Understanding the hackneyed, but extremely relevant comments about all seriously employed citizens having to get up early to go to work, to pay for the feckless, feral lives of the skivers and the illegals in the UK, the same argument applies to all the ‘seal-clappers’ who dish out 175 quid for untruthful garbage from the state broadcaster, so that the same mental lightweights can watch their day-time trash for free?
Even that little fact alone must be worth several thousand cancelled direct debits, and a good job too!

One of the BBC defences in a Trump v BBC defamation action is the limited propagation of the offending broadcast, in other words not many Americans saw or heard it. I can make a comment based on my direct experience of a defamation claim brought by me and served on an American based multinational and their magic circle Solicitors.
One of the issues in my case was the limited publication of the offending communication. My Solicitor argued, most importantly, was the lack of control over the dispersal of the libel once it had been published a received by a number of recipients. The other very important factor was the seriousness of the libel, what the effect of the libel would have if it were to become known to someone important like one’s Bank. The other issue would be the potential for blackmail, probably not relevant in the BBC, Trump case.
1) For lack of control of re-publication, this would be massive for Trump, everyone has the Internet or someone that uses it.
2) For seriousness:
a) Consider what the impact of it becoming common knowledge to the public that the BBC are saying Trump killed five people by encouraging a riot.
b) The effect it would have on a Presidential election.
c) Trump is a businessman what effect it could have on his businesses?
d) Trump is a media star, would his career be curtailed?
e) There could have been criminal or Civil sanctions brought against him
In short it’s a very serious libel indeed.
Flotsam – thanks for that disclosure – the consequences of the edit couldn’t be more serious – on a number of levels – firstly the immediate link to the ‘disorder ‘ at the Capitol – then the ‘image ‘ of 47 as a law breaker – incitement to violence ….
But let me put that to context – I spent maybe 8 years studying law . I can argue for either side . The BBC side will be based on the edit having no effect on the result of the election – and linked to other words used by 47 at that time …
But how will a republican florida jury see that ? 47s legal team will empathise that this was a foreign state agency trying to influence an American election for its ‘ own far left motivation …and then it will add the ‘Newsnight ‘ incident to show it wasn’t a ‘one off ‘ ….
I’ve heard the argument that the BBC has a strong case – that Americans didn’t see the speech – that 47 was elected anyway – that the 47 image wasn’t harmed – but I reckon those lines won’t play out with a Florida jury …
How does this pan out ? Ordinarily – based on the track record of other cases – 47 settles – but this is the first foreign broadcaster with a very high status and strong global image …plus there’s the politics …
I’d be surprised if the BBC can rely on only one view of the impact of releasing this doctored video. Of course, it matters that President Trump was elected even after this scandalous BBC behaviour – but who knows what the impact of the release actually was – he may have won by a bigger majority in each house in the US government, and therefore have been caused much less hassle by the Democrats at every turn since his election. This was not just an on-off type of event – there were multiple possible impacts and results.
It is quite extraordinary how BBC employees just don’t get it….they have done enormous damage to the BBC and laugh…it’s all a big joke…and then they double down.
The Naked Week is probably now evidence against the BBC…it literally proclaimed Trump deliberately incited violence and that he is a paedophile alongside Epstein.
Laughably they said they’d love to help the BBC in its legal quagmire…..nice way to do that….push them deeper into it. The BBC has lost all control over its staff…but then again those at the top are no better given Davie and Turness and Shah all proclaim there is no ‘institutional bias’.
And of course there’s the non-apology which actually still made the claim that Trump incited violence….by magical indirect and stealth means….the BBC says it was an errror of judgment to suggest he directly, or explicitly, incited violence…so he did it ‘indirectly’ then?…why did they not say ‘We mistakenly suggested he incited violence…’…big difference when you miss out ‘directly’ or ‘explicitly’.
The BBC claims that the Panorama[and presumbaly now the Newsnight] snip was intended to show the broad message of Trump’s speech’….er….what? So they edited it to appear he encouraged violence in order to show he intended violence? How is that ‘unintentional’? That is an admission that they did intend to say Trump encouraged violence.
This mindset is deeply, deeply embedded in so many of the staff….the only way to stop it is to rip the BBC apart and recruit fresh faces and fresh minds….and train and supervise rigorously in a way that obviously isn’t being done now.

Just reading their latest front-page fiction on this Trump edit. What’s interesting is spotting where they put out a consistent lie : those are the clearly direct from the lawyers and staff have been told exactly what they can and cannot say.

Having read on this site that nothing on the BBC happens by chance, I believe it. I no longer watch Strictly. But the Daily Mail has an article that one of the contestants dedicated his dance tonight to his Mum who has cancer. I assume the lady has known about her illness longer than this series has been showing. Not for the lady, but for the producers of the show, how wonderful to have a contestant with a good story to produce lots of positive imagery, especially this week. Is the man someone whose popularity in the show was flagging last week, I have no idea. But the whole of Strictly is manipulated, from the choice of music, choice of clothes and even which clip they show during the reprise (good if they want to keep you and a slip up if they want you gone).

The BBC’s whole reason for existence is that they are better than the rest,…absolutely impartial, accurate, honest, truthful…willing to speak truth to Power and holding it to account…which justifies why it can be funded by a licence fee. If it fails to do that then there is no justification for the licence fee and so far that is the situation.

The UK Health Security Agency is ‘covering up’ links between the Covid jab and excess deaths because it could cause bereaved relatives “distress or anger”. Public health officials claim that they are so ‘caring and loving’ that publishing the data risked damaging the well-being and mental health of the families and friends of people who were killed by the Jab, including my Dad, my Mum, the Queen and Philip.
The data which maps the date of people’s Covid vaccine doses to the date of their deaths has been released to the pharmaceutical companies, but not put into the public domain due to the risk of individuals like my mother, father and members of the Royal family being identified, which could result in significant distress to me and my sisters. The ‘caring and loving’ officials claim that the distress could be far greater than their deaths and funerals.
UsForThem, a campaign group, requested that UKHSA release the data under freedom of information laws. But the agency refused, saying that publishing the data would “have an adverse impact on vaccine uptake”. After a two-year battle, the Information Commissioner ruled in the UKHSA’s favour.
Reform UK is committed to a public inquiry into excess deaths and the Covid vaccine. Richard Tice, the party’s deputy leader, said: “We knew there was concern about excess deaths, which is why we called for an inquiry. Instead, the unelected quango UKHSA is involved in a scandalous cover-up of how and why people are dying,” “This is totally unacceptable, and the Health Secretary must overrule them. If we are not prepared to learn lessons about why people are dying, what sort of society are we?” “It is perverse for UKHSA to argue that this data should not be released because the public could feel distressed or angry if patterns or correlations were to be identified,” “the public are considered incapable of handling this data.
