Defund the BBC! You know it makes sense. 😉

Give up the TellyTax for Lent. 😉 🙂 🙂 🙂

The BBC are biased against President Trump and also biased against Israel. The BBC appear to be very biased in favour of Islam, Hamas, Hezbollah, Fatah and the Houthis.

Goal hanging paid off for me this time, n-lp. 🙂 I agree on giving up the TellyTax forever. April 2025 will mark the twentieth Anniversary of my giving up the Licence Fee. I have saved or not spent over £3,000 in 20 years at the latest LF rates. 🙂

BBC recruitment is out of control. Why should I pay for Sarah Smith to be idle or for the Montacuties long weekends? Also for the excessive over-manning on the TOADY Programme? I can remember when it was Jack de Manio and, I think, one other presenter. Then there were four and now it’s six!

Have a good weekend everyone! Don’t worry about war, war, war.

Correction thanks to Wiki. Jack de Manio presented TODAY alone.

And thanks to other research there are four floating presenters on TODAY plus the four regulars. That makes eight to present ONE programme! That is a lot of time off air. Can the BBC afford it? Probably not.

Brissles my dear old thing, well it will be the cricket season soon, thank you for your congratulations.

BBC are sending letters again to say my property is Unlicenced.
Can’t argue with that, it isn’t licenced.

But then BBC properties are unlicensed. They haven’t got firearms licence or licence from the UN Sea Bed Authority to extract minerals at their premises.

And I haven’t pestered them about it.

Well here’s the deal BBC, you get a licence you don’t need and I’ll get a licence I don’t need _ your telly tax thing, and we’ll be happy.

I haven’t paid the LF for years and they still send me a monthly letter. It can be anyone of about six standard letters they have all carrying a threat of some sort or other and all saying that you are under investigation and that one of their agents may call at any time of day. One of the letters says that they will visit on a specific day.
I did have one visit three or four years ago. The chap said he was from the TV Licence and could he come in. I said no . He said that I didn’t have a Licence , I said I didn’t need one . He handed me a leaflet and left. The entire exchange lasted about a minute.

Just watched two episodes of ‘First among equals’ on YouTube – a tip-off for seeing as mentioned by Fed, Lucy and Brissles during the week!

Pretty damned good, especially as it’s nearly forty years old, and sadly, there’s only one main actor with us these days!

I agree that the ads every ten minutes are annoying, but one needs to top up one’s glass on occasions, so those few seconds help that important interlude!

Of course, it was produced by an independent company, Granada. I could have sworn that one of our chums here mentioned an alternative browser for watching without ads, and his post seems to have vanished! Was it ‘Brave’?

King Charles III a Moslem? It might explain a few things. A lack of action on grooming gangs, illegal immigration, Islamic terrorism, BBC pro Islamic bias.
He’s been King only a short while but he might well have been banging the Islamic drum for many years under QEII. Although he may not be an actual convert he is almost certainly very sympathetic to Islam, it’s easy to underestimate the influence of the Monarchy, if Charles, even when he was Prince made approaches to the media, Police, Military etc to make his views known, you can be sure they will act on it. In any event he’s turning out to be the most Woke-useless Monarch ever.

What a surprise…one….an ex-senior BBC bod advising Ofcom, lol, and a Muslim in such influential positions…careful what you wish for….the irony that implementing diversity policies in fact empowers those who want anything but that….

‘Campaigners call for Aaqil Ahmed to be removed from role with broadcasting watchdog over social media posts

An Ofcom adviser who accused Israel of genocide in Gaza and espoused “conspiratorial fantasies” about Jews should be removed from the broadcasting watchdog, campaigners have said.

Aaqil Ahmed posted on social media that the musician Paul Weller was “spot on” when he said “we cannot let genocide be a legitimate thing” during a Gig for Gaza concert last year.

The former head of religion at the BBC also wrote on X that Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli prime minister, had “hijacked” the Middle East and “every European capital”.’

‘Bulgarians guilty of spying for Russia in the UK’

After the Berlin Wall fell Britain was flooded with more Russian spies than when the Soviet Union was in place….can’t imagine that dropped off when the borders were opened wide and all and sundry allowed in…all those East Europeans? Russia didn’t slip in afew ringers? Now in many positions of power, inlfuence and able to access not just politics and the media but technology, industry and science as well….not forgetting the Chinese who undoubtedly came over when Boris opened the door to potentially 3 million in Hong Kong…do you think the Chinese didn’t see an opportunity? And then there’s our Muslim communities whose loyalty is to Islam first.

Odd how the BBC uses such accusations to damn Trump when they spent years cheering on Corbyn….even praising him during the election for his ‘principles’ and for, allegedly, being the only person to stick to their convictions…except of course he blatanly and cyncially dumped them after the Manchester arena bombing when suddenly he was telling the world how important the police and security services were…when previously he campaigned to get rid of them.

I am sick to the back teeth of the BBC adding their own opinions or sneering criticisms of Trump throughout all reports they make now.

‘Trump ‘strongly considering’ large-scale sanctions and tariffs on Russia’
    https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c36wkpy3497o

The real story here is that Trump is trying to force both sides to the negotiating table to stop the war. He should be getting 100% support from everybody – but it seems the only thing the BBC are interested in is sniping at any small detail they can to contradict him and attempt to discredit him at every opportunity.

I remember when he said he would stop the war before he was elected. They only comment the BBC could make was how he didn’t say how he would stop it. Well now they know. He just announced sanctions against Russia. What do the BBC say ?.
‘He did not provide any details as to how such sanctions and tariffs against Russia may work.’
Why the f*ck should he BBC ?. He doesn’t answer to you.

Then they remind us Trump stopped military aid on Tuesday. As usual, they give us no context or background. The reason was that :
‘Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform, accusing Zelenskyy of not wanting to end the war for “as long he has America’s backing”.’ after Zelensky said ‘the end of the Ukraine war “is still very, very far away”.
‘The pause will persist until Ukraine displays a commitment to peace negotiations with Russia’
None of which is reported by the BBC.

The only thing the BBC DO say about it is:
‘It is not clear if this enabled Russia’s large-scale missile and drone attack on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure on Thursday night.’
What ??. A pause announced on Tuesday enabled a drone attack on Thursday ?. Do the BBC think the missiles are delivered every day to the Ukranian front lines by DHL ?. And why would any shipments enable or disable these attacks by Russia ?. They do them regularly.
Of course the BBC know that and they wrote ‘it not clear if’ which actually means ‘we have no idea if’ but they said it anyway in a classic BBC ‘lie by inference’.

It’s an apalling article trying it’s hardest to snipe at Trump at every opportunity. They write:
‘Since coming into office, he has praised Russian President Vladimir Putin and blamed Ukraine’s leader for not wanting peace with Russia.’
What does ‘praised Putin’ mean BBC ?. Why not give us the context ?. It could mean anything at all.
And it’s crystal clear the Zelensky wants whatever his masters want so he can keep the money coming in. The poor little lying idiot is making a complete fool of himself as he is pulled between the EU wanting to keep the war going and Trump holding all the cards wanting to stop it. I find the respect given to Zelensky to be quite sick. He is never picked up by the BBC for HIS lies.

And the BBC round off this article with:
‘So far, Vladimir Putin has played a clever hand, sitting back and doubtless enjoying watching the transatlantic alliance come apart at the seams.
Compared to that gain, the threat of US tariffs is unlikely to bother him unduly.’

Since when are the BBC supposed to put their own biased opinions like that in articles of such gravity ?.

Shame on you Frank Gardner and Tom Bennet.
Frank Gardner: ‘As seen in: BBC, The Guardian, BBC News, BBC News Brasil, MSN (US), MSN Australia, MSN Singapore, The Telegraph, Yahoo Canada, Yahoo News’
Tom Bennet: ‘As seen in: BBC, BBC News, MSN (US), The Independent, Yahoo Canada, Yahoo News’

This article from the BBC – and many others like it – are nothing less than subtle nudges inciting people to hate Trump. They are the reason we see such extreme hate and spite from the Lefties on any forums and HYS. I NEVER see such vitriole from the Right.

US President Donald Trump has said he is “strongly considering large-scale sanctions” and tariffs on Russia until a ceasefire and peace deal with Ukraine is reached.

I think the issue might be somewhat more nuanced than…Trump wants peace = good, anyone who takes issue with his approach = wants war.

If a Presidential candidate says they will end the war in 24 hours, seems fair to ask how, or point out that no answer on that is forthcoming. Hardly sniping.

His plan to end the war was….sanctions against Russia!? If only someone had thought of this before!

Trump suggested ‘Banking Sanctions, Sanctions and Tariffs’.
Putting aside that Banking Sanctions are Sanctions…..there can’t be many banking sanctions available that haven’t already been applied to Russia.

U.S. total goods trade with Russia were an estimated $3.5 billion in 2024. So tariffs would make little impact.

Almost smells like bullshit doesn’t it?

      John Bolton explains it here:

Trump’s ending of military aid to Ukraine included air defence systems. Also, U.S. intelligence sharing with Ukraine had allowed Kyiv to give warnings to targeted areas ahead of Russian drone and missile strikes, tracking Russian aircraft taking off, drones being launched and missiles being fired. So, yes, entirely possible.

Asked whether the Russian leader was taking advantage of the pause in US intelligence sharing and military aid to Ukraine, Trump replied: “I actually think he is doing what anybody else would do.”

If you’re not aware of Trump praising Putin, you can’t have been following.

I think the problem here is with the reader, not the article.

I have to say that Katie always reflects my own thoughts on what is going on but expresses it far more concisely and eloquently.

That video is simple common sense to me.

This is the general tone of how the BBC report her:
‘Far-right British commentator Katie Hopkins has been sent home from Australia for bragging about flouting hotel quarantine rules.’

Then for no reason whatsoever in that article, they write:
‘Ms Hopkins, a favourite of ex-US President Donald Trump, has called migrants “cockroaches” and described Islam as “repugnant”.’

It never cease to amaze me just how bitter and full of spiteful hate the BBC (and the Left in general) are. Luckily for them, OFCOM are the same.

I’ve been trying to work out what is going on with the Reform Party.
It seems a dreadful mess and I’ve been over You Tube today and it seems among the membership there are two camps evenly divided pro-Farage and pro-Lowe. The one thing they are united on is that they really want the Party to continue.
It seems inconceivable that a party with only five MPs which is doing so well at the moment should suddenly self-destruct.
I have mixed feelings as I have been posting on here for years that Farage is not a particularly good party leader, rather he is is an excellent campaigner. As leader he thinks he can make and even change policy on the hoof and gets riled at anybody who doesn’t accept this without question. This can be very off-putting as was his support for Shamima Begum to be allowed back into Britain.
He has a tendency to fail to think things through. A bit of a loose cannon.
Having said that I ask myself what the hell is Richard Lowe doing giving Reform’s opponents all they wanted with that disgusting interview in the Daily Mail of all places. Does he want to be leader? He’s proved his potential to be a great MP but has he fallen to the same vanity that Ron Desantis had in the US when he thought he was ready to replace Trump? That worked out well for him didn’t it? Or is Lowe just another Carswell?
Yes, Lowe has some genuine concerns but to do this to his own party just as the by-election for Runcorn and Helsby will be called which presented Reform with the possibility of a win and another MP is willful destruction to Reforms prospects and thousands of members will see all their work has been for nothing.
To make matters worse, Zia Yousef calls in the police. How pathetic is that? What a pansy! What a circus!
Their needs to be a strong sensible action within Reform urgently otherwise the party is lost. Hopefully a new chairman who understands politics and internal party strategy.
Suella Braverman and others are not going to defect now.
Repair the damage Reform and stop being so stupid.

      Agree 100%.
Reform must demonstrate unity. No one gets everything they want in politics and having Reform strongly influencing British life is far better than not having them , no matter how imperfect or ideologically impure they may be. Lowe needs to grow up and voice his opinions in private and fight from within.
A split in Reform will be ruthlessly exploited by the Globalists and Reform is our best hope of preventing the complete destruction of our country.

There has been speculation that King Charles has converted to Islam. The obvious test would be to offer him some pork sausages , Duchy brand of course.
Personally, I don’t believe that he has but if he has then he must be removed although I’m not sure William will be a big improvement. I’m certain that the whole nation still mourns the death of the Queen.
I was a strong royalist though out the Queen’s reign. I was worried about what Charles would do as King and those worries have proven to be well founded. His latest escapades with Islam in Windsor castle have convinced me that he isn’t fit to be King and that he is in lock step with the Globalist planned destruction of our country.
My advice to President Trump would be to have far too busy a diary to ever be able to squeeze in a visit to the UK. Charles will be a bitter opponent of the MAGA movement and will be doing all he can to undermine the President.

For instance – I saw one aimed at me yesterday saying ‘Starmer steps down ‘ … instantly knowing this was a teaser I didn’t bother – but it encourages caution – which is a good thing ….
Elsewhere – Fox News is highlighting the plight of the democrats – who have no leadership – policies – or anything other that TDS and general hatred – as seen at the Trump congress address .
They’ve backed themselves into an ‘anti ‘ corner – cuts to government waste – common sense – is just outlawed by the democrats .

I was looking for parallels in the dead blue party … but got distracted by the Reform nonsense . A Muslim reform leader ? Reform is dead to me – and the promise / hope of the next election – for reform – is gone . Maybe a sane British party will turn up soon .. but I doubt it . More and more I think Britain will explode …. 77 brigade to file …

If I am repeating myself forgive me, but since the start of the year the bBC have been running the line in economic reports that the consensus of economists is that inflation will peak at 3% and that there will be three further cuts to interest rates. To me this sounds like the jam in the middle of the sandwich. One slice is the Treasury and the other slice is their in house economists and the output is a completely unattributable opinion of ‘consensus’.
On three occasions this year the bBC economic reports have been ‘surprised’. December sales falling by 2.2%, GDP absolutely flat, and inflation increasing.
I am not an economist but on 1 April Rachel in accounts is adding 25bn of cost to industry pa and the minimum wage is increasing at around 7% (plus knock on). The minimum wage is substantially bigger than the NI, and the bBC economists are unable to see the link between that and the impossible task of inflation peaking at a consensus 3% (and knock on effects on interest rates). How long before they are surprised again.
The only surprise to me would be to find out that the bBC economists did not collectively study at the University of Stalingrad.

Pensions will be taxed more … and I still wonder whether she will increase Income Tax – either directly or through the allowances …

When all else fails to fill the columns there’s always the weather.

Take a pic of a pretty girl or girls… photographed in some form of natural soundings outdoors of course… think of some proverbial exotic overseas holiday locale and claim it’s warmer here than it is there today (you’ve a fair degree of licence there ‘cos no one is ever likely to check).

On the journalistic evolutionary scale weather reporting is still about as nuanced and advanced as that scene in 2001: A Space Odyssey where the primitive apeman first picks up a bone to use as a tool.

The dodgy dossier that is the Daily Express (“Campaigning for a better Britain” at ÂŁ2.40 a pop) serves us a materclass – deploying some classic opposable thumb reporting this bright March morning: Blooming lovely! Britain warmer than Costas in 20C spring sun – the accompanying image of a pair of smiley young ladies snapped among the daffodils catches them taking a selfie – a nice modern touch and somewhat ‘meta’ as the kids might say.

Who was taking the pic of the girls taking a pic of themselves? No photo credit is apparent.

Our BBC phones it in, so to speak, with an Elizabeth Rizzini report headlined: Warm sunshine for UK this weekend but will it last? – bravely risking the needlessness engendered by Betteridge’s law of headlines (Any headline that ends in a question mark can be answered by the word NO)

…it’s best not to pack away the winter wardrobe quite yet – next week temperatures are set to drop. (BBC)

“It’s Turned Out Nice Again” was the cheery catchphrase of cheeky vintage performer George Formby.

Still, it gives our BBC the chance to link to their prior report: Spring is “fastest-warming” season in the UK… New analysis shows… a climate research organisation, has found that all four seasons are warming but at different rates… First frogspawn of year spotted in Isle of Scilly (BBC)

Then there was that old Morecambe And Wise line: Two old men are sitting in deckchairs. One says to the other, “It’s nice out, isn’t it?” The other one replies, “Yes it is… I think I’ll take mine out.”

Our jokey blokey Daily Star updates the implied knob gag for the modern audience by borrowing from antipodean low humour: Budgie smugglers at the ready… Hotter than Ibiza… Here come the grills… it’s going to be a sizzler! Brits will bask in 20C this weekend – hotter than Ibiza. It’ll be the dog’s Balearics for sunlovers… Full story pages 4-5

A trademark Daily Star psycho seagull pinches a sausage from a nerdy-looking chap’s barbecue to complete the picture.

Oh, and by the way… and finally… there’s a lot of regime-sponsored anti-Russia propaganda in our media this weekend.

Fed, ah but yes but no but …. there’s always Amol Rajan on TOADY.

The regular line-up is Emma Barnett, Justin Webb, Rick Nobinson and Amol Rajan. Since the retirement of the Humph and the shuffling off of noxious Naughtie to do other Beeb presenting, they draft in Katya Adler, Simon Jack or Jonny Dymond or that foreign sounding bird, sorry, cannot remember her name. So that’s four floaters plus four regulars. That’s quite a line-up.

As I post above I can remember when it was Jack de Manio alone. Correction thanks to Wiki. I must have been thinking of Brian Redhead and John Timpson in the 1970s, the two presenters on TODAY. Thanks to Wiki again for this Timpson quote “Timpson had been critical of the content, style and professionalism of Today; describing it once as “not so much a programme, more a way of telling the time” and being filled with “eccentric octogenarians, prize pumpkins, and folk who ate lightbulbs and spiders”.

Poor? They earn mouth watering salaries, especially if employed by the BBC, except for the freelancers. The freelancers do have it tough. But Jonny Dymond was hand-wringing for the telly sector this morning and saying how tough it all was for them. It is a competitive field now that Netflix and others have muscled in to the sector. The BBC should compete but is handicapped by the Licence Fee. Solution? Scrap or drastically reduce the TellyTax?

Small snippet from Denis Healey’s Wiki piece…

“After Labour’s victory at the 1964 election, he was appointed to the Cabinet by Prime Minister Harold Wilson as Defence Secretary; he held this role until Labour’s defeat at the 1970 election, making him the longest-serving Secretary of State for Defence to date. When Labour returned to power after the 1974 election, Wilson appointed Healey Chancellor of the Exchequer. He stood for the leadership of the Labour Party in the election to replace Wilson in March 1976, but lost to James Callaghan; Callaghan retained Healey as Chancellor in his new government. During his time as Chancellor, Healey notably sought out an international loan from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for the British economy, which imposed external conditions on public spending.”
