Start the Week 20th October 2025

For those of a royal bent the big distraction this week will be a book by deceased ‘close acquaintance ‘ of prince andrew . Will the BBC default to its ‘respect ‘ for the Royals? Or go hard for him and his family?Meanwhile the ‘king?’ Will be going to the Vatican to ‘pray with the Pope ‘… really .

“Mr Garcha is continuing his questioning of Mr Majek and we heard Mr Majek went outside the hotel for a while to have a smoke and he spoke to a security guard in Arabic briefly before returning to the dining area. He is then asked why he was seen on CCTV footage leaving the hotel again at about 23:00. Mr Majek accepted the person in the footage was him, but said he said he had no interaction with Ms Whyte or her colleague on the front desk when he left.
He said he had left the hotel to smoke again and did not know Ms Whyte was leaving to get the train home.”

Folk can resort to Grok for a variety of reasons… clarity, confirmation or casting doubt.

In any of these functions it can be… erratic and at best a direction to follow.

Terrorists thrive where unchecked extremism festers, including Israel’s borders and disputed West Bank territories—Hamas operatives embed among civilians, while fringe settler groups like Hilltop Youth have perpetrated attacks labeled terrorism by Israeli courts. Witness claims alone, as in this BBC piece, demand video or multi-source verification to counter narrative bias. OFCOM scrutiny could expose if it’s journalism or advocacy.

Here it raises doubts on BBC standards of journalism but also leaves things open, but not much. It hints at a key aspect… how is a masked assailant to be confirmed as a member of one group or other?

This of course applies to a variety of violent or alleged violent collections, from Jan 6 protestors to Antifa petrol bombers.

Reading the full BBC story linked, that has not become apparent, despite being updated 3 hrs ago.

Tom Bennett, in Jerusalem, and Alaa Daraghme, in Ramallah, occupied West Bank appeared to be relying on a 3rd party (whose google offers pages of this story and several outlets hardly encouraging), whose testimony also does not confirm who the assailant is. They may wish to pointlessly correct the headline on this basis, as OFCOM again does nothing.

They might also wish to not ask about these two sentences:

“The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) told the BBC the confrontation was dispersed after its forces arrived, and that it “strongly condemns any form of violence” by settlers.”

“He said Israeli soldiers had been on-site prior to the attack and had “lured” him and others into an “ambush”. He said soldiers “sped off” just before the settlers launched the assault. The BBC has put this specific allegation to the IDF.”

That is a semantic, irrelevant repetition conflating a bunch of accounts.

en-year-old Palestinian boy shot dead by Israeli forces in West Bank

Big guns.Yolande Knell, Middle East correspondent, Reporting fromJerusalem and Jacob Evans, BBC World Service, Reporting fromJerusalem

    From… Jerusalem.

“A 10-year-old Palestinian boy has been killed by Israeli forces in a village south of Hebron in the occupied West Bank. The Israeli military says its soldiers opened fire on Thursday in response to “confrontations and rock-hurling” directed at them. “Residents of al-Rihiya say that Muhammad al-Hallaq and his friends had been playing football in a local schoolyard when they saw Israeli military vehicles and began to run.”

    Uh huh.

Maybe OFCOM might ask the BBC to ask ‘resident’ why kids were either ‘just playing’ or ‘hurling rocks’ before hitting BBC AI Hamas edit on editorial?

His deal on the 30-room mansion means he has only ever paid a token annual rent – and even that might not be required under the terms of his lease.
