The Leftist Spin

I was interested to find people in the comments compiling lists of ‘BBC issues’.

I think the following is a nice example of the BBC’s sly slanty issued-based bias.

This article might seem fairly innocuous, business as usual for Caroline Wyatt reporting French affairs.

It’s got a fashionable feminist slant, after all, questioning patriarchal values blah blah. Typical BBC really. But notice that the photo appears to have little to do with the article. Who is she? She’s not even mentioned in the main text, this ‘Segolene Royal’ (nice name, baby, btw).

To find out you have to click here, but before you do take note of the final line of the aforementioned Wyatt article ‘Perhaps, then, this issue will have to wait until France has a Madame le President?’

Then, in the other article, we have,

‘on the left, MP Segolene Royal, the Socialist in stilettos, a regional leader who is hotly tipped as France’s first real potential Madame la Presidente, overtaking her piqued male colleagues from nowhere.

The idea of a Sarko-Sego battle has gripped the nation’s imagination, with Madame Royal now the cover-woman of the moment, her elegant features smiling from the front pages of four of the country’s leading news magazines this week.

Her features have for once displaced those of Mr Sarkozy from the news magazines’ glossy covers, though no doubt he is planning a rapid return next week.’

So that’s what we needed to know about ‘French politician Segolene Royal [who] is seen as a role model by some’, as her glam portrait was identified in the caption to the feminist article. The connections are cleared up, where in the first article taken alone they are subliminal.

I also noticed a to me quite foolish-sounding word, ‘cover-woman’, where ‘cover-girl’ used to be accepted usage. It’s foolish because contradictory really; and it’s not even as if we have a notion of ‘cover man’. This went hand in hand with Sarkozy (the likely main rival all of a sudden) depicted as at the height of vanity. It’s not as if women are entirely singled out by language generally. There are ‘pretty boys’ and ‘pin-up boys’ and quite a lot besides- so no excuse really for C.W.

All in all, sly, deceitful, sexist, politicised, and well, quite biased. Nice work Ms Wyatt!

This manifesto for progressives by Professor Norman Geras and Nick Cohen is mentioned in this week’s New Statesman. It ought to be required reading at the BBC. It describes how decent “progressive” journalists should be writing and thinking.

Even to move to this proposed moderate position would be a big change from the nasty extreme-left BBC bias we get these days. A better “balance”. It is too much to expect for the BBC to be Tory, nor should it be. But we just want a much more centrist position.

Good to see the BBC remaining an irony-free zone.

At 1.30 today Grannie Leftie, Jenni Murray, managed to incude a section of her R4 navel-gazing meejah programme, The Message, on the unfair dominance of Italy’s media by a single influence – yes, old Satan himself, Silvio Berlusconi.

A bit rich, one might think, coming from the overwhelmingly dominant force in British media, which, with its equally Leftist allies in C4, ITV and much of the print media, has precisely the same effect here.

    Ho hum.

    GCooper et al:

Okay, so you have made the astute observation that Britain’s broadcast media is in the grip of the Left. Well, you don’t need me to tell you you’re absolutely right.

But it’s far worse than you probably think it is. Now then, did you know that the vast majority — I’d say 95% — of news journos on Britain’s only Tory papers are also lefties? Well, they are. The only difference between The Guardian and The Telegraph is that the Telegraph has conservative COMMENTATORS. But commentators can only comment on what is in the public domain, and what gets into the public domain is determined by NEWS JOURNOS.

So think about it. If the news journos on the Tory papers decide to close ranks with their leftie mates on all the other papers and suppress a story of press corruption in a Leftwing paper like, say, The Guardian; and with Britain’s broadcast media having no outlet for anti-Leftist news at all unlike the States, what chance do you think there would be of a true story of the world’s worst press conspiracy conducted by the Leftist Guardian have of ever surfacing?

You guys out there are doing a fabulous job. Utterly brilliant. You must be creating untold havoc for the pubescent spotty oiks at the Beeb and elsewhere. But you should recognise that to a large degree you are also hamstrung by the enemy you have in your sights: the BBC and the MSM generally. For unless a news item gets into the MSM, whether through biased reporting or not, even the emergent blogosphere isn’t big enough to overcome a concerted national MSM blind eye. To a large degree you chaps can only comment on what the MSM puts into the public domain.

Check out Section One of http://www.guardianlies.com for independent valuations of a real, copper-bottomed true story of press corruption.

If this elicits your curiosity, and you want to create mischief, why not call up the BBC’s NW Political editor Jim Hancock on +44(0)161 200 2020 and ask him whether he denounces or values the Hunt Keith-Hill investigation into the “cash for questions” affair – that is, the independent journalistic investigation that unearthed evidence proving that the The Guardian perverted the official parliamentary inquiry into the affair through lies and by submitting forged documents.

Jim is an oddball BBC staffer in so far that he really does his level best to be impartial. But he also has a family and he values his job at the Beeb. So ask him the question and see how he reacts. See if he can bring himself to denounce what he has previously endorsed in writing!

Go on chaps, have some REAL fun!!

So once again Al-beeb sells its anti American message to the unwashed, but hang on it only gets better.

Where is the TV series commissioned by Al-beeb on the life of Mohammed?

I mean would they show where he stole his sons wife, where he coveted his bests friends daughter who was only 6 at the time how he married her and then consummated his marriage when she was 9.
Don’t forget where he teaches his followers that lying is acceptable. That 10% of all stolen loot goes to him and how he plagiarised other faiths in which to invent his cult of death, (Nobody ever wonder why both Muslims and Jews don’t eat pork, circumcise their male children and both pray towards their holy cities.)

For a service that will go out of its way in which not to offend Islam, it does seem to have that problem with the majority religion in the Uk.

    In a word, yes.

As I’ve written here before, it’s the inevitable consequence of recruiting only graduates into the trade.

If we really want to clean out the Augean stables, then we need to wrest control of education in the humanities from the Terry Eagletons of this world.

Other than a return to the old system of indentured apprenticeships in journalism, there’s little hope of change.

Nor, let it be said, for the country.

Please put BBC Three on. The BBCs blasphemy has sunk to the lowest I have ever seen. I’ve tried to complain but I had the phone put down on me. They are covering Manchester Passion. There is a procession with a huge cross through Manchester right now. The BBC have an Asian woman doing interviews through the procession. They found the only Muslim there and have just given him three whole minutes of airtime to preach the Koran. “what does Jesus mean to Muslims?” she asks. He goes on as you would expect and was allowed to state that Jesus is not the Son of God and that he was one in a long line of prophets and that all he was was a prophet. Today is Good Friday one of our Holiest days. They finally put something on about Easter and it is just to take the P***.

Also at the front of the main stage there is a section cornered off where all their good leftie mates are. They are the only ones there clapping, the camera has to hone in on that section. There is hardly anyone else left there now. All decent people in Manchester saw how sacriligious it is and went home.

Oh yes they also put in this leftie play that Jesus was wanted for Terrorism.

I just cannot put into words how upsetting it is to see this and then to know you can’t complain and that we are paying for this rubbish.

Their trailer led you to believe it would be proper bands playihng their own songs for this ie The Roses and New Order. I was even thinking of going just for that reason but no its awful anti-war leftie artists who can’t sing ripping off classic Manchester tunes. But they can’t even get that right as they’ve just murdered “Sit Down” by James and they’re not even from Manchester. Put it on now and you’ll catch the end of “I am the Resurrection” being ruined….

This is the lowest I’ve ever seen the non news BBC.

Looks like I’m going to have to do John Reith’s work for him.

Tonight’s ‘Newshour’ on the World Service had a report on the latest ravings of Madmoud I’monajihad who described Israel as “a rotten tree that will be swept away by the storm.”

Newshour discussed this a while and then interviewed a Hamas spokesman, asking him whether he agreed with I’monajihad’s desire to eliminate Israel. The spokesman said no, they only want Israel to withdraw to the 1967 borders.

Newshour pressed him by saying that the elimination of Israel was in the Hamas charter but he tried to slither out of that by saying that he’d read the charter and there’s nothing like that in it. Unbelievable. All anyone has to do is go onto their website and read the bloody thing to prove he’s lying.

But the point here of course is that this is another instance of the BBC mentioning Hamas’ intention to destroy Israel – which tends to bolster John Reith’s case.

The most we can take as positive from “Manchester Passion” is that it appears to have opened the eyes of a lot of people in Manchester who went to that tonight hoping to see a real passion play. Once you suss out what the BBC is up to you spot it everywhere so at least the anti-BBC cause should benefit.

They were so desperate for the crowd to sing along and get into it they ended with “Angels” by that ever popular non Manchester person Robbie Williams. Now everyone sings along to that whenever they hear it anywhere, but what was left of the audience was so narked at that point that most of them could be seen stood with their arms folded.

As at 31 Jan 2003 there were 873 generals and admirals in the US military – not counting those retired. So a handful criticising their former boss is not unduly significant – especially a reformist boss re-shaping the style of the US military.

In the election campaign 2004, Kerry got a dozen retired generals and admirals to support him. Bush got more than 100.

The attacks on Rumsfeld are attacks on Bush. They may matter in the US political scene, but they are a fringe issue for UK politics – except for the obsessional BBC. The BBC is

I’m in the minority, but I shall be going to Church on Good Friday and again on Easter Sunday as well as attending during the year. I find it sad when people admit that their children don’t know anything about Easter and don’t understand the real meaning of Christmas. People can make their own choices, but parents need to ensure the children can make informed decisions – tell them Bible stories at an early age – then it’s up to them to decide if they want to make it part of their life.

Well, I suppose people are just enjoying the holiday, rather than sitting on the computer!

Nice little anti American spot from the Beeb.
“Peace campaigners from Norfolk and Suffolk have held an all-night vigil at a US airbase used by aircraft that bombed Libya 20 years ago.”

So why did the American bomb Libya?
    Well Al Beeb has this to say;
“The US claimed at the time it was attacking terrorist-related targets.”
    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/suffolk/4911950.stm

Thus giving the impression that at the time the Americans believed they were right but since then they have been proved wrong.

    Err Al Beeb you left out the little part about how Tripoli was behind numerous terrorist incidents. The straw that broke the camels back was the bombing of this disco as reported by the BBC;
    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/1653848.stm

Strange how they have no problem in reporting that Libya was behind it at the time. But in the report of the peace protest they say it was claimed.

Oh yes. Al Beeb the planes that were flown from RAF Lakenheath were F111s

The plane in your picture is an F16 it wasn’t used on the attacks on Libya. Neither is it flown from Lakenheath instead you will find that the F15 and F15E is based there.

If you wish to present yourself as a premier news service it kind of helps if you get your facts right.

That woman found dead after two years in front of the telly – what would that do for the viewing figures exactly?

Females – thats another more PC term for the laydeez. Makes them sound like the subject of a wildlife documentary.

I find it touching that you`d expect that anyone at the BBC knows the first thing about F15/F16 fighters and their bases.

TAoL – If your Jihad’s Army pitch gets a nod, I suggest you follow up with a pitch for an update of “‘Allo, ‘Allo.” Called “Allah, Allah”, it would follow the zany antics of a bunch of insurgents based around a cafe in rural Iraq.

“What Hamas do is terrorism by any definition – the deliberate murder of the innocent, civilian and military alike, in pursuit of political objectives.”

their (the bbc’s) own words condemn them.

i feel like saying only the demented and vicious could have the gall to suggest that anyone who is prepared to obliterate or orchestrate the obliteration of a schoolbus full of children should not be called a terrorist because his cause may be just, because it may be a “barrier to understanding”…

none but the willingly and malevolently ignorant can fail to realize that terrorism is a METHOD, a TACTIC, not a cause…

    i’m gonna be sick
