ALWAYS ON THE BUTTON…

So, with the UK PM mired in sleaze, as Global economies go into meltdown, and with the mad Mullahs in Iran going nuclear, what better time for the BBC to update us on…….the new puppy that Obama has chosen. (It’s a Portuguese water dog – given by Ted Kennedy. Yip – you couldn’t make it up!). Obama has a water dog and the BBC is a poodle.

GOSSIP AND RIGHT WING.

Interesting to see how BBC Radio 4 covered the Damian McBride resignation this morning. The line being peddled was that this sort of political “gossip” handles all the time and that the blogosphere which broke the story (Congrats to Guido, of course) is dominated by right wing blogs! There was also a total acceptance of the fabrication that no one else in No. 10 knew anything about McBride’s scheming. Even when Brown’s cabal has caught out, as in this instance, the BBC can be relied upon to do what it can to preserve those in the bunker.

Women and Children First?

An item on Today about the popularity of Venezuela’s Simon Bolivar Youth Orchestra gushed about the uplifting effect of such projects. I agree, but I couldn’t help thinking of the Palestinian string orchestra that was disbanded by the Palestinian Authority for performing to holocaust survivors. A mention would have been nice.

However, today’s Today was not its usual self. Chris Grayling was given a jolly good stab at both radical Imam Anwar al-Awlaki’s hate-broadcast and the email smeargate.
I was wondering if the BBC have sensed a change in the air, and fearing the the end is nigh for Nulab, like rats, they’ve decided now’s time to desert the sinking ship?

HE WHO PAYS THE PIPER…

Perhaps the most sinister aspect of the BBC is the manner in which it wilfully allows itself to propogandise on behalf of a political administration which broadly shares its inherent left wing and anti British values. In this way it ceases to be a reporter of news and instead become a participant in the political game.

Writing this here in Northern Ireland, where I am certain the local BBC is in thrall to the political wishes of the Northern Ireland Office – and now also the local devolved mutant Assembly – there is a Pravda-esque strangulation of any news that might make people think less well of the political class. Sometimes, the behind the scenes bullying of the MSM by the political class emerges – as in this newly leaked letter written to Sir Tony O’Reilly – owner of the Independent Group of newspapers which includes Northern Ireland’a Evening newspaper – the Belfast Telegraph. In it, you can see how the First and Deputy First Parasites, Peter Robinson and McGuinness – whinge about “negative” coverage of the good work they are doing. (In Robinson’s case, pocketing £500k+ a year in salary and expenses) With government advertising such a large component of newspaper revenue, I am sure O’Reilly took the not so subtle hint. But of course this all makes me wonder what sort of conversations go on with the BBC to ensure compliance and favourable coverage of the local political administration. I believe there is a natural understanding between those who run the political Establishment here and those who run the BBC that there will be generally favourable coverage of the local administration. I am sure any journalist who chose to highlight the serial failure of the local Assembly would soon find career prospects curtailed. The BBC therefore restricts our freedom to scrutinise the Executive and instead functions as just one more toxic arm of government.

WHEN TERRORISTS MEET.

Nice to see the BBC portraying IRA godfather Gerry Adams as a man of peace as he visits Hamas and claims these genocidal anti-Semites want a peace agreement. The BBC item is just one more instance in which the appeasement of IRA terrorism and the betrayal of common decency here in Northern Ireland is retailed as a template by the UK Government for “conflict resolution” around the world. I wonder how the thousands of victims of IRA barbarity feel about the BBC’s sanitisation of Adams past? Note how Adams equates the actions of Hamas and Israel, in line with BBC required moral relativism.

You’re Fired

“Trust is the foundation of the BBC. Audiences are at the heart of everything we do. We take pride in delivering quality. We respect each other. We are honest. We are impartial.”

The BBC Values, from the back of BBC Radio Devon presenter Graham Danton’s electronic entry card into the BBC building.

SUNDAY afternoon radio presenter Graham Danton has been abruptly sacked by the BBC after more than 20 years, leaving his loyal listeners confused at the lack of explanation.

In today’s Western Morning News there’s an article by Mr. Danton in which he reveals more. He begins by quoting Orwell’s “In a time of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act.”

He feels his sacking was really because he “Highlighted uncomfortable topics”
“Every presenter has to obey the policy of BBC compliance. In effect, it means no presenter is fully trusted any more.”

Hosting a phone-in programme “two hours of never knowing what topic was coming next while having to play Devil’s Advocate, just me and a young lad who put the calls through to my desk”
“Now ( since Ross and Brand) it’s controlled by a producer… you go on air only if it’s approved by the producer…. some people say they’ll speak about the previous topic, be accepted, then speak their minds about something else……….. Little red warning triangles used to appear on my telephone screen……

“Since last autumn, a few minutes before my programme went on air a senior member of staff would question me as to what I was going to talk about…..by that time I was forbidden to talk about:

  • politics
  • crime
  • immigration
  • religion (on a Sunday)
  • the EU
  • Islam
  • health matters
  • even cats (would offend cat lovers)

“Since I left school in 1948 I have had eight employers…..the only one I am ashamed to have worked for is the BBC.”

His electronic entry card was deleted within two hours of his dismissal.

BNP RISING?

Did you read that Harriet Harperson has been flagging up that the BNP represents a threat to Labour at the upcoming Euro-poll? The BBC helpfully repeats Ms Harperson’s bleating but digs no further. Is it possible, do you think, that the reason the BNP poses any kind of credible threat is because disaffected LABOUR voters may choose to rally around it? And will the BBC give the BNP a chance to reply to La Harpersons allegations?

CATHOLIC WARS.

Did you catch this interview with the incoming Archbishop of Westminster the Most Rev Vincent Nichols on Today earlier this morning? Nichols was attacked within a few minutes for daring to suggest that British Roman Catholics oppose the abortion/condom advertising plans from Brown and his pals, and of course the Pope’s words on Aids in Africa were taken and quoted out of context. I wish the  Archbishop well as I admire his moral stance, but can only see much more conflict with the anti-Christian BBC. (Isn’t it cute the way the interviewer uses the witterings of Tony Blair at the end of this to try and trip Nichols up? Thought he answered it well, btw)
