SUETONIUS AND GEORGE W BUSH

Only on the GOP-hating BBC can one listen to an item which seeks to compare Richard Nixon to Caligula and which is openly contemptuous of George W Bush – all dressed up as a homage to the Roman historian Suetonius. 7.25am on Today. What a load of garbage from the Beeb

Now look here you lot, the BBC have a narrative to build and maintain and they have billions of pounds to do it, you can hardly expect a highly focused and highly motivated group of highly politisised people not to use the ingredients so readily availible to them can you? 😀

The BBC have hate figures and political enemies and the nature of the beast dictates that they will attack and destroy those enemies whenever, wherever and however they can.
Time+money+will+means+motivation+a lack of constraint= the BBC ad hominem attacks and poisonous character assassination so beloved of the left.
Its a simple equation isnt it? Give a hungry dog a bone but dont be surprised if he chews it.
The BBC is supplied with all the tools it needs to pursue a political hate campaign based on its own groupthink insular political ideology, common sense dictates that bigots with the tools will create the mischief.

I don’t usually listen to today but given I have an interest in Roman history (I once wrote a play about Nero) I thought I’d give it a go. If its always this appalling, I’m glad I don’t listen.
It begins “MORE THAN 2,000 years ago, Suetonius wrote…” no actually it was well less than 2,000 years ago. But then Today doesn’t seem to concern itself with facts or even basic maths. We are later correctly told he wrote in the early second century ad.
The ‘opposing’ voice being America hater Mary Beard.
Bush is described in vile terms -with no contradictions from anyone- and compared to Domitian! while FDR- who rounded up Japanese Americans and put them in concentration camps- and Truman -who dropped the atomic bomb- are described unconditionally as ‘extraodinarily great’? This ‘historian’ then admits he has little knowledge of Roman history (you don’t say). An extraordinary programme.

It was as soon as the American Professor said as his opening words something to the effect of what a terrible President George W was that I realised this was just the usual agenda building rather than anything of interest and just became as irritated as usual.

The “historian” was bad enough – but brining on BBC-regular-lefty Mary Beard was just a joke.

Is there no-one in the Today editorial or presenter team that realises how ridiculous they have become ?

MT — ha funny you should say that because I used to contribute one-liners to a R4 show.

That was a long time ago, at a time when it was kosher to make gaga of all parties.

Hiring reporters, vs. overpaying mates who share your views to go in with preconceptions and spin anything to fit an agenda.

Here? The very idea. Next you’ll be telling me there were rude partisan posters on walls in professional, objective newsrooms next.

Or regional editors were completely compromised by personal experiences.

    Or…

Just took a look at that LA Times blogs link. A very strange “Logical Woman” posted this:

“The LA Times is now joining Fox News as becoming a place for not reporting the news. This is why the BBC is just so much better to read, for the real facts and real news.”

I’m going for a lie down in a dark room.

I think “Logical Woman” meant to say that the LA Times (really just Andrew Malcolm’s blog) is now joining Fox News in actually reporting things the rest of the media hides from the public.

Fortunately for the BBC, they don’t have to worry about being caught out by secret recordings because they all mock Sarah Palin openly on air all the time.

Not that the BBC would stoop to employing astroturfing fakes to pimp the BBC around the blogosphere would they? 😉

Its like the old ‘I am a lifelong loyal tory voter BUT isnt Gordon Brown a wonderful visionary leader’ type scam.
Beeboids troll the blogs posting under fake names bigging up their employer, maybe just one of the hundreds of little functionary robots employed by the BBC?
