On the 6.00pm news is how the Lords have come to an agrement about the referndum bill. Failed to mention that the coalition had fired a shot across Liebour’s bows with a guillotine bill. The so called local crime stats are fantasy statistics, they have no meaning whatsoever. Crime reporting is now and has been since New Labours deliberate tampering, as meaningless as CRUs temperature records .
A similar programme has just been aired on Tony Liveseys show on fivelive. The so-called expert basically thought that the idea that people might know these figures was appalling. I mean that they might avoid buying houses in areas of high crime and buy in areas of low crime instead!
What I suggest as he is obviously not in favour of choice is to move him from where he lives into one of the high crime areas and see how he likes it….

Yet the again the bBC finds a story in which to blame somebody else for the ills which befall an Islamic country. But hang on what’s this taken from the very report the bBC bases its stance from:

Why does the BBC seem to have stopped reporting from Tunisia ?
Probably because the body count isn’t sexy enough for them anymore. It looks like things have calmed down slightly but also the general idea that the military appear to have taken over to a degree. There’s something of a suspicion that what they will end up with won’t be quite the same as what they intended when they started it.

I personally don’t follow the Euro-vision song contest. But one thing that does baffle me is how the Nation which has provided the world with more successful pop groups than any other European country cannot scrape together anybody who can write a half decent song never mind sing it. Its this continual striving by the liberals in which to make everybody equal (I mean come on, the other year they had that Jordan girl lining up) which results in songs and groups been picked which wouldn’t get past the first round of these Pop shows which are all the rage. those in themselves have in my eyes helped destroy the British music scene. Maybe there lies the reason I listen to Absolute 80s and my CD collection instead of anything proporting to be music nowadays. Come back the old grey whistle test all is forgiven, the only program which comes close is Jules Hollands little shindigs.
The problem is radio one and 6 which totally dominate the music we are allowed to hear! I know of many brilliant clever singers and groups the BBC ignore and always will, because they don’t fit the r&b that they shove at us day in day out , they are totally incapable of reflecting what real! as in us the public actually buy not what 45 yr old music bods off the BBC think 14 yr old school girls will go for !!

I see that it hasn’t taken Stephanie “floundering” Flanders long to start bigging up her ex-boyfriend Ed Balls. From her BBC blog.

Fortunately I think most people will fail to recognise the Ed. Balls they know being associated with an intellectual case! Also those who have faith in Ms.Flanders judgement may wish to mull over what she thinks an intellectual case is.
Ed Balls has of course been made to reverse course by his current leader Ed.Milliband who presumably did not think much of his “intellectual case!”

Emily Maitlis has spent the last hour or so reading the news and doing interviews while holding a crumpled tissue in her left hand. For someone who is acutely aware of how she appears on camera (the worst on the News Channel), it’s surprising she doesn’t realize how unappealing that is.

I was listening to R4 LW this afternoon, on one of the shows was a debate regarding social media / networks such as Facebook / Twitter.
The debate had been informative and evenly balanced until for reasons known only to themselves the BBC allowed a spokesperson from UK Uncut to take over the airwaves and spout a list of untrue allegations against the coalition government, the host of the debate also mentioned that this activist group were not political!!, well this is untrue here is the same spokeswoman commenting on the UK coalition:
We start with some simple points of agreement. The brutal cuts to services about to be inflicted by the current Government are unnecessary, unfair and ideologically motivated. The coalition are particularly fond of two obscene catchphrases: ‘There is no alternative’ and ‘We’re all in this together.’
A cabinet of millionaires have decided that libraries, healthcare, education funding, voluntary services, sports, the environment, the disabled, the poor and the elderly must pay the price for the recklessness of the rich.
Austerity-economics is the policy of the powerful. It cannot be stopped by asking nicely. We cannot wait until the next election. If we want to win the fight against these cuts (and we can win) then we must make it impossible to ignore our arguments and impossible to resist our demands. This means building a powerful grassroots mass movement, able to resist the Government cuts at every turn’.
Hardly the comments of an appolitical group.
In finishing I found it amusing that an American expert on the show pointed out that UK Uncut has only 9,000 followers and can expect only 60 people on average to turn up for its illegal (my opinion) demonstrations, the spokeswoman was stunned into silence and had to be rescued by the host !!.

Possibly the same reason 90% of all guest commentary is from a section of media that may stagger to actually achieve 10% of the media readership in the UK?
That, plus assuming the only news worth spinning is what you read on twitter while most of the population is actually working and generating income.
If the BBC was a club, it would get busted by the Equal Opportunities Commission (or whatever it is now) for its grotesquely exclusive practices.
I have always presumed the Beeb love Twitter because essentially it is like broadcasting. Your Z list Beeb celeb sends out a message to his/her followers and unless they want to they don’t have to see the responses from the little people.
The establishment generally seems to be pushing Facebook I suspect because it is controlled. Facebook have (or think they have) your real details. Discussions or entire groups can be deleted if the company don’t like them and they also appear to obey instructions from the powers that be. Sites like this one appearing out of no where , possibly hosted abroad where people speak freely about issues that aren’t mainstream are the stuff of nightmares for political elites.
Has anyone else noticed Mumsnet appear to be another Beeb favourite especially on Radio 4. But what I find interesting is that while the woman who runs the company appears there is rarely any mention of what the people who use Mumsnet are saying. Instead the owner does the talking.

He’s been on BBC2’s Newsnight and on Radio 4’s Loose Ends and Open Book. Last night he was on BBC1’s The One Show. He’s also been on Question Time. He’s been on the News Channel too.
Where will this unscrupulous piece of **** turn up next? On Radio 4’s Something Understood with Mark Tully next Sunday it seems. He’s also been inviting to write a piece for the Radio Times. How long before he becomes a regular BBC presenter, or is allowed to make a documentary for them?
After all the harm he’s done.

Did anyone notice the BBC sandwich on the 6 o’clock news? 2,500 people are to be laid off at Pfizer for which (implied) the Coalition is to blame (as they need more jobs in the private sector to help the economy).
Several minutes spent on the redundancies. Then briefly (and I think the volume had been turned down to impart this news) the manufacturing figures were good news. Before volume turned up again to explain for another couple of minutes that this was bad news for the Coalition.
Channel 4 News then produced the same sandwich – taking lessons from the BBC?
sorry missed out that the volume turned up at the end of the piece to return to the redundancies at Pfizer and that this was bad for the Coalition.
Deborah, well spotted! I’m not sure you were meant to spot it though as, just checking back, that bit about the soaring UK manufacturing figures took up exactly 9 seconds of the BBC’s news bulletin!! And was immediately followed by a ‘But…’ returning (as you say) to the Pfizer redundancies. Blink and you’d have missed it.
I don’t think the BBC are keen to publicize this good news. The story isn’t on their website’s Home page, and is tucked away way down the pecking order on the Business page. Stephanie Flanders isn’t blogging about it, nor is Paul Mason, and nor is Robert Peston (who’s still harping on about phone-hacking).
Would anyone bug Robert Pestons phone? Listening to him for more than a minute makes my teeth itch.

He’s got Len McCluskey from one of the BA unions on. Some guy from an independent cabin crew association called in and asked him ‘What has all your strike action achieved other than lose the company 122 million pounds and seriously inconvenienced the public?’
Williams cuts in ‘Before he answers that question, are you against the strike?’ Lo and behold, that completely unncessary question diverts attention so Mr McKlusky doesn’t have to answer the question.

We are also treated to Mr. Paxman, apparently this time very worried about the cost to the taxpayer of policing demos from some groups, while he and his colleagues seem more than happy to tweet away en route to mixing it up with others at demos they like – who one suspects cost a lot more.

Although the website report does reference it, the key line in the TV coverage was to suggest that the Chancellor in a very difficult position politically to countenance a Plan B because the opposition are suggesting he should have one.
What they have done is link the idea of a need for possible alternatives with the idea of quoted Plan B from Labour. The association is that Labour are going along the lines of independent thinkers the IFS.
Labour’s plan B however is to reconsider the spending reductions in order to stimulate growth. The report suggests that that any monetary loosening is dangerous and may affect inward investment and therefore benefits to the economy. BBC economics 2+2=7
Anyone hear Naughtie’s round up of correspondent opinion re the Middle East and Egypt this morning? Beeboids from Yemen, Jordan and Jerusalem giving their verdict.
Not a single word about the Islamist threat, that the opposition in Egypt is named not, say, the Democrats but the Muslim Brotherhood, or what the alternative to the current regimes would actually want or be able to do. The breathless coverage of the whole affair positions this to be Eastern Europe 1989, rather than a throw of the dice by desperate, repressed people that could very, very easily end with radical Islamists or the army in charge, or simmering civil war.
