Question Time 3rd June 2010

Question Time tonight comes from Brecon, the third largest town in Powys; home to the Gurkha Regiments and birthplace of Roger Glover from Deep Purple.

The Parliamentary seat of Brecon and Radnorshire is represented by LibDem Roger Williams. Williams is a man so successful that he went from LibDem Welsh Spokeweasel before the election to apparently no job afterwards, and his profile page on the main LibDem website gives a PageNotFound error.

On the panel we have David Willetts, Andrew Neil’s favourite chocolate hob-nob Diane Abbott, Plaid’s Leanne Wood, Matthew Parris and Kelvin MacKenzie (again). Wood is only known for her morbid fascination with “wimmins issues” and being the first AM to be thrown out of the Welsh Assembly (for insulting The Queen).

For those playing the Buzzword Bingo, we’ll be invoking the KneeJerk Responses Protocols which means that Gun Control, Israeli Piracy, and BP Oil Slick all merit an extra free roll of the dice. Those with the phrase “Something Must Be Done” on their cards will be handicapped by a pre-game deduction of 50 points, and news that over 1,000 schools have asked to become Academies will only be worth a point if referred to in a negative way.

As usual the LiveBlog will also cover the entertainingly awful This Week, presented as usual by a bewigged and insane bingo caller from Paisley at the twilight of his career.

Once again David Vance, TheEye and David Mosque will be holding back the hordes of barbarians here from 10:30pm.

Question Time 27th May 2010

Question Time tonight comes from Gravesend in Kent, famous mostly for the world’s oldest surviving cast iron pier and being the town where Pocahontas died. The seat of Gravesend is held for the Conservatives by former SAS Captain Adam Holloway.
On the panel we have former Welsh Secretary John Redwood, Liberal Democrat Susan Kramer who lost to Zac Goldsmith in the Richmond Park seat, Alastair Campbell, Piers Morgan and Sir Max Hastings. Piers Morgan is more correctly called ‘Piers Stefan Pughe-Morgan’ if you ask his mother, or ‘Piers Moron’ if you ask any Private Eye reader.

For those playing the Buzzword Bingo, we’ll be trialling the BBC Coalition Undermining Protocols (2010 revision) which means that referring to David Laws as a closet Tory is worth double points and a sell-out traitor gets you 20 credits to spend in the Biased-BBC online shop. As the first question will definitely be an attempt to get John Redwood to criticise Coalition economic policy, players can only nominate “taxes” as their joker together with a named-tax under-card.

As usual the LiveBlog will also cover the entertainingly awful This Week, which will be missing the mad banterists Abbott and Portillo…the sofa will be temporarily relaxing under the less stressful load of David Davis and Hazel Blears. It’ll be Godzilla vs the Chipmunk.

Your re-elected and loyal 1922 Committee is once again TheEye and David Mosque, who have chosen not to have ministerial cars but will be arriving by public transport here at 10:30pm.

Question Time 20th May 2010

The second post-election Question Time comes from Richmond, Surrey.
On the panel tonight we have a line-up positively pulsating with familiarity: Theresa May, Caroline Flint, Ming Campbell, Universal Shami and Douglas Murray from the Centre for Social Cohesion.

For those playing the Buzzword Bingo, we’ll be invoking the “BBC Coalition Attention Distraction Rules” which means that playing your joker on Labour Leadership gets you double points for every lefty nonentity name-checked more than five times. Combining Backtracking with either Europe, Inheritance Tax or Human Rights Act means that you get to pass ‘Go’ but not collect a Married Couples Allowance. Players with Foxhunting can only be trumped by Trident or by using the concealed Lembit Opik gambit.

As usual the LiveBlog will also cover the entertainingly awful This Week, which surely by any measure of impartiality can’t feature newly declared candidate to lead the Labour Party, Diane Abbot…could it?

Dissenting backbenchers aside, your governing coalition will once again be TheEye and David Mosque, who will be dispensing with motorcycle outriders and appearing here from 10:30pm

Question Time 13th May 2010

The first post-election Question Time comes London.
On the panel tonight are Lord Heseltine and Simon Hughes for the Liberals, Lord Falconer for Labour, Melanie Phillips for all those who mistakenly thought they were voting for a right-of-centre government last week, and Mehdi Hasan, who may or may not be an 83 year old ghazal singer from  Karachi.

For those playing the Buzzword Bingo, we’ll be invoking the “BBC Spoiling Agenda rules update of 2010” which means that all attempts to sow discord amongst the new allies win double points. Mentions of Europe are wild, I agree with Nick places you in Nidd for a turn and players who score PR, Inheritance Tax and Trident in a straight line win a ticket to one of Richard Black’s nosebleed-inducingly utterly fair and impartial conferences. Overall game winners receive two tickets and a complimentary sick-bucket.

TheEye and David Mosque are determined to ignore the opinions of their supporters and continue in a Moderating Coalition for a fixed term, which will begin at 10:30pm and finish when This Week ends – or when 55% of Parliament votes to dissolve the liveblog.

Question Time 29th April 2010

Question Time this week comes Birmingham and will be, after a delay for the 10 O’Clock News, broadcast straight after the BBC’s stab at the 3rd Leaders’ Debate. It will be broadcast live so that both the audience and panel are able to comment on it.

On the panel tonight are Schools Secretary Ed “Blinky” Balls, BBC favourite St. Vince “I’ve predicted 17 of the last 2 recessions” Cable, the SNP leader Alex “Not playing with the big boys tonight” Salmond and the broadcaster and journalist Janet Street Porter. Please do not adjust your sets….yes, that really is her voice. As of 6:30pm when I typed this, the identity of the Conservative had not been confirmed.

For those playing B-BBC Buzzword Bingo this week, we’ll be playing by the “Foot In Mouth Rules“, meaning that “bigots” are wild, and those playing “Israeli Organ Havesting“, “Nazi Salute” and “Fake Nurses” don’t have to resign and sit out the rest of the game but those with “Clause28” do.

TheEye and David Mosque will be maintaining a two-party race, so vote None Of The Above here just after 10:30pm.

Leaders’ Debate and QT Liveblogging Thur 29th

This Thursday evening again brings a double-bill of liveblogging….

“You lucky people”, as Tommy Trinder used to say.

First up at 8.30pm we will be live blogging the 3rd Leaders’ Debate which is being broadcast on the BBC between 8.30pm and 10:00pm. Rather like the last Debate chat this promises to be great fun as once again 10 blogs will all be hosting it simultaneously. Let’s see if Dimbleby will be as fair and balanced as he is on Question Time! Moderating again we’ll have David Mosque, AllSeeingEye and B-BBC QT-chat regular Daniel from Governmentitus.

This ‘chat’ collaboration will be between All Seeing Eye, Barking Spider, Biased-BBC, Corrugated Soundbite, Dick Puddlecote, Governmentitus, GrumpyOldTwat, Man Widdicombe, Subrosa and The Red Rag, – all excellent and highly recommended blogs. If you haven’t been to some of them before then please take this chance to try them out.

After a pause for breath we’ll be running our own regular chat for Question Time and This Week starting just before 10:45pm. Hopefully you can make both.

See you here on Thursday night!

Question Time 22nd April 2010

Question Time this week comes London, and will be broadcast live so that both the audience and panel are able to watch the prime ministerial debate earlier in the evening and comment on it. It’s not clear if they will have read any of our LiveBlog comments, which of course will put them at a disadvantage.

On the panel tonight are Work and Pensions Secretary Yvette Cooper, the Shadow Foreign Secretary William Hague, the former Liberal Democrat leader Ming Campbell, Plaid Cymru’s leader at Westminster Elfyn Llwyd and the Daily Mail journalist Dame Ann Leslie.

TheEye and David Mosque have resisted any surge by cheap-suited third-party Moderators, so vote early and vote often here at 10:30pm.

Leaders’ Debate and QT Liveblogging Thur 22nd

This Thursday evening brings a double-bill of liveblogging….

“You lucky people”, as Tommy Trinder used to say.

First up at 8.00pm we will be live blogging the 2nd Leaders’ Debate which is being broadcast on Sky News between 8.00pm and 9.30pm. Rather like the Budget chat this promises to be great fun as once again 10 blogs will all be hosting it simultaneously. Let’s see if Sky do a better job than the lamentable ITV production, and set a standard for the BBC to fail to live up to.

This ‘chat’ collaboration will be between All Seeing Eye, Barking Spider, Biased-BBC, Corrugated Soundbite, Dick Puddlecote, Governmentitus, GrumpyOldTwat, Man Widdicombe, Subrosa and Tory Totty Online, – all excellent and highly recommended blogs. If you haven’t been to some of them before then please take this chance to try them out.

After a pause for breath we’ll be running our own regular chat for Question Time and This Week starting at 10:30pm. Hopefully you can make both.

See you here on Thursday night!

Question Time 15th April

On a day when all political programmes are bound to be obscured by a certain televised debate between somebody who is shortly going to stop being Prime Minister, somebody who is about to start being Prime Minister, and somebody else; Question Time this week comes from London.

On the panel this week we have a six-pack of Ed Miliband, Michael Gove, David Laws, Nigel Farage Universal-Shami Chakrabarti and John Sergeant.

For those who wish to take part in the Biased-BBC Buzzword Bingo, we will be playing by the “Election Slogan Rules” meaning that anyone with “Fire Up The Quattro“, “Death Tax“, “Back to the 80’s” and “Job Tax” on a diagonal line should play their Jokers early. Special prizes will be awarded for blasts from the past such as these 100 year old Tory onesFree Trade Victim“, “Build a Navy“, “Hurrah For Tariff Reform” and “The Lords Trust The People!

Once again TheEye and David Mosque will be risking an ASBO for swearing at politicians on the televison too loudly, and we look forward to the pleasure of your company at 10:30pm UK time.

Question Time 7th April 2010

Question Time this week comes from Woking, which is the town where the Martians first land in The War of the Worlds and also features in Douglas Adams’ book The Meaning of Liff as the word for when you go to the kitchen but forget why.

Woking constituency is represented for the Conservatives by Humfrey Malins with a majority of 6,612. He supported Ken Clarke’s leadership bid in 2001 and resigned from the Opposition front bench in 2003 over the Iraq War.

On the panel we have Foreign Secretary David Miliband, Shadow Work and Pensions Secretary and serial QT under-perfomer Theresa May, the historian Simon Schama and Daily Telegraph columnist Janet Daley. Menzies Campbell will be reprising his part as the grandfather in the Werther’s Originals advert..

Alistair Darling has confirmed that TheEye and David Mosque are only sustainable for the long term if there is a 83% hike in your National Insurance, so vote early and vote often at the slightly later time than usual of 10:55pm.
