I noticed an interview on our BBC Radio Stoke local station today. The BBC presenter was interviewing Reform’s Jonathan Gullis, the former MP and now Leader of Newcastle Under Lyme Council. The BBC presenter moved the interview onto Farage and his £5 million gift. The question was framed thus:
“Why did Nigel Farage lie about receiving the money?”
Jonathan tried to explain but unfortunately failed to pick up on the extremely biased and loaded question. The question could actually be described as a defamation.

Fedup. The problem is the stress of being interviewed, some cope better than others. Jonathan Gullis probably just didn’t notice how biased the question was. He was focused on defending Farage using a probable standard, rehearsed defence, he concentrated on answering the question rather than on the exact wording of the question. He will probably be kicking himself now when friends and family tell him.
But flotsam – any reform type going onto the bbc must know they are going to get the 5 million question … it’s used – regularly – by the Marxists and was a major mistake by farage….

I notice the released Treasury spending figures bundle Pensions and benefit costs together as welfare spending. However Pensions and other miscellaneous benefits together is very misleading. Pensions aren’t a benefit, most State pensions are paid in return for contributions from employer, employee and self employed workers.
I guess when Burnham gets round to abandoning the triple lock and any other way he can find to cut pensions, welfare spending will look as if it’s reduced even without cutting benefits.
Im willing to give my age away … i recently ‘got’ my state pension – with a fully funded NI contribution of something like 35 years – and made the additional contributions to take me to the full fat level ( im operating from memory as opposed to full fat) … but it seems to me that killing the triple lock is the easier ‘welfare ‘ saving burnham can make – although if I recall – it is promised until the end of the parliament – certainly the increasing tranches of £500 pa must be pushing more and more into tax – thus shaving off increased state spending on the state pension …
I don’t know what the ‘saving ‘ might be but it can’t be immediate and would surely be a tapering effect for those wholly dependent on the state pension …
They’ll get Alan sugar to say he doesn’t need the state pension as justification for cutting it for those who really need it as usual

Yes we might have the biggest tax burden since the 2nd world war but we don’t pay as much as in other countries.
Clearly this is just a convenient puff piece intended to make the case for Burnham to soak us even more…until those famous pips squeak.

I’m surprised there doesn’t seem to be anybody making a new Bayeux tapestry with the invasion we are now experiencing.
It could show all the doctors crammed into small (at first) rubber dinghies, other doctors hanging beneath Lorrys, more doctors hiding in car roof rack cases and all the other ways the new invaders have found to get into the UK.
It will probably need to be much longer as the current number of doctors popping over is 10 – 20+ times the number Willy the conqueror managed to get over.

I’m very troubled by Nathan Gill’s prosecution and vicious sentence. I’ve been thinking of posting something about it for a while. As far as I’m concerned Nathan Gill only did what all politician’s do in taking donations and promoting the donor’s cause in Parliament and elsewhere.
