During the festive season and in a stupor (boredom – drunken – sleep deprived, take your pick). I watched 2 films made roughly 30 years apart. A Time to Kill and The 2nd Best Marigold Hotel (dont judge me).

Both were judicially altered to prevent offence.
The first – in the original I remember, it graphically showed a young girl being savagely attacked – though distressing was the premise to the film. The version I saw omitted the little girl so no attack was seen – only the insinuation.

The Marigold Hotel is barely 10 years old yet the humurous words of the character played by Maggie Smith were scrubbed and replaced with a bland alternative.. the words ? (She was referring to tea made the Americans) ” tepid witch’es piss” became ‘tepid nonsense”.

If a gentle and humorous film like Marigold – about pensioners, is subject to censorship then all humour is done for.

@Brissles This is one of the reasons we constantly add to our DVDs collection, we’re now finding many have warnings before they start but are generally intact. We particularly love the original version of the Dambusters and fast forward through the WarnerBrothers cartoons collection which has Whoopi Goldberg pontificating about racism in cartoons. Agree with you that humour is fast swirling down the plug hole of life.

One thing is emerging clearly since Trump, Musk and independent journalists started delving into US AID, Somali Daycare etc, is that most charities and foreign aid agencies are either fraudulent or politicised (always to the left) or both. I’m sure the same applies to our UK charities and overseas aid programmes.

Danger to life as snow blizzard about to hit, shouts the headlines.

Not just the BBC news, all the tabloids.

Reality is Northern Scotland, which is largely uninhabited, West Wales and Northern Ireland have usual wintry weather for January, some snow. Remote schools closed.
80% of the UK have a bit of ice and frost. I’ve just looked out the window and the roads are clear. Then again I’m in the South, but it is minus 4 at the moment.
Hope you can afford the heating.

Chris Mason: Starmer’s strategy of avoiding criticising Trump over Maduro
    https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cr4kr7r9ew2o

The BBC are clearly getting desperate. Now – against all their rules – they are printing their biased viewpoint as opinion pieces.

They are clearly very upset that Two-Tier-Queer Starmer is not speaking out about their ‘bette noir’ Trump.

Note the headline : directly inferring Trump SHOULD be criticised but Starmer is avoiding it.

‘In a social media post, he talked about “a transition of power” in Venezuela being something the UK had long supported.
But what about how it was brought about?
His answers, or lack of them, are the latest case study in No 10’s handling strategy of a maverick US president: don’t commentate, act in what they believe is a pragmatic, sober way and have discussions in private.’

‘To do so, he calculated, would risk ongoing public spats with not just the most powerful man on the planet, but someone with near zero compunction when it comes to spectacularly falling out with people.
Better, instead, Sir Keir concluded, to be cautious and revere the upsides of a decent relationship with the White House, something the prime minister is proud to have secured.’

Clearly the BBC cannot read between the lines and realise what Trump actually thinks about Starmer. Or they can but are lying to the public yet again. We are regularly used in the USA as examples of what happens when far-Left fascists take power.

What an apalling piece by the BBC about the duly elected President of the USA. I thought they were not supposed to use their massive, publically funded empire to spread their own political opinions ?.

This article has been presented as an opinion piece by one of their own staff. But of course we all know they would never dare do that without being told to by the BBC’s political direction team and their lawyers. It’s crystal clear to me that they are alarmed that this event is not being used to attack Trump enough so they are pushing their red-lines yet again.

Where are you this time OFCOM ?.

Trump is not rushing into elections in Venezuella and wants to stabilise the country first…and this, judging by the BBC’s intonation, is a very bad thing…probably the baddest thing ever….he’s leaving in place and dealing with so many baddies from the old regime.

Hmmm…seem to remember the BBC’s big criticism of post Iraq War was the complete annihilation and dismissal of all those who ran Iraq including the security services and army…thus plunging the country into chaos and more war.

Looks like Donald has learnt and is intent on keeping the country under some sort of control until it is ready for its new existence.

Oddly the BBC is now against that.

Preserving personal freedoms where possible edition

I think quite often journalists put new health tips out there simply to amuse themselves as a wind up…

Ease achy knees… by walking backwards! (the ever-excitable Daily Mail)

I’m inevitably put in mind of Monty Python’s Ministry of Silly Walks.

Speaking of which… sometimes these segueways write themselves…

Ed Miliband’s Ministry of Silly… :Electric car discounts are unsustainable, warns industry group… sales were still not increasing fast enough to meet official targets, he said, warning of a growing gap between consumer demand and the government’s ambitions. (the presciently monikered BBC bod Theo Leggett, Business Correspondent) – soon we’ll all be taking Shanks’s pony and having to leggit to work – or not as the case may be: More than 340 schools closed as snow brings disruption (BBC)

Over-70s face driving ban for failing new eyesight test… Local Transport Minister Lillian Greenwood pledges that strategy ‘would preserve personal freedoms where possible…’ (i paper)

Lillian Greenwood…? Some more aptronymic action there. Ah, gotta love our Labour government – preserving personal freedoms… where possible

So the government will force a few more cars off the road – because of superannuated blind as a bat reckless boy racers.

Proposals follow coroner’s report warning that legal eyesight standards for older drivers were ‘ineffective and unsafe’ after deaths of four people (i paper) – meanwhile illegal migrants have murdered a few people but the government hasn’t seen fit to do anything ‘effective and safe’ about that problem. But I digress (and court cheap ‘likes’ hereabouts)

I’m here to attempt to inform opinion rather than simply pander to it – if I may be so bold.

Just recently your Mr AsI highlighted his understanding of our regime and its managerial minions extraordinary attachment to the notion that computers (under the catchy new branding “A.I.” – not a Yorkshireman agreeing with you but artificial intelligence – is somehow to be the cure-all for the problem of the stalled utopia)

Get £1600 a month to do ‘nothing’ – welcome to an AI future where nobody works (left-leaning Independent – ‘our mission is to deliver unbiased, fact-based journalism’)

Now back to the main news headlines…

What now as yet another saviour is sacked… (freebie giveaway Metro) – not the latest leftist hero and martyr Maduro – had you going for a minute there? That’s in fact the failed Man U boss doing a similar perp walk…

I am still smiling (Amorim in the Mirror)
“I am still president” (Maduro on the BBC)

Axed Ruben and wife Maria leave their Cheshire home yesterday (Amorim in the Mirror)
Watch: Nicolás Maduro and wife en route to New York court (Maduro on the BBC)

Man Utd boss Amorim’s brave face after sacking (Mirror)
‘I’m a prisoner of war’ – In the room for Maduro’s dramatic court hearing (BBC)

Let’s not strain this tenuous analogy too far.

When your trophies are nil and you’ve cost 30 mil… that’s Amorim (The Sun)

“Sympathy for the Devil” (1968) is a song by English rock band the Rolling Stones. The song was written by Mick Jagger and credited to the Jagger–Richards partnership.

“I am, sir, Nicolás Maduro. I am president of the Republic of Venezuela and I am here kidnapped since January 3rd,” he told the court in a calm Spanish before an interpreter translated for the court. “I was captured at my home in Caracas, Venezuela… I’m innocent. I’m a decent man,” Maduro said, with Flores adding that she was “completely innocent”… He maintained this calm and expressionless demeanour during the proceedings… Maduro’s wife, Flores, was much quieter, with bandages near her eyes and forehead for injuries her lawyers said she sustained during their weekend arrest. She spoke softly with her blonde hair tied back in a bun while her lawyers asked that she be given proper medical treatment, including an X-ray of potentially bruised ribs and a fracture. (Madeline Halpert, BBC, in court in New York – who gets around to a passing reference to the legal charges: drugs and weapon charges – at around about line seven in her report)

    How about this Greenland issue?

I’m trying to work out how this ven diagram of evil colonialist power and put upon sovereign nation works out? Greenland is a colony administered by Denmark. But for the US to take over that would be colonial. OK, but suppose the locals want to continue under Danish rule? That was the case with the British Falkland Islands – but we’re told that was wrong. People should self-determine, so to speak, under democracy. This Venezuelan chap stole a couple of elections but I’m told he’s still the legitimate president and it’s wrong of Trump to use military force to get him out. Trump is legitimately elected? But it’s right to use military force to keep Zelenski (who we believe was elected more or less fair and square) in power in Ukraine. Confused? You will be.

I wonder what these eye tests for over 70’s drivers will be like.

Do the over 70’s need to have 20/20 perfect eyesight?
Do they need eyes that are exactly the same as they were over 50 years ago with no degradation.
Do they just need normal, average eyesight. Not perfect but adequate.

I smell ulterior motives here whether it’s to get pensioners off the road and using busses (if available where they are) or raising insurances, maybe other reasons.
Is it just some scheme thought up like the breakfast clubs where all children were starving before the ‘free’ breakfasts came along or where some righteous young mp of the “If it saves one life” type thinks it makes them look good. Just like the 20mph limits.

So then, will any allowance be made for elderly drivers, many who totally rely on their car, or is this more control over us.
Will Farage scrap these new eye tests.

The public sector seem to be tasked with immiserating the population while simultaneously remorselessly increasing prices.

Stupid, interminable road closures, woefully signed diversions, reduced parking away from supermarkets and on and on.

The 15 minute city twattery foisted on you if you’re in an area with a really, deeply stupid council.

The DVLA seem very obviously to have been tasked with reducing the mobility of older people – they should be challenged – but the dopes in the media esp. the BBC seem to think that anything emanating from a public body has to be both simply obeyed and cannot be evidenced.

In summary, younger drivers have worse (higher) risk rates per mile driven than older drivers, making them statistically more dangerous in terms of crash likelihood per distance travelled. Older drivers’ figures appear “worse” in raw fatality counts due to greater injury severity from collisions, but exposure-adjusted data shows younger drivers pose the greater per-mile risk. Both groups have elevated rates compared to middle-aged drivers.

In early 2024, a finance worker (not explicitly a secretary) at a multinational firm in Hong Kong was tricked by an AI deepfake video call into transferring over $25 million to scammers.

The Deception: All participants in the video call, except the victim, were AI-generated deepfakes of real people, convincing the employee the request was legitimate. The scammers likely used pre-downloaded video and AI to add fake voices and script the conversation.
The Loss: Believing the instructions were real, the worker made 15 transactions to five different bank accounts, totalling around $25.6 million (or £20.3 million).

Wow Mark, quite coincidentally I was thinking on this subject this morning. We need some tight restrictions on AI. It should be treated as hazardous or high-risk equiptment. All news media banned from using it and subject to routine inspections. News media should be separated entirely from entertainment.

Look at the harm BBC & other media causes just using digital film & sound editing tools. We would be better off with no news at all.

BBC could be broken down to either news or entertainment. No doing both.

I have an additional fleece coat on top of the two gilets and my heating thermostat is set at 12.5 degrees. I’m thinking of putting on fingerless gloves when I go downstairs for another mug of tea.

PS: I do not like winter and am busy doing Richard 111 (?) impressions a la Larry Olivier: “Now is the winter of my discontent.” I discovered a great Bible verse for winter, thanks to Daily Light. It comes from a minor prophet, Micah, in the OT: ‘When I sit in darkness, the Lord shall be a light unto me.’ Ch. 7 v. 8b
Look it up here: https://www.kingjamesbibleonline.org. I do not like the dark of winter or the cold.

PS to the above: I started to feel too warm so I have shed the fleece jacket and the padded gilet from Montain Warehouse. 😉 🙂 And I have turned the thermostat down to 12 degrees.

Target ‘divisive’ Reform in 2026, Keir Starmer tells ministers
    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c150z39e705o

    It’s just beyond belief.

To combat ‘divisive Reform’, Starmer is telling his ministers to go after the party. Not any specific policies or manifesto points – just go after the party.

You don’t get more divisive than that.

Lets see what ‘not divisive’ Starmer has said PERSONALLY against Farage:
‘Spineless: Starmer used this label to describe Farage’s handling of allegations concerning racist and antisemitic behavior during his school years’
Don’t forget this ridiculous charge was from 50 years ago by someone who works for the BBC.

‘Snake oil merchant: During high-profile political speeches in late 2025, Starmer branded Farage a “snake oil merchant”‘

‘Starmer has repeatedly questioned Farage’s love for the country, stating there is “not a patriotic bone in his body” and accusing him of wanting the public to doubt Britain.”

Ahead of the Labour Party conference in 2025, Starmer labeled Farage’s Reform UK party as an “enemy,”‘

‘Starmer accused Farage of “taking people for fools” with his political promises and rhetoric.’

‘During Prime Minister’s Questions (PMQs) in late 2025, Starmer targeted Farage by claiming his party was “riddled with pro-Putin propaganda”‘

No doubt we can expect many more dirty tricks by the Left to put Nigel down.

Who is REALLY the divisive one here ?. It’s Leftist projection on an epic scale.

Government demands Musk’s X deals with ‘appalling’ Grok AI deepfakes
    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/crrn054nxe7o

Here we go – it’s all Musks fault. They even have a weird picture of him so we all associate it directly with him.

So I asked AI which other AI generates the most deepfake pictures. Here’s it’s list:

‘Notable Deepfake AI Models and Tools:
DeepFaceLab: Widely regarded as the industry standard for high-quality deepfakes, it is an open-source tool used for advanced face-swapping and de-aging in both photos and videos.
Stable Diffusion: A powerful open-source diffusion model that allows for extensive customization through community-trained models (LoRAs) to create highly realistic synthetic images.
Midjourney: Known for producing high-resolution, artistic, and cinematic images, it has been used to create viral deepfakes, such as an image of the Pope in a puffer jacket.
Flux 2 (Max and Flex): Developed by Black Forest Labs, these models represent the pinnacle of open-weight image generation in 2026, offering exceptional photorealism and subject consistency.
Seedream 4.5: A recent model from ByteDance that excels at generating high-quality 4K images and is frequently used for fashion and lifestyle-related synthetic content.
FaceApp: A popular consumer-grade app that uses neural networks to apply realistic transformations, such as changing a person’s age, gender, or facial expressions.
FaceFusion: A top choice for seamless face blending and inpainting, often preferred over older tools like Roop for its refined face detection. ‘

Grok isn’t even on the list. So it starts to stink of a BBC manufactured agenda story. Their star-witness is :
‘Dr Daisy Dixon is one of the many female X users who recently started to see people take everyday pictures she had posted of herself on the platform and ask Grok to undress her or sexualise her.
She told the BBC the pictures left her feeling “shocked”, “humiliated” and frightened for her safety.’

So I checked if she was involved with the BBC before this:
‘Dr. Daisy Dixon, a Lecturer in Philosophy at Cardiff University, has several professional and public links with the BBC as of 2026:
Media Commentator and Researcher: Dr. Dixon is an expert in the philosophy of art and has presented her academic research on “immoral artists” and dangerous art on BBC Radio.
New Generation Thinkers (2024): In January 2024, she was a shortlisted candidate for the AHRC/BBC New Generation Thinkers workshop in Manchester. This program is a partnership between the BBC and the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) to bring early-career researchers to a wider audience through BBC Radio 3.
Expert Source on Ecology (2011): Earlier in her career, she provided expert commentary to BBC News Scotland regarding the ecological impact of wildfires on soil quality and bird nesting seasons. ‘

So not a stranger then. I call this story a collaboration hit-piece on Musk.

Mrs Voter recorded the latest version of The Inspector Lindley series as seen through the Blatantly Black pushing Corporation. She watched it this afternoon, my thoughts are as follows:-

    1. Inspector Lyndley as portrayed in the books, toff playing at being a copper. O K so far.
    2. Sergeant Havers, his sidekick, Sub Continental, product of a mixed marriage, White Father Sub Continental mother, her acting was that bad she would have been better off on CBBs
    3. Pathologist, Black female, very strident.
    4. Head of Forensics some guy in a wheelchair, can see him going through a muddy field collecting evidence.

So in one episode ticked all the boxes, couldn’t tell if there was a shit lifter in there, it may come out next week!

This is the World at Sixes and Sevens…

In other news from the bBC, The Minister for Waste, Skrear Starmer has just sold Diane Abbott to the Chagos Islands for some brightly coloured beads and an exhaust pipe for a Ford Escort. Our Motoring Correspondent, Arthur Narg, will be asked to value the beads in February’s mind-shattering episode!

The Weather! Councillor Norman Wibble will explain why the snow in Islington is apparently white! We ask a well-known scientist and rain expert, Euphrates Shagnasty, what exactly happens when the  global warming scam turns out to be an expensive farce!

And finally, Rejemy Crobyn Inc and Emiress Snultana from the newly formed ‘Yer Party’ will be visiting various occupied territories in the UK, to assess the danger to stoats from some sort of vegan affliction!
