PUTTING THE HOM INTO HOMICIDE

. Hi folks! Just back from a long weekend in Rome. Over there the good news is that I couldn’t pick up the BBC, the bad news is that I could pick up CNN. Whilst CNN is outrageously biased (“Cult of Obama” at its’ worst) I reckon it is perhaps somewhat less anti-British than the BBC, so small mercies and all that! Plus, of course, I do not have to fund such left-wing drivel.

Anyway, I tuned into the BBC this morning and see they have been pushing the “murder isn’t murder when an angry woman does it” line. This latest instance of Harman-esque man-hating proposes that when a “partner” (read woman) kills her other half, this should be not be seen as murder but rather manslaughter. The BBC shows its balance by giving another view. QC Geoffrey Robinson, that awfully nice chap, thinks that these plans to turn murder into manslaughter do NOT go far enough! It’s nice to be home…!!

Quite right and agree with your sentiments – it should have been more – but who pays it in the end – us the taxpayer.

The quotes from the report below sum it up the whole sorry state of the BBC and are absolutley damning of it’s managment. Heads should roll in my view. A fine? Not acceptable on it’s own – who’s being fined?

‘Ofcom said some programme-makers knew audiences had no chance of winning competitions, but broadcast them anyway.
“In some cases, the production team had taken premeditated decisions to broadcast competitions and encourage listeners to enter in the full knowledge that the audience stood no chance of winning,” the watchdog said.
“In other cases, programmes faced with technical problems made up the names of winners.
“Overall, Ofcom found that the BBC failed to have adequate management oversight of its compliance and training procedures to ensure that the audience was not misled.”’

No, there’s plenty of money coming into the BBC from licensing and merchandising profits. Alternatively – or additionally – they can get rid of the very highly paid presenters and producers who deliberately deceived their audience again and again, and replace with them with lower-paid staff who have been through the “training program”, in which Ofcom has full confidence. They can pay a substantial fine and not dip into the license fee kitty.

Liz Kershaw is still on air. That’s proof enough that Ofcom isn’t serious, and that the BBC’s arrogance will prevent them from learning the necessary lessons of honesty and responsibility.
