Do I pitch my ” High Five go Rad in Salford” series as a comedy or a tragedy to the BBC Commissioning Team?
It`s about the japes and scrapes involved in moving the BBCs staff up to Salford-no wonder the BBC are always going on about the travelling community…lots of camping yet to be done by Evan and Co no doubt ,whilst the perfect” to-die- for “pied a terre becomes available from the Irwell Delta
There’s probably a palpable sense of relief at the BBC now that The Chosen One has now returned to full campaigning mode (although not sure that he was ever doing anything other):
Pollsters have obviously told him this looking tough on stuff plays well with voters, although it does rely on him playing a little bit fast and loose with facts and hope that organisations like the Beeb don’t dig too deeply.
The report blithely reports Obama’s suggestion that the border fence asked for by Republicans as a precondition for supporting reform is “just about finished.” In addition, although he mentions it was started under Bush, he mentions that there are now more border guards than ever before, in a way that suggests this is all down to his leadership.
His argument is that Republicans should now get on and back his proposed reforms and that now he’s kept his end of the bargain its down to nasty Republicans that the Hispanics are getting shafted.
Whoops
Whilst on the face of it, 649 miles out of 652 miles of fence are complete, it really still isn’t done. The bill signed by Bush required double fencing and only 36 miles of this have been completed. Nearly Finished has a funny definition it would seem in some parts of the world.
Also let’s take a quick look at those border guard numbers. True there are some 17,600 border guards covering the south western US which is probably more than ever before. However the idea that was left to float out there was that most of it happened under Obama unfortunately isn’t true. It seems that 15,400 of them were there when Bush was President.
Interesting that Obama talks about “Politics” as a way of criticising Republican’s but as ever there’s no examination of this piece of politicking from the BBC. Although they acknowledge its unlikely that this reform will see the light of day before the election, no one questions the idea of this being an illusion performed in front of useful idiots.
