24 hours after the ‘Telegraph’, INBBC has a report on WARSI, relegating the Islamic connections.

The low point was some idiot doing his “Horrible Histories” act to an unamused audience on the banks of the Thames. I’d thought that when this started with our Huw in the studio overlooking Buckingham Palace that the BBC was going to do its best regardless of its republican sympathies. Instead the whole thing turned into a simulacrum of Blue Peter jammed with “celebrities” doing, well, not a lot. Another low point was Richard E Grant’s reading of Wordsworth: the death’s head smile on the face of John Sergeant said it all.

If there’s one thing the BBC likes more than a poll that they run, it’s a poll that their mates run that they can refer to… if the ‘results’ suit. I wonder if Mr. ‘TwitterSource’ Black has picked up on this yet..

The comments so far are interesting, especially for a medium that may be keen to speak for its readers vs. at them, with an actual financial imperative to true representation. Unlike some unique exceptions (often FoI protected).

Even Evan Davis had to say at the start of his piece that it was hardly a “fair” question framed by those who wanted the “correct answer”.
He did his piece just after 8am today…and he of course had already made up his mind about the drones of Lincolnshire Council.
Still-his sneering tone and smartarse questions were politely and comprehensively answered, so Evan wheeled in his big gun…a Tory too, doncha know?
Turned out to be Tim Yeo-resident Climate Change huckster, doing rather nicely out of the technical provision of oversized bird blenders…but his personal stake in it all was not mentioned…no sirree!
Still-out of all the guff, I got Evans description of the threat by Farmer Giles to the “wind industry”.
Any idea why the Beeboids would be so threatened if the “wind industry” was to be closed down….I know no better description of the BBC than this one.
This site is now a windbreak!

Normal service has now been resumed. The Beeboids were obliged to televise the Thames Pageant through gritted teeth yesterday. This morning 5 Live is anxious to ask ‘did we overdo the coverage?’
Over to you Nicky Campbell fans: baroom bolsheviks, professional northerners, celtic warriors and anti-cutz campaigners.
Gameshow is hilarious. ‘I won’t tell you what I think’. Has he taken on board too much Leveson? A Quasi-Judicial Dame? As if we care what he thinks?

Laugh! He asked Harman, on his programme last week if she was able to put her personal feelings to one side if asked to judge things objectively.

Harman, of course, avoided this and answered a question of her own choice – and went on and on not answering the question, uniterrupted by Nikita

Strange isn’t it that as their beloved pro democracy uprising began to turn increasingly sour with evidence that it had been hijacked the BBC went extremely quiet. But now it would seem they’re back.

But now they’re suddenly interested again and I can’t help but feel their slant is one of Ex Mubarak Crony Tries to undermine Democracy with Scare Tactics.

But it has been well documented everywhere else (and curiously not so on the BBC) about what has been occuring to the coptic Christians. What has also been well documented are the stories of how the pro democracy movement that started the overthrow of Mubarak have been sidelined, by the emergence of The Brotherhood who stated they weren’t going to get involved in the election. The story as the BBC is now presenting it can only stand this way if you believe the BBC’s absence of of reporting has it’s basis in genuine absence of activity, which it doesn’t.

Interesting that the newscaster on the R4 10.00 AM news just now referred to cartoons of ‘the Muslim prophet Mohammed’ – I’m sure it’s the first time I’ve heard them use this form of words in stead of calling him ‘the prophet Mohammed’ as though everyone was agreed on the point. No doubt it may strike some people as a trivial issue but referring to the guy as though he was irrefutably a prophet just happens to completely de-legitimise Judaism, Christianity and, every other religion on earth., I sincerely hope it becomes the house style.

      No. BBC NEWS 1151

They are back to calling him “The Prophet Mohammed” . Maybe they should start referring to “Jesus Christ the Lamb of God”. Doubt it. He’s not my prophet.

I suppose that depends on whether you think that a prophet has to correctly prohesise or not.

BBC’s next Director General is a Labour Stooge:

Serious questions are being raised about the way Ed Richards (the Labour stooge who’s favourite to be the next director-general of the BBC) controls the purse strings of media regulator Ofcom, which he heads.
A well-placed mole at the BBC encouraged me to dig out last year’s Commons public accounts committee report into Ofcom.

Brace yourselves. While you’re back’s turned with . . er . . other things, the BBC prepares to sneak out another anti-Western, anti-capitalist, rant in its “sustainability – save the environment – kill a few humans – economic progress is death” meme on BBC4 at 10:00 pm tonight.
I have it on the authority of the Sunday Times “Culture” supplement (from a pair of children that Murdoch mistakenly let hold the tiller for a few moments) that in this “cogent argument” for Western poverty, we can expect (among others) David Suzuki – environmentalist, academic, activist, nutter – to inform us that “conventional economics capitalism is a form of brain damage”.
Wow! We’re going to pay in spades for the BBC being forced to schedule all that old-fashioned patriotic nonsense of the last few days.

‘Mr Soros, speaking at a conference in Italy, was referring to the drastic austerity measures that have been implemented across Europe, measures that are now being questioned by a growing number of politicians and commentators. ‘

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-18320881

‘Drastic’ is hardly neutral language – it implies disapproval of said austerity measures.

And how do the BBC know that the austerity measures are being questioned by a ‘growing’ number of politicians and commentators? Have they actually counted the number of commentators and politicians who question austerity, or is that just something they’ve thrown in to spice up their article and bolster the anti-austerity case? I know which my money is on…

Incompetence, agenda or wishful thinking? The BBC business website bigs up

Spain’s jobless level falls for second month
The number of people looking for work in Spain fell for the second month in a row in May to 4.71 million.

But in reality the picture is increased gloom, with the very important employment sector of tourism doing less recruitment than last year. The BBC article is silent on the seasonally adjusted picture

The BBC’s line of defense is their number of viewers. 55.9% of viewers watched the BBC’s coverage. But that only means anything if everyone in the country has Sky as well, with the ability to switch to an alternative. Is that the case?

How many people with an actual choice chose the BBC?

Sky News, the Sky channel that covers these kinds of national events, is available on Freeview, so no subscription to Sky is required to view it. Once the digital switch over is complete, everyone should be capable of viewing it (I think), so the assumption that the BBC is the only place to go for coverage of big events will increasingly be challenged. I think it will take some time for a majority of people to get past these nationally ingrained loyalties, however.

Of course, this only applies to news coverage – not the vast array of entertainment channels.

I haven’t seen anyone else complaining about this, sorry if they have –
At some point the Beeb cut over to a woman in an orange shirt, standing near Tower Bridge, she showed thousands of people waiting for the show to start, then went over to about one dozen ‘republicans’ and took a 10 minute interview with some pathetic old sad people about how the queen should not be representing us….. I guess that was just to add ‘balance to all the views’ – but for me it was a real downer, firstly that there are such sad people and secondly because they reflect the view of the BBC that they should be given disproportional airtime on such a programme in such a moment.
