UNHAPPY TO BE ON AN ISLAND IN THE SUN

Too good to be true. Most of the media reported the goods news story that a Brit (of the non-Nigerian/Ethiopian variant) has been appointed caretaker for 6 months of the tropical Hamilton island, just off the Australian coast. The BBC mentioned it – before revealing that a nearby island has been used as a penal colony for Aborigines who have been terribly abused by their white jailers. Nothing like a guilt trip to start the day…!

SLOW JOE AND THE TWO STATE SHOW

I see the BBC is running the news that slow Joe Biden, Obama’s trained attack poodle, has told Israel that “it must” accept a two-State solution if the “conflict” with the Palestinians is to end. This entire BBC article is written entirely from a pro-Democrat position – which is at least a minor change since it’s normally written from a pro-Palestinian POV. These days, with The One, ascended into power, these positions are now virtually identical. Mind you, check out the imagery used to ensure sympathies are directed in the right direction, natch! As ever, the BBC shies away from referring to the Islamic terrorism that the Palestinians are so partial to indulging in. If you want to know what is happening in Israel, just avoid the BBC.

Back to Abnormal

That predictably biased UN report that criticises Israel and calls for war crimes investigations, and generally condemns Israel for existing, has stirred up relatively dormant Middle East issues again.

Laura Trevelyan’s reports on News 24 even sounded balanced in comparison. She pointed out that Israel has said the UN report was hugely biased and didn’t represent the evidence that was given to them, but merely reflected Hamas’s account of events in Gaza.
From her report alone, one might almost think anti-Israel bias was easing up at the Beeb. This was a momentary blip.

The report on the web reverts back to normal, and a few moments ago News 24 interviewed Ehud Barak, after a short emotive film clip from Katya Adler, and a subliminal flash of Ban Ki Moon.

The Beeboid made no attempt to conceal his contempt for Mr Barak and his Broken-English attempts to explain Israel’s situation. Something made Beeboid believe it was his job, as interrogator, to pass judgment on Israel’s morality, rather the immorality of fighting a terrorist organisation that had been sending rockets into Israel for eight years, then continued doing so from behind civilians the moment Israel decided it had had enough and retaliated.

Just simple preachers.

In the comments to David’s recent post on Jacqui Smith’s list of people denied access to Britain, Not A Sheep has pointed out an example of BBC bias that achieves a sort of holy perfection.

Take a look at this BBC effort to inform the public: Who is on UK ‘least wanted’ list?. What do Abdullah Qadri Al Ahdal, Yunis Al Astal, Safval Hijazi and the wonderfully named Wadgy Abd El Hameid Mohamed Ghoneim all have in common? That’s right. They are all preachers. Of something or other. Mike Guzovsky, however, is a Jewish militant.

Oops, sorry. I got that wrong. Amir Siddique is the fourth preacher-of-no-particular-message. Wadgy Abd El Hameid Mohamed Ghoneim is actually a “speaker and writer”. He speaks and writes about we know not what.

As Not A Sheep says:

…there are eight Muslim “extremists” on the list (four of whom are described as preachers) but only one is identified as a follower of Islam, there is one Jew on the list and his religion is identified in the first word of his description, the American pastor’s religion is not directly named but as he is a “pastor” of a “Baptist church” that is not too tricky to deduce.

So my question to the BBC is this: why is it relevant to identify the religions of the one Jew and the one Christian (couple) on the list but in the majority of cases to leave the religion of Muslims on the list unidentified?

SAMANTHA OROBATOR – BBC HEROINE?

Mmm, maybe I should rephrase that! Did you catch this item on BBC Today this morning concerning the fate of alleged British drug smuggler Samantha Orobator? At NO point was the possibility even discussed that she might have actually committed the crime of which she is accused by the Laos authorities. The BBC has been bigging up this story, with sympathetic interviews with her family. As has been remarked, funny how they are always innocent when caught. We had the usual human rights lawyer invited on to tell just how awful it all is. Not as awful as the consequences of letting drug dealers and their mules getting away with the dreadful crimes.

POLITICALLY CORRECT "LEAST WANTED"

Nice to see that Jacqui Smith is politically correct even with those included on the list of those she denies access to Britain. So, for every Jew-hating Hamas extremist, there is a counter- balancing Jewish extremist. For every Islamic maniac, there is a white supremacist or a loony Baptist. All very nice, I must say. I am curious about the inclusion of US radio host Michael Savage on the list. The BBC states that “his views on immigration, Islam, rape and autism have caused great offence in America. “ I thought he was rather popular over there and wondered who exactly he offends that so exercises Ms Smith? Also, I notice that vile creatures such as renowned Islamic cleric Al Qaradawi (Livingstone’s pal) are not on her list and so permitted to come here – wonder could the BBC not investigate such glaring inconsistencies? I suppose investigative journalism only goes so far when there is that tricky Islamic issue lying at the heart of things.

WHAT THE BBC WON’T COVER…

BBC bias by omission is much their preferred route. A news story which combines the twin dangers of Islam and the EU is not one that the State Broadcaster is interested in considering. So, instead we get to read about Berlusconi’s matrimonial disputes. It’s always a question of conformance to the narrative.

CHRIS WOODHEAD

I have always admired the views put forward by former head of Ofsted Chris Woodhead. Along with Melanie Phillips, Chris has argued eloquently with detailed knowledge against the folly of the radical egalitarianism pursued by this wicked government. Chris has appeared on the BBC from time to time and usually got a hard time for his bother but he has always been a voice of sanity in the BBC’s bubbling quagmire of education leftism. So, I was very sorry to read that he is suffering from Motor Neurone Disease and has even contemplated taking his own life rather than endure the final stages of this awful disease. I hope you may share a thought, or even a prayer, for Mr Woodhead – it’s a tragic prospect he faces and as one of the good guys who argued back against the BBC narrative, this is indeed sad news.

GOOGLING AUNTIE?

Good lord – and just when we thought the anachronism of the license-tax was bad enough, comes the news that Google could be be hit with an online advertising tax to boost the coffers of the BBC, under proposals being discussed by the Government.

“Ministers are considering taxing search engines, download websites and broadband providers to fund public service TV and the roll-out of broadband…”

One more reason to get shot of the totalitarian half-wits in power. I presume there will be black arm bands and solemn music played at the BBC the day hard Labour is thrown out of power by the British people.
