THE DIARY OF A MADMAN.

When it comes to finding instances of unambiguous BBC bias, you do not have to look very far. I was studying the main BBC news portal covering the conflict between Israel and Hamas and was being royally entertained by the..ahem... absolute neutrality of side-bar items such as “Grieving Palestinians struggle on” and “Grief and fear in Gaza” not forgetting “Israel’s mixed motives” when I spotted another item entitled “Aid worker diary -part three.” You should read it.

It is a diary of Hatem Shurrab who is an aid worker in Gaza with the British-based “charity” Islamic Relief Worldwide. Yes, you heard that right. In this third tear-jerking instalment of his diary, Hatem writes about the psychological impact of Israel’s air strikes on Gaza’s children. In fact all Hatem does is spout pro-Palestinian propaganda even sharing with us the shocking news that the brother of one of his work colleagues has been killed in an Israeli attack. Then again, quite a few Hamas terrorists have been killed in Israeli attacks, haven’t they, Hatem? Interesting that Islamic Relief manages to get its views embedded into the main BBC site – I can’t seem to find a balancing series of opinions from an Israeli point of view. Can you? The bias in the BBC output at the moment is shocking – every bit as as bad as it was when Hezbollah fought Israel back in 2006. It seems that the hatred of Israel runs deep in the BBC and such profound endemic anti-Semitism is reason enough to pull the license tax.

Ah yes. I vividly remember you, and thousands like you throughout the world demonstrating against the Lebanese army’s disproportionate invasion and bombardment of a Palestinian refugee camp. I remember too the calls from the “international community” for an immediate halt to the genocidal massacre which killed 400 and displaced 30,000.

Or is my memory playing tricks on me?

    Battles continue at Lebanon camp
The Lebanese army has continued shelling Islamist militants cornered in a Palestinian refugee camp.

Much of the camp, in northern Lebanon, has been reduced to rubble by shelling from artillery and tanks.

In between the bombardments, soldiers have moved against an unknown number of militants left in a few remaining pockets of resistance.

Almost all the residents of the camp, which was home to about 30,000 people, have fled their homes, but dozens of civilians are feared to have been killed.

The fighting at the camp broke out in May after security forces raided a building in nearby Tripoli to arrest suspects in a bank robbery.

Fatah al-Islam militants then attacked army posts at the entrances to the camp.

The Lebanese army then began bombarding the camp and advancing against strongholds of militants holed up inside.

    New explosions rock Lebanon camp
There have been explosions and gunfire at a Palestinian refugee camp in northern Lebanon, one day after troops captured it from Islamist militants.

Lebanese soldiers were seen rushing into Nahr al-Bared to hunt down a number of Fatah al-Islam fighters who survived the offensive on Sunday.

Earlier, troops combed the camp’s heavily bombed buildings looking for booby traps and unexploded munitions.

More than 300 people died during the 105-day siege, half of them soldiers.

The violence, which also caused over 30,000 Palestinian refugees to flee the camp, was Lebanon’s worst internal strife since the 1975-1991 civil war.

    Hypocrisy is your middle name!

Israel is being as bad as Germany was in its treatment of occupied countries …

… the proportion of palestinian victims seems to be of the same order as the proportions regularly threatened by German occupying forces in their retaliations against resistance organisations …

Compare and contrast what is happening in Gaza today with this account of the German reprisals against the Czech village of Lidice in 1942.

All men of the village were rounded up and taken to the farmstead of the Horák family on the edge of the village. …Shooting of the men commenced at about 7 a.m. At first the men were shot in groups of five, but Böhme thought the executions were proceeding too slowly and ordered that ten men be shot at a time. …This spectacle continued until the afternoon hours when there were 173 dead bodies lying in the Horák farm orchard. …..

… Eighty-eight Lidice children were transported… to the area of the former textile factory in Gneisenaustreet of Łódź. Shortly after their arrival in Łódź, officials from the Central Race and Settlement branch chose seven children at random for Germanization. In late June Adolf Eichmann ordered the massacre of the remainder of the children. . On July 2, 1942 all of the remaining 81 Lidice children were handed over to the Gestapo office, who in turn had them transported to the extermination camp at Chełmno, 70 kilometres away, where they were gassed to death in Magirus gas vans.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lidice#Massacre

How many points of similarity; how many points of difference?

  4. Tom says:

    coda:

Only one Lidice family had survived the massacre intact: Josef Horák was one of two young pilots from the village who had fled at the beginning of the occupation, and he spent the war serving in Britain’s Royal Air Force. After the liberation he moved straight back to Czechoslovakia with his English wife Wynne and their two small children. The family was a symbol of a new life for Lidice, {but} this story was not to have a happy ending. With the Communist take-over just over two years later, the Horák family was ostracized because of its links with the West and bullied into leaving the country again. Josef Horák died in a flying accident in 1949, having rejoined the Royal Air Force, but his widow Wynne and their younger son Josef are both alive and well and living in the English county of Wiltshire…

We desire death as you desire life.”

The UN announcement that 51 civilians have died in the conflict in Gaza must be understood in the context of Hamas’s declared ideology to use civilians as human shields for Hamas fighters. Indeed, Hamas continues to emphasize and promote the religious ideology that death for Allah is an ideal to be actively pursued.

The goal is to convince Palestinians, including women and children, not to fear death but even to face it at the front to protect Hamas fighters. Hamas’s placement of its military installations and fighters among civilians reflects this ideology, and has led to these 51 deaths.

A Hamas representative in the PA legislative council this year expressed pride in the fact that women and children are used as human shields in fighting Israel. He described it as part of a “death industry” at which Palestinians excel, and explained that the Palestinians “desire death” with the same intensity that Israelis “desire life.”

The following is the full text of the comments by Hamas representative Fathi Hamad: “For the Palestinian people death became an industry, at which women excel and so do all people on this land: the elderly excel, the Jihad fighters excel, and the children excel. Accordingly [Palestinians] created a human shield of women, children, the elderly and the Jihad fighters against the Zionist bombing machine, as if they were saying to the Zionist enemy: We desire death as you desire life.”

At first the media couldn’t get away with describing Israel’s response to Hamas’s rocket barrage as unreasonable, but it was a certainty that as soon as the casualties began to mount up the disproportionate meme would be trotted out.

If the BBC and the MSM didn’t regard Hamas as legitimate freedom fighters, as opressed and hard-done-by, if they didn’t brush aside the antisemitism at the the heart of the Hamas charter, if they didn’t downplay deliberate targeting of civillians, if they didn’t sweep under the carpet tactics of sheilding themselves and their rocket launching activities behind civillians and children, and wallowing in and flaunting their dead bodies in front of cameras, if they didn’t regard Israel itself as an illegal entity and they didn’t see Jews as despicable aggressors, then they might be able, might allow themselves, to accept the fact that this is a war and people necessarily die in wars.

If, because of that, they just can’t bring themselves to admit that unless the root cause is addressed it will be impossible to achieve any lasting peace, they truly force themselves into an absurd position.

They appear to be proposing that, if “only” four Israelis have been killed, it would be fair, legitimate, understandable, and would somehow lead to peace, if Israel were to exterminate exactly four Gazan civillians, preferably of comparable status, gender, height and degree of religious fanaticism, as their four dead enemies, and to them that would not seem absurd, it would be just, proportionate, fairplay and jolly well supportable.

If they are really saying something like that, they have truly made themselves look totally ridiculous.

The whole ‘disproportionate’ argument is disproportionate, in that it is selected, disproportionately, for Israel, and not for any other country, just like all those UN resolutions.

    David Vance

Try to understand that the entire idea of the BBC is both impossible to achieve, and a very dangerous thing to even attempt to achieve, in many ways and for many reasons.

As it is impossible to be subjective and objective at the same time. Therefore collectively The BBC must be one or the other.

As there must be only one will controlling it, the BBC must therefore be bias. Whats worse, the more the BBC collectively tries to be and seem to be un bias the more bias the BBC must actually therefore become.

Which of course is exactly what has happened.

The BBC must at all costs preserve the illusion that it has NOTHING more then very ‘liberally’ controlling it, and certainly not elected government. As we plainly witnessed during 18 years of a Conservative one.

HOWEVER TOTALLY IMPOSSIBLE THIS IS. As it has never happened in the whole of recorded and not so recorded history.

Therefore the BBC does have a top to its pyramid, because the structure of the BBC is neither unique, actually out of control, uncontrollable, stupid, short of cash, uninformed, and as sure as egges is eggs, nor run by a bunch of idiots working with a collective leftist sixth formers mentality. Even though clearly many ex leftist sixth formers and of course university graduates are employed at The BBC.

It is just very good at making sure the public do not even contemplate as to WHAT it is answerable, and even more interestingly by WHOM, The BBC is ultimately controlled.

You can be absolutely certain that what the BBC does and says, propagates, lies and sometimes even tells the truth about, it does so because it is somehow ORDERED to do so.

( after all if you ordered a Green top of the range Rolls and they delivered a red clapped out ford fiesta you would send it back and not even expect or ask anyone else to pay 3.5 billion for it. )

Exactly how the ordering is done, is of no real material importance. Although speculation, discussion, debate and making up theories as you go along, is often intellectual fun.

The FACT that the BBC self evidently is being very seriously controlled, while the BBC still desperately pretends it is not controlled by anything, other then the absolute truth.

Should not only concern us, by now especially, it should make us shit our proverbial pants.

The BBC is actually at the center of the propaganda arm of the establishments tree of life. The system creates left and right halves so it can keep control of the middle.

Problem is, the radical side constantly needs a helping hand as the ideology is generally anti ordinary peoples natural disposition and direct personal or family interest.

So the BBC’s job is to give the radical side a much needed helping hand, by repeated trials and approbations and a willingness at all times to undergo examination when properly called upon by the BBCs real Boss. We, on the other hand as far as the BBC are concerned, can all take a running jump off a tall cliff. As I am sure some are already contemplating.

The “proportionality” argument has pretty well run its course here – well and truly dismantled and ridiculed. But over in BBC-lalaland it is alive and well:

BBC:”Four Israelis have been killed by rocket fire from Gaza since the Israeli offensive began on Saturday. Palestinian officials say about 374 Palestinians have died, including at least 62 civilians”.

Help me with the math. Thats 62 “civilians” from 374 taken out, leaving…312 “non-civilians”. Errr who would they be then, these “non-civilians? Terrorists? ( sorry, “militants”)

More importantly – for those gifted with a double first in PPE (Oxbridge)- how many of the four Israelis killed were “non-civilians”. None?

See how stupid these “lines to take” are? And Sean Penn calls Bush” stupid”? Look in the mirror Beeb to see what “stupid” really looks like.

“One way that those who presume to inform and instruct us could and should promote greater clarity in discussions about the Arab Muslim war on Israel is to do the following: every time the word ‘peace’ is written, instead let the phrase ‘peace treaty’ appear. That will do a great deal. And if, every time that phrase ‘peace treaty’ now appears, the phrase ‘truce treaty’ were to be substituted instead, for it is indeed only a hudna, a truce treaty,’ that would make things even clearer. And isn’t clarity important? Isn’t an absence of confusion a good idea, whether one is buying a toaster, or betting the future existence of an entire state and an entire people, on the right understanding of things?” (Hugh Fitzgerald).

Mustafa Barghouti was a candidate for the presidency of the Palestinian National Authority in 2005, finishing a distant second to Mahmoud Abbas. The Barghoutis are a large extended family from the village of Kobar (in the Ramallah area) whose members also include imprisoned Fatah leader Marwan Barghouti, a distant cousin of Mustafa. In June 2002, Barghouti, Haidar Abdel-Shafi, Ibrahim Dakkak and Edward Said established the Palestinian National Initiative (al-Mubadara al-Wataniyya al-Filistiniyya), an attempt to build a reformist, inclusive alternative to both the established Palestine Liberation Organization and to Islamic militant groups such as Hamas. Barghouti currently serves as the Initiative’s general secretary.

Marwan Bin Khatib Barghoutiis a Palestinian politician and militant/terrorist leader. Having split from Fatah(?), he is currently the leader of the al-Mustaqbal political party. He was arrested in 2002 on the charges of murder of Israeli civilians and attacks on Israeli soldiers. He is currently serving five life terms in an Israeli jail for the deaths of four Israelis and a Greek monk. Insufficient evidence to convict on 21 other murder charges.

A quick google search shows plenty of Bargouthys. It’s a large family.

The remarkable quiet in the Arab Street is due in part to the fear of the Syranian Axis – where the secular Damascus Baathists have linked up with sinister Tehran – the stronghold of the Shia “Purist” cult. As the ring around Israel is primarily Sunni – Jordan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia etc – Israel held diplomatic talks with all key Arab powers before the incursion and gained their tacit support to degrade Hamas. In the West Bank, there is some satisfaction that the hated Hamas is taking a beating after the Summer 2007 uprising by Hamas thugs in Gaza when many members of Fatah were tortured and killed. Abbas lost his gardener and doctor, both thrown from windows to their deaths.

The BBC still seems to be the only leading broadcasting stoking the story and milking hatred for Israel for all it’s worth – through misinformation and downright lies.

    Excellent as always.
The link takes you straight to CBBC – al Beebs website for children giving a brief but detailed reference for children on Islam.

But if you put into the search facility:

    What is Christianity?

    or

    What is Judaism?

not only do you not get any explanatory information on either faith but you get a load of further stuff about the Religion of Peace – like Should the Cartoons have been published? etc? under a search for Judaism and/or Christianity.

    Interesting….

    Edna and Ricky Martin,

Whatever you do, don’t look at the pages on 9/11. It used to be much, much worse until massive complaints woke them up and forced them to apologize (on an editor’s blog, but it still counts for half a point) and redo it. The page no longer feeds truthers, or says that Judaism is the enemy of Islam, but allows for the possibility that Al Qaeda did it, as well as a few other atrocities. It’s not perfect by any means, and still refuses to admit the truth that they did it all. But it’s much better than before.

I’ve had about all I can take of BBC gaza bias/anti-israel hate and the deliberate ‘tearjerker’ stories of aide workers in gaza, little kids in gaza and all the rest. The BBC are a law unto themselves. Wimpy socialists and drop-out liberal arts students team up with ethnic minorities and wala the strange and comical mix of BBC employees eminate. How do we commission a huge complaint against the BBC about it’s inherent pro-palestinian bias?

The whole story kinda reminds of when the guardian paper hired a terrorist.

The Guardian hired Dilpazier Aslam as a journalist, despite of his association with Khilafah.com and Hizb Ut Tahrir. Presumably whoever hired him at the Guardian knew all about his views as all it takes is typing “Dilpazier Aslam” into Google and then pressing Search to discover what he writes.
