Here’s a gem of Obamania from the BBC’s Kevin Connolly. If you can bear to wade through it you will come across this classic lines.. “He is a complex figure, a child of a white mother and a black father who in his very essence draws together two of the longest threads in America’s national tapestry and has used his own life story to persuade Americans that hope is audacious rather than foolish. “

How about the BBC does us all a favour and insists that its journalists stop rapping for The One and start just reporting the facts? For example, Kevin finishes his ringing endorsement of Obama by declaring that he “has to protect the constitution”. Regarding constitutional liberty, I wonder how Kevin will equate this with the fact that Obama has twice taken an oath to “support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic” and to “bear true faith and allegiance to the same.” He does, as the Patriot Post points out, not honor that oath because he subscribes to the errant notion of a “Living Constitution” which, in his own words, “breaks free from the essential constraints that were placed by the Founding Fathers in the Constitution.” Maybe Kevin could “date to dream” about being a journalist rather than a pathetic echo-chamber for The One?

Oh dear. I commend you to read the Partriot Post. David’s idea of balance presumably.

Apparently only those that voted McCain can consider themselves patriots.

  2. David Vance says:

Great commendation – but suggest your need to read it is greater.

  3. George R says:

Just as leftist Philips conflates, in some peculiar way, the Obama -as -US -President somehow with British ‘institutional racism’ (i.e. white, not non-white racism), so too the BBC’s gushing liberal, Kevin Connolly, conflate Obama with conquest of a slave past (even though his ancestors included Arab slavers and white slave owners).

  4. mikewineliberal says:

David – so you agree with what it says about the 57m patriots? Or is that offensive garbage.

  5. Whatever says:

Just to give the quote that is misquoted in this article some context, see this – http://mediamatters.org/items/200810280015.
    and the misquote itself:

And, to that extent, as radical as I think people try to characterize the Warren Court, it wasn’t that radical. It didn’t break free from the essential constraints that were placed by the Founding Fathers in the Constitution, at least as it’s been interpreted, and Warren Court interpreted it in the same way that, generally, the Constitution is a charter of negative liberties — says what the states can’t do to you, says what the federal government can’t do to you, but it doesn’t say what the federal government or the state government must do on your behalf, and that hasn’t shifted.

  6. John Bosworth says:

It appears Colin Powell was not really black according to one activist when he was part of the Bush administration. Now he is a fully fledged Obama supporter, he is black again. His color did not change. His political stance did. This gives lie to the fact this is racial. Certain black left leaning politicos use color to their own advantage. To the BBC and other leftist organizations, racked the white guilt of a liberal mindset, “black” has become a qualification. Justin Webb, Matt Frei et al are examples of the puppy dog mentality of the British left wing, personified even more by that shitty program “Question Time”.

There are hundreds of excellent conservative “people of color” on both sides of the Atlantic who are ignored by the media. (Where are they on the BBC?) These black conservatives are bound by the chains of a modern day slavery, an ideology that wants to keep them tamed and silent. It’s the slavery of ideas. Their next “civil rights” challenge is to fight for the right to believe what they want – not what their black racist leaders dictate, men and women who owns their souls, every bit as much the old slave owners owned their bodies.

As for Obama? Even Newsweek writers (who featured him approvingly on their front cover every other week) are questioning the “cult of personality”. Liberals confess they know NOTHING about the real Obama. (They should ask the Rev Wright and Prof Ayres to enlighten them). I even heard (on NPR radio) one activist claim that Obama’s father was not “born from a slave family” so he was not a true “African American”. The party, folks, is over. The hangover is about to set in. The cracks are beginning to appear.

I’ve been examining Obama’s first appointments: “Change we can believe in?” Pull the other one. Obama has surrounded himself with a bunch of Democratic partisan operatives (ex-Clinton hacks). He’s trapped by the promises he made to dangerous people on the way up. And I guess because his father was not from a slave family, he has no handholds on the way down.

But his real problem is that he now has to actually DO something. And meanwhile Russia, Iran, Al-Queda and Hillary are set to pounce. If there’s trouble in the Middle East (and there will be) he will abandon Israel by doing nothing to help them…and there goes his Jewish support.

There’s no doubt his election was a great symbolic moment of the USA but in practical terms….???? For all our sakes I hope he’s up to it. Meanwhile, good luck, kid. You’re gonna need it.

And why do I say this on THIS blog? Because none of the above will be represented on any BBC program. And that is criminal.

  7. David Vance says:

Relax – Al Queda have given him an encouraging welcome.

  8. adam says:

Its a post-racial civil rights movement.
The right not to be insulted, patronised and talked down to under pain of a criminal record.

    Shutdown the BBC

  9. David says:

Obama and Labour bias in one go. Compare the BBC and the original in the Times:

You’ll note how the BBC mentions it in relation to ‘becoming Prime Minister’, whereas what Phillips was actually talking about largely involved the Labour party. For the record, Phillips is a nutcake.

  10. GCooper says:

Here’s something else you wont see on the BBC (and bear in mind it’s from a Left-wing source).

You will, of course, continue hearing the lies and smears from the ragbag collection of BBC ‘comedians’ and ‘journalists’ for a very long time to come.

See? Only one head and no forked tail! Whoever woulda thunk?

  11. Verity says:

Doesn’t Mike Wine Liberal work for the BBC?

George R – Obama’s family includes white slave owners? … They had slaves in Kansas? There were plantations in Kansas?

John Bosworth – “… To the BBC and other leftist organizations, racked the white guilt of a liberal mindset,”. You’re joking of course. Surely you understand that these people are using racism to undermine the underpinnings of our country. The Common Purpose set? They don’t give a crap about black people.

Kevin Connolly opines, “He is a complex figure, a child of a white mother and a black father who in his very essence draws together two of the longest threads in America’s national tapestry …”. His father had absolutely nothing to do with black America. He was a Kenyan opportunist to came for free education then buggered off again, having left at least one child.

Plus “the longest thread” in America’s national tapestry is that of the Native Americans.

God, these people make it up on the hoof, don’t they?

  12. Ron Todd says:

If 95% of whites had voted for McCain the BBC would be screaming racism.

Given the sexual habits of male slave owners with female slaves would they not have more illigitimate black children than legitimate white children.

A black American is more likely to be decended from a slave owner than a white American.

  13. adam says:

The left in general doesnt give a stuff about black people.
Leftoids fetishise moral/ethical superiority over others, blacks are an opportunity to get that kick.

  14. Robert McNamara says:

If 95% of whites had voted for McCain the BBC would be screaming racism.

If McCain had referred to a family member (or anyone, for that matter) as a ‘typical black person’ his presidential race would’ve been over instantly, his career ended, and he would’ve been tarred and feathered and prosecuted for hate crimes by various advocacy groups.

When Obama referred to his grandmother as ‘typical white person’ people fell over themselves to make excuses for him, play it down, engage in Yeahbuts, or agree.

  15. George R says:

The Labour’/left/BBC really don’t like to talk about Obama’s real ancestry, but the facts remain that on his maternal side there were white slave owners, and on his paternal side there were Arab slavers in Kenya:

“Barack Obama and Slavery” (Bill Warner):

“Obama would fail security clearance” (by Daniel Pipes)

    “Obama’s slave-owning forebears revealed”

“Fitzgerald: What Obama has to demonstrate”

  16. Verity says:

Here’s an interesting aside – well, I hope you find it interesting – about slave owners.

This is one more thing about Louisiana that Matt Frei doesn’t know, so Matt, if you’re tuned in, pay attention so the next time you turn your attention to Louisiana, you can report with greater accuracy than is your habit:

The slave owners in Louisiana were, of course, French and interestingly enough many – or most, I’m not sure – acknowledged their children by slaves in their Wills and left those children money. That is why in Louisiana today, there are some very rich black people with inherited money, who all go to the Sorbonne for their education, speak perfect French and mix around in their own exclusive circle. I’m sure they mix around with very rich whites, too, as money is such a great leveller, is it not? – but mainly, they keep themselves to themselves.

This was told to me by a friend who is from Louisiana.

BBC favourite Steve Sailer has written a 250-page book on Obama, entitled America’s Half-Blood Prince, available for free download.

  20. Phil says:

I was watching BBC World for about 30 minutes last night and they had 3 separate stories that mentioned Obambi.

They adore him. But can you blame BBC? I mean Obama is a hard left socialist that profits off of other’s miseries to further his own opportunistic agenda. Sounds like a carbon copy of the BBC philosophy.

  21. Martin says:

    F**k the BBC.

  22. Hugh Oxford says:

The superficial fetishism of the left over Barack Obama, which really reflects a kind of inverted racism (of which the Steve Sailer book talks) is illustrated by the fact that so many seem to be enamoured of the fact that he is lean, angular and good looking, and not realising that commending someone on the basis of aesthetics is no different to commendation on the basis of race. Although, of course, many do commend him on the basis of his race.

  23. GCooper says:

Hugh Oxford writes: “Although, of course, many do commend him on the basis of his race.”

On what other basis could they judge him? The man has risen without trace and achieved nothing of note.

The only basis for the BBC’s adoration of him is his race – the rest is mere fluff.

  24. John Bosworth says:

The world is a complex place, light and shade, but the BBC and the MSM are not explaining the world to us in all its complexity, but seem to be in the business of creating myths. The heroic narrative myth of Barak Obama is being written as we speak. It has nothing to do with the individual (who is probably just another creepy politician, we don’t know him at all) but about the demons in their souls.

Example: a liberal friend of mine emailed me pleading with me to give Obama a chance. After all, he added, another man of color, Bobby Jindal, untried and untested, has done such a good job in Louisiana. Wow! He was comparing a liberal Democrat to a Conservative Republican – a man of Indian descent to a man of African origin – but my liberal friend saw only that both were “non-white”. How patronizing. How simple minded. We’ve got to stop looking at color.

The “Muslim” subject is very different. I oppose militant Islam because it includes a belief system that threatens our very democracy. Let’s not confuse the two.

(PS George R thank you for the links above. They have proved very useful).

  25. John Bosworth says:

They are ALL like this. Enjoy!

  26. JohnA says:

Change you can believe in ?

Obama’s new Chief of Staff was up to his neck in the Freddie Mac stuff :

  27. AndrewSouthLondon says:

HO: who says “he is lean, angular and good looking”?

Challenge! He is one of the ugliest men I have ever come across in public life. Perhaps they have a politically motivated blind spot in this non-existant beauty contest? He is only a few pixels short of Elephant Man with a mongrel profile but this cannot be stated as he is the Messiah. Do the gay community get off on him? Can’t see the swoonong of liberal women – sex drugs and HOPE catching on. When you take an empty box home, disappointment will follow. Sheesch!!

  28. Verity says:

John Bosworth: There is so much ignorant rubbish written about race because the lefty teachers in the schools, lefty professors in the universities, and lefty broadcasters are too ignorant to look up the word “race” – or they know they are being misleading and are doing it for a reason.

Obama is partly Negro and partly Aryan. Although the BBC would swoon if it were forced to, he refers to himself, correctly, as a mulatto. It’s not a crime.

Bobby Jindal is Aryan. He comes from a race that has a 5,000 year history of scientific thought and achievement.

The BBC habit, which has sadly spread to the press – even the formerly respectable Telegraph – is deeply corrosive. Some of them refer to the clearly oriental Michelle Malkin as “black”.

There are six races and none of them is called “Black” or “White”.

Why? We know that it is manipulative, but what is the main goal of this debasement of definition? Language is language and if we debase it, and make it cloudier, we can no longer speak with clarity or think with lucidity … oh, wait a minute!

(I’ve only ever seen this done in Britain, by the way.)

  29. Mailman says:

Its not only that his cheif of staff was a board member of Freddy Mac…the real question that should be asked by the media is around all the favours he will have to pay back to those who got him in to the White House.

  30. David H says:

Just watch the `Dream’ turn into a nightmare!

  31. Verity says:

For sure, Mailman. The people who surround Barack Obama and have guided him to this bizarre triumph are not people who will forget a favour owed.

  32. Mailman says:

    Q. What your biggest hope for Obama?
    A. That he loses in 2012.

    Hahahaha…classic 🙂

  33. battersea says:

Even Johnnie Walker is having an Obamafest: During the first part of his show he was going on and on about how the Americans made the right choice etc. Then, when one listener had the sheer nerve to challenge him in an email (not me!) he accused Pres. Bush of ‘fiddling the election’.

    Johnnie Walker is an idiot.

  34. David Vance says:

Walker has always been an idiot. I recall he didn’t even like the Bay City Rollers.

  35. hippiepooter says:

No time to read the piece in question now, but I very much enjoyed Kevin Connolly’s pieces on this election. Very balanced. … ??
