Interesting bit of analysis here from the fiercely neutral BBC; It concerns the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem and a fight that broke out between the Priest in charge of it. Luckily (sic0 the Palestinian police were on hand to save the day but it was this that caught my eye…

The 1,700-year-old church, one of the holiest sites in Christianity, is in a bad state of repair, largely because the priests cannot agree on who should pay for its upkeep. Jerusalem’s Church of the Holy Sepulchre, built on the site where many Christians believe Jesus was crucified, has also seen similar incidents.

Not quite the full picture. For starters, ever since Palestinians gained control of Bethlehem they have relentlessly cleansed it of the Christian community and made access much more difficult. From 60% in 1990 to a mere 15% in 2011, but not worth a mention for the BBC. Try this for the perspective that the BBC carefully avoids giving you.

The beeb’s “analysis” stabs Christian priests in the back by suggesting that they’re always fighting each other, and hints that it takes moslems (as in police chief Lt-Col Khaled) to calm them down.
If it wasn’t for the tourist revenue brough in by the west bank’s few remaining Christians, the moslems would have blown up the Church of the Nativity years ago. And the BBC would have quoted the Antichrist of Canterbury blaming it all on the Jews.
Interestingly, Jerusalem hasn’t seen a mass exodus from its sizeable Christian quarter. But then the quarter has been part of a tolerant democratic state since 1967.

I’m waiting for world outrage that Palestinian police beat monks with clubs to break up a riot. … still waiting.

    Heard this one too!
To try and sneer at Jews or Christians in the midst of the potential hellhole that Islam has plans to bury both in is typical outrageous and unsubstantiated Beeb shit.
Any Jew, Christian…or indeed any faithful Muslim who hates what the Beebs favoured Islamists is doing to their part of the world…has my sympathy, and they all deserve better than multikulti guttersnipes who use interns to clear their cubicles back in Islington.

An interesting angle here, is that these arabs behavior,(with particular reference to the disrepair of the building) is simply following islamic doctrine.
Instilling, “dhimmi” status on the christians there. (until they can be removed totally) … and not only on the access issue, although that is normal fare.
But also,(as islamic doctrine, explicitly prohibits building of new churches, OR REPAIRING old ones), on the repairs to the church itself …
“just fallen into disrepair”? … give me a break.

“good old” palestinian??????  police eh! … WTF!

    appalling deceit and bias
