The simple point here is this:

Israel is bombing a huge area and we don’t know that they are killing terrorists, but it does seem highly unlikely you must admit that 380 plus people are ALL terrorists. Unless of course you are of the belief that all Muslims are terrorists. The Israelis are not trying to kill innocent people but it is happening, and it is achieving nothing.

I like the term Beeboid, it rhymes with hemorrhoid. If you look at the definition of hemorrhoid, you will notice some similarities with BBC employees:
Definition of hemorrhoid: Hemorrhoids are enlarged veins in the anus or lower rectum. They often go unnoticed, but can cause long-lasting discomfort, bleeding and be excruciatingly painful.

No Alex, the simple point is, Israel does not want to kill innocent people.
    Hamas does.

  5. Alex Reynolds says:

Thats a bit simple isnt it? Hamas are not simply trying to kill innocent people, they feel that they only way they can further their goals (Palestinian soveriegnty) is through war, which is all thats left to them really after the peace deal is going nowhere. Hamas are more likely attempting to scare Israel, than simnply to kill people, as killing people (Jews or otherwsie) in itself does not help their cause. if they keep firing into israel they think it makes them look strong, plus they must know israel will retaliate and hence unleash even worse violence on them.

Don’t fall into the trap of taking sides here, Hamas are not simply evil terrorists who want to kill everyone. Its not black and white, theres grey in between. a lot of people posting here only seeblack and white, hence why they don’t like obama – who looks for the grey, and hence why the intelligent ones out there like obama cos they realise we dont need another load of Bush-like politicians who just see good/bad etc when life is far far more complex that that.

Indeed, I do have considerable experience of gas cylinders and the images in the IDF video are unlike any gas cylinders (oxygen or otherwise ) that I have ever seen, they are too long and too narrow.

Thank you for the guide to the moral complexities of the Middle East Question. You know, I think that I may have missed the subtleties of the situation. After all it has only being going on since 1948. The real issue is that the two parties see a zero sum game here – there is no mutually acceptable compromise position.

In such circumstances I very much doubt that the IDF would be bombing Gaza if there were no missiles being fired by Hamas. It is very clearly not in their interest to kill civilians (although, unfortunately, they do of course) whereas the indiscriminate rocketing of Israel has only one objective – to sow terror.

Personally I would be in favour of a similar anti- missile policy if a dispossessed minority (with no doubt legitimate grievances) were shooting into parts of Yorkshire from an ‘enclave’. To use some half witted journalist’s question – what is the acceptable daily number of missiles that we would accept falling on York?

    The answer is obviously zero

If you think that you’re a fool, thats all I can say. Why don’t you look at things from the other point of view once in a while? Actually go and read about Hamas or Palestine and think about it from their point of view. I’m not asking you to change your opinions, nor agree with whatever you may read about Hamas, but as long as people like you simply take sides without ever learning about the region, the history, and without looking at things from both sides, we will have war and suffering.

This is not a hollywood movie of goodies and baddies, too many people on here seem to see things that way. Life is not set up like that. Think for yourselves don’t just pick and side and stick with it for life, looking only for what backs up your beliefs. Here endeth the sermon.

    My thinking exactly.

    Alex Reynolds | 03.01.09 – 6:36 pm,

Don’t be fooled. Hamas is a terrorist organisation that not only targets Israeli civilians, but takes delight in their death. Haven’t you seen the joyful celebrations after a suicide bombing? You need to study up on the conflict rather than telling others to do so.

And yes, sometimes it is as simple as the good guys versus the bad guys.

    Alex Reynolds | 03.01.09 – 6:36 pm

Sure, let’s look at things from their point of view shall we?

    Here’s the actual Hamas Charter.

    http://www.mideastweb.org/hamas.htm

The principles of the Hamas are stated in their Covenant or Charter, given in full below. Following are highlights.

“Israel will exist and will continue to exist until Islam will obliterate it, just as it obliterated others before it.”

“The Islamic Resistance Movement believes that the land of Palestine is an Islamic Waqf consecrated for future Moslem generations until Judgement Day. It, or any part of it, should not be squandered: it, or any part of it, should not be given up. ”

“There is no solution for the Palestinian question except through Jihad. Initiatives, proposals and international conferences are all a waste of time and vain endeavors.”

“After Palestine, the Zionists aspire to expand from the Nile to the Euphrates. When they will have digested the region they overtook, they will aspire to further expansion, and so on. Their plan is embodied in the “Protocols of the Elders of Zion”, and their present conduct is the best proof of what we are saying.”

The Islamic Resistance Movement is one of the links in the chain of the struggle against the Zionist invaders. It goes back to 1939, to the emergence of the martyr Izz al-Din al Kissam and his brethren the fighters, members of Moslem Brotherhood. It goes on to reach out and become one with another chain that includes the struggle of the Palestinians and Moslem Brotherhood in the 1948 war and the Jihad operations of the Moslem Brotherhood in 1968 and after.

Moreover, if the links have been distant from each other and if obstacles, placed by those who are the lackeys of Zionism in the way of the fighters obstructed the continuation of the struggle, the Islamic Resistance Movement aspires to the realisation of Allah’s promise, no matter how long that should take. The Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him salvation, has said:

“The Day of Judgement will not come about until Moslems fight the Jews (killing the Jews), when the Jew will hide behind stones and trees. The stones and trees will say O Moslems, O Abdulla, there is a Jew behind me, come and kill him. Only the Gharkad tree, (evidently a certain kind of tree) would not do that because it is one of the trees of the Jews.” (related by al-Bukhari and Moslem).

What part of any of that don’t you understand?

    Try this philosophical proposition.

Suppose that some agency (the US, the un?) had the power to stop all the warlike activity of one side.

    1. If the Israelis were stopped, would hamas carry on with their violence?

    2. If hamas were stopped, would the Israelis carry on with their violence?

    I believe the answers are:

    1. Yes
    2. No

That, in a nutshell, is why I believe that the Israelis are the good guys and hamas are the evil bastards.

Perhaps B’Tselem could produce and identical unexploded gas cylinder and we could compare it with the known dimensions of a Grad missile?

If it does turn out the pilot was mistaken then sorry it was an honest mistake under war time pressure. Grads BTW vary in length (2~3 metres) with Chinese Grads at 2.75.

The Cultural Marxists don’t really care about those conflicting causes. Those causes are just tools to attack traditional Western culture with, so it’s not bizzarre to them, it makes perfect sense. The only cause they truly believe in is attacking traditional Western culture.

Girl shot in face with pellet gun
A 14-year-old girl is recovering in hospital after she was shot in the face with a BB gun by a gang in Bolton, Greater Manchester Police said.

She had been walking home with friends in Gorton Street at about 2100 GMT on Friday when three men, believed to be aged about 18 or 19, surrounded them. They tried to grab the victim’s bag and as she fought back she was shot twice and hit with a metal pole.

The teenager has had surgery to remove a pellet from her chin.

Det Insp Simon Davies, of Bolton CID, said: “This is a truly horrific incident, where a young girl has been attacked and left injured by these malicious and cowardly individuals.

“It is extremely lucky this girl was not more seriously injured but the trauma of going through something like this will stay with her long after her wounds have healed.”
    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/manchester/7809567.stm

    and what the bBC doesn’t tell you;
The girl was walking home on Gordon Avenue at the back of a petrol station with two friends, when three men described as Asian and around 18 to 19 years old approached them.

The victim and her friend walked off but realised their other friend was still near the men so they walked back to her.

The three men then surrounded the girl and one man pointed the gun at her face. The man then shot her. She also noticed another man holding a metal pole. One of the men tried to grab her bag and as she struggled with him she was shot again in the face and hit with the pole.

The men then grabbed her bag and ran off.
