TRIANGULATION

The BBC is hyping up it’s refusal to air the ad from the DEC appealing for cash for Hamastan, thus suggesting it is without bias. Mark Thompson was on to say that he believed showing this appeal could be taken as favouring one side over another. Quite right. Sky has also refused to show the DEC sppeal so BBC virtue in this regard is not unique! So what do we make of the BBC approach here? Superficially I welcome it but of course having endured three weeks of pro-Hamas propaganda dressed up as news reporting, I rather worry that what the BBC is actually doing here is a little bit of sophisticated triangulating, giving itself cover so that any future criticism of its coverage of matters in the Middle East is invalidated because of this move. Nearly Oxfordian has had good experiences in the NHS, therefore it follows that all NHS experiences that everyone else has must also be equally positive. He therefore patrols the internet and shouts at anyone who questions the competence of the NHS. You can imagine how upset he was when I said the incompetent NHS kills more people than die in road accidents.

When the BBC want to make a programme about the socialist NHS, he would certainly be the type of ‘typical patient’ they are looking for.

Either that or he is an NHS manager.

Or, he relies on the BBC for his source of information about how competent the socialist NHS is

To clarify my comment about ‘the Islamic prophet, Mohammed’ I was expressing the wish that the BBC would use that phrase rather than referring to ‘the prophet Mohammed’, since only Muslims regard him as the real mccoy.

By the way, this is for Bilal, if he ever comes back this way. Given those ahadith about him liking to suck the tongues of boys, shouldn’t we refer to him as ‘the poppet Mohammed’?

Like Nearly Oxfordian, I too think the NHS is a wonderfull organisation, and I too will scream crap! lunatic! at anyone who disagrees. Sometimes I scream ‘libelous crap!’ if I am really cross.

When you drive up to Manchester Royal Infirmary Accident & Emergency at night, you will have difficulty parking, yet there is a large empty NHS car park with the barrier down. No doubt there is a perfectly good administrative reason, as our NHS managers are the envy of the world.

When you are ill and you want to see your doctor and the resopnse is ‘there is a waiting list of over a week’ don’t get stroppy or ungrateful to the state, it is a free service you know, after all.

Anyway, the NHS stastistics prove that it is improving all the time.

Just watch the BBC, they love the NHS too.

Wally, unless you provide an authentic reference; you can go suck a dick as your culture encourages you to do. Why don’t you provide the images of your mother having a set of balls on her chin? Incidentally the punishment for homosexuality in Islaam is death.

Osama bum Laden, your statement doesn’t make sense. How can you have an “original translation”? If it’s a translation, then it’s not the original, is it? Backfired on you there, didn’t it you smelly cunt. Also based on your alias I’m assuming you are a homosexual that fancies Osama bin Laden.

Anyway, I’ve had enough of wasting time on here with you inferior Zionist-bastard no-lives who have nothing better to do than camp on a blog based at trashing the same BBC whose decision not to air the DEC appeal you ironically support (another proof of hypocrisy). Regardless, you are all hypocrites anyway in accusing the BBC of bias; look at you and your website. Now, after reading my comment you can all fuck off back to your aimless lives bitching about the BBC and trying to (unsuccessfully) justify the killing of innocent children by bombing homes and schools.

    Someone needs telling off | 28.01.09 – 1:52 pm | #

I have to agree there I something disconcerting going on at the moment.

To adapt a post I made recently on another thread, scoping around the most recent threads, there seems to be a trend to ‘what people say or omit (like a debatable point) isn’t important; it’s who they are, which ‘tribal group’ they may be part of and, for a few purists, how slick their sentence structure, grammar and/or spelling is’. Plus, more value the more flaming excessive you are.

And, as one ‘burned’ by a fellow poster who I have to now respected, there is an odd tolerance, and defence of those who tend to have a BBBC-contrary view so long as they are ‘reasonable’ a few times. Sure it’s good to have an ‘opposition’, but not to the point of ring-fencing them.

I feel simply saying ‘this is silly’ or ‘there is no bias’ hardly constitute worthwhile posts, and neither does getting in the gutter and feigning hurt when the mud flies. Especially if kicking off the thread with a snipe at the site owner with no substantive rebuttal.

It is, of course, effectively divisive. Hmnn.

Forgive me if that was not articulated to the satisfaction of some in a ripe, one-line rant, which they can then trade with the author and kill a few hours of their day.

The only thing is, I think you’ll find the vast majority of people here are Christians or agnostics. Back to the drawing board fella.

Jews can be agnostic, too. Atheists even. One can argue forever whether or not being a Jew is an ethnicity, a religion, or a combination, but they’ll still end up in the gas chambers either way.

Once ‘can’ argue about angels on a pinhead, sure, and about which end of the egg one should crack. But as someone who is ethnically Jewish and an atheist, I assure you that there isn’t anything to argue about.
As I said elsewhere, those who find it difficult to understand how ‘Jewish’ can be an ethnicity AND also a religion, are suffering from an analytical deficiency (I do NOT mean you!).

So Channel 4 and ITV have shown the appeal. And the sky hasn’t fallen, nor have they unleashed a tide of anti-Israeli hatred.

    Just show it BBC.

Here’s a thought, you can support Israel, not like Hamas, think terrorism is wrong, that the PA is corrupt, that rich Arab states should be giving money, that Hamas started the fighting, that hatred of the Jews is being whipped up amongst Arabs, that the news is anti-Israel etc. You can believe all that, and still think the appeal should be broadcast. You don’t even have to want to give to the appeal.
