I wanted to draw your attention to this excellent post by Neil Winton on his blog Winton’s World on the topic of the BBC conjuring up of “right wing” extremists in the Ukraine.
“Finally, a minor triumph over the BBC to report. Right-wing extremists in Ukraine are now routinely described as “extremists”.
After watching the news earlier in the week, in which the BBC reported on its own “documentary” about racist football crowds in Ukraine, the revolting yoboes in the crowd, who were proffering some kind of sub-Nazi salute, then beating up innocents with brown skins, were described as “right-wing extremists”. I called to complain, asking just what was it about this behaviour that could be labelled as politically inspired, not to say right wing and extreme?
It usually takes the BBC complaints desk about 10 days to compose a bromide explaining incompetent or inaccurate behaviour by their operatives. This time I noticed that the very next day, these ugly, loud and violent demonstrators were simply described as “extremists”.
Excellent. Strike One, after about 500 misses! “
Must be using their usual sandbags and windsocks to provide cover after the Royal Barge debacle, so bit thin at Complaints HQ.
Lots of damp cravats, tea tree oil, Enya and incantations round Jenni Murrays Aga; as the velcro epaulettes are slyly removed from the likes of Cotton and Bacon.,,albeit in a caring and a sharing way.
Sense the wounded outrage is that this may yet be the BBCs last big event…and the future with these sneering pop princesses is not assured is it?
Oh the humanity…rickshaws circling the poppets, and let`s hope the chavs don`t remember…well we just might this time!

Their ‘last big event’ will be their Closing Down Concert. Verses of ‘We Won’t Meet Again’ led by Plan B, Billy & Melvin Bragg, the Taliban Ragtime Band, Evan Davis Jr. & Fearne Cotton, ‘The Face that Almost Sank A Thousand Ships’. Bye bye, beeboids. Bye bye, New Cuba. The teats upon which you sucked for so long have all run dry. The grown-ups have changed the locks on the students’ union. Mistah Patten he dead.

I was always under the assumption that the BBC were against making ‘value judgements’ of any kind, or does this only apply when their ‘news’ output covers ‘radical’ Muslims?

Editorial decision making = value judgments.
This knee jerk “right-wing” stuff is the same as calling anything they don’t agree with “fascist”. But why libel the “right”? It’s who they are; it’s what they know; it’s the result of intellectual inbreeding. Do you know, I once had an incredible conversation with a fellow BBC producer in which I tired to convince her that “some conservatives are nice people”.
When I think back on that I shudder in disbelief. Not that it happened but I could have been so placid about it.

BBC editorial decision making = value judgements = subjective, cynical, infantile and patronising nonsense which only the metro-trendy cliques within the hallowed walls of the BBC could understand!

Yes, far too many presentations are insufferably patronising, talking to the viewer as if s/he is a five-year-old.
Fair dues, though to people such as Joanna Gosling, who is refreshingly free from the annoying hand and arm acrobatics that seem de rigueur for presenters these days. Only a few manage to carry this off with easy grace, notably George Alagiah.

Groupthink? Had you worked so long amongst people who thought Conservatives are evil that you felt guilty for thinking they might not be?

If you had to convince her that “some conservatives are nice people” well…. that sounds like 5 years old playground stuff, and not your fault for having to explain the obvious. Makes me shudder at the intellectual quality of that BBC producer. Or was she so left-wing, she knew nothing about the real world?

Has anyone actually ever asked the BBC to define ‘Right-wing’?

Or ‘conservative’? As in conservative Islamists who roam Nigeria, Pakistan. Afghanistan and certain Middle Eastern states chopping off limbs and slaughtering Christians.

Somebody I know once complained to the BBC about terming the BNP ‘right wing’, when they were in fact of the ‘sinister’ persuasion.
The reply they got from the BBC was while they acknowledged that it was strictly true to say that the BNP were in fact left-wing, that because they were so extreme to the left, this made them more recognised as right wing.
You couldn’t make it up! 🙄

I saw the “Panorama” programme and like any decent-minded person was appalled by the racist attitudes uncovered. I fully understand Sol Campbell’s anxiety, and if I was a black football fan I would certainly heed his warning and stay at home to watch the football on TV. The scenes shown were repellent.
This morning I watched BBC News 24 during morning coffee and noticed that they seem to be backtracking a little from the blanket demonisation of Ukrainians that the Panorama report appeared to convey. Was it absolutely necessary, though, for the reporter this morning to explain (was that a tad of regret in his voice?) that the Ukraine is mainly a white country? It seems to fit with Greg Dyke’s infamous denunciation of the BBC as “hideously white”. Anyway, whether or not it was a chide, he found a couple of Moroccan students to give the viewpoint that the Ukraine is not, in their experience, a racist country. Of course, the BBC race-obsessives sniff like bloodhounds after every instance of white racism, real or imagined, here or abroad. Just so long, needless to say, as it’s both white and right wing. I’m waiting for them to tell the full story of the racist attacks Jews have been suffering in France, and I don’t mean from Marine Le Pen’s mob. I feel the wait will be a long one.

In the BBC’s eyes, racism only cuts one way: the victims are always from ethnic minorities…victims can never be white, Christian or English!
One ethnic minority is an exception to that rule; for the BBC Jews are always to blame (except between 1933 and 1945) but that makes them all the more more culpable now.

That’s pretty well the way the British judiciary see it, too.

Sorry but in this case, viz the Ukranian racist scum, racism does cut only one way. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I only saw the “coloureds” getting kicked in, unless the BBC deliberately edited out scenes where white folks were filmed being beaten up by black Ukranians.

Had to chuckle whilst listening to Drive on Radio 5 yesterday afternoon. They had a brief telephone interview with someone from the England Supporters Group (can’t remember his name), talking about the Panorama program on racists in Ukraine and Poland. Clearly, Peter Allen expected him to echo the shock and fears of the BBC, but instead the interviewee tore into the BBC for presenting a biased and misleading program. Allen’s discomfiture was evident as he was thrown onto the back foot and found himself scrambling to defend the BBC. However, the interviewee held his ground and made his points forcefully and cogently. Not the interview Peter Allen was expecting! Most amusing though.
(on going to iPlayer to see if I could give the chap an honorable mention, I find this show is not available. Ho hum…)

Something almost as delicious happened on Sunday, when, beneath Tower (I think) Bridge, Emily Maitlis interviewed Graham Smith, leader of the anti-monarchist “Republic”. Instead of tearing into Liz Windsor, as the BBC evidently expected he’d do, the embittered Mr Smith tore into the BBC, repeatedly crying that it was a “disgrace” for giving so much airtime to the Jubilee. Not what was intended at all!
Still, I suppose the BBC can now conveniently cite Smith’s rant as proof that it got the coverage “just about right”.

The disproportionate amount of airtime the BBC gave to the anti-monarchists was a disgrace. There is a time and place for having the debate, of course, but the Jubilee celebration wasn’t it.

Google gave me some surprising results: “left wing extremist” at http://www.bbc.co.uk found 677 hits but the opposite “right wing extremist” found more than double with 1590.
Intrigued I entered “Jewish extremist” and found 192. So I tried “Arab extremist” and found an extraordinary low 6 hits. I was about to cry out, “yet another case of the BBC using semantic tools to promote an agenda” when it occurred to me to check “Muslim extremists” – 798!

If you check the articles that relate to Muslim extremists at the BBC, many have to do with ‘right wing extremism’ (as termed by BBC) aimed at Muslims.
Given the 19,000+ deadly terrorist attacks committed in the name of Islam since 9/11, it shows how much the BBC prefers to bury its head in the ground than acknowledge the menace.

Here’s a screenshot I did earlier this year showing the first page of a search of the BBC website for ‘Islamic terrorism’. You can see at a glance how few actually relate to actual incidents .

I apologise for completely reversing my meaning.

As the Ukraine was formerly part of the USSR surely all extremists must be left wing.
How fortunate for the programme makers, programmed to make a programme about hatred and violence at football matches in the Ukraine, that after travelling all that way, they just happen to have a camera placed opposite the stand where a gang of thugs attack some Asians. Again how fortunate for the programme makers that they were able to interview the victims who were able to respond in perfect English.
What luck!

I don’t want to sound like some nutty conspiracy theorist, but now that you’ve raised this point, it seemed to me that at least some of the punches inflicted by one of the Ukrainian guys looked staged. I dismissed this perception as a trick of the eye, confident that the BBC would never resort to subterfuge, yet, when I saw the footage again today, on BBC News 24, I had the same impression. It’s a guy at the forefront, some of whose swings look as though they fail to mahe contact.

You can tell a fake scrap a mile off. Football violence in a crowd (i.e. not the pre-arranged variety), in my experience is spontaneous, violent, and messy (i.e. the opposite of choreographed) . I’ll go with the conspiracy theory.

I saw a comedian on the BBC a few days ago, to both him and his audience ‘right-wing’ and ‘racist’ were more or less interchangeable synonyms.

Errr……Aren’t all Trots and Communist “Anti Fascist” by design?…….And lately Lowles and his crew have been putting it about that UKIP are “Far right”……No doubt the BBC will be marching to that tune any time soon too….

They’re certainly violently allergic to free speech. The ultra-dirty wing of the metropolitan Cultural Marxist elite. Not that the latter would have the former inside their lovely state-funded homes in the unenriched zones. That wouldn’t do. But, like Andrew Marr, they do like stamping on ‘natural beliefs’. Blimey, they sound like fascists.

Hope not Hate have branded Christian charities who support Christians suffering religious persecution in Islamic countries as “right-wing extremists”. UAF have members of the Islamic Forum of Europe in their Leadership (an extremist-backed organisation that aims for the imposition of Sharia in Europe). The Respect Party has the same IFE links.
These groups are more of a threat than any right-wing groups.

And the Polish Jewish lad who was on the Panorama show now says that his whole interview was cut and pasted to mislead.
He suggested that they speak to two Israeli footballers to get more context-but the BBC didn`t.
The Beeb said that would love to have done just this.
Anybody at the BBC willing to tell us why they didn`t?
Nah…all under the sandbags (or Prescotts and Brands) as they`re otherwise known.
Gutless racists at the Beeb.

As the current ‘awkwardness’ with the Sources>Prescott>Graun>BBCNews latest fuax pas is showing, Aunty is a little vague on what actually backs up claims made, when push comes to shove.
And Panorama, after an illustrious past, has so much form now I wouldn’t trust as far as I could throw the ex-shadow DPM. I recall on another (DM?) blog posting a top rated comment from two folk who actually live there, on black, who said the BBC version was utter BS. What are the odds?
As fellow BBC CECUTT veteran, I was more than interested to not another who has near identical experiences with the risible BBC Complaints system.
There do seem a lot of us about. Must have a get-together one day.
Noted this especially:
‘The BBC has never conceded an inch in any complaint I have ever made, and they refused to admit one in this case. They wriggle off the hook by claiming that because unnamed “anti-racist campaigners said this, the BBC isn’t wrong.’
So… just like the Jubilee case currently unravelling. Again.
And people are starting to notice.

Complete the following well known phrase or saying, “Right – Wing – Extremists”
It is an awful predictive text of the mind, born of repeated exposure to The Guardian and Independent (of Reality) – the programmed thinking in cultural Marxism. If you challenge it, the eyeballs swivel and a “Does Not Compute” sign rings up.
Anders Breivig? Sociopathic lone wolf? Nah, just another Right Wing Extremist.

One thing I could never quite fathom was the Left’s hypocritical and vociferous love affair with Islamic extremism. The Left-wing are quick to point out Right-wing characteristics but are reluctant to recognize the appalling human rights that women and homosexuals endure under many Islamic regimes or the anti-semitic views that many extremist Muslims entertain. For instance, far leftist spokesmen such as Red Ken and Noam Chomsky consistently pontificate about the evils of the ‘Right’ and yet at the same time shake hands with extremist Muslims such as Sheikh Yusuf al-Qaradawi and the head of Hezbollah, Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah, both of whom who would seek to harm the West’s way of life with terror.
This downright false virtue begs the fundamental question of ‘Who, in fact, is being subjected to what?’ and ‘Who, indeed, are truly manifesting fascist tendencies?’ Delve a little deeper beneath the facade of linguistic chicanery and one sees the true nature of right and left wing.

‘One thing I could never quite fathom was the Left’s hypocritical and vociferous love affair with Islamic extremism’. They share a common hatred of America, Israel, Christianity and capitalism. These are higher in the pecking order of Leftie causes than gay and women’s rights (for example) – which is also why the Left supported St Julian of Assange when Sweden tried to extradite him on rape charges. He must be the World’s Greatest Living Anti-American now Osama is swimming with the fishes.

Yes Johnny, that may well be, but be that as it may the extremists of Islam openly hate Western liberal values and thus making this relationship between the Left, no matter how unified in its aims, completely incongruous and ridiculous.

“making this relationship between the Left, no matter how unified in its aims, completely incongruous and ridiculous.”
Incongruous and ridiculous. Excellent. It is also downright dangerous. Exactly the same as every other left-wing project. The two main contenders being multiculturalism and the EU.
A sanctimonious, self-righteous, effete, foolish nature is easy to develop when one lives with ones head in the clouds.

And strange how animal rights groups are silent over halal slaughter. And how gay rights activists ignore the bigotry preached against them by Islam but relentlessly persecute Christians. Funny we never see them outside a mosque campaigning for gay representation in the Imam community. Or feminists campaigning against arranged marriages, or segregation in mosques. No, in the eyes of the Left some cultures are more equal than others, despite their illiberal values.

The left know Christianity is a religion of love and they won’t anything to the gays or the feminazis. They also know if they did the same things to the religion of peace. They would most likely met their maker alot sooner than they should.

True, despite many examples to the contrary.
But the main reason why they hound Christianity and suck up to Islam is not a matter of theology-simple courage.
They`re shit scared of Islam, and so its the Christians that get the scorn and the persecution.
But Islam is a real and present danger-so the liberati have no courage of their convictions…simply wars against the Christian Church by way of a substitute.

Another reason for this bizarre relationship is that the extreme left like to use Muslims to do their dirty work for them.
There are a number of cases where UAF/Hate Not Hope have stirred up rage amongst Muslim protestors by telling them that their Mosque is going to be attacked or one of their own has been beaten up etc, then when they’ve started a riot, the cowardly Communists take off.

The left wants the muslims to be their new foot soldiers. The working and middle classes abandoned the left long ago. Feminism was and is a distaster, most feminists are vile. If you have ever met any you know this or just google or youtube them. The LGBT people in this country is way to small a group for the left to use for their evil plans. So they want the Muslims. Trouble is Islam is against everything the Cultural Marxist left is. When the Muslims can get away with it, they will do very nasty things to the left.

The leverage of minorities. Virtually nobody voted for Clegg but he now sits at the high table. Obama was elected by the black vote that went 98% Obama, Francois Hollande took France on the basis of the 5% Muslim vote that went entirely to Socialist.
Our “balanced” democracy hands the key to power to minorities.

The black vote did not force the election of the first black President. It was the cultural guilt of independent whites combined with Bush fatigue that did it. That and the fact that the MSM either helped bury any negatives about Him or attempted to make everyone think they weren’t true. It took a lot of misled, disillusioned whites to elect Him.
Of course, if they don’t vote for Him this time around, they’re racist.

Therefore the PLO became the allies of the Red Brigade etc ,and an excuse to attack capitalism with anti-USA rhetoric.
The PLO types also became the vehicle of choice to attack Israel as the only democracy with a faith that ensures its survival.
The Left and the Greens, the Socialists and the anti-Semites-being anti capitalism and self loathing privileged reflex anti-Western-therefore took up the Palestinian cause-and that meant the unholy alliance with Islam.
Islamofascism and National Socialism are hand in glove-from Syria, Nasses Egypty, Libya and Iraq…and Ahmedinejadh too…Yemen…that Socialist/Islam nexus of fascism has been practiced now for years, and remains our biggest threat.

Quite a few sources have picked up on the wanton cruelty involved in the slaughter of stray dogs in the run up to Euro 12. Given the Beeb’s concern for animal welfare, as seen in its withdrawal from Crufts coverage, one might ask why it is not drawing attention to this outbreak of ritual killing. Perhaps there is a cultural dimension which might be embarassing.
