After years of ‘quota based’ recruitment, it has become clear to me that the modern BBC is now bereft of creative talent. All their TV series which used to be fresh and exciting (like Death in Paradise, Father Brown etc) have become boring re-hashes with predictable plots more concerned with social engineering than entertainment.
For example, when you see a black person in Father Brown (amazing how many there were in the 50’s !!), you can guarantee some white person will be racist towards them and Father Brown will subsequently comfort them saying only privileged whiteys are racist and they will learn not to be in time.
It’s blatantly obvious that the ‘new staff’ are desperately trying to copy the old material which made it successful – but being witless Lefties, they absolutely fail to realise what the magic ingredient was. All my old BBC (and ITV for that matter) favourites have gone the same way. I can only enjoy watching foreign programs now.
I think that this is why new institutions like Amazon Prime are thriving John. Just recently, I’ve been watching several series from the nineties, and yes, there may be the odd foreign actor in the cast, but the stories of crimes or drama are essentially based on normal percentages of the indigenous race from their country of origin!
It’s what we used to watch before video machines were ‘invented’ for the masses, and so the interest and reality had to be built into the plot/story to retain interest – especially for independent companies who relied on advertising.

The best of what I have seen ‘recently’ has been ‘1883’ which started off as a good old Western romp then gradually disintegrated into a ridiculous farce when the real plot was gradually revealed of making a young girl with yellow hair to be the ‘strong woman’ who outperforms + outwits every whitey sexist male. By some unfathomable logic they all end up intertwined with Indians so they can also push the ‘indigenous people’ agenda to a ridiculous degree. As you would expect, they are all decent and honourable people. Unlike whitey who -apart from the main characters – is universally stupid and selfish.
By the last episode I was gritting my teeth to avoid complaining about it to the wife who is blissfully ignorant of the cynical agenda behind it.
I have the new ‘squid games’ to watch now. It will be interesting to see if that has gone woke. They often do if they get Western funding of a popular first series.
We’ve gone for Jack Reacher ( not the Tom Cruise version ) and SAS Rogue Heroes ( surprisingly quite accurate) , I think it’s the violence that attracts us. Watching explosions and imagining it’s the Houses of Parliament does wonders for your blood pressure.

I watch a diet of Walter Presents on Channel 4 streaming – lots of European dramas without the obligatory Black folks inserted, and have recently binged watch the entire 9 series of Waking the Dead which ended in 2011 ! On iplayer.

We should congratulate the BBC with overcoming a
serious diversity problem. It is impossible for the BBC to
compete with the commercial channels and the companies
who advertise on these channels.
We all know that the 85% indigenous population rush
out to the shops. Or order on line, when they see 70-80% of “diverse”
” inclusive” models advertising products on TV. What was
the BBC to do about this?
OK, having continuity presenters informing us about
the next Gladiators in patois is subliminal. The presentation
of programmes such as the ” One Show” is 100% better now
it is so diverse now. Wouldn’t you agree ? The News Presentation makes you think that you could be watching in
the Indian sub continent , the Caribbean or South east Asia.
We are especially lucky with this in London.
