THE WAR ON CAPITALISM.

If you want a laugh, have a read of this BBC article entitled “Where now for capitalism”? Great to read the thoughts of such renowned free marketeers as….Noam Chomsky, Tony Benn, Brendan Barber. Along with other elements within the left-wing media, the BBC takes delight at the current chaos in the money markets/housing market and it is fantasising at the moment that capitalism is dying and it’s time for socialism uber alles.

OFCOM OFF THEIR HEADS.

Wonder what you make of this item suggesting that the BBC could lose its exclusive right to the license fee?

“Ofcom will on Thursday suggest sharing the £3.4 billion-a-year pot with other channels to help them make unprofitable public service programmes such as children’s television, regional news, arts shows and documentaries.”

I don’t think this is good news since it does not address the central wrong of a license tax in the first place. Ofcom seems to think that the more you spread a bad idea around the better it is. Well I don’t think so. Broadcasters should stand or fall on their own financial capabilities and NONE of us should be forced to spend so much as one penny propping any of them up. Ofcom does not offer a solution, it merely proposes deepening the problem.

Balance over time

Hilariously the Beeb has decided to balance its earlier anti-Palin, Democrat-supporting comic turn by liberal commentator Joe Bageant, on which I commented a while ago, with an anti-Palin, Democrat supporting comic turn from liberal commentator Jamie Stiehm. So, on the one hand you’ve got a Democrat supporter who reckons the party needs to make greater efforts to understand small-town America to counter the Republican’s cynical appeal to its worst instincts. On the other, you’ve got a Democrat supporter who reckons the party needs to persuade small town America to abandon its attachment to small town values, which are being cynically exploited by the Republicans. The full range of opinion, then.

You’re ‘avin a gaffe

Big news from the Beeb: McCain doesn’t know who the Spanish PM is. It was also the lead on their round-up of the day. As a demonstration of the value of publicly funded news, it’s worth reflecting that if the BBC hadn’t picked up on this, we may never have heard about it; only the Guardian and Independent in the UK seem to have run it. Of course, sometimes other gaffes don’t seem to capture the BBC’s imagination to quite the same extent, but you can’t have everything.

TOP OF THE MORNING.

Most economically illiterate line of the morning from the BBC “Given that Alitalia was government owned, how could it have gone so wrong?”

Most wishful thinking line of the morning from the BBC “Our government has banned short-selling(in the money market) but the Russian government has banned all selling”

From first thing in the morning to last thing at night, the BBC spews out a relentless diet of left wing TOXIC bias.

FROM OMAHA TO OBAMA

.

Hi all – been away most of this past week and this is my first chance to blog. So it’s reassuring to see the State Broadcaster continuing to do it’s level best for Obama. It gushes that a “senior Republican” casts doubt on Palin’s experience. Mmm, nice headline. But then we discover that the “senior Republic”happens to be a certain Chuck Hagel speaking to the prestigious and widely read Omaha-World Herald. Hagel is a man whose opinion will influence independent voters, chimes Justin Webb. Who told him that? Hagel is viewed with contempt by GOP voters and he is a hero of the Dem’s ever since he became a campaigning supporter of the Chosen One. The question here is on what basis would “independent voters” choose to pay attention to this Republican traitor? I believe this is mere wishful thinking by Justin and the gang and typical of the determined campaign the BBC is running to try and sideline Sarah Palin.

ONLY GORDON CAN SAVE US.

Did you read Nick Robinson’s blog today which poses the key question; Will voters be persuaded that “only a party of the Left can clean up the city”? Nick reckons that the ongoing economic chaos may yet save our Gordon and quotes several reasons why the electorate may choose Gordon’s “experience” over that which is called “newness and change” (aka tThe Conservatives) It does not seem to have occurred to Nick that maybe, just maybe, voters may BLAME the man who claimed he had done away with boom and bust and simply left us with bust! Still, the BBC have been quick to attack all those evil city speculators for causing so much misery and so implying that Labour is merely the victim of forces beyond its control. Is this the death of capitalism? The BBC is hoping so…
