Another article about the Russian attack which the Ukranian heros repulsed. This time they are completely over the border and there is a real danger the Ukranians will be routed. These forces include the ex-Wagner soldiers who have been waiting in Belarus, but the BBC don’t tell us that. And all claims by Russia are immediately followed by: ‘The BBC has not been able to independently verify the claim.’. A phrase which is tacked on right at the end when Ukraine are making their ridiculous assertions. In this case, it is certainly true but the BBC want to keep some doubt.
This article is another prime example of what the BBC has become. Knowledge of what they are writing about is now secondary to getting the right political tone.
Just look at what this BBC ‘reporter’ has written:
‘Ukrainian artillery guns are now firing back.’
Artillery guns ????. Nobody who knows what they are talking about ever call them that.
And: ‘As we surveyed the damage there was the screech of yet more glide bombs being released, followed by the heavy thud of the explosion.’
Glide bombs are released many miles from the front to keep out of the range of all the very expensive SAMs we gave them. The author clearly has no clue what a glide bomb is.

If you want to peruse a range of books by male authors who have produced many books and sold over 80 million…. fat chance, compared to female authors who have one book out, then you will have a wide choice.
So today I am going in to try the following:

I think I’ve spent more at ‘World of Books’ on Ebay, than at any High Street bookstore!

Just ask for anything by JK Rowling, Winston Churchill, Roald Dahl, Enid Blyton, Rudyard Kipling. Or a biography of Enoch Powell.

I am working my way through the James Bond books on Audible and very much enjoying them. Quite different to the films.

And then I am going for a quiet Sunday morning perusal of my local record shop, and if that grunge idiot is behind the counter, and has again decided, as he did last week on a quiet Sunday morning, that all the customers wanted to hear on the shop background music, was 45 minutes of death metal with a woman screaming (yes, not even attempting to sing, just screaming) at full volume for 45 minutes, I may consider tap dancing on his teeth.
At one of the (first?) Virgin record stores, by The Clocktower in Brighton, the boxes of records were literally in un-finished plywood, and there was a long row of mattresses in the window, covered in hippies with earphones clamped on their heads, in various stages of ecstasy/pain/oblivion!
At least it was quiet…

What made me chuckle was one item on my list ( a lovely album with a track I particularly admired) was described by ther person at the counter as “It’s rather old you know”
I was considering saying something about his large collection of Mozart and 1950s black jazz players etc but was too worn out by then, and to be honest, feeling a bit like John Cleese above.
On the YouTube page you posted, there was also a current favourite, ‘Fools Errand’ by Fleet Foxes…

I am not a fan of that band, but took my son to Knebworth for the experience.
If you have heard the phrase ” electric athmosphere” it most certainly described the best band entrance I am ever likely to experience, the noise and excitement of the crowd was deafening they did not even play for 5 minutes after arriving on stage, was quite amazing to experience, probably woke a few in a coma at Lister hospital 5 miles away….
BTW one reason for this reaction, and the actions of the singer, one of the key members of the band died a few weeks before the concert, you may see his uniform hanging up at the rear of the stage

Nadav Popplewell, 51, was captured with his mother from her home in Kibbutz Nirim when Hamas launched their deadly attacks in Israel.
The group, officially classed as a terror outfit by the UK Government, released undated footage on Saturday of Mr Popplewell with a black eye confirming his name.
Yet, just hours later, they released a second video in which they said he died of wounds sustained in an Israeli missile strike in Gaza.
Lord Cameron said the Foreign Office was currently ‘trying to work out what has happened’ to Mr Popplewell as he declined to give an update on Hamas’s claims.
But, appearing on the BBC’s Sunday With Laura Kuenssberg show, he blasted the ‘callous’ militants for ‘playing with the family’s emotions’.
