Start the Week 7 October 2024

101 hostages are still thought to be alive one year on . May they keep strong . How will the Islamic far left BBC mark the anniversary? Roll out the continuous anti Israel anti IDF unverified Islamic terrorist claims ? Probably . The BBC still refuses to refer to Islamic terrorist gangs such as Hamas as ‘terrorist ‘-even though the Law describes them as such. The clearest indication of there the BBC support lies .

“Hamas fires rockets into Israel on first anniversary of terrorist atrocity, prompting IDF to issue evacuation orders to Gazans and warn of ‘extreme’ response.

Israeli President Isaac Herzog began the day with a minute of silence at 6:29am – the moment the attack started – at the site of the Nova music festival near Re’im where heavily armed Hamas fighters killed at least 370 people.

Minutes later the service was marred by air raid sirens as Hamas declared it launched projectiles at the ‘enemy gatherings’ just a few kilometres from the border with Gaza, as well as at Tel Aviv.”

Regardless of the merits or importance of this case, the following is interesting:

“Rebekah Vardy wants to halve the £1.8million legal bill she faces in her ‘Wagatha Christie’ libel battle with Coleen Rooney, the High Court has been told.

She is demanding a 50 per cent cut in the settlement as it was alleged that Coleen was charging for a lawyer’s stay at a five-star Nobu Hotel.

In written submissions for a hearing beginning today, Jamie Carpenter KC, representing Rebekah, said that this included costs for a lawyer staying ‘at the Nobu Hotel, incurring substantial dinner and drinks charges as well as mini bar charges’. Reports today suggested that among the costs were £2,000 for her solicitor’s stay at London’s five-star Nobu Hotel and a £225 food and minibar tab.

Mr Carpenter said: ‘The costs dispute has been rendered particularly intractable by the sheer magnitude of the costs claimed by Mrs Rooney, in absolute terms and when compared to her agreed costs budget, the number of errors in the bill and the extraordinary nature of some of the costs claimed.

‘The bill, drawn at 100 per cent of the costs claimed totals £1,833,906.89.’
Mr Carpenter said the bill was ‘drawn without sufficient care’ and had ‘a ‘kitchen sink’ approach’, and included ‘over £120,000 of costs to which Coleen had no entitlement’. He also said that Coleen’s barrister David Sherborne, ‘charged total fees over the course of the proceedings of £497,850’.”

Lawyers costs are a shameless rip off. It’s a very strange way to do things but it’s perfectly legal for Lawyers (Solicitor or Barrister) to defraud the losing side in a legal action. They can and do literally charge what they like and it’s basically up to the victim to either pay up or contest the costs. There are Barristers who specialise in costs actions which often follow the case that generated them.

“Exclusive: BP abandons goal to cut oil output, resets strategy.

    LONDON, Oct 7 (Reuters)

BP has abandoned a target to cut oil and gas output by 2030 as CEO Murray Auchincloss scales back the firm’s energy transition strategy to regain investor confidence, three sources with knowledge of the matter said.

When unveiled in 2020, BP’s strategy was the sector’s most ambitious with a pledge to cut output by 40% while rapidly growing renewables by 2030. BP scaled back the target in February last year to a 25% reduction, which would leave it producing 2 million barrels per day at the end of the decade, as investors focused on near-term returns rather than the energy transition.

The London-listed company is now targeting several new investments in the Middle East and the Gulf of Mexico to boost its oil and gas output, the sources said.

Auchincloss took the helm in January but has struggled to stem the drop in BP’s share price, which has underperformed its rivals so far this year as investors question the company’s ability to generate profits under its current strategy.”

Nigel Farage and Reform UK threatens to bring private prosecution against men accused of attacking cops at Manchester Airport saying failure to charge them yet is evidence of ‘two-tier policing’

The letter to Ms Cooper, signed by the party’s five MPs, said: ‘We have genuine reason to be concerned that in fact the CPS is awaiting for the IOPC to find some fault with the police officers, which will then give them a reason not to progress charges against the assailants. This is totally unacceptable.’

The letter added: ‘We are therefore serving notice that if the CPS is not going to charge the assailants, then we will organise a private criminal prosecution against them. We have taken initial advice and have a legal team on standby to progress when required.’

The letter added that the prosecution would be crowdfunded if necessary.

Just took a look at the BBC main headlines page to see how the covered the anniversary of one of the worst terrorist massacres in history.

The are the two stories which were most prominent. See if you can spot the difference in style:

Israel marks year since Hamas attack as fighting rages on multiple fronts
    https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c4g57q20l1vo

They can’t even describe the butchering without trying to dilute the headline .

‘On Monday, families of the hundreds killed and dozens of people taken hostage at the festival gathered at the site early for the first memorial event of the day.’
‘Holding pictures of loved ones they listened to the last track played at the festival before Israeli President Isaac Herzog led a minute’s silence at 06:29, the moment that the attack began.’
‘Some of Israel’s most popular singers gave emotional performances, while the images of victims flashed on the screens.’

Then they have to insert his:
Outside of Israel, President Biden joined other world leaders in condemning what he called the “unspeakable brutality” of the Hamas attacks a year ago.
He also expressed horror at the subsequent war, saying “far too many civilians had suffered, far too much”.

It certainly is unspeakable : the BBC do not speak of it.

Contrast the matter-of-fact language with this second article:

Girl who lost eye in Israeli raid that killed father carries ‘pain mountains can’t bear’
    https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cr54z4q11qvo

‘Suddenly, Malak stops speaking, leans forward a fraction and kisses the baby sitting on her lap. Her sister Rahma is fair-haired and has blue eyes. There is a 13-year age difference between them. But to Malak – who lost her father in an Israeli attack – the four-month-old baby is an unimaginably precious gift.’
“I love her so much, in a way no-one else knows,” she says.

The whole article is absolutely loaded with extreme empathy like this. They key to this article is this:

‘The father of seven, believed to have been hit by shrapnel, was among more than 70 people killed during an Israeli commando operation to rescue two hostages held by Hamas in Rafah.’
‘Their tent was close to the scene of the fighting.’

Bingo. Hamas using civilians as human shields. Shame on you for blaming Israel BBC. You make me sick. You have no conscience whatsoever.

Another classic from ‘Fergal Keane’ who I have encountered several times now due to the extreme bias in his reports.

No doubt whatsoever about who the BBC support here. The terrorists.

The Nauru Regional Processing Centre is an offshore Australian immigration detention facility in use from 2001 to 2008, from 2012 to 2019, and from September 2021. It is located on the South Pacific island nation of Nauru and run by the Government of Nauru. The use of immigration detention facilities is part of a policy of mandatory detention in Australia.

The Nauru facility was opened in 2001 as part of the Howard government’s Pacific Solution. The centre was suspended in 2008 to fulfil an election promise by the Rudd government, but was reopened in August 2012 by the Gillard government after a large increase in the number of maritime arrivals by asylum seekers[and pressure from the Abbott opposition. Current Coalition and Labor Party policy states that because all detainees attempted to reach Australia by boat, they will never be settled in Australia, even though many of the asylum seekers detained on the island have been assessed as genuine refugees.

The highest population at the centre was 1,233 detainees in August 2014. A number of detainees have since been returned to their countries of origin, including Iraq and Iran.

One finds oneself somehow ineluctably drawn to those little side articles of news, beneath the headlines which, often unintentionally, yet vividly, throw a spotlight on what’s termed The State Of The Nation.

Yes, of course there’s: After 50,000 incidents last year… Our £14bn Hellholes… Deep trouble… Britain’s deepening pothole crisis – care of the giveaway Metro

Or, in politics: Biden pressured PM to give up Chagos Islands (Telegraph)

Yes, we know Britain is now an overpopulated, infrastructure-deficient, busted flush – amounting to little more than a US State Department adjunct… PM refuses to rule out UK military involvement if Israel attacks Iran (‘i’); UK is ‘illegal migrant capital of Europe’ with 745,000 people in the country without permission (LBC)

Rishi Sunak summed us up (after 1000 years of our national history) as no more than an ‘Economic Zone’ – and we’re fairly rubbish even judged by that limited metric: Cost of borrowing mounts as Reeves walks ‘tightrope’ over spending plans… Rise fuelled by jitters on Budget (FT) – we know in our hearts we’re slowly sinking under the weight of internationalised come one come all welfarism.

Yet Mr AsI finds his jaded eye alights on this one from the FT’s frontpage, bottom left-hand corner: London’s perilous Tube puts TFL under scrutiny – read beyond the FT’s ponderous, crossword-style header and we are told: On average 21 people each month fell between the train and the platform… in the final quarter of 2023-24, 86 were killed or badly injured in bus collisions

I’m inevitably reminded of that eminently quotable classic black comedy film Withnail Nail I and the scene where Richard E. Grant’s character Withnail drives the borrowed battered old Jaguar out of London heading for the country whilst regaling his pal played by Paul McGann with his tipsy nihilistic philosophy…

Set to the soundtrack of Jimmy Hendrix’s All Along The Watchtower… “there must be some kind of way out of here”

Withnail spots a road sign: Look at that, look at that! Accident black spot. These aren’t accidents. They’re throwing themselves into the road gladly. Throwing themselves into the road to escape all this hideousness.[To a pedestrian] Throw yourselves into the road darling, you haven’t got a chance.

The wealthiest people – if they are wise – will just upsticks and go live somewhere else better . Not that difficult as the overall state of the UK rapidly declines on all fronts .

There’s a number that 1% of people pay 29% of tax income – I haven’t seen the workings for this one but imagine if these people leave an increasingly hostile far left country – I would think wealthy Jewish people went long ago ( wise move ) but plenty of other groups will go .

Perhaps we won’t find out about asset sales going through now as the threat of increased CGT come in until next year …
…but as the cost of servicing the now huge interest bill will make the economy sicker – with higher taxes required to pay it …

      > they assume you can get 4.5GW from the renewables fleet – the true figure must be close to zero.

The above may be correct but needs to be a bit more clear. He is probably talking about worst case (i.e. on a windless cloudy winters day). For the past year wind has averaged 9.04GW at 25.5% of our generation. This is average per day (I believe). But this does not help when there is no wind. So I would change the above statement to:

they assume you can get 4.5GW (every day) from the renewables fleet – the true figure must be close to zero (worst case).

So we need to have expensive backup and this makes renewables much more expensive than the mad-marxists tell us.

What a truly pathetic article. They are so desperate to put Trump down, they’ve put the case and their verdict in the headline !. These authors have one aim : to defend Kamala and try to denegrade Trump.

They got the word ‘false’ in there 5 times. Yet if you see amny of the other reports on youtube, the handling of the whole disaster has absolutely atrocious. For example, I just heard one recording from a FEMA meeting from someone in the LGBT community saying they should get special help because it is compounding all the troubles thay have to deal with and a natural disaster at the same time !!!!.

The whole article is written like it was done by spiteful children. And ‘BBC Verify’ being what it is, this time it was !. Here they are. The two ‘BBC Verify’ heavyweights who tried hard to disprove the letter of what Trump said while the spirit of what he said went right over their heads.

      Morning JC,
I read the article and the argument seems to be that President Trump and harris spent equal amounts on matters regarding immigration and the porous border. It’s actually true :-

President Trump spent $Bxxx on border forces and returning the unwanted.
Harris also spent $Bxxx, on making the invaders welcome and handing out an endless flow of goodies to parasites who deserve absolutely nothing.

On GB News they are reporting that 75% of terrorists are Islamic and the other 25% are far right.

I don’t agree with these numbers.

When was the last time a bomb went off that was caused by the far right. I can’t remember any yet all too often we get bombs going off in children’s pop concerts or similar typical terrorist targets (easy victims, women and children) and it’s always the usual ones doing this.

MI5 say they’ve foiled 20 Iran based serious terrorist plots in the last two years.

When all the brainwashed kiddies with their flags and chants are protesting against Israel I don’t know of any bomb attack (or anything else) happening here caused by Israel yet it’s common for the usual bombers to do their bombing.

Not only the UK. Recently Russia (Moscow) was bombed and we all know of the Charlie Hebdo massacre. Everywhere these things are happening and it’s always the same lot.
    It’s never the ‘far right’

If they say 25% of their work against terrorism is against the far right are they putting leaving a packet of bacon near the halal fridge in a supermarket as an equal to blowing up 22 kiddies at a pop concert with Ariane Grande.

That 25% figure is totally bogus, totally political.

Or, it might mean they spend (waste) 25% of their time and resources looking for fictitious ‘far-right’ groups to investigate, persecute and prosecute.
In which case, it might be accurate.
