Why ‘nudge’?

And due to some cock up – possibly a lorry drivers strike – this was the 1970s – her Christmas failed to arrive and was, essentially, cancelled.
Our national entire Christmas order is delivered by huge container ship from China. So, you have to understand we daren’t risk cancelling that.
