Same Old story

Before 12:59, when it was updated, the top story on the BBC’s Middle East page was: “US urges Israel to end ‘isolation in Middle East’ “

Apparently US defence secretary Leon Panetta made another speech about Israel’s isolation.
Just get to the damn table” he urges Israel in his vernacularly vocal style.
Just the other day, in October to be precise, he said more or less the same thing: “The most important thing they can do is go to the negotiating table. You are not going to achieve Middle East peace by trying to slam-dunk it at the UN,” he said.

Okay we’ve already gathered he thinks Israel should make suicidal concessions.
This time he spoke of ‘mending fences,’ (unless they’re in Israel, where fences and building are obstacles to peace). According to the BBC Mr. Panetta also said, again, that Israel should ‘restart peace talks with the Palestinians.’
Surely he’s heard that the Palestinians tore up the rules when they ran off to the UN with their bid for statehood?
If not, he must at least have heard that Turkey, Egypt, Tunisia, Yemen, Syria, Uncle Tom Cobley and all are being increasingly belligerent, and have stepped up the default blame-shifting for all their own internal failings, onto Israel.
Panetta must realise, surely, that a useful scapegoat will not be sacrificed lightly. The Arab World will cling on to these tactics as long as people are gullible enough to fall for them. Taking their conspiracy theories and bizarre distorted accusations against Israel at face-value, as Panetta obviously does, doesn’t show much political intelligence or judgement. Giving his views undue prominence by making his speech top story for several hours on their website with nary a squeak of criticism in sight is bound to look as though the BBC concurs and expects us to too.

See here, in a perceptive article in the Commentator entitled “Same Old Story in the new Middle East” Petra Marquardt Bigman includes these Jeffrey Goldberg quotes :

“the Syrian opposition finds it beneficial to spread the lie that Assad is a Jewish agent.” […..]“Once dictators used anti-Semitism to divert their citizens’ attention away from their own problems. Now expressions of the most ridiculous conspiracy theories seem to rise up organically.”

Leon Panetta thinks appeasing the Arab World will keep the West safe, and his repetitious outbursts make sure we know it. Repeating the same thing over and over may be one way of making your wishful thinking appear credible, but it still doesn’t make it true.
In the context of a plethora of more significant Middle East/World news stories, the BBC concentrates on that, ‘same old story’ speech, but deliberately turns a blind eye to what is slowly but surely dawning on others. The Arab Spring is turning into an enormous Islamist calamity, for Israel and the West, while the BBC fiddles with Jeremy Clarkson.

When the normal world/islamic world war actually breaks out into the open, I suspect people will be flocking to Israel for advice on how to fight our enemies effectively. If we follow the Israeli method, then lots of us will be conscripted into the armed forces and will be keeping our weapons at home for rapid response against attack. Not something to look forward to, but the sooner it happens, the sooner it will end and we can return to the business of advancing our civilisation. Hopefully, the socialist runningdogs will also be neutralised during this period of open conflict.

  2. David Preiser (USA) says:

Panetta knows all about selling Israel down the river.  He was Clinton’s chief of staff for a while, and learned how to do it first hand.

British Broadcasting Cresent strikes again, after refusing to name muslims
for honour killing, violence,  beatings this very morning, their splatting Israel in a negative light at every opportunity, this & every afternoon.

After removing hard fact about the arab nightmare…i mean spring prefering
a tsunami  of bullsh-t, & lefty innuendo as truth on the “poor” TM palestinian
    genocidal jew obliteration dream.

look, they tore uo the rule book, they consistently, refuse statehood, because of Jew hatred,

Any lack of talks now the Muslim (Palestinian Jordanians) brought on themselves.

I don t need to repeat this but..they were a conquered people at the end of WWII. Why?

Because they supported the Nazi’s. British rule of that area was a direct result of this.

But the “Palestinian” people were offered most of the Holy Land to create a Palestinian State.

What did they do? rejected it.

Because of this they still don’t have a country of their own. Why did they reject it?

Because the treaty that would have created their state also stated that the Jews had a right to exist. They couldn’t accept that because they had mandated (by the ideology),hatred for the Jews and lived only for their extermination.

So for the last 60 some years there has been no Palestinian state. Who’s fault? Theirs!

Their hatred has harmed them beyond belief.

Today, they still hate the Jewish people and refuse to live at peace with them.

    Jeeez! I m out

ps for all the “moderate ” muslims who peacefully go mecca

       “Tiny minority of extremists” update

“Also shown was a snippet of formal prayers at Mecca, Islam’s holiest city.

Muslims circumambulated around the Ka’ba, the following supplications were blasted on a megaphone, chanted to by en masse Islamic devotees:

O Allah vanquish the unjust Christians and the criminal Jews, the unjust traitors; strike them with your wrath; make their lives hostage to misery; drape them with endless despair, unrelenting pain and unremitting ailment; fill their lives with sorrow and pain and end their lives in humiliation and oppression; inflict your tortures and punishments upon the unjust Christians and criminal Jews.

This is our supplication, Allah; grant us our request!

      yep! “feel the love”

Actually, Prof. Abd al-Latif was asked if Sharia law permits Muslims to pray for the “annihilation” of Jews and Christians, he said yes, since Jews are unjust to Palestinians and Christians are responsible for Abu Ghraib, adding that “certainly, the prophet himself used to invoke curses”

……goodness old (sword) swinger moh a misunderstander of the “religion of peace?”……… whats the chances of that happening eh!

you know, sometimes,(just like mike myers as dr evil), you gotta smile

Here gesticulating famous Sheikh Nihari issues his curse—all while striking the floor with a stick, hurling a picture, and pounding on the wall.
“Lord, Lord, the jews the jews, we condemn them before you!! Freeze the blood in their veins!! Strike them with evil, or at the very least freeze the blood in their veins—until they pray for death, but do not receive it!! O lord! O lord! O lord”
        ……charming 😀

hmmm! “Pray For Death”, thought i remembered,
mind you Seagals acting was bad, but never that bad 😀

I am being charitable here. I assume the US is really concerned about Iran and desperate to retain influence with Egypt, Jordan and Turkey.
Unless you are really dense the rise of Islamic parties in the Arab world makes wishing for any negotiations by Israel unlikely if not pointless.
It all sounds like posturing by the US.
The default position of the European left/media is to actually believe that the Arab world is playing by liberal democratic rules and can be negotiated with. A lack of reality yet again.

As I’ve said before – the only good muslim is…..
    same for socialists.
Oh, Lord, strike down the satan known as allah and give us guidance so that we might return to the path of righteousness, in the name of your son Jesus Christ. And show satan’s followers how they might also return to the true path.

I expected the World Service to be glued to the Egyptian elections but, strangely, they appeared to be mostly ignoring them. I heard a wistful piece by the awful Lyse Doucet fondly recalling the stand taken by the protesters at Tahrir Square but not the usual crew of ignorant BBC lefties explaining to us how wonderful life is now that this Egyptian Spring has drifted towards the ballot box.

Could it really be that they are directing attention away from the Islamisization? Dunno, I doubt it.

Anyway, this Panetta character was prominent on the Israeli TV and radio news so I guess it’s just one of those sound bites that we are all meant to bite into because of timing and his prominent position in the US government, or something.

But it strikes me as extremely weird that a US defense secretary should be undermining the defense of an important ally like Israel. So many of these allged leaders appear to have been blinded by the rules of lefty PeeCee. And of course one of the most rigid PeeCee rules ever devised was the rule that 99,9% of the obstacles to the Israeli-Arab conflict must be blamed on Israel.

Be good to see a real leader emerge occasionally from the left of the political spectrum, rather than the crap we constantly have to deal with.

Anyway, here’s something to cheer Israel supporters up:

    Only Israel by Yedida Freilich

Goodness, can that girl sing and play the piano.

  8. My Site (click to edit) says:

ROBERT BROWN; Tell the US to stick it if they persist in bullying for talks. Talks mean nothing to muslims, it is a sign of weakness. Come on Israel, go on a real war footing and wipe out each and every muslim state that calls for your destruction, only there will you find peace for your people. The arabs are a pathetic people, without oil they are nothing, take it from them, and send them into the desert where they belong, enough is enough.

  9. George R says:

INBBC wants Israel to give up land for Hamas.

INBBC won’t even give up Asian Network for licencepayers.

  10. George R says:

    ‘Jihadwatch’ –

Panetta blames Israel for jihad against it, tells Israelis to “mend fences” with jihad-sponsoring states
“These statements could only have been spoken by a man lacking the first foggiest idea about what jihad is, and why the Arab and Muslim states are so dead-set against Israel that only the destruction of the Jewish State will satisfy them.”

  11. Teddy Bear says:

The demean Israel/appease Arab US government is on a roll, and the BBC is first to further the ‘message’. The main BBC Mid-East webpage gives these 2 stories prominence

Hillary Clinton ‘concerned over Israeli democracy’

US Jewish outcry over Israeli expat ‘return’ ads

Such is the importance of those stories, it would probably account for why they couldn;t cover this story
Zakho, Iraqi Islamic extremists attack Christian-owned shops and properties

  12. TooTrue says:

Yep, that’s the BBC – never saw a negative story on Israel they didn’t like.
