THINGS ARE NOT LOOKING UP – EVEN WHEN THEY ARE!

I am sure the BBC must have been gutted with headlines such as “Economy recovering better than expected” as the UK defied many of the “experts” and posted decent growth. However it is vital that people don’t get the impression that after a decade of socialism we are now on the right path to recovery and so the BBC runs the story today that “UK Economy to slow in 2011.”  The BBC is looking forward to waging war on the Coalition next year and it will use every opportunity to convey the impression that things can only improve if we allow Labour back in!

Are the Tories in power? Funny, I just watched Andrew Marr, and one would think it’s still Labour calling the shots after watching this left wing dirge…..

Labour always call the shots on the BBC. Cameron is so sacred of Auntie that he simply doffs his cap and takes it all. Not sure which is most pathetic?

Marr this morning was the usual example of towing the socialist line.

For example, growth is the solution. We can’t cut the public sector because that means people will be on the dole, and that means more dole payments.

Lets look at this agenda in detail.

First growth. Does it help the government with its fianances? Nope. The only thing that helps the deficit apart from spending less is taxing more. When you hear a politician say growth is the cure, they don’t mention what they really mean. It’s growth in taxation.

Secondly, does getting people back to work help? Not at all. The unemployed won’t be getting jobs with politician level wages and expenses. They will by and large be on minimum wage. So that means they are paying 2.5K in taxes, lose their benefits, but probably keep their housing benefits. So lets say 10K saving per person.

So for each million who get a job that is 10 billion off the spending bill. The deficit is 175 billion. It’s not going to work.

However, consider getting rid of a civil servant. Lets say they earn 35K. It costs in the private sector, about 3 times salary to employ someone. Pensions, buildings, … it all adds up. So if we get rid of a civil servant, we save 100K a year, but have to spend 15K a year on their benefits. (For those that don’t get a productive job). That’s means 85K that doesn’t come from a productive tax payer.

It must be killing the partisans at the BBC that the Brirtish economy might be showing signs of recovery under the nasty Tories, while the US economy continues to struggle and might get even worse next year under their beloved Obamessiah and His economic policies.
