commonplace in the UK and USA. I would reply that is something of ‘the kettle calling the pot black’ because the Australian ties to the USA are very strong and that might include diet and foodstuffs.

This Australian woman has overlooked one key fact in her research: in the UK and possibly the USA also, life expectancy, Covid-19 Pandemic apart, has been getting ever longer. Ooops! A supplementary fact that this woman has overlooked is that what she would call a UPF is not necessarily harmful. Breakfast cereals are mentioned in this latest Fear Scare. This woman is obviously unable to read or has not read what a little panel on the carton says about its cereal contents. Ooooops all over again!

Finally does she know what the word Food means in the title Food and Drug Aministration of the USA and also what that organisation does for the inhabitants of the USA?

I also do wonder at the capabilities of the supervisors of this research.

The Daily Mail is getting obsessed with articles about these Ultra Processed Foods. I am not sure how this all fits in with the WEF / Soros or even BBC agenda. Vegan foods tend to be the most processed of all with lots of salt, sugar to give the food taste and coconut oil (very trendy and very high in saturated fat or cholesterol, I forget which but not good for one). Then of course we are supposed to be eating insects which are also highly processed to make them palatable. I don’t think the BBC will run with the ultra processed foods thing as it doesn’t fit the agenda.

The BBC are also obsessed…report on Today this morning telling us how bad it is for us….never mind the cheap and plentiful food has made us bigger, stronger and longer lived…..they did admit that due to the cost of living crisis taking away this source of food might impact the poorest.

Their description of processed food was…made in a factory….thus bad.

Soooo…you’re meant to grow your own or buy fresh from a market and process it yourself.

Really it’s more to do with snobbishness and a belief that processed food somehow harms the environment than actual facts….but there’s nothing wrong with processed food….it’s cheap, tastes good, is quick to prepare and….it is nutritious….it also stops food waste…preservatives mean food lasts longer and isn’t thrown away and the factory processors utilise all the parts for one purpose or another….which you or I may not.

Take the evil Burger…which the BBC disdains and scorns for its ultra-processed, meaty badness.

What if I called it a ‘sandwich’…..pastrami, lettuce, cheese, mayo and bread…..what’s the difference except the burger is warm? The BBC would applaud the sandwich but not the burger…sheer snobbishness because McDonalds etc are fast food place catering to the heathen masses.

Another example of when ideology, ignorance and stupidity combine and is turned into ‘news’…and then, they hope ‘policy’.

Let the great unwashed eat cake.

Prosecutors open sexual assault investigation into Rubiales kiss
    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/world-66632458

I see the BBC consider this kissing at the world cup to be of such huge significance, they are running daily articles and now a ‘live update’ feed on it.

I feel sorry for Rubiales : the video suggests there was nothing sleezy going on : he was just ecstatic with happiness.

Now he is suffering the full onslaught of the extreme misandrists and feminists who drive the #metoo movement. And I include the BBC in that group.

We’ve seen this a dozen times already : the BBC will not let this drop now until he is gone. Eventually he will be forced to resign by the non-stop pressure from the left.

#metoo haven’t had a chance to vent their hatred like this for a while now and they have descended on him like a medieval bloodthirsty mob. It’s quite disgusting to watch.

What I saw warranted him to be disciplined and warned not to do it again. Not for him and his family to be ruined.

Had Mr Rubiales kissed this woman in a room where there had only been the two of them, I could understand her anger. It was in a stadium with thousands of people and in front of a camera showing to millions. It is highly unlikely that Mr Rubiales was going to rape her. Thank goodness Prince William hadn’t gone to the match, if England had won and him doing the same, I am sure the Princess of Wales would have forgiven him, but the BBC, never. It would have been used to bring down the monarchy. (And I am not joking).

I read that his mother has entered a church and gone on hunger strike due to what she describes as this witch hunt.

Interesting to see if this footie girlie and the weak_kneed soccer bosses will be happy if she snuffs it and they get two birds with one stone.

The whole thing sums up the dire state that humanity has been dragged down to by these brainless and evil shrieking wokesters and their bowing servants who really just want to hang on to their fat salaries.

As for the footie girl, it is obvious that she has been swept along by the mob of female male-haters in women’s soccer and now cannot see that what really happened was a result of a highly charged moment with very, very little consequence. He gave the kiss in front of thousands of people not pinned down in a hotel room for f’s sake. Any normal human can read this scenario and not come to such a contorted and hate-filled conclusion.

Three cheers for Mr John Ralfe.
    Who?
His letter to The Times was published last Saturday.

He points out that the pension entitlement for a hospital consultant is worth no less than £30,000 on top of their average earnings of £134,000. Their total remuneration is therefore £164,000. Not only that but the pension changes announced in the last budget (the abolition of the lifetime allowance of £1,073,000) was deliberately done to appease consultants who were retiring early to avoid a massive pension tax demand. Their employee pensions are of course fully inflation protected even up to the dizzy 10% inflation heights of recent months. Are yours? No, I thought not.

The point being that the BBC absolutely always fail to mention this sort of thing when covering public sector pay demands.

Reference today’s project fear story, strongly featured by the statist, Orwellian BBC, that ‘ultra-processed food’ (clear definition not provided) leads to cardiovascular serious disease increase of (I think) 22 or 39% depending on the study.
Let’s take that at face value.

22 or 39% increase of what?
If the increase takes us from say 50% to let’s say 70% that’s rather different from an increase from say 1% to 1.4%. In the latter case, I’ll take the risk and keep eating (and thoroughly enjoying) the bacon butties.

Do the BBC ‘inform and educate us’? No, they just play the scare story to try and keep the population doing what it’s told is good for it, and taking cheap pot shots at private, non taxpayer funded, businesses along the way.
