It had very little agenda and it’s entire premise was a geeky white-male being put into a completely different environment where he was both a detective genius and bumbling fish out of water in equal measures.
Then it changed once it got popular. They did what they always do : they started adding more and more agenda to the ‘free’ audience. And of course the show turned into patronising, BBC woke shit and all the imagination and wit vanished. Then the best characters left and they shoehorned dull, agenda characters in instead.
So what have the BBC done to improve the dire state of this program ?.

The whole point of the show was that the white detective was like a fish out of water, who slowly grew to love the island and the people. Make him black and it no longer makes sense. We think this would be a step towards mass surveillance and digital control, and that no one should be forced to register with a state-controlled ID system. We oppose the creation of any national ID system.
ID cards were scrapped in 2010, in our view for good reason.
On past history, even if 69 million objected, the same message would result:
